Keyboard is not working, even as an external device.

Hello, I'll be very gratefull if you can help me with this.
I had some splashing issue with my cup of coffee and my laptop the other day, and then I had my Keyboard working in any way possible except for the right one. Like anyone would expect I bought another keyboard for my laptop. Now the thing is that even with the new keyboard, when I press the space bar, my computer writes "c". The most stunning part is that I also tried with an external bluetooth keyboard and the result was exactly the same.
I've tried to resolve this problem, by changing the language of the keyboard in the control panel several times, but the space bar it is still writing "c" in any language.
I also have tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers of my laptop without good results.
I'm using Windows 7 64bits by the way.
Thanks.

Hi Kadenian,
I am sorry to hear about this issue.
Let's do a verification here. Let's get out of the Windows enviornment and check whether the Spacebar key is working fine or not. For doing this, when you turn ON the Notebook, please keep tapping the F11 key that will take you to the Recovery Manager Screen. Once you are there, press the "Alt" and "D" keys together that will open up a Command Prompt there. Try using the Space Bar key over here and see whether the issue persists.
If the issue is not happening here, it means that this is a software issue. I am just asking you to do this just for a confirmation. If the issue is happening with an external keyboard, then it definitely points towards a software issue.
If this is the case, please try performing a Microsoft System Restore to a date before the liquid spillage incident. Please go to the section that says "Restoring Windows to a previous point" in the following document to know how to do it.

How does a usb keyboard attached externally work?
You might try a "hard reset" where you remove battery and AC charger, hold down power button 20-30 seconds and then reassemble and turn on. Reset BIOS (F10) to default settings, too.

Perhaps you inadvertently disconnected a cable when you installed the new RAM.  An appointment at an Apple store genius bar may be a good option.

  • MacBook Keys not working even after KeyBoard Firmware update

My friend's sister bought me a MacBook from the US last October. Fortunately, Apple announced the release of Leopard also on the same month and I got a free upgrade to leopard. I installed leopard about 3 months back. My keyboard was working fine when I had Tiger installed. After I installed Leopard, I remember installing a Keyboard firmware update once through the Software Update.
About two three weeks back, my MacBook started acting wierd. Some keys were not working (mostly 't', 'q', left shift, left command, zero which is not working even now. I couldn't close the last bracket because the key is not working. I am a php programmer and I can't think of living without the closing bracket and zero keys . But most of the keys works on and off.
After seeing on several sites that it is a problem with firmware, I once again downloaded the firware update, but couldn't install it since the installation wizard says that my system doesn't need it.
Can someone plz tell me what to do now? Will reinstalling help?
    Thanks in advance.

The problem persists everytime I restart my system or wake it up from sleep. But each time different keys have problem. I am now downloading update 10.5.4. Can someone plz help me?

    Hi Sandeep,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that a few keys in the keypad of your Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is not working properly.
Check if the keys are working in different applications. Some keys such as the function keys F1 through F12 will not work with every program. An easy way to test this is to open notepad or other word processing program and trying the key. Try getting into safe mode and see if the keys work. Remove the key from the keyboard and clean it. In some situations dirt, hair, dust, etc. can obstruct keys causing them not to work.
Please try to get into BIOS mode and see if the keyboard is working there. Tap F1 key while system shows the Lenovo logo to get into BIOS.
    1. If you are able to use the keyboard in BIOS, it could be a software issue. I would recommend in that case to do a System Restore which will revert the settings in your system to a previous time.
    2. If keyboard doesn’t respond in BIOS as well, I strongly suggest you to contact our technical support for assistance.
Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.
    Best Regards,
    Mithun.

  • Apple USB keyboard does not work with one internal usb port

    Hi everyone,
hope someone can help me to solve my problem. I have a MPB13 retina late 2013 since something like 3 months. I have additional screen (dell), usb wired keyboard (apple) and BT magic mouse.
Since a few days, my usb keyboard does not work well. It only want to work properly when plugged to the rights side usb port internal port and not anymore on the left one. It also work on a usb external concentrator. Before, I had no problem, it worked perfectly. There was no problem such as cofee on it...
After searching the web on such problem, I tries a few things such as:
I tried the keyboard on another computer (windows): works fine
I tried usb stick and external DVD reading on the left internal usb ports: works fine
I switch the MPB off and turn it back on: the usb keyboard still does not work on the left usb port
I tried the SMC and PRAM reset : nothing
    Any idea ??
    Thanks
    Guillaume

I'm facing the same problem, found any solutions ?

