Keyboard incompatibility?

I have a MacBook to which I added an extra Apple keyboard (for comfort). At first everything worked fine, but after about 24h, something bizarre happened. An intermittent bleeping noise came out of the computer and whenever I pointed the mouse to some item, there was a flickering on the screen. Only when I disconnected the USB the noise stopped and the computer worked normally. Could this be a faulty keyboard or is it a problem of configuration?
Thanks for any help

  • Keyboard line out and griffin imic incompatibility?

I'm getting horrible background noise when I try to record my keyboard (Yamaha PSR-225GM ) headphone line out through my Griffin iMic into Garageband. I assume it's a level issue but even the keyboard volume control won't fix the problem nor will system settings for the input device. My Sony stereo mic into the same iMic input sounds fine. Headphones attached to the keyboard line out sound fine too so I don't believe it's a quality problem with the line out. Can one not use a headphone output into the Griffin iMic?
If not, anyone got suggestions for higher quality audio input into the iMic flat panel (e.g. some USB box) that's compatible with various audio equipment (mics, keyboards, guitar amps, 1/4" and 1/8" and RCA plugs etc.)? The iMic has served me fine, but maybe it's time to start looking for something higher quality, and more versatile. Thanks.
By the way, anyone know why sometimes there's a delay (half second or so) between audio in and the monitors in Garageband, and sometimes not? It makes performance nearly impossible when there's such a big delay.

tell me if I'm on the right track on the
following theories (I don't know if the following are TRUE):
I'll do the best I can...
    1) The quater-inch headphone output from the Yamaha
    keyboard is neither "balanced"
Correct, the headphone-out is not balanced. A balanced output uses 3 wires, a graound, a hot, and another hot that's 180° out of phase with the first. This is a neat trick in that two signals 180° out of phase with each other cancel each other out sp you get zero signal. In the case of a balanced out if noise is introduced, it is in phase on both cables. On the other end when the signal on the out of phase wire has its phase flipped, your original signal is now in phase on both legs, and the noise is 180° out of phase with itself, and thus is canceled out.
    nor impedance matched
    to the Griffin iMic.
The impedance is not a problem here. As I understand it, the headphone-out is High Impedance, and so is the iMic's In.
    (I'm using a 1/4" to 2.5 mm
converter cable). I am possibly getting radio
interference (I DID get a local radio station when I
touched the plug right!!) and degrading the signal
    because of these two issues.
Possible. A Low quality cable and or adaptor could offer an entry point for noise.
    2) It may be necessary to put the signal from my
keyboard's headphone jack into a DI (direct box) to
get impedance matched to mixer levels - the levels I
    assume the Griffin iMic expects.
No, this shouldn't be true. A headphone-out is actually much hotter than a Line-In, so the level should be able to offer more than enough signal, and the impedance is matched.
    3) I'm HOPING that a high quality audio-to-USB (or
firewire) input box can perform the job of the direct
    box.
It could, but the weak point I see is that you're stuck using a headphone-out instead of a Line-Out. I don't think a DI box is going to help any in comparison.
Hmmm, I just glanced at your computer list. Doesn't the iMac have a Line-In jack? Have you tried skipping the iMic and going straight into the iMac?
Finally, if anyone can give me the list of equipment
in order from a keyboard to Garageband
I think it could be Keyboard -> Mac
Other combinations would just be sticking an interface between the two (Keyboard->interface->Mac)

  • Lenovo U430 Keyboard Motherboard Incompatibility

Hi everybody, I bought a U430 touch a while back, the i5-4200U model with no graphics card. But today I tried upgrading it to the i7-4500U and GT 730M model with a heatsink and motherboard upgrade that I bought the parts for. I then assembled the entire computer and realized something, everything fit perfectly except for the old Keyboard. It's smaller than the connector for it. I looked back at my old motherboard, and sure enough, it's smaller than the GT 730M model's. I've looked around on eBay for palmrests with keyboards of the larger connector, but there aren't any that I found. I'll post pictures if nessicary. If anyone could tell me where to purchase a new palmrest that can work the computer without having me need to use a USB keyboard, thank you.

