Keyboard is aulty, keyboard is faulty

Hi some lette on my keyboad ae not woking (guess which ones!!) Any Ideas?

I am aso having this problemllll. Slometimes the letter l is missing and other times it lll types itself into llllmy emailsl, etc., plus lthe quickl findlerll (current behaviour)lllll. The lquick lllllfinder problem is ridiclulousl:l I llllhave to turn the lcompter llvloume down so that I don't have to listen to the continous 'lphrase not found' tonell. I thought that I might have a computer virus, but I did a scan (no issues) and if I turn my lkey board off, the problem llll goes away. lI'm also have problems keeping my llA1314 lllllwireless keyboard connected. ll
Is this a fatal problem? The keyboard is only a few years oldll; I expected it to last a lot longer, given the premium prices paid for lllpple products.l eems that my capital lltters are now giving out...olllllllll

I have been using the iPad for several years. Recently I added the apple wireless keyboard. Ever since, when I do not have the apple wireless keyboard the onscreen keyboard refuses to appear. Makes entering text difficult! Wuld be happy to learn of a solution. Thanks.

Did you turn off Bluetooth after turning off the Apple Wireless Keyboard? Open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off.
Another thing you can do is, before turning off the keyboard, select a text box on the iPad (for example, when you type an email or you type on a Safari webpage) and press Eject key on the keyboard, so the virtual keyboard will show

These are user to user technical assistance forums, and nobody here represents Apple or any store. In order to find out whether you can buy something at a particular store, you really need to find some way to contact the store directly.

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

My Macbook Pro keyboard and USB keyboard will not work. However, the trackpad and USB mouse will work. Any help?
This is quite frustrating, since it randomly occured as I was browsing the web. It seemed to happen out of nowhere. I cannot login to my user account because I cannot type my password.
Any help will be appreciated.

If you have another Mac, boot the non-working one into Target Disk Mode (holding down "T" at startup). Hook up the two Macs via a Firewire cable. The non-working one will mount on the other Mac as an external Firewire HD.
Next, download the 10.5.6 Combo update from here:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
Run it. When it asks you for a destination, choose the other Mac that was mounted via Firewire. When it's done, unmount the computer and restart it. The keyboard and mouse should work now.

• Apple keyboard versus vista keyboard

Hi,
At my work we use Windows Vista and Office 2007, at home I use an Apple Mac book + Leopard and Office for Apple 2004. Changing between the keyboards on a daily basis is rather confusing. Under Vista I like to use Ctrl Z, Ctrl cursor, Ctrl delete etc etc and Alt F4, Alt Tab etc etc. Under Leopard it is different. I cannot make any settings at my work. Would it be possible to change the keyboard settings of my Mac book in order to have that keyboard functioning like it were a Vista Keyboard, while still working with Leopard?
Thanks very much in advance,
Peter

Hi Peter, Yes you can change the setting to match. Open System Preferences>Mouse & Keyboard. Select Keyboard Shortcuts from the selection in the upper half of the window. Scroll to the bottom and highlight Application Keyboard Shortcuts the click the "+" sign in the lower left. Choose the application or other(MS is in it's own folder so you need to pick Other) and browse for MS Word.Excel...
then type in the action...copy(For example) then add the click on the box below and hold don the "Cont+C" Repeat this for all the commands you need.

Hi ,
Do you remember if you have installed some software prior to this issue?
Delete programs you never use.
If the issue reoccurs in Clean Boot, but works fine in Safe Mode, the cause may be the disabled hardware drivers. You may narrow down the
causes in Device Clean Boot.
Device Clean Boot
=================
1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties.
4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK.
5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices
such as video adapter are not available to be disabled.

• Hardware Keyboard Versus Software Keyboard

What is the difference between hardware and software keyboards?
I'm trying to set my keyboard to Dvorak, but it only allows it for hardware keyboards.

A hardware keyboard is just that, hardware in that you can physically touch it and it physically exists. Examples include the keyboard on your laptop, the keyboard attached to your desktop, the sliding keyboard on the Droid 2, or the keyboard on the Droid Pro.
A software keyboard is like you see on the iPhone.
Dvorak refers to the layout of the keys on the keyboard.

