  • USB Mouse / Keyboard doesn't work after resuming from hibernate

I am using a USB device that splits out to 2 PS2 ports, one for a mouse, one for a keyboard. It works great, but when I put my X61 into hibernate, the mouse and keyboard do not work when I resume from hibernate.
I installed all the relevant patches and power manager drivers from the driver downloads page, but my mouse still doesn't work.
Can someone point me to the correct download or shed some light on this?
    Thank you!

I have this same problem with this same device. It is a "composite USB device".
What I've notice is that the problem happens mostly with USB 1.1 ports. When the device is connected to a USB 2.0 port the problem doesn't happen always.
It depends on the computer though. I added a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adaptor to my laptop that has USB 1.1 only. And when I connect the USB-to-PS/2 cable to the USB 2.0 my mouse sometimes work after suspend/hibernate but sometimes doesn't.
However, on my other desktop computer, which has integrated USB 2.0 ports, this problem has never happened (I haven't tested it exhaustively though).
This is a Windows bug of course. Everything related to USB 1.1 support is buggy in Windows. One more example is the annoying (and possibly catastrophic) "Delayed write error" that appears when you use a external hard drive plugged to a USB 1.1 port.
I guess M$ is focusing their efforts on making USB 2.0 to work well and they have forgotten about USB 1.1. Or it could a problem related to "USB composite devices", hard to know.

  • Satellite P845-BKS Keyboard doesn't respond

    Hi!
I've got some problems with keyboard. It respond very slow
    or doesn't respond for pressing.
If I don't see forte scee it loos lke that.
Some keys look like not pressed.
If I press stronger situation is the same.
It necessary to check all characters and the speed of printing
    bacames too slow.
At service center master said that he doesn't see any problems.
He said that we should get used to the keyboard.
    And re-install Windows.
But I've got the same problems.
    Can anyone have any advice?

    > When can I see version of BIOS?
You can find the BIOS version within the BIOS settings.
To access the BIOS you have to press F2 while powering up the unit.
But I doubt that BIOS update would improve the keyboard functionality.
In my opinion you should test an external USB keyboard.
If the external keyboard would work properly, the issue might be related to the internal keyboard.

  • My iPad 2 keyboard doesn't respond to keystrokes.  What is the issue?

My wife was trying to activate cellular data on her iPad 2, but the keyboard didn't respond to strokes when info was requested.  So, I went to email and tried to write an email and the same thing happened.  I have restarted it, but problem persists.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Wireless keyboard doesn't work after latest security update

    Hi,
I update MacOS 10.6.7 with latest security update and my wirelles keyboard is connected, but keys not work, capslock light doesn't change. I try charge battery, then I replace new battery, but it has no effect. I connect keyboard to another Mac with Leopard system and there's no problem... There's some solution? Thanks

Try repairing permissions with Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility.
There select First Aid.  After that select the hard drive within Disk Utility's window.  Finally click on the button that says Repair Permissions.  A reboot may be necessary to finish the work when it is done.
    Ignore any errors reported.

  • Help - My macbook keyboard doesn't work after being sprayed with windex.

My mom cleaned my keyboard with windex.  I'm assuming that this short-circuited something or other so the keyboard isn't being processed.  Anyways, I let it dry out for a day and some of the keys work now, but the macbook randomly shuts off.
Should I let it dry off for a little longer?
Do I need to replace the sheet underneath the keyboard?
    What should I do?
    Thanks.

I have a new TX2 1300 also and i have the same exact problem.  When I use the touchsmart program in laptop mode - no issues with the keyboard.  BUT if I use the Touchsmart program while rotated in tablet mode - the keyboard turns off and is not usable until I reboot my laptop. Very repeatable.  I also verified I have the latest BIOS.  After I read your post yesterday I called the HP support and they were not able to reproduce the issue on their lab compter (a TX2Z 1000 - NOT a TX2Z 1300).  I updated my bios with the tech on the phone just to pacify them - and I still have the issue.  The tech then checked her database and amazingly enough HP knows of this issue and is working on a patch for the Touchsmart program.  They are going to email me when the patch is ready.
I have another issue - and I am curious if you see it too.  My screen goes out of calibration constantly.  Basically I lose the touch sensitivity right around the WIndows start button on the lower right part of my screen.  Affects both capacitive (finger) and digital (pen).  I have to run the reset progam in the NTRIG Touch Tuning utility in the windows control panel to get that part of my screen to become responsive again.  Very disapointing - have you seen any issues with the touch screen sensitivity on any parts of the screen ?
    Thanks,
    Kevin K..

  • Apple BT keyboard doesn't work after OS update

When I booted up a day after installing the latest Maverick update, my Apple BT keyboard no longer pairs with my iMac. It paired with a laptop at the Apple store, and the BT mouse still works. A clean reinstall of the OS hasn't helped.

This is sort of basic stuff, but maybe it will help:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2662
If that does not help, I would (pain, I know) bundle everything up and take it to an Apple store genius bar for diagnosis.
FWIW, I have not seen posts that indicate any Bluetooth connectivity problems with OS X 10.9.2...

  • New apple wireless keyboard doesn't work after upgrade to leopard on mini

I am posting this because I have not seen anybody else post this issue, but it is fixed at this point.
I installed the new apple ultra slim wireless keyboard on my mac mini about a month ago...was working great...until I upgraded to Leopard. The keyboard would connect, and the esc, function, and arrow keys would work great. However, none of the letter, number, or enter keys would work. This was all observed using the 'show keyboard viewer', which is accessible by allowing 'show input menu in menu bar' from the 'international' system preference pane.
I rebooted many times and even updated to the latest leopard patch set.
During this whole time, the wireless mighty mouse has worked without issue.
I removed the device and added several times with no change. I even moved the wireless keyboard to my G5 and it worked great over there.
After a few days of trying various things to no avail, I was finally able to get the keys to work, but I am not sure why. I had a wired keyboard connected and kept going back and forth between the wireless and wired keyboard and all of a sudden it started working. Very strange.

this problem is fixed, but if anybody has an idea what happened, I would like to know.