This is the new motherboard's keyboard connector. It is slightly larger than the stock ribbon cable for my keyboard.
For reference, this is a picture of the bottom of a replacement palmrest with the same size ribbon cable as mine.
Click here to view 2nd image.
It's the black cable above the trackpad, it's slightly smaller than this new motherboard's connector.
I'm looking for a palmrest with a keyboard connector of the same size as this new motherboard's connector.
I counted the paralell lines on my palmrest's keyboard ribbon cable to be 26. The new motherboards connector seems to require a cable about thirty of those wide.
    Thanks for the help.

  • 10.5.7 Fundamental Incompatibility with Mac Pro - Screen/System Lock ups

    Hi all.
It looks like 10.5.7 is causing a lot of problems, but I think I found a problem that is very fundamental.
First, my system. It's one of the original Mac Pros with Quad Xeons at 2.66GHz. It has 24GB of RAM and several drives in there. I have 3 30" displays plugged into 3 NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT cards. I originally ran a 10.5.7 combo update on my 10.5.6 system, and experienced these problems (detailed below). As I was also running a beta of iTunes and the iPhone SDK (the 3rd release), and beta 2 of Safari 4, I thought this may have caused some trouble. So, I tried an experiment.
I bought a new Corsair 256GB SSD for my startup drive. Loaded my family pack of 10.5.6 onto it as a fresh install, and just applied the 10.5.7 combo update. I get the exact same behavior with no further software. So, this is a fundamental incompatibility of 10.5.7 with a machine having these specs.
Now the problems. They start with the primary (in my case center) screen locking while the other two screens keep working. Meaning, the primary display "works" but none of the windows move, the clock freezes...yet, if you move the mouse there and luckily grab a window, you could move it out onto the other 2 displays and it would allow you to continue to use the application. If you hit the CONTROLkey and scroll up and down (zooming the display in and out) it can sometimes "unlock" the primary display, but then there are many artifacts. For example, the shadows cast by windows appear as plain grey "dashboard esque" blocks and have black stripes at the edges. Also, at random times, the machine just seems to hang completely, and unlock a minute or 2 later. Eventually it locks for good.
Unfortunately this has lead me into a deadlock situation. My iTunes has been updated to the 3rd beta in the iPhone 3.0 SDK release. The library has been modified and only works with that version now. That version requires 10.5.7. So if I revert back to 10.5.6, I lose my iTunes Library or have to wait till the offical version of iTunes is realeased (although that may still require 10.5.7).
I see lots of people are having Firewire (800 in particular) problems, and I have several drives I need on Firewire. It's not a solution to yank them. It all works fine under 10.5.6, of course.
So the question is...is help on it's way? What to do!?
    Thanks for any insights.

I can only tell you that I've run 10.5.7 on my Mac Pro, same model as yours, without any problems. As a beta tester my Mac Pro was the main hardware on which 10.5.7 was tested. I currently have it installed on a first generation iMac, MacBook, and MacBook Pro as well as a second generation MacBook Pro. So far not a single problem.
But, I don't have multiple video cards nor do I use any beta version of iTunes (didn't know there was one since each system upgrade includes the current release) but I do use the Safari 4 Beta - the most recent version just released when 10.5.7 was released.)
I can suggest you read the following about updates of system software:
Essential Steps Before Updating OS X!
Please do things right before updating OS X in order to avoid problems.
    A. Repair Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means your backup drive (should be erased first.)
Source means your startup drive or volume.
    C. Download the Standalone Combo Updater from Apple.
Be sure you quit all running applications and disconnect all peripherals (except original keyboard and mouse) before running the installer. When the installer is running do not use the computer in any way other than to respond to an installer dialog.
Install the update by double-clicking on the installer package icon. When the installation is completed Restart the computer. Your computer will boot twice - this is normal. Upon completion of the update use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Not all permissions will seem repaired. You will get spurious reports regarding permissions related to iTunes, Front Row. These can be ignored. They will appear every time you repair permissions.
Following these basic steps should prevent most if not all updating problems. Note that if you have unrepairable disk problems reported in Step A then DO NOT update your system until those problems are resolved.
If you find that you did not follow these suggestions, then you might consider reinstalling OS X and going about the process properly in the hope of a successful result:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Rocketfish bluetooth keyboard can't auto connect after snow leopard upgrade

