Keyboard icons: hp pavillion a6110n; keyboard 5188-6077, cannot open drive trays with icons

After Norton tech manually removed viruses from my computer I cannot use the keyboard icons to open and close my cd/dvd drive trays.

For Vista you will find drivers for the keyboard:

re-install it.

  • How to open CD tray with a non-Mac keyboard

    Hello.
Some years ago I bought a Logitech keyboard and set it so that a certain key would serve as Eject. For a good long time it worked but in the past few months Eject has been either refusing to open consistently or opening from another key. It finally stopped working altogether and hasn't responded to Pref Pane reassignment. OK so I may need a new (Mac!) keyboard but since I'm cash-strapped that may be a couple of months away and the paper clip solution is only designed for rare occasions. Is there something I can do to get the CD tray to open without a button?

Depress your mouse button on startup.
Also, look at this link Ejecting media in Mac OS X: Removing 'stuck' CDs/DVDs http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20041011075232575
Also, try this procedure as it's more permanent:
Enabling an Eject menu As a side note, you can enable another means of ejecting disks by opening the folder System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double-clicking the file "Eject.menu". An eject icon will appear in the menubar that can be used to close and open selected optical drives.

That's so you can text with your thumbs. If it does' tog back together  automatically  put your finger on the tiny typewriter  and you should get a pop up to reconnect keyboard. Or more easily put a finger on each one and pop them together.

  • Open CD bay with older keyboard

I'm using a 1998 Apple keyboard on my 2003 iMac, and it's working fine with one exception. The iMac has a CD drive on its pedestal, and the only way (that I know of) to open it is with the top right key on the original keyboard (icon is an underlined, up-pointing arrowhead). I can't find any key on the 1998 keyboard (model #M2452) that will open the CD drive.
    Any tips?
In case it matters, my iMac is a G4 Power PC running on OSX circa Nov. 2003, and its original keyboard is model #A1048.
(My original keyboard's space key, and a couple of other keys, stopped working when I spilled a bit of Royal Crown on it. Does anyone know whether that is fixable?)

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I thought those keyboards with the slim F keys had F12 marked as the eject key ⏏ . I'd recommend trying all F keys and then go to  menu > System Preferences... > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard and change "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" and try again.
If none of that works you can add an eject menu to the Menu Bar by going to Macintosh HD > System > Library > Coreservices > Menu Extras > Eject.menu. Double click this to place an eject menu on the Menu Bar which persists in most applications. It can be removed by holding the Command key and dragging.

  • IdeaPad Yoga Windows 8.1 OnScreen keyboard does not stay open

    hi
I just bought a new ideapad yoga and upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1. Unfortunately, I can't open the onscreen keyboard. After it opens, it immediately closes itself. This problem has also been described here, but wasn't solved:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-tms/ideapad-yoga-13-virtual-keyboard-does...
Is this a known issue? Does this have anything todo with drivers? - What can I do about it?
    Thank you!

Anyone got some tips? How can I contact the Lenovo support otherwise?
I am thinking of selling my Lenovo and buying another (definitely non-Lenovo) device. They always have troubles with their drivers (and have poor support)!! Something like that never happened to my Dell notebooks.
    Thanks.

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?

  • Bug report: A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Japanese keyboard

        * Case 3
            * Windows Server 2012R2 Datacenter Japanese
    ## Detail of bug
When login from Mac OS X with Microsoft Remote Desktop, the keyboard layout is always incorrect on the remote.
The client machine have a built-in keyboard of JIS 106 layout,
and the primary language is set to Japanese.
But on the remote, the keyboard layout is US 101.
So a input of Shift+2 does not result " but @.
I've seen the above behavior on the 3 remote enviornments described the above.
This bug did not occcur with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.1.1, even if the system language is English and keyboard layout is Japanese.
    ## Captures
I've took some of screen captures.
I'm sorry for the capture includes Japanese words, so I added description in English.
    Capture 1:
    Mac OS X Keyboard Setting
    Capture 2:
    Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard
    Capture 3:
Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard, with a additional registry key configured.

This bug also affects the Canadian English settings.  If the client is set to Canadian English with a US keyboard the remote server is setup using a Canadian French keyboard.  Using the language selection in the toolbar you can temporarily correct
the problem but the keyboard resets to french at the most inopportune times.  The was a problem in the earlier RDP client and was fixed so it's sad to see it reoccur in the new client.

  • Bug report: A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Hungarian and other "exotic" keyboard layouts

        * Case 3
            * Windows 8.1 (Hungarian)
    ## Detail of bug
When I connect to the listed remotes the client sets the keyboard layout to Latvian which is a completely different layout than Hungarian (not even close...).
    - On Windows 8 if I set the language on the login screen it stays on that language after the login.
    - On Windows Server 2003R2 and 2008R2 even if I set the language at login it will switch back to LV after the login.

