Keyboard button replacement for individual/single keys available anywhere?

My HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC has one (1) key cover missing on the keyboard.
(Product number: A6X02UAR#ABA Serial number: 4CB2151110)
The missing key cover or "button" is the Right Arrow ( > ) directional key, which is shown in red and  illustrated below:
       ^=Up
<=Left     >=Right
Any suggestions on where and how I may be able to obtain just this one missing key cover instead of purchasing and/or replacing the entire keyboard?
Thanks in advance!

  • Desparate for a single key on left side of keyboard that serves as DELETE

I am running a MacBook Pro on 10.5.8 using Microsoft Word 2008. My right arm has aching tendonitis and enabling my left hand to delete stuff would help a ton.
Thus, I desparately need a single-key (not function+key or command+key) that DELETES letters or words in Word, that sits on the far side of the keyboard. I'd give up fn, or `, or even capslock. **** even tab!
I've tried DoubleCommand. It will remap delete onto the CapsLock key but then only deletes a character every other key press (apparently only works when capslock turns ON). This *****.
KeyRemap4MacBook says it will remap ` to DELETE but that simply does not work in Word. It can also remap fn to Command_L but that also doesn't work (yes, I assigned Command_L to DeleteWord in Word's keyboard shortcuts).
I am desparate to keep writing and save my right arm's tendons! Please help!!
    Thanks.

You should be able to reassign one of the F1~ series keys via the
Keyboard and Mouse system preference panel; or maybe if not in
there, see the Univeral Access; you may be able to also use an
option by the name of Mouse Keys.
There also may be some other possibility, since there are folks
out there who have used two mice; and other set-ups. Even a
few who have used their feet to control their computers.
A way to use a Script (automator) to create a means to select/delete
words would be one consideration; however it may launch improperly.

The DoubleCommand app supposedly has a way to make the Caps Lock
button work as a Delete key, according to reader posts on this topic who
had been using a MacBook computer and needed a left-side Delete key.
{An issue exists in assigning a key to do a different function, when some
    other Application needs that key, as-is (or as-was) to perform tasks in it.}
However, the native means of re-assigning a key function in Sys Pref>
Keyboard & Mouse panel, or some workaround in Universal Access
may be something you can customize or use directly.
The topic has been discussed in these user boards before your post:

While I haven't really looked into this, there should be more than a few
ways of making a left-side Delete key out of some other key, in the OS.
Perhaps someone with more key assigning experience has better ideas?
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Replacement for the comma key?

I'm currently using a Microsoft USB keyboard connected to my Macbook when at my desk that had a whole glass of water spilled on it. I dried it all out, and it is all working aside from the comma key.
Is there any way that I can bind another key to work as the comma key? (for example the "~" key which I never use)

  • "I" keyboard button not responsive like other keys, help?

The letter "I" button on my keyboard on my Macbook Air 13-inch is sometimes not as responsive as the rest of the keys. While the rest of the keyboard keys require only a light touch or tap, the "I" key has to be pressed harder in order for it to work most of the time. Sometimes, it's fine. The only reason it's working while I'm typing this is because I'm making sure I don't mispell anything. It's become a huge pain when typing book reports and essays and I'd really like to know what to do or what I can do to fix this. Please help.

Any other options if the cleaning part doesn't work? Anyone? I can't afford $1,000 to get this fixed AT ALL.
If cleaning doesn't work, the only thing to be done is replace the keyboard. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than $1000 (but keep in mine, if you have damage inside, cleaning/replacing the keyboard isn't going to be the whole fix). If you definitely decide to buy a new keyboard, I'd take the old keyboard off and soak it in distilled water for a day or two, periodically working the problem keys, then tilt/shake it every which way to get as much water out as possible, then let it dry for a few days, until there's no possibility of moisture remaining inside. If it still doesn't work, nothing lost, as you were buying a new keyboard anyway.
You may also want to consider a BlueTooth/wireless keyboard. Sure, it's something else to carry around (if portability is an issue), but Apple's BT keyboard is about as small/light as possible. Something to consider.

  • Will they replace for a single dead pixel????

My new macbook pro is beautiful. I would have to say it is one of the nicest laptops I have ever owned. I have two real complaints and one minor. Almost smack dab in the middle of the gorgeous display is a solitary dead pixel. At first I thought I could live with it but it has been two days and I unfortunately cannot. I am afraid that apple will not allow an exchange for this though, so I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.
The other complaint of note is of the very nice glass trackpad. While I really enjoy using it, mine is canted from flush on the left to a noticeable lower attitude on the right side. While this is something that I can live with, I just feel like when you drop $3000.00 on a laptop it is not to much to expect perfection in the product. This I doubt would be repaired and is a bit nicpickie.
The other complaint is one that has already been posted about the screens hinge tension. I would have not noticed until I tried some alternate positions, such as in bed.
If anyone could offer any advice or is experiencing similar problems please post. I am fairly new to apple products and am curious if it is even worth my time to call and try to find a solution.
    Thank you in advance.

I believe you need to have 5 or more dead pixels to quality for a replacement. If you're not happy though, call Apple and ask for Customer Relations (bypass support). They will take care of you.
For other people that want to check their screens for dead pixels, use PIXel Checker.