    Hi,
I have one of the newer model 2GHz Mac Mini's which I bought back in March. I've been using a Rocketfish model RF-ABTKB bluetooth keyboard (which I had been previously using on a windows system before getting the mac). Up to now, the keyboard had worked fine. Whenever I booted the mac, I'd use my bluetooth mouse to go to the bluetooth menu, scroll down to "Rocketfish Bluetooth Keyboard", and then select "connect" out of the sub menu, then would click the "connect" button on the underside of my keyboard and it would connect, every time.
I bought Snow Leopard on Friday & upgraded my machine. Since the upgrade, I no longer see the "connect" option for the keyboard in the bluetooth menu. The only option I see now in that sub-menu for the keyboard is "Open Keyboard Preferences...". If I go to the preferences window, click "set up bluetooth keyboard" at the bottom of the window and go through the pairing process again (going through the discovery process, entering the PIN that the mac generates, etc) it pairs and works fine (I'm actually using it to type this post). If I look at the keyboard sub-menu in the bluetooth menu after it's paired/connected, the "Disconnect" option is now available. The disconnect option itself is no surprise, it had been there in the past, but I thought it's odd that I can still see the disconnect option but not the connect option.
When I disconnect the keyboard (by either selecting that Disconnect option or by just not using it for 5 minutes & letting it go to sleep) the keyboard disconnects, the "shadow icon" fades on to the screen showing the keyboard is no longer connected, and I can go back to the bluetooth menu & still not see the same Connect option that used to be there before the upgrade.
My generic bluetooth mouse (doesn't have a brand name) continues to work with no issues. I called the support number for Rocketfish (which is really just a consumer electronics sub-brand of Best Buy), they said that their keyboard is fully compliant with Mac OS X and if the connect option is no longer showing up for the keyboard in the bluetooth menu, Apple must have done something that changed the way the mac is handling bluetooth.
Also, I did try removing the keyboard from the Bluetooth control panel in System Preferences and re-adding it from scratch, no change.
    Anybody have any ideas???

    Hello N:
I suspect that there has been some sort of incompatibility introduced. However, since this is an Apple forum, I recommend that you pursue the problem with "rocketfish." If is suggested troubleshooting steps, I might confuse the issue further as I would be focussed on Apple devices.
FWIW, no such problem has surfaced with Apple keyboards or mice. I am not trying to sell you one, I do not work for Apple.

We are developing swing program on Linux, and we often meet keyboard-lock issues.
I try to simplify some of them to small programs, and still meet keyboard-lock.
Here I post two programs to show the error:
    //---first ----------------------------------------------
    package test;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.util.*;

      JButton btnNext = new JButton("Next");
      JButton btnAbout = new JButton("About");
public static final String aboutMsg =
"<html>  This program will help to find keyboard lock problems, two way to reproduce:<br><br>" +
"1 - press Alt+N to navigate next, and don't release keys untill there are no more next page, <br>" +
"then try Alt+B to navigate back and also don't release keys untill page 0,<br>" +
"repeat Alt+N and Alt+B again and again, keyboard will be locked during navigating. <br><br>" +
"2 - press Alt+A in main window, it will popup an about dialog,<br>" +
"then press down space key and don't release, <br>" +
"the about dialog will be closed and opened again and again,<br>" +

}The second program will lead to keyboard-focus-lost in RHEL 3/4 and red flag 4/5, J2SE 5, not in J2SE 6.
And I also tried java demo program "SwingSet2" in red flag 5, met keyboard-lock too.
I guess it should be some kind of incompatibleness of J2SE with some Linux platform. Isn't it?
    Please help, thanks.

    Hi.
I have same problems on Ubuntu with Java 6 (all versions). I would like to use NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA but it is not possible due to keyboard locks.
    I posted this bug
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/174281
before I found some info about it:
    http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=189281

    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6568693
I don't know from which part this bug comes, but I wonder why it isn't fixed yet. Does anybody else use NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA on linux with Java 6 ?

  • Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5: keyboard & mouse don't work

Running OS-X 10.8.5 on iMac 27 Late 2013. Everything goes smoothly installing Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5.0.4 until Windows does its final reboot (after a complete, apparently successful install), and begins the Windows setup sequence. The first setup screen asks for User name and PC name. My mouse and keyboard do not work at this point. Tried cold rebooting: Windows boots up, detects it needs to do first use setup, and gets to same failure point.
NOTE: I have never had a chance to install the Windows support drivers; but the mouse and keyboard worked through out the istallation.
I've tried two different W7 versions: 64-bit Pro and 64-bit Enterprise [Enterprise is not supported, but I have installed it on an iMac 27 2010, and a MacBook Air 2013.]. Both versions of W7 hang at the same point described above.
I've tried a Windows DVD install disk  plus Windows support drivers on a flash drive; and I've tried a bootable flash drive with everything on it. Both fail at the same point.
I have tried both wireless and USB keyboards and mouse. Same failure.
I have even tried removing the flash drive with Windows support drivers before the final reboot. Same failure.
NOTE: when I reboot in OS-X and go to the Startup Disk, the windows option says "Untitled Windows" instead of Boot Camp; but I can select it, and it starts the Windows boot which ends up at the same Windows setup failure point.
Has anyone had the same problem?
Has anyone succeeded? If so, any special actions or ideas?

The issue may be related to the iMac 2013 only having USB 3.0 ports and that windows 7 does not come with drivers for it. Try the following (borrowed from answer on Mac Rumors Forums http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1659481):
    <quote>
If you run into issues with keyboard and mouse not working (due to USB 3.0 and Win 7 incompatibility), you need to run your Win 7 partition (and Win 7 installation disk/partition) in legacy mode. (I found this information at:http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support#faq123 - see "Method using Terminal"). Here you will be setting the legacy on the installation volume of win 7, not bootcamp partition (yet). After running the diskutil list find the volume with installer of Win 7, and then run the command (substituting the disk1s2 below with the information you find through diskutil on your computer:
sudo /usr/sbin/bless --device /dev/disk1s2 --setBoot --nextonly --legacy
Enter administrative password when prompted. Next, select Restart from the Apple menu. Do not hold the Option key while restarting.
You should have mouse/keyboard working. Begin the Windows 7 installation. Upon first restart right after the installer completes, boot into Mac and set the legacy mode for the BootCamp partition (but this time without the --nextonly flag), so you can use keyboard/mouse to complete the installation and thereafter until the USB 3.0 drivers are installed).

  • Where can I get a USB keyboard model MB110LL/A

I have a 2008 24inch iMac (intel) running OSX 10.6.8 and Windows XP on a bootcamp 3.2 partition. I need to obtain a USB keyboard model MB110LL/A. The only keyboards available are MB110LL/B that will only work with Windows 7 and Boot Camp 3.3. That is not an option for me as most of the software I want to use is incompatable with Windows 7. If Apple would come up with a bootcamp update that will work with OSX 10.6.8 and Windows XP and the newer MB110LL/B keyboard, that would solve my problem. Switching to windows 7 or 8 will not solve this problem.

  • Ultra 10 with KVM and usb Sun keyboard

    Hi,
I have 4 servers, two ultra 10, a Sun Fire V880 and a Sun Fire V250, I want all of them to be controlled form a KVM which has support of Ultra 10 platforms, that is, i have two cables with sun 6 tyoe keyboard and mouse. To the KVM i have attached USB keyboard and mouse.
The problem is that the two Ultra 10 servers won't react to the keyboard presses or mouse movements. Is there a way to configure the Ultra 10 servers to work fine with the keyboard and mouse attached to the kvm? is it a kvm problem or a USB mouse/keyboard problem?
    thanks!!

    Thanks Michael,
I had previously am Advovent KVM and everything worked nicely, with a type 6 sun keyboard and mouse. Now i changed to a blackbox kvm which supports this type of SUN keyboard/mouse. But i'm using now Sun USB keyboard and mouse. I can admin the Ultra 10 workstations remotely or though console, but i would love to have keyb/mouse access as I allways had.
I wonder if there is some incompatibility between the Ultra 10 workstations and the Sun USB keyboard and mouse or if it is just something related to the KVM... i could try and buy Sun keyb. type of connector from the keyb/mouse to the KVM and if it works that would mean that the Ultra 10 didn't like the USB devices indeed, but before wasting the money i would like to know if there is some kind of patch i could try on the Ultra 10 systmes to see if they support the USB devices... would a OS upgrade make the work also (let's say, to Solaris 10)?

