Keyboard Going Crazy.

Hi, I own a MacPro 06/07 edition...
I recently upgraded or downgraded (whatever) my videoboard from a x1900xt to a GT8800 because I couldnt stand the noise anymore... so far so good and silent...
what happened reasonably after that, I have no Idea if it has any connection or not, but My keyboard
on the Numpad part is not working the numbers, only Enter, +,-,*,/,=,Clear, Volume controls and Eject control, soh only the numbers aren't, and if I pess 0 it Blocks the computer then I gotta repress "321." and play with it until it goes back to normal, its SOOO WEIRD, and never happened before, and I really use Numpad a lot on Photoshop application and others... so its really a Must, to have the Numpad working properly.
What could have caused that? any configuration on the Keyboard? I didnt even played with it, even though I went there and restore to default, and still is doing that. I can't use the numbers...

Hi, tough to tell at the moment.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

• Keyboard going crazy, Insanely slow G3 PowerMac

Posted this on MR, will post here too:
Hey guys, my friend is having trouble with her PowerMac G3. It is going insanely slow and the keyboard is in all caps and adding random letters/numbers in. I gave her instructions to reset nvram etc. That didnt work. A typical IM with her now:
Friend 1:53KERWYBOAERDFS BEROKERW
Me 1:53 huh?
Friend 1:53COMPUTER VERY VERYW SLOW
The conversation was really amusing
Anyways, I'm having her try Safe Boot now, though I suspect that won't work. If anyone has any idea on what to do, please do post.
Thanks in advance!! She runs 10.3.9

Hi, Steve -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
To avoid wasting time fruitlessly seeking a software solution when there may be none, the first thing to do would be to verify whether the problem may be in the keyboard, such as from a liquid spill.
Ask your friend to try using a different keyboard - if the problem goes away, then the fault lies in the keyboard itself.
Another test - boot the machine to a CD. If the problem goes away, then it is software based; if it does not go away while booted to the CD, the fault is in the hardware.

• Keyboard going nuts

I posted a topic about a water spill issue a few weeks ago, and I'm telling you that this laptop gives me anxiety and depression...The keyboard must be damaged, here are some symptoms :
- when i press some numbers, i hear a beeping sound, same beep when you press too many buttons at a time
- then the keyboard goes crazy and starts typing on its own like : zero nine one one one one one one one one etc.... and doesnt stop. the browser goes full screen and it opens inspect element
-after i make it stop numbers except five and six dont work.
- i also noticed that after the water spill the power button didnt have lights but the light came back on and the problem started
I really apreciate your help, and I hope i can fix this without having to replace the keyboard because without the numbers, u cant play video games or type some pretty important things

It will depend on the availability and shipping cost to your place and how flexible you are with the keyboard layout (if you look for a seldom layout expect to pay more).
Check for Ebay and alikes for any T410/T420/T510/T520/W510/W520 keyboard.

• My keyboard occasionally goes crazy, not allowing me to type. Also, cursor goes crazy and opens pages and windows at will. Help!

My typing cursor frequently goes crazy, not allowing me to type and jumping from place to place, deleting letters. Suddenly, a line I have typed will be highlighted and deleted at will. Also, mouse cursor moves at will, opening multiple pages in seconds. Help! What could be causing this, and how can I stop it?
I've had my Macbook pro for over a year and it has never done this before. Restarting the computer fixes the problem temporarily.

My first thought was the hard drive and OS has a built in Sudden Motion Sensor whcih will stop the hard drive heads from crashing into the platters when the computer is moved suddenly. This does work most of the time and could cause some of the tings you are seeing.
But then after reading more of your first post it seems your system and drive is doing some very strange things.
It would be best to first take it into an Apple Genius Bar and have it looked at. They can run tests on it and since it is still in the original 1 year warranty this should not cost you anything even if something needs to be replaced.
You can also run the Apple Hardware Test on it your self by connecting it to the Net by Ethernet cable and booting holding down the d key or the Command+d keys. That will boot the computer from the Apple internet servers and load the AHT.
Good Luck.

