Keyboard is buggy

So my keyboard works fine for a while after   startup but after a while it stops working the TouchPads light says it's on but I doesn't  work at all pleas help  me

Hi there ,
I would be happy to assist you. As there are many models of HP Notebooks, I would need the model number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? In the meantime, here is a document called Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 7) and one called Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista).
Please let me know the Model Number and any results of the troubleshooting provided.
Thanks.

  • Keyboard Short Cuts Buggy After Upgrade Too Yosemite Using Intuos 4

I upgraded my Mac to Yosemite. I am using Photoshop CS6 and Wacom Intuos 4.
Now keyboard shortcuts are buggy or don't work at all. For example brush sizes almost never changes using the right and left bracket keys.  Zoom (Z Key) won't work unless I tap on the window once or twice when another tool is selected. A lot of times I have to tap the window once or twice to get shortcuts to work like S-save or W- close window.
Anyone know if this is a Yosemite/Photoshop issue or a Yosemite/Intuos issue? I tossed my Photoshop Prefs and that didn't fix the issue. Any other suggestions?
On  a side note after the upgrade to Yosemite I lost my Intuos preference panel in System Preferences and cannot access or change Pen prefs anymore.
    Thxs in advance.

The provided links above take care of the keyboard shortcut issues. As far as Wacom missing prefs this is the information I received from tech support. I haven't actually tried this yet. I don't want to wipe out my current prefs unless I need to change something.
Thank you for contacting Wacom Customer Care. We would need to perform a clean driver install on your computer. Please make sure that you are uninstalling the previous driver in your computer prior to reinstalling a new driver as this would create corrupted driver files.
Also, please unplug the tablet from the computer before starting these instructions. Please follow these steps:
Open your Applications folder and locate any Tablet or Wacom Tablet folders you have Use the Utility in each of these folders and click ‘Remove’ under ‘Tablet Software’
Once the software is removed, restart the computer
Once this is complete, download and install the latest 6.3.10 driver from:
    http://cdn.wacom.com/u/productsupport/drivers/mac/professional/WacomTablet_6.3.10w2.dmg
As always, make sure your tablet is connected directly to your computer. Avoid using USB hubs, keyboard/monitor ports, or docking stations with the tablets, as they can cause inconsistent behavior. Also, please make sure that you are connecting the USB cable directly to the USB port at the back of your computer.

I have a Lenovo sk 8861 Bluetooth keyboard.  At times, it's very buggy.  Either it will not output a keystroke or it will only do so if I strike the keyboard firmly.  At times the Cap function won't work. I don't know if this is a function of Bluetooth failing, or there's a bug in the keyboard, or some other reason accounts for this. Has anyone faced this behavior & if so how did you address/fix it?

  • Buggy US keyboard layout on JIS keyboard

My Mac Aluminum JIS keyboard does not give the proper symbols when using a US layout. Correct me if I am wrong, but I expect the '@' sign when pressing the Shift+'2' key combination. Instead of this I get '"'. Is there any way to get the mapping right using Carbon?

  • 3.2.x Admin & Client is buggy - US keyboard on intl. systems

Strange. When I control a client older than 3.2.1, it now starts with US keyboard and this hampers login with a german system.

While there may be other programs that allow control with admin keyboard mapping... I don't know if you could get it included with a plea via feedback or not.
As I see it, and I'm guessing Apple does. Taking remote control just puts you in front of the client computer. To remap the keyboard (while most likely possible) would be modifying the remote users settings.
Wouldn't the simple solution be to have the Input Menu turned on the Menu Bar in the International Control Panel? Then as soon as you assume control, just mouse over and change the layout to German and change it back on exit.

  • Boot camp 3, windows 7, 13" unibody macbook and keyboard function keys....

after some screwing around (disable user access control, install tweak util to allow unsigned drivers) most features of my macbook are now working in windows 7. battery life looks abysmal as it was in vista, but i'll deal with that later.
the major glitch at this point seems to be the keyboard. the boot camp manager in the system tray has the keyboard option, which does nothing. pressing fn-f1, f2, etc does nothing except bring up help or the corresponding f-key value for windows. i manually reinstalled the apple keyboard driver, but this obviously isn't a driver issue - it's a keyboard manager issue. i notice that there is no more kbdmgr.exe in boot camp 3... at least as far as i can tell. what process is now responsible for these keyboard functions? it would be really nice to be able to eject discs, use volume, hit ctrl-alt-del, etc!!
thanks in advance to anyone who has figured this out.