Unfortunately cannot include my shots because I'm not allowed to do this...
    ## End of report
Please allow the users to set the correct "target" language on connection basis because the automatic method the app use to determine that is unreliable.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback.
I will forward this to the product team.

  • Keys ±, 3, e, d and c won't work on wireless keyboard so I cannot log in to  my iMac

Keys ±, 3, e, d and c won't work on my wireless keyboard. I cannot log in to my iMac because my password includes a 3. I've tried logging in as a guest user and tested the keyboard with Safari. The problem keys do't work there either so it looks like a keyboard issue rather than a software one. Does anyone have any ideas about fixing it please?
(I'm sending this plea from my trusty MacBook Pro!)

Try resetting the PRAM. It may also be that that key has failed......

  • The g, h and backspace on my keyboard are not working even after replacing with a new one.

How does a usb keyboard attached externally work?
You might try a "hard reset" where you remove battery and AC charger, hold down power button 20-30 seconds and then reassemble and turn on. Reset BIOS (F10) to default settings, too.

  • Soft KeyBoard is not working on ios 7 with Air sdk 3.8

    Hi
In my app Soft KeyBoard is not working on ios 7 with Air sdk 3.8. Does any one know soluton for this ?

    Hi,
There's no question that TextFields and TextAreas weren't working in our case, likely because we have a deep displaylist with a variety of object types. Presumably, AIR has changed how it looks through the displaylist for objects that need keyboard, and perhaps we have an object type somewhere in the hierarchy that AIR no longer recurses. It's definitely something that changed, though.
It's no picnic to put together a sample app, I can't afford that time when I have a solution. But the symptom was very clear, a textbox would open, and the cursor would just blink with no way of interacting with it.
I'm happy using StageText directly, because it's a more direct way to interact with the OS and gives more control.
It also solves a bug in AIR that I haven't reported yet, but is as follows. Rarely, when you move the container of a TextField of TextArea after it has been created, AIR will crash and freeze iOS devices. It doesn't happen on Android or desktop, but with a user-base of about 100,000 of our app, we've had it reported maybe 50 times. One of our dialogs sometimes needs to reposition the elements, which is done animated. During this, AIR will crash about 0.01% of the time. We tried only creating the TextArea, but not activating it or even having it visible, but even an invisible TextArea will crash, presumably because AIR moves the internal StageText overlay around as well, and this confuses iOS after a while during the animation.
By using StageText directly, I finally also have a way to get rid of this bug, because I simply don't activate StageText until the object has already been positioned. Prior to that, it isn't even an editable text field, it's a label like anything else. So I'm happy I did this solution.
Let's just leave this thread as a record if someone else has the same problem. I'm quite sure it's because of our very complicated display list, and AIR having changed how it scans the displaylist for objects that need keyboard.

  • How can I get my wireless keyboard battery access to open. It's like the bloody thing has seized up and won't open?

How can I get my wireless keyboard battery access to open. It's like the bloody thing has seized up and won't open? Tried the coin...nope.  Tried a screw driver...nope! Even tried WD-40 - nope! Or does this mean it's now in the boat anchor pile!

They are designed for coins... is this your first time changing the battery? Make sure you are twisting in the right direction and make sure you are pushing down on it and applying pressure at the same time you turn.

  • Cannot Open Premiere Keyboard Shortcuts

I cannot open Keyboard Shortcuts on Premiere v8 on Cloud (just installed yesterday!) - I get no dialog box when I go to Premiere Pro -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Nothing. I am on Mac OS 10.8.3 and cleared my Cloud Sync settings, to no avail. What I am trying to do is customize my shortcuts to enable a dang marker on a clip within a timeline, since I hear that's the only way it can be done. Thank You!  Meg

    Hi Meg,
Trashing preferences usually solves this issue. See this link: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/preferences.html#change_preferences

  • USB keyboard and Western Digital external drive

    Hi,
I can plug my WD MyBook into the USB ports on my iMac's keyboard, and it works great. I can't, however, do the same with my newer, smaller WD Passport. It just turns on and off, on and off, etc. Why?
    -Brandon
    Message was edited by: Brandon318

The MyBook (I believe) is a 3.5-inch hard drive and the enclosure has its own power supply. The Passport is a smaller 2.5-inch laptop drive (I believe) and gets its power from the USB port. I'm not that familiar about WD external drive products, so please correct me if I am wrong about the above.
Depending on the iMac model (and type of keyboard), you may or may not be able get enough power from the port on the keyboard. But if the drive is self-powered, the USB port only needs to be there for a data connection, so the power aspect is not as critical. In either case, however, you should probably connect an external drive to a direct port or to a USB hub that has its own power supply.
Note: There as some larger capacity 2.5-inch hard drives that required more power than typical. External drives that use such drives, even though they are the smaller size, may need to have its own power supply. Some come with a extra USB connector, to draw power from a second USB.
