Keyboard freezes in msg app

Hi
When typing an sms msg sometimes the keyboard 'freezes' for a couple of seconds. If I keep typing there is no indication of anything happening but after about 10 seconds all the letters I pressed suddenly appear on screen. I tried a back-up and restore, a reset and turning the ph off with the home and off buttons but still no good.
The keypad in the other apps,(mail etc) are OK, it's only the messages app
Thanks
Geoff

power cycle, reset all settings, if still having problems import photos, transfer purchases, sync contacts calendars and notes. then restore as new. if problem persists get replacement at apple store or call in for mail in repair

  • Keyboard Freezing on Multiple Apps

Not sure what caused this. Been running everything fine for months. I did do the most recent update (to version 4.5.602.MB810.Verizon.en.US), but it worked fine for a few days.
I'm finding my keyboard freezing, in all applications (Handcent, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail), when I try to use any form of punctuation mark (period, comma, question mark, etc). It happens sporadically and seems to have no common denominator. If it happens while replying in Handcent (quick text mode or full app mode), I can still hit send - but then it ends up sending duplicates of the text message. Facebook it will post the comment only once it seems.
As it's across multiple apps, this seems more like a system issue. I've gone through and cleared my cache and data for the multi-touch keyboard. I've also downloaded a third party app to clear out all my cache as I, too, had the problem with the disappearing keyboard. But none of this seems to fix it.
Any suggestions? Is there a way to rollback to the previous Android version, even though it worked fine for a few days?

Try disabling vibrate/sound on keypress if you have it enabled.
I've also heard that clearing the Learned Words from your keyboard app will help with this as well.
The easiest way that would work would be to get a keyboard app from the market. There are plenty of free ones that are great. I personally use Smart Keyboard Pro and love it. It's got a free trial version to see if you like it.
Going back to a previous version is a violation of this forum and cannot be discussed here, although there are other Android forums that allow it.

  • Keyboard freezing with new upgrade

I have had my phone upgraded for 24 hours, and the keyboard freezes every time I try to type something. It is not app specific. I have restarted my phone many times, along with syncing it with my computer. Syncing has resulted in an even slower phone and my apps not even loading. I really do regret the update and want iOS 6 back! Anyone else having issues with their keyboard, or know how to fix it? My phone is pretty much useless at the moment, and it's only 2 months old!!!

i upgraded my iphone5 to ios7 - experncing the same issue. keyboard freezes on all apps. it takes about 4 to 5 seconds for the text to appear and then freezes again.....
should not have upgraded... it is annoying.

  • Iphone 6 freeze on keyboard change and messaging apps

everytime i switch my keyboard from italian to emoj for the emoticon my iphone freeze for a while (4/5 seconds).
The touchscreen doesn't work, only home button for switch the app to another one.
This problem happen in all messaging apps (imessage, whatsapp, telegram, etc...)
The same problem (freezing) of messaging app happen when i switch from an app to another i.e. From mail to whatsapp...
    how can i fix?
    tried restore With no success
    thanks

In the last couple of weeks (and nothing has changed) - I noticed that my iPhone 6 will remain in landscape mode if I lift it up too quickly.  It's not frozen - but it's not detecting that it is upright.  The workaround seems to be lower the phone to a horizontal position and then lift it again - slowly - and that seems to restore the portrait mode.  I could understand if this started happening immediately after an update - but it did not - it started about 2 weeks ago.  Typically the app that I use in landscape mode (the most) is youtube.  I'm wondering if it is something with the YouTube app - but I don't recall any recent updates for it either.

  • Keyboard freezes when typing on iPad.

is  anyone else experiencing the screen keyboard freezing when typing a Google search or on an Internet blog?

To things that seem to have helped folks with this problem is a reset of all settings followed by a reset of the device.
    1. Use the Settings app to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    2. Reset your device like this. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
    Hopefully that fixes your problem.

  • Iphone 6 keyboard freezes when horizontal

this happens randomly, I have Iphone 6 with ios8.1, keyboard freezes when phone is horizontal.  Has been this way ever since getting the phone, started on ios 8.01.