to sum up: actually got 7 running, but all just to a certain extent:
Keyboard works rather well, even though the backlight cant be fully switched off in low light conditions. Low light is considered even if its still bright enough to easily read the keys labels, but thats just the same as in OSX.
The trackpad works half way, as a poorly working standard touchpad with + two finger scrolling (way too quick) + two finger right click. Tapping works, but dragging and tapping doesnt work technically (clicking a button then quickly moving the cursor is misstaken as dragging, feels inferior in recognition to other touchpads). Multitouch stuff doesnt work at all, which is a pain seeing that touchpad.
Sound quite works, but if u reboot the macbook in having the sound muted u need to reboot again with sound switched on to make the sound play through the speakers.
    CD eject seems buggy too.
Battery runs like 2,5 hours (4 hours in OS X). (Must be a driver issue, windows CAN run such a notebook for 4 hours too, just consider all those lenovo thinkpads)
Why the **** does installing Windows on a Mac feel like installing Linux on a random PC...
If anyone has solutions/hints regarding the sound or the trackpad let the world know!
Coolest thing ever would be to get synaptics drivers running with the Apple touchpad. Could be possible, since in Linux as far as i get it the macbook touchpad is driven by synaptic drivers as well. Would need some fiddling though, maybe someone manages?!

  • Premiere Elements 12 Problems  ... still quite buggy?

    Hi all,
I used Premiere Elements 11 up to now. Currently testing Version 12 - which appears to be quite buggy to me... Now I just wanted to make sure that it's not me being too dump to find the correct settings...
BTW: I'm using a MacBook w/ Retina from 2012 and most current OS X Maverics as well as a freshly updated APE 12 Testversion (...with German Language)...
    1. ...and most anoying one: scrolling in the Timeline left and right on (Apple Magic-)Mouse works now just the other way round than in APE 11 (...which was quite intuitive to me... :-( ) ...I've found some settings for the keyboard, but nothing regarding mouse wheel scroll direction. BTW: is it possible to use up and down scrolling to pan up and down the video-tracks instead of moving back and forth in the timeline (...again).
    2. Most interesting new feature of V 12 is the motion tracking (at least for me):
    a) I can only use motion tracking with those childish graphics and animation. I just want to use it for simple text as the help message suggests should be possible as well. But the button to place texts is disabled when motion tracking is enabled... is there another way to enable motion tracking on a existing text-and/or-graphic-overlay?
    b) I have a lot of videos filmed with a GoPro in upside-down-mode, meaning that I have to rotate the videos by 180 degree in Premiere. Motion tracking appears not to be able to handle that. While objects can be tracked (which is also not too easy as i had to find out) the motion track seems to be way more suitable for the non-rotated video... I've found no way, yet to rotate the track as well (without roating the graphic as well).
So... unfortunately Version 12 is a bit frustrating up to now... Thanks for your help!
    Losty

Sorry for your challenges, Losty. I'm having great success with version 12!
Of course, Mac Retina displays are known for causing problems like the ones you're experiencing. I'd hoped Mac would have fixed this by now.
You can certainly use your own text, graphic or even a picture-in-picture with Motion Tracking. I demonstrate how in tutorial on the left side of this page. http://Muvipix.com/pe12.php
As for 2b, I have no idea why you're shooting your videos upside-down, but you certainly are adding an unnecessary level of complexity to your post production. I'd recommend that you first right-side-up your videos in Premiere Elements and then output the finished video using Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD with the M2T 1920x1080 preset to output the fixed video. You can then use your righted videos in a new project and do all the Motion Tracking you want with it.

  • [Solved] Accents on US keyboards

    Hello everyone,
I have already solved this for my laptop, so I post the solution to help someone else.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1505, with English-us keyboard. And my main language is Spanish, so I normally use accents like áéíóú, and ñ.
The solution suggested on the wiki was not helpful for me:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acc … _keyboards
You may consider adding this other solution to the wiki.
I have found that the us xkb layout already has an International variant, with all the accents, so, to enable the accents on a us layout you only have to edit /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi and correct the following two lines as follows:
    <merge key="input.xkb.layout" type="string">us</merge>
    <merge key="input.xkb.variant" type="string">altgr-intl</merge>
    Save, exit, reboot.
To use the accents, just press the right Alt + the key you want
    Example: Alt+e = é
That way you get a lot of special characters (¿µñb®©œæøœïðßáöóíúüþëéåä, etc.)
    That's it.
There's no need to modify xorg.conf or install extra stuff/config files or scripts to modify the default layout.
    With this solution works perfect.
    Updated - June 30, 2010
The HAL solution doesn't work any more with Xorg 1.8, so I solved it by adding the keyboard layout and variant to xorg.conf:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
    MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
    Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    Option "XkbVariant" "intl"
    EndSection
Use "intl" variant to get á wit 'a, or "altgr-intl" to get á with AltGr+a

