Keyboard functions not working

Why don't some of the keyboard commands not work anymore since upgrading? For instance, pressing and holding the space bar does not move the page around with the hand tool. Holding the shift button doesn't keep things on a straight path when moving them anymore. Some keyboard commands not working in Photoshop either. Can someone help?

So both the OS and InDesign are clean installs on this computer, not in-place upgrades or migrations, right?
The newer Mac OSX versions use some of the same shortcuts as ID by default, I believe, and that can be turned off in the system prefs, but I also think I remember seeing some reports that the hand tool shorcut doesn't work when some browsers (Safari, Firefox?) are open, or possibly Mac Mail.

Wireless Keyboard functions not working after upgrade

I have a HP Pavillion Elite m9080a desktop with a wireless keyboard 5189URF Running originaly on Vista but last week I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. My problem is that the feature buttons on my keyboard are not working ie no volume control, CD/DVD controls not working, typing is ok. Also the caps lock / number lock icon is not appearing on the task bar. Also on my Monitor w2207h the two USB outlets are not working either. I need help please to restore these functions.

Yes.. its for windows vista.. run it with recomended settings..
if it dosent work then try following..
go to your device manager and see can you see some devices named " unknows devices"
if yes then >
Try following some steps
go to your device manager > right click on unknown devices > go to Properties > then Details tag
select from drop down list called Hardware ID's (PCI\VEN...) Copy it via right click...
and search it according to it on google or any serch engine you will get the right drivers..

Keyboard + mouse functions not working

After updating InDesign CC 6-days ago started to have issue with all keyboard + mouse functions not working ex. shift key does not constrain proportions when scaling. A restart fixed the issue thr first time. Today I have installed latest update and shut down and restarted several times does not fix issue. On a MacBook pro running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.

Disconnected extrenal devices ie keyboard and Wacom Bamboo tablet and restarted computer seemed to correct the issue.

The volume keys on my Logitech K760 wireless keyboard do not work with my 2.3 GHz, Intel Core i5 Mac mini which runs Mac OS X 10.7.4. Anyone know how to correct this without having to re-code firmware?

My first post to the Apple Support Community so it looks like all I wanted to know is covered in the title. The research I have done led me to solutions that I am not comfortable trying for fear of irreparably damaging my keyboard and/or Mac mini. Does anyone have a simpler solution? Please? Hellooooo?

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to work the above applications. I thought that i had managed to assign the appropriate function keys in Spark to their volume counterparts, but it had no effect. Below is a screen shot. Do you see anything amiss?

Finder keyboard shortcuts not working (cmd-c, cmd-v, cmd-a)

All of a sudden, the edit menu cmd functions are not working, such as cmd-v, cmd-c, cmd-a.
Cmd-p still works.
Using a bluetooth keyboard, all the commands work.
But the built-in keyboard will not work for these functions, even under a newly created user account.
Thoughts?

Have you tried searching for Cut in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog? Perhaps is somehow got assigned to a new command.
you may also want to try deleting your preferences. Hold down Option+Shift when launching Premiere.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

OneNote 2013 - Locking Section keyboard shortcut not working

I have OneNote 2013 full PC version. I have a notebook stored somewhere in live.net that has a password protected section.
After I unlock the section when I want to lock it using the Keyboard Shortcut (CTRL+ALT+L) it does not work. I have tried every combination of alt and ctrl keys and even trying to shift the L sometimes.
The only thing that immediately locks the section is to open the Password Protection sidebar and clicking the button for "Lock All".
How can I get this keyboard functionality to work correctly?
I saw one or two posts about this in the Office 2010 forum, but never any answers.
Please recommend next step?

I tried what you described here and I was able to lock the section by using the Keyboard Shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+L). So you might have to try something first to see if this is a single issue or a OneNote issue.
Add a new section to a notebook for testing. Now add a password to that section. After confirmation that the password has been set try the Keyboard Shortcut after that. If that doesn't work you know the issue is a OneNote issue instead of a notebook issue.
That's important to know.
You don't have to click the password section to get it locked, you can also navigate to another section to lock the section that has been password protected. You can view these settings in File-Options-Advanced. My guess is that you already know that.
A last test you can try is resetting the ribbon. This will reset the ribbon to it's original layout. I don't know if you have made any customizations but if you did you will lose those so be careful! You can reset the ribbon by going to File - Options -
Customize Ribbon. On the right side of that dialog you will see a small button 'Reset'. Click that and try to use the Keyboard Shortcut again. Worth a shot.

Insert key of keyboard is not working after installing firefox

I was using IE8 as my browser before but recently changed to Firefox. My keyboard was functioning perfectly before I installed Firefox. Now whenever I type text (mostly when composing a message/draft in Google's gmail or Hotmail) the Insert key of the keyboard is not working. This is just not a problem in Gmail or Hotmail but with all programmes!!

Firefox is always in insert mode and doesn't support overwriting text, so you will have to use the Delete or Backspace key to remove unwanted characters.

Keyboard is not working on my g72-261us laptop.