  • [solved] Start-Button replacement for pypanel

    Salut,
is there a way to display an application launcher in pypanel? Found the launcher-section of the .pypanelrc but as I got a lot of applications, the bar is too short for all of them. Displaying the context-menu (menu.xml) of the desktop would be good enough.

In that case, I suggest using your window manager's menu and limiting pypanel's width (P_WIDTH in .pypanelrc) to, say, ten pixels less than the entire screen.
EDIT: If you want the gap to be on the left, just change P_START to the same value.

I just purchased my first iPad (the new one) and a wireless keyboard. Is there a keyboard usage manual available anywhere that shows the functions of the keys? The info that came with the keyboard was very basic and my searches have been unsuccessful.

If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard on your iPad device, you should take advantage of the keyboard shortcuts for quicker access to copy, cut, paste, undo, redo, and other commands.
    Command + C : Copy Selected Text
    Command + V : Paste
Command + X: Cut Selected Text
    Command + Z: Undo
    Command + Shift + Z: Redo
Command + Delete: Delete everything to the left of the cursor on the current line
Option + Delete: Delete the word to the left of the cursor
Command + Up Arrow: Go to top of document
Command + Down Arrow: Go to bottom of document
Command + Left Arrow: Go to beginning of current line
Command + Right Arrow: Go to end of current line
    F1: Dim screen
    F2: Brighten screen
    F7: Back one song
    F8: Play/pause song
    F9: Skip song
    F10: Mute
    F11: Decrease volume
    F12: Increase volume
Eject button: Show or hide onscreen keyboard

  • The logics for ALL calc key figures (CKF) - Table available?

    Hello experts,
I am going through a project here to convert a lot of CKF / RKF in BI Queries.
There are 100's of them and what I want to do is to be able to see all the formula's used in one list as opposed to go through each on in query designer which is , as we all know, a big pain to use.
Is there a  table in BI (RSZ something?) which will give me a list of all the CKF's in the system and the arthimatic used to calculate them... most of the CKF's im interested are calculated using RKF and is usually simple logic.
If there is an easy way of seing the formula then this will help me lots.
    thanks for any ideas

    (BI7)

    Hello Sudheer
2LIS_02_HDR, ITM and SCL do not take data from S011 but directly from transactionnal tables like EBEP, EBKO, EBPO (names quoted from memory).
So you have to look for the key figures from those tables and not the one in S011.
Historically, the three datasource were built to replace 2LIS_02_S011 but the calculations to rebuild the keyfigures were delivered in BW in an old BCT that made the conversions. The logic and modeling have changed completely.
If you really need to transfer S011 to BW without remodelling the data, you may want to use a generic extractor based on S011 (provided you have a delta key available).
Otherwise, in SBIW, Options for datasource specific to the application, Logistics, purchasing, you have two customizing transactions. you have to define branch and process key to load data into BW. But that will not have any effect to LBWE.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Fabrice

  • Disable a single key on macbook4.1 keyboard

i have to disable one single key on the keyboard, cause it's permanently pressed.... is that possible?

This changed as of Mountain Lion (so you must be upgrading from Lion or earlier).  Now when you press and hold a key, you can choose alternative characters for those, i.e. ñ ê ü.
So it's by design.  I don't know if it's possible to revert to auto-repeat.
    But awww is fine ;-)

  • Keyboard to replace keys

I have my computer for 2 weeks now and my daughter used it dropped cigareete ash on the keys O and P and they are melted....Can I get these replaced on any keyboard?  These keys seem so thin and not like the standard keyboard keys....Please help this is my 50th birthday present and I love it.  I am afraid the O key has a raised up melted part that might hurt my screen when I shut it (close)....

    Morning
I would contact HP and advise them of what happened.. they might be able to have the whole keyboard replaced. You could also check online for some indiviual keys but they are not always easy to get.

  • Satellite Z830 - Remove/change single keys from keyboard

    Hi,
some keys on the keyboard of my Z830 keyboard became sticky over time.
Is it possible to remove single keys, try to clean it and put the key back in, or is the key glued?
I wouldn't want to replace the whole keyboard, as most of the keys still work fine.
    Thanks

Keyboard keys are not glued and keyboard caps can be removed. It was extremely easy on older keyboards and I have done it many times.
I don't have experience with new keyboards but the principle should be the same.
Take some flat plastic and try to remove keycap but be very gently.
I think you are the first one with this question so it will be very nice if you can post some feedback or short instruction how it can be done.

  • Would a Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?

I bought a Macbook Unibody back in 2010, and until now the system is still working perfectly fine, probably because I keep on updating my software version, currently I am on Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)...I don't have issues with it.
I bought this Macbook in Japan, the keyboard version is on Japanese (with US alphabets) becaue I was studying Kanji back then, and apparently I am now living here in the Philippines and some of my keyboard keys are lost and they were taken off by my naughty niece (LOL, couldn't blame her though... she's just 2 years old)... now I am looking for a replacement. I couldn't find Japanese version of Top Case replacements here in Manila... now I kinda realized I might as well use a US version moving forward.
Now my question is re: Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), would it be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?
Thanks in advance for all the help & informations. I would really appreciate it before I buy a replacement.
