Keyboard input bug, can't type apostrophe

I've been hit with a bug on ubuntu linux 12.04 where I can't type apostrophes (not on all versions, just on this machine). Every time I try to type an apostrophe(') in the editor I get a space instead. This is obviously quite unnerving. Does anyone know what might be causing this. Presumably since I'm only seeing it on this install it must be something configuration related. I upgraded to the latest version available but the problem still persists.

Does anyone else find that Keynote 09 sometimes stops responding to all keyboard input after a few minutes of running? And if so, is there a way to fix it?

N8 Keyboard Input Bug

I have a strange problem....with many applications including third party and even the messaging app sometimes when i'm writing long words the text editor crashes and the app too....

Wireless keyboard connected but can't type in password

I updated from an iOS 10.8 to 10.9 recently after my hard drive crashed and had to get replaced. I have connected the wireless keyboard connected but I can't type in certain key letters. I can only type in numbers and the middle set of letters. The other letters which I can't type into as my password.

It sounds like your bluetooth keyboard is connected but only some of the keys on it work. I recommend starting by performing a PRAM reset, and then booting to Safe Boot:

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.

Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information.

To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without holding any keys during startup.

Firefox is Hanging (not full crashing) every time I press a keyboard key.. can't type URLs, can't scroll. Problem started this week and remains reproducible sadly.

Firefox hangs (freezes) when I press keyboard keys on my laptop (and only then).
Can't type URLs or scroll with the keyboard, for instance. Hence why this is being typed up on Internet Explorer. The problem is that my version of IE isn't registering Flash and/or Java as being fully active and up to date and I use Firefox more often.
This problem only appeared this week but now occurs every time; and has persisted after uninstalling and reinstalling (personal options uninstalled).
Firefox version most recent 3.6 iteration; 3.6.13
HP G62 Notebook PC with 2GB RamDDR2 and Athlon AMD II P320 Dual Core Processor;
System running Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit
I can't even copy and paste because Ctrl+C is a keypress!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I must have touched a key that affected my Macbook Air keyboard. I can't type in anyfield. Help!!!

1) Try an external USB keyboard.
2) It is possible your MacBook's battery has expanded, interfering with the keyboard. Shut down, remove the battery (if it is one that can be removed) connect the MacBook to its power adapter and start up. Try your keyboard now.

Droid Virtual Keyboard Dead Zone - can't type p,l or DEL

It seems that my screen now has a dead zone in the bottom-right part of the screen. When I go to type the letters p,l or DEL, i get the letters to the left of them (o,k,m). The odd thing is that I can click directly on o,k,m and it works fine. It's almost like the keys were remapped.
Anyone else experience this one? Defective phone? I've had it for quote a while -- no cracks in it, no bad falls. Help!
Oh, and a restart or a battery pull did not fix it. Nor did a keyboard app replacement.

I just got my incredible in the mail. I was trying to enter a couple contacts. I found the letter "t" will not type. Switched to number mode. It is even worse, Can't type 5, %, ), all are in the same column. Contacts will not allow you to turn the droid on its side and use the horizontal keyboard. Tried calibrating the keyboard it makes it worse. I can touch the letter "Q" and drag my finger across the screen and every letter in that row will highlight as I drag over it except the letter "t". Same thing happens in number / symbols mode start at either the 1, !, _, drag across everything will highlight as it is touched except the 5, %, ). I have 3 other coworkers with the incredible they do not have this issue on their phones. The issue occurs for them when they try on my phone so, it is not me fat fingering. They all got theirs at least a month before me. So I am wondering if it is an issue with the new screens or just a defect in my phone?

Called htc... No help suggested factory reset which I didn't mind as I have no data on the phone yet. Did not work. Next suggestion... Download a keyboard app... The free ones are crap. Why should I have to pay extra to make the device usable? I thought a working keyboard was apart of the initial $200.

