Keyboard in safari

anyone noticing that when tryping a website in your cookies and u go to click it nothing happens and your safari essentially locks up and you have to restart your phone to get your internet working again

I'm having a similar problem. I have to slide my fingers along the keyboard to get the letter I want (instead of just hitting it) and the screen isn't responsive to touch either. My other aps are working fine, so I'm guessing the problem is with safari and not the screen.
If someone knows how to fix this without just restarting the phone every time, I would love to hear from them.

No Keyboard in Safari

I use an online mail like gmail. Recently when I go to reply in Safari I tap and get a gray bar (like I was going to copy something) but no keyboard and therefroe cannot reply.
I have tried reloading the firmwave, change user and then reload etc and still the same problem - no keyboard???
Does anyone have any experience with this probelm?

I have the identical problem with an IPBoard 3.14 forum when attempting to post a message. The message edit frame does not interact with Safari on my iPad 2 as it should and as it does with an iPod Touch and someone else's iPad 2. Our iPads have the same OS ver 4.3.3 (8J2) but differ in Model numbers. Mine is the more recent delivered from China but only 16 Gb WiFi, his barely two mos old and 64 Gb WiFi. I have restored mine to new state with no other apps.
Prior to the restore I had also installed the IPB app, Atomic Lite browser app, and Opera browser. Only Opera would bring up the keyboard in the IPB forum, yet the IPB app worked on the iPod Touch.
The problem is not confined to the IPB forum. Also experienced on wikispaces.org.
So if my friend's iPad fires up the keyboard, why won't mine?

Remove top bar of split keyboard on Safari

I really like the split keyboard on ios5, but it has a serious flaw when used in Safari. As I write this text, the keyboard is split but it shows a bar that runs atop both halves and has 3 buttons on the left (previous, next and auto fill - not sure if it's correct, my os is portuguese) and has a gray background through the whole screen. It gets real bad when I'm using GMail, most of the times I can't see what I'm typing, rendering it almost unusable.
Long story short, can I make it look like it is on other apps? Two halves with no background between them and no top bar?

AFAIK - You cannot remove the gray background or the 3 buttons on the left. The split keyboard is identical to the full size version - it is just split in half. That gray background is behind the full size keyboard as well, but it is more pronounced - or noticeable - when the keyboard is split.
I assume that many people love this new feature but personally I do not see the fascination with it. I have enough problems with the full size keyboard - but as the old saying goes - "to each his own"!
BTW ... In case you don't realize this - you can move the split keyboard up and down on the screen by tapping and holding down on the same key that you use to split or dock the keyboard.

Keyboard freezes safari when number pad is used...

The keyboard that came with my G5 has suddenly started freezing my computer safari whenever is use the keypad to enter numbers. I can use the numbers along the top of the keyboard no problem, but when I use the keypad, safari stops functioning. I then have to force quit safari and re-start it and all is fine again. Until I hit the numbers again. Which I try to avoid but when I am moving along nicely, by habit I use the keypad. Has anyone encountered this problem and solved it? Help???

You may have hit the Option key five times and turned on Mouse Keys. When it is on, Keypad-0 will lock the mouse down. You can turn it off, and disable the quintuple Option, in the "Mouse" pane of "Universal Access" System Preference.

Different keyboards in safari

Has anybody an idea why the iPod Touch shows different keyboards depending on wether I enter an URL or a Google search in Safari? This effect can be seen on the keyboard page where the Backslash is (or is not), i.e. press the <123> key and then the <#+=> key. The keyboard shows more symbols, when the Google Text field is active and shows less symbols, when the URL text field is active.

I never noticed that. I don't know for certain why, but I have an idea. In a Google search, all characters are permitted. Certain characters (backslash, #, for example) are not permitted.

Horizontal keyboard in Safari

In Safari, you cannot access the horizontal keyboard if you are in vertical keyboard mode. You must get into horizontal while navigating, then tap the address bar, fill-in box, etc.
This differs from Mail, Notes, and Contacts, where you can change from vertical to horizontal while already in keyboard mode.
Horizontal is altogether disabled in App Store, Calendar, Settings, Photos, and iTunes.

Little typing is needed in those apps so I guess Apple figured it wasn't worth the effort to add the landscape keyboard to those. Photos has the landscape picture view, but there isn't anywhere to type in that app, right?

Keyboard in Safari no longer shows

I have no idea how I did it or how to recover from it:
I have an iPhone 4S. My keyboard no longer shows up
from Safari app. It still appears for other apps.
Any idea what happenned to it and how I can get it back?

First double click the Home button. When the multitasking bar appears hold down an app then remove all apps from the bar by taping the little red minus.
Then hold down Power and Home buttons together until Apple logo appears. Release and wait to reboot.

Wireless Keyboard and Safari...