    Hello all,
    Excuse me for the delay,
For me, the problem with the Xmodmap suggested in the wiki was:
1- XKeyCaps program was buggy (didn't allowed me to select a keyboard)
2- The Example xmodmap file doesn't have the same keycodes of my keyoboard, so the solution was to manually create my own keyboard layout.
If I was going to create my own keyboard layout, I think that the most clear/clean solution is to create a custom layout for HAL. I was going to do that, taking the "us" layout as base, and that's how I found that the us layout already hast the international variant (and there are a few other variants, you can search the one that better fit your needs). The default International variant was good for me, so there was no need to create a new layout
I think that the Xmodmap solution is more like a patch, and it may create some problem or confusion in a future after several system updates...
Maybe some Arch expert can give us a better explanation about both solutions.
    Regards.

  • Did you have buggy Mavericks issue after installing on Macbook Air Mid 2012?

Before I have upgraded my OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 to Mavericks 10.9 it runs so smoothly and no issues or hanging that I encounter. But just this morning when I installed Mavericks, I have the following issues:
1.) When I was adding a book(pdf and epud files) in iBook, the Finder malfunctioned, coz when I browse the books to it's location so I can add some more again, the Sidebar icons disappeared and only the names left. And when I go to the location of the files using Finder, the content is nowhere to be found, just a symbol on the window’s status bar that it is loading or busy on something.
2.) When I go to the Launchpad, when I scroll to left and right to find the apps I’m looking using the touchpad, it's not as smooth as before. It tends to halt on sliding to the other groups of apps, seems like there’s a friction stopping it from sliding smoothly all the way to the next group of apps.
3.) Updating the Apps from App Store seems cumbersome like the iPhoto and iMovie, coz when the internet fails or drops its signal for a while or so, you go back and download everything again, and when you hover the mouse to see the progress of the downloaded app, it shows for example 22mb of 1gb then shifted to 300mb of 1gb then back to 22mb of 1gb then back again. It’s not accurate and going berserk.
4.) And I don't know if it is just me, but the screen profile have changed a bit coz the red color of the Power Point icon seem too red and everything that has a hint of red color seems exaggerated, it’s too bright red. I'm just not sure it might be the GUI style of the Mavericks. . .
Anyway, have any of you experienced these kinds of issues on your Macbook Air Mid 2012?
Hopefully this could be fixed and Apple would seed an update in no time.

Even on my MacBook Pro Haswell (2013) 15 inch retina with a GT 750 2gb.
The Things in Mavericks that really make me :
    1. The Launchpad is buggy when i scroll to the left or right... sometimes it doesn't even respond at all.
    2. Safari and Other Apps Like AppStore freez sometimes, and i need to force quit everytime, because its not           responding.
    3. Bootcamp Windows 8.1 <---- NOT 8 Support (Bad Keyboard- Facetime camera- drivers,
Icons (brightness, sound) are ugly on retina screen) + GPU Drivers i can't update (maybe that's normal).
    4. iTunes is very SLOW when Scrolling the Albums (i know its 2880x1800 and that's heavy for GPU) But it's just     not a good 'Experience'.
    5. Gaming its realy good on this MacBook, but please make the drivers better, i know this GT 750 GPU can do           better.

  • Keyboard freeze when texting in landscape mode

I'm finding that my keyboard may freeze when texting in landscape mode. If I turn the phone upright, I can resume texting. If I type a few words and return to landscape mode, everything seems to work fine. This does not happen all of the time when texting in landscape mode...only on occasion. I have not had any other issues using the landscape keyboard in another application. Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions? Using the iPhone 6 with iOS 8.

Yep this is an ios8 issue. Never had it with ios7 or previous.
This his is the most buggy iOS to date.
    Come on, Apple. Fix this.
THis is with iphine 5 as well.