• When using Live View, site looks great, browser testing goes crazy

I am creating a new website (and I am really unexperienced with Dreamwaver CS5). But when I check my site using "Live View" everything looks great, the way it is supposed to. Then when I go to test it in my browswer (Primary browser is Chrome) it goes crazy: I at first noticed that I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml I did delete the first line of code already that the .asp file created as it kept giving me an error on line 1.
Then I tried to do a spry drop-down menu bar, which I have deleted since I thought I was doing something wrong with that and I should just stick to what I half-way know.
If I were to preview the template page it gives me this error:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 150 at column 76: error parsing attribute name
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
Here is line 150:
if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}}
If I were to test the index.xhtml page in the browser, it ignores most images (all but one), and the first nav-bar (an editable region) appears to the left instead of under the header. The layout is totally ignored and everything is on the left-hand side of the screen instead of in a two column layout.
I am not testing this on a server just off of my computer.
I am assuming that the error has something to do with the .asp file I first did and when I resaved it, since I don't know what I would be looking for, is still in there screwing it up.
Here is the code from the template page:

1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all left instead of all right) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

Instructions

Be aware that the CSS for these layouts is heavily commented. If you do most of your work in Design view, have a peek at the code to get tips on working with the CSS for the fixed layouts. You can remove these comments before you launch your site. To learn more about the techniques used in these CSS Layouts, read this article at Adobe's Developer Center - http://www.adobe.com/go/adc_css_layouts.

Clearing Method

Because all the columns are floated, this layout uses a clear:both declaration in the .footer rule. This clearing technique forces the .container to understand where the columns end in order to show any borders or background colors you place on the .container. If your design requires you to remove the .footer from the .container, you'll need to use a different clearing method. The most reliable will be to add a <br class="clearfloat" /> or <div class="clearfloat"></div> after your final floated column (but before the .container closes). This will have the same clearing effect.

Logo Replacement

An image placeholder was used in this layout in the .header where you'll likely want to place a logo. It is recommended that you remove the placeholder and replace it with your own linked logo.

Logo Replacement

Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. These inline styles are only used to make the logo placeholder show up in browsers for demonstration purposes.

To remove the inline styles, make sure your CSS Styles panel is set to Current. Select the image, and in the Properties pane of the CSS Styles panel, right click and delete the display and background properties. (Of course, you can always go directly into the code and delete the inline styles from the image or placeholder there.)

Backgrounds

By nature, the background color on any div will only show for the length of the content. This means if you're using a background color or border to create the look of a side column, it won't extend all the way to the footer but will stop when the content ends. If the .content div will always contain more content, you can place a border on the .content div to divide it from the column.

• Problem with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, the mac goes crazy!

I have a problem with mi imac g5 Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) bought the last year.
During the last week the system are wrong because when I open a aplication like itunes, illustrator or another one like a simple navigator "Firefox", somethimes this goes crazy, the keyboard write diferent and the finder folder open and close really really slow, and sometimes not even that, and everything goes bad, so I have to close the session or to restart the computer, I already reinstall the software, but nothing goes better It´s the same...It`s really maddening because in the 5 hours more or less I have to restart 4 times! depend of the day...
I reed that The software Lion and Mountain Lion have many mistakes, it`s really?maybe it`s one of them?
Anyone have the same problem? Maybe I have to restart again all the computer with all the programs? Or someone Knows with is the problem and the answer?
Thanks a lot!
I hope you understand me...

Is OSX Lion not the same as OSX Mountain Lion?
Correct. You would need to upgrade to Mountain Lion to be able to utilitize AirPlay with your Apple TV.
Make sure your Mac can run Mountain Lion > System requirements for OS X Mountain Lion
Moutain Lion can be purchased from the Mac App Store - OS X Mountain Lion for $19.99 (U.S.)
A good way to discern one OS X from another is the version number.
Lion OS X v10.7
Mountain Lion OS X v10.8
To see which version your Mac has installed, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.

It would freeze and type in huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu until the whole thing was filled with it and when i try to type "hahahaha" it ends up like this "huahuahuahua" i first thought that maybe i got sand in it so i brought that air duster you use for keyboards on computers it helped a little but its still freezing i still cant type in words or use my key board or my enter button, end button, and menu button. What can i do? it also took my pictures and deleted them. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

• PS2 mouse goes crazy on T8000

Hi there,
When i trie to use a Trust optical mouse with my T8000, this mouse goes crazy. The "internal mouse" in the keyboard keeps working perfectly... but that's who wants to use that?
Ideas anyone?