  • Aluminum keyboard and KVM

I use a Mac Pro with two Cinema displays; when I want to use my MacBook Pro as well, I move the DVI connector from the second display onto the MacBook, and use an IoGear GCS632U KVM to switch the keyboard and mouse between the MP and the MBP. This works well with the white/clear plastic keyboard that came with the Mac Pro; I use the alternate port switching with <CTRL><CTRL>.
I just bought an aluminum keyboard for the cool factor, which works fine when plugged into the USB port on the front of the Mac Pro. However, the IoGear does not recognize it; I can't type when the KVM is set to the Mac Pro, I cannot switch between ports using the control, and I can't invoke HotKey mode with the Clear and keys. The latest keyboard software update on the Apple site is 1.2, but after I downloaded it, it told me that my current software is more recent than that.
Is there a known incompatibility with the IoGear switch? Or should I return my aluminum keyboard?
    Thanks!

I have a similar setup, except I have the GCS1734 and I switching between two macs and 1 pc.
If I plug the new Aluminum keyboard into the rear USB ports I am able to get the keyboard to work, but not activate the KVM controls as it is supposed to if plugged into the front. When plugged into the front of the KVM it's like there's no keyboard at all. I also tried to install the latest keyboard update, but seeing that the problem exists on the hardware level with the switch I didn't expect anything, and had the same result as you did.
I'm sure it's with the KVM, but I couldn't find an upgrade anywhere. I'll call IOGEAR tomorrow and ask.
For the record, this switch is highly compatible from what I can tell. I've used it with probably 10 keyboards of all makes and models over the years including several apple variations with absolutely no problems including all of the special apple keys (volume, eject, etc). I don't see what would be different here. Why would apple make a non-standard keyboard. I really think you'd have to state that it's not going to work where all other keyboards before it have. Silly. It's a shame cause I really like they keyboard, but I can't give up ability to switch via KVM.

  • Keyboard under 10.4.8

Since the last update my keyboard has been a nightmare to use, I use a Belkin adapter does anybody know if the last update messed up support? To get it working I need to unplug the dongle plug it back in then turn the keyboard back on. This works great however I found a disk error today and when trying to boot from the OSX disc the keyboard must not be pairing in time which leads to OSX restarting.
If anybody has any hints on drivers (Belkin say Apple provides all support and drivers) or workabouts Id be very grateful.
p.s. I have installed the latest BT firmware from Apple support pages
    Thanks for your time
    Gareth

    Hello Gareth:
I have no first hand knowledge, but I just read (someplace in another post) that there is an incompatibility with Belkin devices (apparently after the last security update). I suggest you contact Belkin, verify the information, and find out if they either have a fix or are working on one.

  • HotSync error when connecting Palm to foldable keyboard

    Hi,
I've used a foldable keyboard (P10802U) for years and it's worked fine on both my M505 and my T3. I recently it started to give me an error when I try to connect to the keyboard. It tries to launch Hotsync and displays an error that says "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". I've downloaded and installed a new version of the keyboard.prc. That seems to be ineffective. No change.
Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Is this some kind of software collision or has my keyboard suddenly self-destructed while I wasn't looking?
What kind of info do you need from me to make a determination?
Has anyone else had/heard of a similar problem? Is there a solution that doesn't involve a new purchase?
Any help would be appreciated at this point, before I start poking around in the dark and really break something.
    Regards,
    Deadoweyn
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have experienced the same problem using my foldable keyboard with a Palm Vx: as soon as I place the Palm on the keyboard it prompts a Hotsynch operation (which obviously fails).
I guess the reason for this is that I cannot manage to install the Keyboard Driver on the Palm. Hard to believe, but when I load the driver from the original CD, the .prc file prepares to install onto the device at the next Hotsynch operation. Launching the Hotsynch the Palm device synchronizes all the Data and Applications but at the end (when performing the cleanup) it forces a device reset which hangs the devices.
Thinking about a Driver incompatibility (which would be strange - as I always used the keyboard in the past). I have found on the web alternative (newer) drivers for the keyboard, which do not change the scenario.
The only way to get out of this nightmare is to hard reset the device and re-install the Data and Applications on it, except the Keyboard which seems to be incompatible with the Palm Vx device.
Any idea about why such a funny behaviour ? The only additional piece of information is that I have not used the Palm Vx for many years, causing the battery to discharge completely. Not sure it means something but I cannot simply think of anything else ...

