Keyboard in Korean!

I'm in Korea on business. Suddenly, my Keyboard is in Korean only. I have to have it back in English. How do I fix this problem?

    Very interesting!
Is there anything that connects your phone to Korea, such as where it was purchased or first activated?
Until your post, I had actually never heard anyone mention a Korean 10-key layout in iOS 7 before.  On the other hand, Apple had publically advertised the Chinese one (but later withdrew it).

  • I need a keyboard with Korean characters on it – can I buy outside of Korea

I want to buy a wired Apple keyboard for the newest display I intend to buy and hook it up with the new Macbook Air I will buy.
I will definitely buy the Macbook Air in Korea so the keyboard for the MBA is no problem.
However, I may delay in buying the keyboard (and display) and buy them outside of Korea, probably in the US where I am thinking of moving to.
I occasionally type Korean and so need a Korean keyboard.
Will I have trouble buying one with Korean letters in the US?
Should I just buy a wired Apple keyboard with Korean letters in Korea now just in case I cannot buy one in the US, even though I do not need the keyboard right now? (The Apple display is too heavy to transport from Korea to the US and I don't really need the display urgently so I am waiting to move to the US before I buy it).

Should I just buy a wired Apple keyboard with Korean letters in Korea now
Yes, I think it would be a mistake to assume that you could easily find one in the US.
Of course it is not absolutely necessary to have a Korean keyboard to type Korean -- OS X comes with several keyboard layouts that remap the US keyboard according to Korean standards.

  • How do I get the keyboard viewer to display Korean characters

I am trying to set up my Mac so that I can type in Korean. I followed the instructions here: http://www.foolsworkshop.com/120b/koreanmac.html.
After adding all the Hangul input methods under the International control panel, I have the flag language menu on the menu bar that lets me switch between typing in English and Korean.
So far so good, but now I'd like to see a layout of where the Hangul characters are on the keyboard, so that I don't have to guess. The above link says that I can see this by selecting Show Keyboard Window from the language menu. If I select this, however, it brings up a picture of a keyboard with Roman characters on the keys. How do I get it to display a picture of a keyboard with Korean characters?

Bleech. That's exactly the kind of unpolished UI sloppiness that Apple makes such a big deal about not having. I think the dorky-but-lovable PC guy from the TV ads gets a pass to chew out the insufferably smug Mac hipster guy in Korean.
Seriously, though, I tried that and it works. Thanks for the tip.

  • Korean keyboard available?

I know I can type Korean on my ibook G4, and I can buy stickers with Korean/Hangul symbols and put them on my keyboard.
But I would like to get a keyboard with Korean and Roman/English letters already on it.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Hi there,
Yes, you can buy a Korean Keyboard for your iBook. It is USD$129 for the 12 inch one from http://www.welovemacs.com/inkeac13.html or for the 14 inch one - http://www.welovemacs.com/14ibproke.html
An Apple store may be able to provide it cheaper using the part code on those pages (KH922-6132 - 12 inch Korean or KH922-6637 - 14 inch Korean)

  • IOS Numbers - Korean Hangul text not formatting correctly in cells

For example, I'm trying to enter the Korean word ‘가면' into cells but the text is not grouping correctly. The final letter 'ㄴ' is not associated with the related syllable. Instead of '가면', I get '가며ㄴ'.
I don't get this problem in others apps, only Numbers. I can copy and paste the correct form '가면' from other apps, but obviously this is a bit laborious.
Any idea how I can fix this please?    (I've got 2 keyboards enabled, Korean and english). Thanks.

This may be a bug that only Apple can fix.  You can report it via
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
You might try changing Korean fonts.
Also there are Korean apple forums where someone might know more.

  • How can I type Korean characters with Firefox 4?

I upgraded to Firefox 4 and now I have difficulty typing Korean characters. When I switch my keyboard to Korean and start typing, the characters go to a bar on the bottom of the browser. It is not even a bar for inserting text. There is no insert button and it only allows me to type one syllable block.
I found a temporary, but still frustrating, fix by going View -> Character Encoding -> Customize List and adding one of the Korean character encodings. When I ran out of encodings, it worked simply to click OK, and I would able to type in Korean. But now I can only type in Korean for a few syllables or on one tab before the system reverts to disallowing me to type Korean characters.
Is there something I can do to permanently fix this, or should I resign myself to waiting for an update or downgrading to Firefox 3? I like Firefox 4 with the exception of this Korean character issue.