Keyboard input bug with non-english chars

Hi community, i'm facing a weird problem with the following flex application (something very simple, couldn't be more):

The bug is coming only on Google Chrome (on Mac), when i try to enter french special chars in the input field, let's say i try to enter the following letters: éèçà, instead i'll get ÈËÁ‡ (see the following screenshots respectively for Safari and Chrome)
I tried these browsers on Mac: Safari, Firefox, Omniweb, Opera. And it works like a charm for them. The bug is only on Google Chrome Mac.
I also tried on Windows with IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome. No bug either for them on Windows.
I've read on the Internet other people on Linux have the same bug sometimes (again, it's just for a couple of browsers and never all the browsers on their platform). I hope I don't have to tell my users to trick with their OS configuration. It's our job to make our apps to fit the visitor, not theirs!
Does anyone knows a workaround for it? A special configuration to do (compatibility mode with older Flash version 8, 9, something like that?)...

I just tested Firefox and Chrome on linux, i doesn't work either, but i get different weird chars: Ã©Ã¨Ã§a
However, on both mac and linux, if i copy the chars and paste them in the input field, it passes.

Can't type apostrophes on Photoshop CS4

I have a problem when using Photoshop CS4 on a MAC where when I type an apostrophe or single quotation mark it comes out as an i with an acute accent above it. When typed not next to a letter it comes out as e with dotted accent about it. This doesn't happen in any other programme and all other punctuation marks are all fine. Please help!

After upgrading to FF4 for Mac OSX.5.8 the Flash-based website builder WIX will not register any keyboard inputs; eg i cannot type in a title or use command+z to undo something, Why is this?

I am using a MacBook Pro with OSX.5.8 installed. I just upgraded to FF4. I have been previously using the online website builder WIX and now when i open up my website to edit it in a separate browser window it does not register my keystrokes. I can edit with the mouse and make changes but i cant type in any titles or names for save files or anything. Shortcut keystorkes like command+z also do not work.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Keyboard input without focus

Does anybody know how to write an application that catches the keyboard input all the time, regardless if other application has the focus. I want something like a windows service that runs in the background an catches all keyboard input. Can anybody give me an ideea ??

this can only be done using a hook...and hooks can only be done using native code....like c/c++/assembler for the operating system.

Also, I am trying to connect my Mini from the mini-Displayport to the Displayport of my Dell U2410 monitor. The image is very grainy,even though it is set to the correct resolution: 1920 X 1200 at 60Hz. If I use HDMI to VGA input, the image is much clearer. Is there a way to get the Displayport to work?

I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log. I don't know if they're related. How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.
I've found some discussions that would tend to indicate my errors are postGres related – I'm running OS X server.

Plz help: can i type Chinese using Apple wireless keyboard????

Kind of struggling whether should i buy a wireless keyboard for my ipad air 2 as i may have lotta word job related to Chinese and French, and i know that French is okay with the English keyboard, at least much eaiser than typing Chinese characters.
So the real concern is, can i type Chinese with the wireless keyboard without any problem?
I've seen some solutions (all didn't mention if it has been proved yet or not so i automatically assume they are all just beautiful hypotheses) posted in the community claiming you just need go to settings then select the international language you wanna use, and you will be all set (in both virtual and external keyboard)----is that true??? I understand that you would like to use the Apple Wireless Keyboard with English letters to type characters in different languages. This can be done by changing the import sources to type in other languages, including Chinese. For information on this process, please refer to the attached article.

I can't type with Chinese Input Methods in Mail and Notes

Today I suddenly can't type/input any word or character in Mail and Notes
when the input method switches to any Chinese input method like Zhuyin, Yahoo KeyKey and Bopomofo.
Even the cursor won't move when I press the " ↑↓←→"
The keyboard just doesn't work from " ` " to "→" when it comes to Chinese input methods.
However,
the keyboard works well as soon as I switch to English input method and I can type English in Mail and Notes.
I can type with any Chinese input methods in Chrome, TextEdit, Reminder, iPhoto, Contacts,......etc..
Is there something wrong with Mail and Notes?
Could anyone help me solve the problem?

I had the same problem (cannot input any word and move the cursor with Chinese input methods) in Evernote.
Evernote Support helped me solve it.
Here is how it works (for Evernote only).

We believe that reinstalling the latest Mac version may address the issue that you reported. Please perform the following steps:
Quit Evernote from the elephant icon in the Menu Bar
Drag the Evernote application to the system Trash
Reboot your Mac
Download and install the latest version of the Mac client:
http://www.evernote.com/about/download/get.php?file=EvernoteMac
When you open the download, make sure to drag the Evernote icon into the Applications folder instead of running it from within the installer package.
Eject the disk image and delete the installer file before you runEvernote.