  • Keyboard won't work after  attempted 2.1 install

I have XPSP2 installed on its on HD. I used Boot Camp Beta. When I upgraded to Leopard I installed BC 2.0 and everything worked perfectly. When BC 2.1 was announced, I made sure all firmware and other upgrades were in order and then ran the upgrade as an exe from the desktop. I got error messages concerning the apple keyboard (standard Mac). Subsequent to installation the keyboard would not work at all and Device Manager stated the keyboard drivers were not installed. After several failed attempts, I uninstalled 2.1 and attempted to reinstall 2.0 from the Leopard disc. The keyboard still does not work and Device Manager shows drivers not installed. I tried installing 2.0 and 2.1 in Safe Mode and I can't. I tried to repair the existing XP using the the install disc and that causes an error message. I am at a loss as to what to do.
    Help

I have a similar issue. I updated to 7.1.2 last night. Now my Bluetooth audio doesn't work.
The iPhone appears to be paired with my Bluetooth enabled car stereo, but will not play any music.
Initially the stereo said 'Bluetooth connection failed' but then I disconnected and re-paired; now both the stereo and iPhone say 'connected' but still no audio.
If I press play on the phone or stereo, there's no response.
I can confirm that my Bluetooth keyboard pairs fine and I can type, change the brightness and volume but I cannot pause or play music.
My guess is that there was a change to the iOS Bluetooth Audio functionality. One that's introduced an incompatibility with one or several of the Bluetooth audio profiles: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles

  • Problems with Apple Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

Last week my keyboard started repeating letters and not responding and the mouse started acting like an old mouse with a dirty trackball. I searched many message boards and got no help for my specific problem. I'm on a PowerPC G5 running OS 10.3.9.
Batteries are good. I have run both a hardware test and disk utility with no problems found. The problem seems to have shown up after an apple software update. Don't know if that could have caused some sort of system incompatibility problem.
Since both mouse and keyboard work with my powerbook, I don't know what else to do. I have re-paired both mouse and keyboard and had some problems with them showing up. I also have shut down the system, unpluged everything and started up again but nothing has worked.
If anyone has an answer I would be really greatful. Please help. thanks

    Hi again,
No, I had not even thought of that. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in and the problem may be fixed!!!!!
Since the problem is intermittent, I'm not sure yet. The worst trouble I've been having has been in trying to drag things across the screen and I have just been able to do that with several windows.
Yeah!!! I think you may have done it. I will keep this thread open for a while but I think that was it. You my friend are a genius! I'm a bit embarassed to have not thought of that. I didn't even remember that that antenna existed.
    thanks sooooooo much.

  • Connecting Casio ctk 900 music keyboard to macbook, garageband 3 can I ?

Connecting Casio Ctk 900 music keyboard to macbook, garageband 3 can I ?
    Can I? Are they compatible???
I can connect to windows but this is not much help.
I hope someone with Casio Keyboard and Mac reads this!!
    Thanks

You can record the audio output of the keyboard - i.e. its own sounds - by plugging the output to the line in of your Mac (if it has one) or to a suitable audio-USB interface.
You can use the keyboard to drive GarageBand - using GB's own sounds - by plugging the MIDI output (a round socket with five smaller sockets within it in a semicircle) into a suitable MIDI-SUB interface.
This keyboard, according to the published specs, does not have a USB connection so the problems about compatibility do not arise. (Casio keyboards with a USB connection for MIDI notoriously don't work with Macs). The incompatibility mentioned in the previous post concerns the transfer of programs and MIDI files to the keyboard rather than using the keyboard as a MIDI source.
There are a number of suitable interfaces around, such as those made by Edirol.