Do you have a specific app that might cause it to go funny, try un-syncing apps then see if it sires it, if it does bring them back one by one. i had a similar issue with an app that caused screen to lock out.

  • Swype Keyboard Freezing... X2

So the other issue I have had is with the Swype keyboard freezing up on my Droid X2.  It gets to where the keyboard doesnt even show up and if you press the screen there is like blue splotches where you are pressing. (sorry that is the best way I can describe it)  I ended up just switching back to the regular keyboard and it works fine, although I do notice lag when the phone is plugged in and charging, but I just unplug it if I need to text, so no big deal... but I was wondering if there was a fix for the Swype keyboard so I could use it again....

Intermittent problems like this & the other thread you have regarding "Notifications go silent" are very hard to solve. Running in SAFE MODE is only 1 of the tools used to try to put the finger on a rogue APP causing your grief. So what can be done? These are the usual steps, in this order, to get you to a properly functioning phone (in My experieince - others may disagree.)
    - Clear System Cache, using the Power up method to get to "System Menu"
    - Just Uninstall any APPS that you installed around or shortly before you started seeing the issue.
    - Factory Reset -- but Turn OFF the option to automatically restore your Apps after FR. (Settings / Privacy / Automatic restore). Also, make sure you FORMAT the SD Card before your FR.  After a FR, login & TEST for several days before downloading any 3rd Party APPS. And then only a few at a time. Oh, and if you DO go down this path, make sure you have a list of all of your 3rd Party apps before starting the FR -- the process will "forget" which free apps you have in Market.
FYI, mine (and many others) is running flawlessly at this point. At least almost; I have the auto-power-back-up issue but that's more of an annoyance due to GB and I just use Sleep mode to power down now.
Let us know if you need any direction in doing any of those steps or you can't find them using SEARCH.  Good luck.

  • PLAYBOoK KEYBOARD FREeZING

    Hi
In the last roughly 2 weeks my keyboard has had a huge increase in episodes of freezing and sticking. The browser freezes too, but less often.  The sticking is where the keyboard first becomes absurdly slow. Press back space and literally 3 seconds go by then it moves. If you keep pressing it once it moves it sometimes does all the backspaces you pressed or all the letters.  Ratatat-tat like a machine gun or a robot burping. I call that sticking.other times the keyboard or browser just freeze. Other apps work! I can play a game I just can't browse. Sometimes,  and this is very recent, the onscreen off control won't respond. I touched the little battery pic and nothing happened. Freaked me out. That was during a browser freeze.
When these things happen I do a restart with the green onscreen button. Especially with keyboard sticking, this nearly always works. Less often I do a turn off with the red onscreen button.  When those wouldn't work I used the physical off button and it was fine.
The reason I'm writing is the sticky keyboard is almost every day now. A month ago it was nothing like this. Oh the predictive text and individual buttons also sometimes stick. Sometimes for barely a second or the predictive text needs pressing a second time. Anyway I only began using the computer heavily this past September when I got the Internet at home. But the constant reset business is only in the last month.  And I'm wondering if it could be a virus or a worm.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I did everything you both recommended and I think my problem(s) is solved!  My PB is not only MUCH faster now, but everything seems to be back to normal.  It hasnt got hung up on anything tonight and I haven't even had to reboot!    I'm thrilled!  Thank you both very much!!!  You're time and knowledge is GREATLY appreciated!

  • [SOLVED] Laptop keyboard freezes randomly.

I have Arch dual booted with Windows 8.1 on an Asus K53SM laptop.
    Laptop specs are:
    * Intel i5 2nd Gen @ 2.5 GHz
    * 8GB RAM
    * 750 GB Hard disk
    * nvidia GT630M 2GB
Right after installing Arch, I installed GNOME as the DE and everything was working fine. Recently, I uninstalled GNOME and installed KDE. I'm experiencing random keyboard freezes. I've tested it with a USB keyboard, so it is not a hardware issue I guess.
    * The [<Super> + S] combination to display all workspaces works fine.
    * So does the <Alt> + F2, to write commands, but the keys don't work (so can't type anything there).
These freezes are totally random, and the keyboard works fine after 1-2 minutes. Here is the output for Xorg.0.log ->

I haven't been experiencing the issue for some hours.
The issue occurred more frequently when I was compiling something. When I tried to reproduce the issue, it didn't occur.
The interesting thing to note is that I updated the system twice in the past 2 days. I checked the pacman log and saw that xorg-server-common, xorg-server, xorg-server-devel were among the upgraded packages. I guess they were causing the problem.
I'll need to test for a couple of days though before I consider the issue to be resolved. I'll update if the issue persists.