  • Keyboard does not work after using Support Drivers

I have a Macbook Pro 4,1 15" 2.4GHz C2D, and managed to get Bootcamp installed on it with Win7 Home Pro. I have verified that it runs correctly, but it is missing many of the drivers needed to make things run smoothly. I no longer have my Leopard disks that the machine came, so I figured the WindowsSupportDrivers would be the way to go.
When I install them and reboot, the keyboard does not work. When I hit capslock, I get the caution notice indicating underneath my password field indicating the capslock key is on, so it's not like my entire keyboard is disabled. The system is unusable right now, since I have to enter my password to login, and it does not take any keyboard input. Using an external keyboard did not resolve this issue.
I did a system restore to get it back to a usable state for the time being.
Is there an alternative to the BCA support drivers or the Leopard disk? What's going on with my keyboard after the driver update?

Maybe you have installed obsolete drivers. If you have Lion, open Boot Camp Assistant (Applications > Utilities) in OS X and download Boot Camp drivers

  • After Recovery with CD Satellite C660-1FE keyboard does NOT work

    Hello,
A month ago I purchased a Toshiba C660-1FE. After three weeks my HD broke down. I bought a new HD from Western Digital and replaced the broken HD. As I did not make an recovery image of my HD, I had to order the Product recovery discs off the Toshiba website (3 discs, of which disc 1 and 3 were the only one's required for installation).
Now, I have the problem that my laptop keyboard does not work. I am currently using a USB keyboard and mouse to replace my keyboard and touchpad of the laptop.
The laptop keyboard works fine in BIOS. Therefore, I hope it's just a driver problem.
    I have:
tried finding and installing lots of drivers on from the toshiba website, no result.
tried changing settings in the bios (usb enable/disable).
tried to fix the problem by re-installing the entire computer again several times.
The keyboard seems to work until windows loads. When the system is starting up I can press caps lock and num lock and the green lights come on. This all stops working once the windows startup symbol appears.
Perhaps a second problem in the device manager: under the display-adapter, 2 subcategories have exclamation marks: it says Mobile Intel(R) 4 series express chipset family twice! I can't seems to fix these with any drivers I can find either. When I check the settings I have this message (google translate since it was in dutch):
+The digital signature for the drivers for this device is required, can not be verified. Possible after a recent hardware or software change a file that is installed incorrectly signed or damaged, or is malicious software installed from an unknown source. (Code 52)+
+You need to restart the computer to this device changes to take effect.+ (obviously I tried that too)
Can someone please give me some help? I am at the end of my wits.
    Sincerely,
    Daniel

    Hi MisterX,
thank you for your response. I have tried these things and there is no such thing as PS2/keyboard in device manager. It's as if the Hardware is not even recognizable in windows. I am starting to doubt whether I got the right Backup CD.
I wrote the following e-mail to [email protected]:
    +Dear Toshiba,+
+after receiving the recovery CD's for my toshiba c660-1FE, it turns out that the drivers for the keyboard and touchpad are not installed. I have tried many things to get around this but it seems to me that I have received the wrong product recovery CD's. The chipset drivers are not the right ones, the overall layout of this version of windows 7 is different from before and when looking for answers in the toshiba forum I have concluded that the recovery CD's could be the wrong ones.+
    +My laptop: Satellite C660-1FE+
    +serial: 5B378048K+
    +Part-nr: PSC0LE 02M0TU26DU+
    +Recovery CD's I received are CD's 1-3 with serial R14254DU+
+Would you be so kind to check whether these CD's should be 100% compatible with my laptop?+
    +This would be greatly appreciated,+
    +Daniel+
MisterX, do you know any other emails I can forward this too? Or anyone who could perhaps tell me if I got the right CD's? They are taking their time to respong to this...
    Kind regards,
    Daniel

  • Finder keyboard shortcuts not working (cmd-c, cmd-v, cmd-a)

All of a sudden, the edit menu cmd functions are not working, such as cmd-v, cmd-c, cmd-a.
    Cmd-p still works.
Using a bluetooth keyboard, all the commands work.
But the built-in keyboard will not work for these functions, even under a newly created user account.
    Thoughts?