• Replace noraml keyboard with Backlight Keyboard

Hello,
I am using HP Pavilion DV6-6C02tx for 6 months. Every thing seems fine, the only thing problematic to me is that it doesn't has a backlight keyboard. I just want to ask if there is any way to replace my keyboard with backlight keyboard. How can I find that my motherboard supports backlight keyboard or not?

Reviewing the keyboards on page 64 of this guide, I don't see a backlit keyboard listed. It is very likely this particular unit doesn't support backlighted keyboards since none are listed.

• Powerbook 15" G4 Keyboard Ribbon Cable (Keyboard Cable Connector)

I wanna ask, if the ribbon cable (Keyboard Cable Connector) of a powerbook G4 15 inch keyboard, could be replace. I have a faulty ribbon cable but only the ribbon, not the keyboard. I wouldn't replace the whole keyboard but only the ribbon keyboard, if it is possible.
If somebody knows, please answer my post.
Thanks.
PowerBook G4 15 Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I know this is an old post and you probably have solved your problem one way or another, but here is an idea.
If your problem is at the end of the flex cable where the contact material is you might look at the contact surface carefully. you might be able to identify where the actual contact area is and you might trim a 1mm or 2mm from the end of the cable and then see if you don't get a better connection.

• Problem with type ahead, maybe known as keyboard buffer or keyboard buffering

Hi, I'm new to Lightroom and am halfway through Martin Evening's excellent book, but there's a problem I have which I can't find an answer to anywhere so far.
I work on an older PC that has three screens. My problem is if I have LR on one screen and type into an application in another screen, or rather think I'm typing into the other application but actually the LR screen is still active, then LR basically goes nuts as it attempts to carry out what is in effect a random series of keyboard shortcuts. I have to wait for LR to finish jumping about and then so a long series of undo's and hope that one of the shortcuts wasn't a delete.
It's occurred to me within LR when I've been typing into the keywords box and predded Enter twice by mistake to confirm an auto complete suggestion by LR and so subsequently exited the keywords box causing LR to interpret all my following keyword letters as commands.
Is there any way to change this? To my mind there shouldn't be any need for LR to read from the keyboard buffer at all. Is there any way to turn off keyboard shortcuts either all of them or selectively?

Biganon,
If you are willing to experiment, you could try the following simple xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "nvidia"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "Configured Video Device"
DefaultDepth 24
EndSection
This minimal xorg.conf is only needed because xorg must be told to use the nvidia drivers.
It should figure everything else by itself.
For the Keyboard and mouse handling, install xf86-input-evdev, if not already there.
Start hal from the daemons Line in /etc/rc.conf:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs !dbus hal ....
For the Keyboard layout, copy the file:
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-keymap.fdi
to
/etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi
and edit this copy as follows:
<merge key="input.xkb.layout" type="string">ch</merge>
<merge key="input.xkb.variant" type="string">fr</merge>
I don't particularly appreciate this fdi thing, but, from experience, letting a particular
Desktop/Window Manager manage the keyboard layout is even worse.

Needless to say, if you try this, backup your original xorg.conf.

• How can you enter a line-break when using a Bluetooth Keyboard or onscreen Keyboard?

In Pages & Keynote the only way to force a line break I have found is to put your finger at the end of a line until the select/insert option appears and then selecting insert, then select line break.
This is frustratingly slow when typing a presentation or document so I bought a Logitech Ultrathin Bluetooth keyboard assuming that would have the Shift+Enter shortcut to make a line break. It doesn't, nor can I find any key combination that does, it's always a new paragraph, or nothing happens.
I have an Ipad3, IOS 6.1.3. I've spoken to Logitech support - they said talk to Apple iOS support, I spoke with a chap at IOS support who didn't know what a line break was, didn't know shift+enter on a PC made a line break so didn't understand my question and ended the call.
Anyone know how to create the shortcut as an alternative to the onscreen slow way?

Yes

You can also download the remote app if you have an IOS device