  • IPhone 4 - the issues photos taken not being saved, photos are deleting by themselves, recent calls not appering, msg app keeps closing, what's wrong with my iPhone?

My iPhone 4 started playing up a few days ago.
First it deleted 250 photos ( of my sons birth) then next day it deleted another 50.
Now it won't let me take any photos receive any photo msg's and save photos.
Aswell it has started to get out of msg app as you hit send for the msg. And it won't show any calls made or received in the last few days?
    How do I fix it??????

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Macbook Keyboard freezing

    Hi All
I get my macbook in just under 3 days it is a white 2.00Ghz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 120GB Hard drive model, it will also be running Mac OS X Leopard
I was wondering if the keyboard freezing problem occurs on all Macbook's & Macbookpro's models or is it a certain some, of are all of them doomed.

  • Need Urgent Help in PM8M-V H problem - keyboard freeze

    Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie in this forum and I really need urgent help with my motherboard.
    My PC specification:
    Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz
    MSI PM8M-V H W7104VMS v3.4 022206 14:32:17
    1GB(512MB x 2) Kingston PC3200 400MHz
Seagate SATA II 320GB ST3320620SV (set with jumper to support SATA I)
Power Color ATI Radeon 9550 256MB
    Lite-On DVDRW SHM-165P6S
    USB mouse, PS/2 Keyboard
I really appreciate if anyone can help to guide me in solving my problem. My keyboard tends to freeze at the part where it says "Press any key to boot from CD". This limits me to do anything until I'm totally loaded into Windows.  Thus, disable me to perform any formating and fresh installation of OS. However, the keyboards works fine at the begining of the POST and in BIOS. Is there any settings in BIOS that i should perform?.....
However, I realise in order to get through the foresaid message without the the keyboard freeze up is by keep on trying to boot up and shut down until it works (but only work once, then hv to try again), but this is not a solution as if what if I wanted to have 2 OS?... I cant use the keyboard to choose either of the OS installed. I have tried to change the RAM, change keyboard, use the build in VGA, or even remove the motherboard from the ATX casing - result: still have the same problem. What should I do??.. I have look around the forum for answers but there isnt any (I hope I didnt miss any). Is there any problem with my motherboard, or its BIOS, or any of the harware compatibility or etc..... what actually can I do?
I do not dare to perform any BIOS update Unnecessary (it seems that many have problems with BIOS problem in this forum) and moreover i think my BIOS is the most up-to-date. I cant find any new version in the net. Anyway I will check this topic frequently as possible to hope for any solution. What is the best solutions?
    Thanks.

But the thing that makes me wonder is, my BIOS version is the latest but why this type of problem occurs??
What version of BIOS should I use?? Any recommendation ??
    Thanks.

  • Keyboard freezing when forwarding a seached mail

I am on OS 10.1.0.273, device Q10. My email is linked with my enterprise mail (exchange).
Whenever I do a search, then forward one of the searched emails and start typing a message in the forwarded email, my keyboard freezes and no longer responds. Even after closing the email and trying other applications, the keyboard remains frozen and inactive. I have to restart the device to get the keyboard to work again.
Is anyone else having this issue?

it also locks up my use of the address bar in teh browser and Contact list, but sometimesit lets me use the keyboard within a webpage if I access it from a bookmark
Hello DarynThompson and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
To clarify, your keyboard is freezing when you attempt to search for an email as well or does your keyboard freeze in other applications?
What is the software version of your device under Settings>About>OS?