I am trying to determine why the keyboard is not working all the time. once windows 7 is up and running it doees not work. remote usb keyboard does not work either. on startup (by pressing esc key), i see the boot menu but since keyboard is not working f9 f11 cannot be used to run revert to factory setting.

I grasp that your keyboard is not responding. You connected an external keyboard and it also did not function.
Has there been any recent changes to your system?
Have you tried running The HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates and resolving issues?
Have you tried Using Automated Troubleshooting (Windows 7) to aid with resolving issues?

Touchsmart 520-1047c Mouse and Keyboard will not work after sleep mode

I have an issue which I need some help with. When my computer goes to sleep the wireless mouse and keyboard will not work unless I restart, however each one will wake the system up but will not operate after that. I have tried just making the display go to sleep, both go to sleep but that makes no difference same issue occurs. The only work around I have found is going into the power settings and turning the sleep mode off for booth the computer and display. This does not solve the problem it just masks it. New batteries, unplugged and replugged the dongle, updated the bios and all drivers. Don't know what else to try. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Keyboard trackpad not working

All of a sudden my keyboard and trackpad don't work on my Macbook. USB keyboards and mice work fine. I took off the keyboard and tried it on another Macbook and it worked fine. Don't know if any recent updates or firmware changes have been done. Any ideas of how to fix or is this a motherboard issue?

Hi today we were having a yard sale. A family member needed to use a computer and used mine. When i got it back from they left in a hurry.
Well I opened it clicked a few things with my "wireless mightymouse" and went to type keyboard did not work so i tried the track pad. So i found this post looking on the web. looked other placess. thought i would shut it down as soon as it went off it immediately turned back on. so i tried again. no luck so i took out the batery unpluged it. Then it would not turn on. Apple is sending a box by monday. I told them i think it is a logicboard="motherboard" problem.
But till then im going to a computer store to obtian my data off my MacBook

Apple USB keyboard does not work with one internal usb port

hope someone can help me to solve my problem. I have a MPB13 retina late 2013 since something like 3 months. I have additional screen (dell), usb wired keyboard (apple) and BT magic mouse.
Since a few days, my usb keyboard does not work well. It only want to work properly when plugged to the rights side usb port internal port and not anymore on the left one. It also work on a usb external concentrator. Before, I had no problem, it worked perfectly. There was no problem such as cofee on it...
After searching the web on such problem, I tries a few things such as:
I tried the keyboard on another computer (windows): works fine
I tried usb stick and external DVD reading on the left internal usb ports: works fine
I switch the MPB off and turn it back on: the usb keyboard still does not work on the left usb port
I tried the SMC and PRAM reset : nothing
Any idea ??

External USB keyboard does not work properly with T60 after 2.26-1.07 BIOS upgrade.
It does the same with or without the docking station.
Anyone else bumped into this problem yet?
Has someone found any fixes for this?

Try uninstalling all USB hub devices from the device manager and reinstalling them again, particularly the keyboard's.
v2.26 is supposed to fix the issue according to lenovo:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-63024

Not able to sign into Blackberry Protect. Backup and Restore function not working. Message is: "Your device isn't associated with a Blackberry ID." My Blackberry Messenger and Blackberry World is working fine so I am sure its not an ID issue on the phone. I can sign into Link, Blackberry.com and Protect. I see my device in Protect but cannot send messages or view it on a map. Times out with cannot reach device message. BB Protect on Device has a swirling circle beside the on/of switch. Cannot turn off.
I have deleted Link and re-installed.
I have reset phone to default(factory) and signed in.
OS level is 10.2.1.3062
BB Link is 1.2.3.56

I managed to figure this out myself. I had to delete the device from the Blackberry Protect website. protect.blackberry.com. I wiped my device again and signed in with my Blackberry ID. I dont know if the step of wiping was necessary as I did not try my backup with the current configuration on the device following the delete. Restore is in progress for me!

Hello need help on weird happenings to my keyboard..
Before i upgrade the Operating System From Windows XP to Windows 7 the Hp Mini 110 is working fine..
All keys on keyboard is working and touchpad is also working.
But after upgrading to windows 7 some keys on keyboard are not working like z,x,c,v, left ctrl and other more keys..
what do you think is the problem??
Hardware Issue? or Driver Issue?

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand some of the keys on your keyboard are not working after installing Windows 7.
I do not see any drivers available for your notebook for Windows 7 on the HP website, so their might be some compatibility issues as it's going to rely on Windows update to find current drivers. This doesn't mean it will not work, but I cannot say for sure that it will.
Try this:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Clock, Language, and Region.
4. Click Region and Language.
5. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
6. Click Change keyboards...
7. On the General tab, make sure English (United States) - US is selected in the Default input language field.
8. Click on any other keyboards in the Installed services list.
9. Click Remove.
10. Repeat for all other non-English (United States) keyboards.
You may also want to try rolling back to Windows XP and see if the issue persists. It is possible the issue is coincidental and not the direct result of the update to Windows 7.