Have you tried searching for Cut in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog? Perhaps is somehow got assigned to a new command.
you may also want to try deleting your preferences. Hold down Option+Shift when launching Premiere.

  • Soft KeyBoard is not working on ios 7 with Air sdk 3.8

    Hi
In my app Soft KeyBoard is not working on ios 7 with Air sdk 3.8. Does any one know soluton for this ?

    Hi,
There's no question that TextFields and TextAreas weren't working in our case, likely because we have a deep displaylist with a variety of object types. Presumably, AIR has changed how it looks through the displaylist for objects that need keyboard, and perhaps we have an object type somewhere in the hierarchy that AIR no longer recurses. It's definitely something that changed, though.
It's no picnic to put together a sample app, I can't afford that time when I have a solution. But the symptom was very clear, a textbox would open, and the cursor would just blink with no way of interacting with it.
I'm happy using StageText directly, because it's a more direct way to interact with the OS and gives more control.
It also solves a bug in AIR that I haven't reported yet, but is as follows. Rarely, when you move the container of a TextField of TextArea after it has been created, AIR will crash and freeze iOS devices. It doesn't happen on Android or desktop, but with a user-base of about 100,000 of our app, we've had it reported maybe 50 times. One of our dialogs sometimes needs to reposition the elements, which is done animated. During this, AIR will crash about 0.01% of the time. We tried only creating the TextArea, but not activating it or even having it visible, but even an invisible TextArea will crash, presumably because AIR moves the internal StageText overlay around as well, and this confuses iOS after a while during the animation.
By using StageText directly, I finally also have a way to get rid of this bug, because I simply don't activate StageText until the object has already been positioned. Prior to that, it isn't even an editable text field, it's a label like anything else. So I'm happy I did this solution.
Let's just leave this thread as a record if someone else has the same problem. I'm quite sure it's because of our very complicated display list, and AIR having changed how it scans the displaylist for objects that need keyboard.
    Best,

  • Webcam is not working even after I reinstall the system software

My webcam is not working even after I reinstall the system software.
    My questions are follows:
Should I bring it to repair or get a external webcam?
At approximately how much would be cost for repair?
    Which webcam I should get?
    Thank you very much!
    Tian

Update, I fixed it although it feels more like a workaround. I had to enable the extension in extension manager. That still left a blank panel, but once I closed and reopened the panel I was prompted to login. Seems that closing and reopening the panel is the fix once it is enabled.

  • Keyboard Buttons Not Working With Update

When I first installed iTunes, I noticed that the media shortcut keys on my Labtec Media Keyboard were not working. They worked perfectly fine for Windows Media, but my primary audio player is iTunes. Then when I installed the 7.1.1.5 update, I noticed that my keyboard buttons were working for the first time with iTunes. Now that I just updated to 7.2, I notice that the keyboard buttons do not work again.
    Any suggestions?

Maybe some of the following ideas will help those wanting to control iTunes in the background (I don't).
    1. If you are running iTunes on a Mac (MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, or iMac) running Windows (via Boot Camp) then you can use the Apple Remote with iTunes (Boot Camp 1.2 drivers added support for the Remote). Therefore with initially iTunes in the background you can press the menu button on the Apple Remote to bring it to the front, and use the remote to control iTunes as normal. Furthermore, if you also have the Microsoft Media Center remote, you can still use the Media Center button to bring Media Center back to the front (pushing iTunes back in to the background) and then control Media Center.
    2. The KeySpan Express Remote is a USB infra-red controller with both Mac and Windows software. I have not tried this on a PC but on the Mac, the software has a special iTunes mode to let you control iTunes in the background. Even if you don't use this special mode, it can still be configured have the equivalent of the Apple menu button to bring iTunes to the front and then let you control iTunes. See http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/urm17a/homepage.spml
Most of the time, I actually don't use iTunes to play music, but to merely act as a server. I use a Roku SoundBridge M2000 to play music (I have three of them around the house), and this can be used with a Mac or PC. There are also other similar devices available like the Sonos ZonePlayer or the SlimDevices SqueezeBox (or even possibly the Apple TV or XBox 360).
Note: If iTunes is already in the front then you can even use the Microsoft Media Center remote to control iTunes!!