I have a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard that I use with the computer I operate Safari on. I have noticed when I type things in Safari I often get double keystrokes. I will type a small bit of information below using the wireless keyboard to demonstrate what it is doing. Note that it doesn't do this when I have a wired keyboard connected. Also note that no other program detects multiple keystroke hits, including Internet Explorer and FireFox. I have even gone so far as to turn down the key repeat rate in my "Keyboard" control panel. That still didn't make a difference.
Here is text typed using my wireless keyboard and mouse. I don't know why itt does this but it bbecomes very frustrating when typing qquickly. Perhaps somebody out there will know why my keybboard is producinng these failures. It also doesn't seem to make a difference whether I am typing slowly or quuickly if it makes errors or not. I have even switched out the batteries to make sure it's not battery problems. Perhaps there is a reason that I have yet to discover as to why it does this.
Any ideas from anybody?

I can confirm this problem. It seems that this product is somehow buggy since I've got also many many problems with this keyboard on several Linux distributions. I've got no solution. As workaround I suggest changing keyboard

Keyboard in Safari issues

IPad iOS 4.2. When I browse on certain websites which require cells filled, the keyboard appears and almost instantly disappears. I select the cell to fill out, and the keyboard pops up, and won't let me fill anything out because it disappears before I can even type. Same issue with a Bluetooth keyboard installed.
Never had problems with the previous iOS on the same site on my iPad... Suggestions?

This happens to me sometimes too. The cells on certain sites are designed to react a certain way as they expect input from a physical keyboard (ie some search bars that try to autocomplete). The keyboard will pop up only when a cursor is active and sometimes cells disable the cursor. I do not think there is a solution but at least it is limited to only a few sites.

Slow keyboard response safari

Upgraded to Mavericks OS X 10.9 on my 2011 Imac 2.7 GHz i5 and now have trouble entering text into Safari browser search/website entry. If say I want to enter a website or search phrase only the first letter appears initially followed by a 5 second or so pause and then I can complete the entry. Also noticing slow or "jerky" functions such as adding new tabs opening favorites etc. Any clues?

Couple things that might be causing this.
1. Go into App Store and make sure there's no updates to Mavericks or Safari. Apple usually releases updates after updates fixing bugs in new software. If Safari has an update take it - as much as I love Apple, if you don't have most up-to-date software you're in trouble.
2. Go check out Activity Monitor and see what your computer is doing - might have a lot of stuff running in the background. Activity Monitor is in Applications/Utilities/
3. Reset Safari - from menu bar, click Safari > Reset Safari (check everything, except maybe Remove saved names and passwords)
Other way of resetting Safari, which could possibly be more thorough:
Click on the hard drive icon located on the desktop.
Browse to Users > (Users Home) > Library > Safari folder.
Drag every file but "Bookmarks.plist" into the trash.
Browse to Users > (User Home) > Library > Preferences.
Locate "com.apple.Safari.plist", "com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist", and "com.apple.internetconfig.plist" and drag them to the trash. If "com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist does not exist, ignore it and just trash the other two files.
Safari should now be back to factory default status.

Numeric keyboard on safari

you used to be able to name a web form field zip or phone and the numeric keypad would come up instead of the default alpha keyboard.
I have found numerous references to this not working since 2.0... but no solution? also, the reference to zip/phone in the documentation is now gone.

i need although an answer or a workaround of this problem. I will pay any money to get an answer. I have payed 499 Dollar to get an ADC Select Membership with two technical support incidents. Then i have asked this question at idp-dts. They answered that they cannot found me at the Developer-Database and that the Select membership isn't good to ask about Iphone SDK. I should pay 99 Dollar to become an Developer. So I have payed another 99 Dollar and registered as Developer. But the registration has never completed. Apple enrolls me....

In the address bar it won't, there are no spaces in URL's.
Does it appear in the search bar?

So I was wondering if anyone knew a way to change the shortcuts on the keyboard for Safari, specifically I would like to change the "Command-R" function which reloads the page to "F5". I have gone throught the whole keyboard shortcuts tab in system prefs (System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts) and added the safari menu command and my shortcut I wanted to add yada yada yada and nothing ever works no matter how many times I try or what I change. I am not sure whether or not the fact that I am the Apple Wireless keyboard has anything to do with this but I doubt it does. Any ideas?

I had to quit safari & reopen before it worked, but yes, it does work with F5.
Did you choose Safari from the applications list in sys prefs-keyboard & mouse-keyboard shortcuts?
then type Reload Page ( including the capital letters ) ? in the Menu Title box?
then leave keyboard prefs?

Wireless keyboard does not work with Safari.

Space bar does not work when using Apple Wireless Keyboard with Safari to fill web forms.
No problem with Firefox.
Early 2008 iMac, 10.10.1, 6GB Ram

Im going to assume you are using the Apple Wireless Keyboard with your devices.
Whats probabaly happening is both of your devices are trying to connect to your keyboard at the same time and it is causing it to not function properly.
I suggest you disable bluetooth on the device you AREN'T using and try it again with the one you ARE using.
If this doesn't solve your issue, try re-pairing the keyboard with the iPad you wish to use it with. It may have just not made a strong connection.
