Keyboard Configuration !!

Hello,
I have installed Solaris 8 x86 edition on My Computer,
and i Have a problem with my keyboard, it is on qwerty, and mine is an Azerty keyboard,
i would like to change it but i don't know how ???
Thanks in advance !!!

During reboot, interrupt the device configuration assistant (DCA) by pressing the ESC key, and configure
the keyboard layout on the second screen, in the device tasks submenu.
This should fix the keyboard layout for the ascii text console.
For the GUI you may have to run "kdmconfig" and configure the keyboard layout for the X11 server.

  • Solaris 8 loses keyboard configuration

    While installing Solaris 8 on my Dell Latitude laptop, everything works fine until I get to the point that the installation asks me to select the language to be used. When I press "1", the string "^]]229z" is echoed on the screen until the buffer is filled. Since the keyboard works fine up to that point (it allows me to select devices and boot methods) it appears as if the "Solaris Web Start 3.0 Installer" is losing the keyboard configuration. Any suggestions?

    Hi Mark,
    There appears to be a problem with the keyboards on Dell laptops. Currently there is a work around that you might want to try if you want to run Solaris 8 on your machine, and this involves using a USB keyboard for installation and subsequent use. If you wish to give it a try, take a look at the following steps:
    1) Attach USB keyboard prior to installation
    2) When the language question is asked respond using the USB keyboard for this step and for all other steps.
    However after installation finishes the USB keyboard must still be used for operation.

  • ISO keyboard configuration

    Apple says that it sells Mac Pro with Retina in USA with two options: with 78 (U.S.) or 79 (ISO) keys. Can anyone show me the ISO arrangement and inform me where I can buy a good quality silicone cover for it?

    Thanks.  I did that but it didn't solve the problem.  If anyone has another
    suggestion, plaese do not hesitate.

  • R61i keyboard configuration for Brazilian Portuguese

    Hi!
    I bought a Thinkpad R61i (7650-A43) at Lenovo, Brazil one month ago.
    I reinstalled the Windows Vista (from another DVD, not the rescue disk), then I tried to setup the keyboard in control panel to Portuguese (Brazilian ABNT), but the key ?/° (below :;+ key) didn´t work.
    I tried Portuguese (Brasilian ABNT2) but it´s didn´t work, too.
    What is the correct keyboard configuration for Brazilian Portuguese in this notebook?
    thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Só faltou uma informação que pode confundir as pessoas, não crie uma chave. Crie um valor binário dentro de "Keyboard Layout".
    Roteiro:
    Botão direito do mouse em "Keyboard Layout"
    Clique em NOVO > VALOR BINARIO > Coloque o nome do valor: Scancode Map > Depois clique para abrir o valor e insira o valor: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 73 00 1d e0 00 00 00 00
    Clique OK e depois feche o Regedit > Reinicie o computador.
    Abraço,

  • Getting keyboard configuration

    I'm working on a game in which I need to handle the WASD keys as directionnal key (FPS style) on a QWERTY keyboard.
    When launching the game from another computer with different keyboard settings (let's say AZERTY), I'd like to have the keys for the same location (instead of W use Z and instead of A use Q).
    I can't put controls in a localization file since the same version of the game will be available in different area.

    I've had my T430s for about 2 weeks now and have been very pleased with it (after getting used to the new keyboard layout).  Configuration is i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and discrete graphics.  My only complaint is in battery life which brings me to something I learned today based on comments in similar threads on the board.  Battery life has been around 2 hours.  Today I went into the BIOS and changed the display setting from Optimus to the Intel graphics option only and battery life has improved to about 4 hours.  Is this common?
    Thanks,

    Are you running the Lenovo factory image, or a custom OS install?

  • Keyboard configuration app

    Does anybody know of any program that would let me configure my keyboard (under X11) like the gnome settings one does?
    I'm not running any DE and so I'd like a desktop agnostic solution
    Thanks

    Yes I could use Xmodmap (in fact I'm using it right now) but I want an easy app to change layouts and the like (i.e: swap caps_lock and ctrl... which I've already implemente with Xmodmap)
    Any suggestions?
    By the way Thanks for replying

  • Missing keyboard configuration

    hello,
    i live in switzerland. in the french-speaking region, we use german keyboard layouts (QWERTZ – neither AZERTY nor QWERTY) but we speak… french.
    maybe you already understood what my issue is: i'd like to use a QWERTZ layout with a french dictionary.
    any ideas how it could be done?
    thanks in advance

    Hey, thanks for the try, but this doesn't solve the problem at all:
    –international/language simply changes the language of the user interface. it doesn't affect sms writing.
    –international/region format affects only the way phone numbers, dates, etc are displayed
    –international/keyboards lets you choose between keyboards, but you can't unbind the keyboard from the corresponding dictionary.
    what we need is a german keyboard (qwertz) with a french dictionary. the french keyboard won't do at all (azerty). the best workaround is the french-canadian keyboard, which is an american layout (qwerty) with a french dictionary.
    well,

  • Keyboard configuration problem.