  • Portuguese Keyboard Support on iOS

About keyboard support, I have 2 iPads (generation 1 and 2) and I still am unable to use it daily for work because of the lack of language support on the keyboard layout. That standard keyboard on iOS is fine for messaging but not for any article writing, since you need to have full character support.
Recently, on advice from a friend I bought the EasyKEYKeyboard app from the iTunes Store and it shows that a pratical full language keyboard is possible on a touch screen device such as the iPad. Unfortunately the app is a word processor on its own and does not bring that keyboard to the rest of the system. As a word processor is buggy and unreliable (no Save and it crashes, making you loose everything you wrote... Scary, never used it again).
Why doesn't Apple understand that iPad will only be used worldwide for serious work unless you bring full language keyboard support?
I can believe that millions of non-english users will feel the same...

    SilvaLazarus wrote:

You seem to be unaware of the standard iOS system for creating accented characters.  It is to hold down the key for the base letter and then to select from the popup menu that appears the version that you want.  You do not even need to activate the Portuguese keyboard for this, English will work fine.  But the Portuguese keyboard will give you Portuguese spellcheck and autocorrect.
The iPad has been enormously successful worldwide with a huge volume of sales, and a large number of languages supported in the OS interface, the keyboard, and the autocorrect system, which you can see listed in the tech specs.
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
If you find the screen keyboard too cumbersome for serious work, you can use a bluetooth hardware keyboard.

  • Not work 3 keyboard layouts

Then I use 2 languages,  Option          "XkbLayout"     "us,lt" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, then work keyboard layout.
If I use 3 languages in XkbLayout, then not work layout.
    There some part of /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
    Section "InputDevice"
            Identifier      "Generic Keyboard"
            Driver          "kbd"
            Option          "CoreKeyboard"
            Option          "XkbRules"      "xorg"
            Option          "XkbModel"      "pc105"
            Option          "XkbLayout"     "us,lt,ru"
            Option          "XkbOptions"    "grp:alt_shift_toggle"
    EndSection

You didn't tell what's your problem is though. I suppose you just cannot switch layouts with Alt-Shift, right?
Try if Shift-Alt (sic!) works for you. Also try grp:ctrl_shift_toggle (only RightCtrl-Right shift work, LeftCtrl-LeftShift switches to first layout instantly).
    alikas wrote:So it is bug?
Yes. Both xkeyboard-config 0.6 and 0.9 are buggy, but bugs are triggered for specific keyboard layout combinations.
For example, I had bug with 0.6 with my xorg config, while many others don't.
0.9 fixed bug for me, but now other people have problems.
As you may see in that bug report the problem mostly depends on XkbLayout combination, though I thought it was due to grp:alt_shift_toggle first.

  • Using as Media Center.....what keyboard?

Just curious on what keyboards/mouse everyone bought to use their Mini in their living area on the TV?
Someone said to get a bluetooth set but I looked at and office store and the cheapest and only one was $200!
What's wrong with just getting the wireless keyboard/mouse sets that have the base units as they are much cheaper?
If you suggest bluetooth as well where do you get a cheap set. I'm spending almost half the cost of the mini on the keyboard/mouse!

I use a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse I picked up from comp usa a year or so ago with my mini. It comes with an extender for the usb adaptor that you can place in front of your computer, or anywhere up to 4 feet or so away from the unit so you can get better reception. That being said, I'm about the same distance from the TV as you, have my mini underneath in a cabinet, and have the wireless dongle as far away from the mini as possible (but still in the cabinet) to get good reception while sitting on my couch a good 10 feet away or so. I know I'm at the limit of the range because sometimes I have problems with mouse clicks. All I have to do is move the mouse a little closer and I'm good.
As far as the cables to hook up for surround sound, you're looking for a mini-optical adaptor or straight up cable that goes to an optical input on your surround decoder. Apple sells some, I bought mine from american digital. Here's a link to the one I got which works just fine:
    http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=855&c=170&name=Klone5-10F t.Tosto3.5OpticalCable
You have to do some funky things to enable a digital surround stream through the cable... it's not as simple as plugging it in and going. If you're using dvd player (the built in one from apple) then you'll have to set it in the preferences. Personally, I bought a copy of Media Central from equinux
    http://www.equinux.com/us/products/mediacentral/index.html
which is a tad buggy at the moment after the latest apple updates, but was rock solid and pure joy to use up until then. Hopefully it'll get back on track.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