That is up to Delicious or whoever created their Firefox extension to fix, not something for Mozilla to fix.
See this article which explains how to fix compatibility in the Delicious extension to get it to work in Firefox 4.0.x versions. <br />

  • Pages Performance Issue

    (Sorry for my English)
I'm using iPad almost everyday not only for browsing web but for productivity tools as well, like Evernote or Pages. But I have had several problems with Pages for iPad and one of them is about the performance. When I start a document, it works well or at least it looks good working. But if the document get longer, Pages becomes terribly slow and actually I type far faster than Pages does. I want to know whether it happens only on my iPad or not. I tried to shut down all background working programs and completely recovered iPad on iTunes, too. But it doesn't help to solve this problem. What should I do now? Please give me some suggestions. Thank you-
    iPad: iOS 4.2.1
    Pages: 1.3.1
    Not jailbreaked
    Default language: Korean
    Keyboard: English, Korean, German

I have a Pages document with 20 pages of text (English) no problems. I placed some Asian text into 5 pages and Pages slowed down.
It is the Asian text that is slowing down Pages... You could try typing in the Notes app and copy that into Pages. The Notes app didn't slow down with Asian text.

  • Korean - keyboard input and reading what I wrote

I am having serious problems using Korean on my Mac.
I can switch by going through the finder at the top right to use Korean, but there was another way on the keyboard - unfortunately that way is ow the spotlight menu (the man at the Apple store had used it - but my computer at home doesn't seem to allow this...why?).
Also - I was about to leave a message on a board in Korean, but after posting it noticed that it only came up as question marks to everyone else - even I couldn't read it once I'd posted it...why? I even sent a test message to my hotmail/yahoo accounts and couldn't reread them in Korean - tried all the text encodings for Korean as well...so just HOW can you communicate in Korean using a Mac?!
I am new to Mac and living in Korea (Westerner)...there seem to a great many issues with using Mac here...

Also - I was about to leave a message on a board in
Korean, but after posting it noticed that it only
came up as question marks to everyone else - even I
    couldn't read it once I'd posted it...why?
If you could provide the url of the board it would be easier to help. Some (truly stupid) boards set their encoding to Latin-1. Since this is not right for Korean, all input has to be transformed into numerical html codes. Safari does not do this, but FireFox will. Try that and see if it works.
You might have the same problem in web mail, though I think using UTF-8 or one of the Korean encodings should work, as long as you remember to set your browser manually to that when you are reading as well as when you are sending.
You are always a lot better off using a real mail program for non-Latin scripts, since you have no control over what the webmail services do to your encodings.

  • Korean keyboard entry error

In Safari while surfing korean websites (example: www.naver.com) an error occurs:
if selecting pre-entered forms and deleting text, and then entering text in Hangul (2 set korean keyboard) if not entering a space or another simbol after the last sillable (example:년) the last text entry remains selected and it is impossible to click anywhere else on the webpage. Also, the keyboard is now in "insert" mode - it will replace the previous sillable entirely if any key stroke is performed.
This did not occur in Snow Leopard and it is extremely annoying when entering lots of text.
Question: when will it be fixed?

    Hi Tom,
Thank you for directing me to the proper support area.
It does not happen in other Apps - address book, text edit, and so on.
In Safari it happens even if entering the korean characters in the search area, or the address bar - after entering 년 and not a space or right arrow, if clicking outside the search box it remains with the pop down open (history) while if entering numbers with the korean keyboard or any character in the english keyboard, clicking outside the box causes the box to be closed, as it should.
In Google Chrome and Firefox - if entering Korean characters as described and then clicking on the first search sugestion, it does go to the link as expected (in safari it does not).
It appears that when entering some combinations of Korean characters clicking out does not terminate the text entry (in all other apps and browsers it does, so this is the expected behaviour).

  • Z10 (BB10) does not have korean keyboard?

    Hello BB 10 developers,
Just found out that Z10 (BB10) does not have Korean input keyboard. I know your sales at S. Korea was dissapointing and you withdrew from there but do you know how many Korean lives abroad? it is about 7 million - you are making big mistake that you missed Korean keyboard for BB10. (Similar story for Japanese, I would say)
I don't know how much you have to invest to add one more language there and I agree that you cannot add every language in the world but you made quite cool stuff which can compete with iOS or Android models and now you abandoned quite huge number of potential customers......hope you add more languages ASAP including Korean.
    Thank you,

Korean input language & User interface is available in 10.1 and will be updated in the upcoming version:

Hello, I am trying to get the Korean Keyboard to work on my computer. Everytime I try to get it through the Control Panel it comes up with English Letters. I got the Korean Language Pack and it still didn't set up the keyboard.