    Hi.
    I need help.
    I can't use key "del" on my kayboard. It just don't work.
    So i have to use alwais "Backspace".
    I tried to play with xorg.conf config - no success.
    xorg.conf:
    Section "InputDevice"
            Identifier  "Keyboard0"
            Driver      "keyboard"
            Option      "CoreKeyboard"
            Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
            Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
            Option "XkbLayout" "us"
            Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
    EndSection

    Ditch the nodeadkeys bit and just leave a double quotes, like so:
    Option "XkbVariant" ""
    If that doesn't make things right, maybe try pc105 instead of pc104

    Sorry, I feel like I should have done some more googling but it only occured to me while writing this post that other universities use eduroam. With a quick google search I found a solution.I will redeam myself by posting my solution.
    1. ip link set wlan0 up where wlan0 is your wireless interface you are trying to connect from.
    2. Create/edit /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf to look like:
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
    network={
    ssid="eduroam"
    scan_ssid="eduroam"
    proto=RSN
    key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
    pairwise=CCMP
    group=CCMP
    eap=PEAP
    identity="abc1@university_name.ac.uk"
    password="PASSWORD"
    ca_cert="/usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/GlobalSign_Root_CA.crt"
    phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
    3. As root:
    wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    4. then dhcpcd wlan0 again where wlan0 is the interface you are trying to connect from.

  • Diacritical marks for International Keyboard configurations

    So where are the accents (igrecs and igravs) for French? Also how can you download other International keyboards? And if you can, will they be missing diacritical marks above words too; such as the fáda for Irish?

    Hmm I just wanted the Irish keyboard to put a fáda over the vowels.
    You don't need any special keyboard to do that. áéíóú are available on the iPod Touch by holding down the base letter. A menu of accented versions of the base letter then appears which you can choose from.
    Anyway my cousin said the unicode for the french igrecs and igravs is probably different anyway so they wouldn't work as a substitute.
    French would work fine. The diacritics are exactly the same in Unicode.
    I was just curious if Apple has support for international keyboards.
    Yes, the full OS X has dozens of keyboard layouts.
    But I guess what the iPod touch has on it is very rudimentary so it wouldn't bother with most keyboards. I'm not even sure if I saw Korean on it. It seemed to only have Japanese.
    Because of the method the iPod Touch uses (i.e. an extra menu of variations for each character), there's no need for a lot of keyboards to cover a lot of languages. But it is still limited to W. European, E. European, and Japanese at this time. Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean, Chinese, Indic, Thai, Vietnamese, and various other languages cannot yet be input.

  • Change keyboard configuration for special keys

    Hi guys,
    I want to change the default behaviour for some special keys when running windows.
    I want the Cmd (Mac) key to be the Alt (Win) key and the Fn (Mac) key to be the Ctrl (Win) key.
    Is this possible?

    Thanks for your answer Fortuny, but it seems the Ctrl and Alt keys can't be re-mapped using that application... I'll keep searching
    Edit: You pointed me in the right direction I found a similar application to the MSKLC called SharpKeys, I was not able to edit the Fn key, but at least a could remap the left Cmd key to be the Alt key.

  • [HELP] rc.conf configuration - English System, with French keyboard

    Hi
    I just finished the first part of the Arch installation.
    I'm a french user, and I want to do something different than the last installation
    I would use my system (TTY, Desktop environment in ENGLISH) but I want use my french keyboard (Azerty).
    Also, I have some files (music, movie) who contains special caracters like "é,ç,è" and I would be able to play theses files using VLC, Sonata...
    I've looked the wiki, and i'm curently configuring my rc.conf but I don't know what put in.
    LOCALE="en_US.utf8"
    HARDWARECLOCK="localtime"
    USEDIRECTISA="no"
    TIMEZONE="US/Eastern"
    KEYMAP="us"
    CONSOLEFONT=
    CONSOLEMAP=
    USECOLOR="yes"
    Can you help me ? Gives me the right thing to add my rc.conf please ?
    Does the lines CONSOLEFONT, LOCALE, & CONSOLEMAP depend on my keyboard configuration ?
    Also need help to configure the locale.gen file
    Sorry for my english, I don't speak english well :S

    I use the same setup, and I found the archlinux.fr wiki to be really helpful.
    I have those set in rc. conf :
    KEYMAP="fr-latin9"
    CONSOLEFONT="lat9w-16"
    Then just read through those two pages, they contain everything you need. Just skip the parts about setting the french locale and such.

  • Edev configuring keyboard as mouse

    Hello,
    I'm having some trouble with edev. For some strange reason edev/xorg seems to be configuring my keyboard as a keyboard then as a mouse, forcing x & y axis and the rest. Also my power button as a keyboard it seems. Not sure how to stop this.
    My mouse also seems to be configuring multiple times. I'm using the razercfg tool to config that.
    Can anyone help?

    I'm currently using pointerkeys when I don't have a USB mouse with me because my touchpad seems electronically dead.
    I didn't want to merge the pointerkeys settings with the keyboard layout configuration so I created the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-pointerkeys.conf:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "PointerKeys"
    MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
    Option "XkbOptions" "keypad:pointerkeys"
    EndSection
    Pointerkeys are disabled by default at boot time, but you can simply enable them by pressing Shift+NumLock ( I think it's customizable).
    When the pointerkeys are enabled your numpad works as a three buttons mouse. Don't expect it to change the numlock setting, when you press Shift+Numlock the NumLock led stays exactly the same.
    1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 are used to move the cursor around
    5 is used to trigger a single click, or a double click if you're quick enough
    pressing 0 is like clicking and holding the button down, so you can use it for drag'n'drop. press 5 to release
    slash, asterisk and minus select which button are you going to click with 5.
    / selects the left button
    * the middle button
    - the right button
    The movements acceleration and so on can be customized, but I never tried.
    Pointerkeys are not very comfortable, but they're really helpful for emergencies as most GUI applications are not really keyboard-friendly.