  • XFCE panel not responding after suspend

I've installed XFCE and slim, when I wake up suspended computer XFCE panel behave weird. I can't run any application from launcher in panel, but I can switch between running apps or open panel properties. I think it might be problem with suspending.
    Some stuff I've noticed:
    - I set in xfce power manager and xfce session that computer is locked before suspend but after wake up isn't locked

You don't have to restart all of xfce, just the panel.
    killall -v xfce4-panel
then restart it in a terminal to catch any errors
    xfce4-panel
If you're lucky there'll be errors in the terminal when the panel becomes unresponsive and you can chase them down.

  • Keyboard doesn't respond at login window... works in Single User mode

I have a G4 xServe (server 10.3) that won't accept keyboard input at login window, but the same keyboard, usb port, works fine when I'm booted into Single User Mode.
Booting into Single User mode, something interesting gets posted during boot:
    "AppleCPUThermo got unsupported command"
    Any thoughts?

Did you find a resolution to this issue? After I installed the latest security update to OSX Server 10.4.8 I am now experiencing the same problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If it suggests that you install iPhoto again, install iPhoto again. In your Macs Box that it came in there should be 2 Discs, one is an Applications CD (You need this one) And another is the Mac OS X.
Insert your Applications CD and hold C while the computer is starting up, then you will be walked through the installation of Applications.

  • PowerMac Dual 1.25- hangs, doesn't respond, after installing Leopard

Installed Leopard and computer continually hangs ..stops responding. Try re-installing leopard (3 times) with no change in results.
Also tried teh Dsicussion Forum's suggestion to change of DiVX Networks folder... "sudo mv "/Library/Application Support/DivXNetworks" "/Library/Application Support/DivXNetworks.prev" ..It doesn't exist in my computer.
Ran disk utility's "repair permissions" and got following message - "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Remote Managemetn/ARDAgent...."
No other indications as to why or when will the computer hangs..not respond.
Apple's help on what seems a pretty large number of Leopard hang and non-respond issues would be greatly appreciated.

Wanted to add the following to my post....
By hang or computer not responding, I mean the beach ball shows up and nothing happens.
    - Force quit doesn't do anything. Application or document remains open....Most times Force Quit doesn't recognize app or application as "not responding."
    - Doesn't eject disk 50% of the time.
    - Can hang or not respond at any time or any conditions...no pattern as to number of application are open. It stop responding with one or five apps or documents opened
    - Apple feedback is not working ...won't forward or send problems ...it hangs
    - Tried loading software with no other hardware attached - made no difference.
    - 75% of computer shutdowns result in computer in computer not responding and having to do a "hard shutdown."

  • T420(4177-CTO bought only 3days) keyboard doesn't respond well

When I hit the right arrow bottum for 10 times. It only responded 8~9 times. Will this problem in the warranty? How long will this fix takes? I really need to use this computer these days.

You are in UK right? This is most likely an issue with the keyboard. If you contact warranty support they should help you out.

  • Wireless keyboard doesn't work after repair.

It was a bunch of other troubles that lead to this point.
Macally external wouldn't pic up by firewire. Used Bluetooth keyboard to browse web for help.
Downloaded from Macally's site 'Firewire Enabler' using option+click since safari disabled my regular click and download method
followed instructions for install of 'Firewire Enabler'(put it in the extensions folder).
Crash On startup with an error and grey restart screen of destruction.
Installed OSX on another drive, keyboard wouldn't pic up..... went for a wireless usb gateway keyboard
located the 'Firewire Enabler' file and deleted it.
Restarted system and booted back from old drive.
    Locate USB something error,
Bluetooth keyboard neither lights up when turned on nor connects....
    what do?

    Hello:
I have no clue what you have done, but you seem to have piled things on top of one another.
I would probably start over. Your profile indicates you are running an older version of OS X. (10.4). If that is the case, I would do an archive and install (after uninstalling whatever third party stuff you have added).

  • IDVD  doesn't respond after it says "Done" at the end of Burning

Firstly, I have burn many, many, MANY DVD's before in iDVD (for school camps, special occasions, etc.) and have met this problem before, but in a different way. Those times I was burning about 20 copies, and after about 7 or 8, it would say this problem. My solution was to press cancel, then start burning again IMMEDIATELY, and it would work again.
The Problem: that when burning a DVD (it's a project on Apple as a company. Kinda ironic, because it's all about how fantastic they are, and then this happens). What happens, is that iDVD processes the movies, menus, slideshows, etc. and then gets to the "Burn" part of the burning. Here, the process bar is slowly moving forward, and after about 5 minutes of burning (very normal for my mac) it ejects; BUT!: the menu left on iDVD stays on the "Done" screen forever (at the end of the burning, the remaining time is Done). I checked on my other computer and again on my mac, and it is positively blank (the drive also didn't make as much noise as it usually does when burning). This may have something to do with that it is the first time I have exported a Keynote to a QuickTime, and then put it into iDVD (and I also put some "Get a Mac" ads off the Apple website on it). I asked a good friend of mine about this, and suggested that I put the ads into iMovie '09 and then export into iDVD, just so that they are all definitely the same format, but it didn't work AGAIN! So I put the ads into Keynote, deleted them from iDVD, re-exported them and failed to burn AGAIN X 2! HHEELLPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update: The problem still occurs, but I had the project due in today, so I put the quicktime of the Keynote on a flash-drive and ran it off my School computer (not a mac... unfortunatley).