Hi
It is not easy to explain why this happened. In my opinion you should try with another external mouse. Try also to disable internal mouse while you use an external one.
Check also BIOS settings. There is an option called Pointing Device or something like that. Try to change from Auto-selected to Simultaneous.

• IMac permissions going crazy! Need Help!

When I turn on my iMac, it's fine. After I start using it for awhile, it starts going crazy on me, as if clicking back and forth between any window that is open and the desktop. Also, I try and left click on the mouse, but it acts as if it is a right click. Sometimes when I type with my keyboard, it will act as if I am holding down a key. Each action happens when I am trying to type, click, or just use any application.
I tried to solve this issue by going into Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and clicked "Mactintosh HD", then "verify disk permissions". Once it verified it, I clicked "repair disk permissions". The issue seemed to get resolved, but only temporarily. Everytime I log on to my iMac, it keeps going crazy agian, and then I have to repair disk permissions again. I'm hoping it's not a Mac virus. Can anybody help me resolve this issue permanently? Thanks!

Try to determine if it's a battery problem with a wireless keyboard, get a wired keyboard and mouse and reboot the machine with that and see if it continues.
Once you have ruled out the external hardware, then we can start looking at software issues.
Get a copy of your personal data file folders (Music, Pictures, Documents etc.) off the computer to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine) as soon as possible.
Read through this User Tip and report back what you have tried

• Macbook is going crazy!

The battery life is terrible! I have 2 batteries that don't hold much of a charge at all. They each last about an hour just while browsing the web. No flash content either.
My power adapters haven't been working right in a long time, so I called AppleCare. They were really nice, and knew what was going on and offered to help me out. The agent suspected the worst, as I did, and said that there was obviously something wrong with the computer, as I have 2 screwed up batteries and 3 screwed up chargers. The chargers don't charge it right. The LED indicator does whatever it wants and the agent said it was because there were problems with the part of the logic board that controlled charging or something like that. The LED is green when it's charging sometimes, and is orange when it's charged. Or OFF all together when it's charged. They also get dangerously hot, to the point where I can't even pick them up without them burning my hands. I've tried it in multiple outlets, etc. Even in a different state halfway across the country! So again, I took it into the store. They said they again couldn't help me, that I damaged the power adapters myself! That's crazy! They said they couldn't replicate the issue, but strangely enough when I found a power outlet in the store and tried it, it messed up AGAIN!
I've been in touch with Corporate Customer Relations, and they want me to take it back to the store, but there comes a point when you just say NO. I have to drive across town to go there, and I don't have time to screw with those idiots up there anymore. He (Ryan) also suggested an authorized service provider, but they can't help me either. So now, I'm stuck. I don't know what to do now.
Now, the keyboard randomly types things and the trackpad goes crazy. I installed more RAM a while back (so I'm up to 4GB), and it runs as slow as my first 512MB system. It constantly uses 3GB just sitting in the Finder with nothing open. External devices don't work right, or refuse to mount. And my airport card randomly disconnects me from my network.
I am so gentle on these computers, because I bust my tail to afford nice things like Apple Products. I have NO reason to purposely damage products, and that's absolutely crazy to say that I do. I spend a lot of money with these people, and so do countless friends and family members. I thought customer service was a priority, but apparently it's not.
I need help!

How do you expect to get anything fixed if you don't want to cooperate with Apple? No one in these forums can magically fix it.
Call Apple back and have them send you a box to ship it in for service. I live 90 miles from an Apple Store, so I sent mine in. Apple pays all shipping, so there is no charge to you. I had the computer back in three days also.
If Apple can't get it fixed after three repair attempts, the usually replace the unit. They did for me. You just need to be patient and follow protocol. It's that simple.

My Finder is going crazy. Keep getting a message saying it quit unexpectedly and asking if I want to restore windows, but I can't get it to stop. buttons don't work.

Something else you can try.
In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.

My macbook seems to be going crazy. At certain points (and for hours) I get the oh snap page on chrome, safari doesnt work, macbook wont let me create any files or for example upload music to itunes. I restored my mac so im sure its not a malware problem. The only thing that solves it is switching off and on , but sometimes I have to do that for 6-7 times before its ok or wait for a few hours. Some help please

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
