Keyboard Issue - Works but wrong characters (and in Mail only!)

Running 10.4.9 - I had this happen before the update
A couple of the input keys (M, N, A, O, and others) produce the opposite keystroke. Oddly, this happens on ONLY in the MacMail program. Others are not affected. Thoughts?

No - definitely only keep ONE version of Helvetica*, PS OR .dfont (you also want to keep one flavor of Helvetica Neue).
If you have fairly extensive set of Postscript Helvetica, and you use it in your graphics Apps, that's probably the better choice.
If you opt to go with Helv PS, I'd put all the bits (Printer & bitmaps in as subfolder of the System/Fonts folder) just move the dFont elsewhere (not in any font folder) -- You'll have to enter your password
Keeping the dfont version is simpler otherwise, but be aware - you really won't want to use Helvetica Narrow PS (or a host of other variants in Adobe Apps.) And if you have a postscript printer, it may not be too happy.
Once you've made the change, I'd advise restarting.
Then: doing the cache cleaning (you'll have to restart again
(You still MUST run of the Font cache cleaners since the symptoms described are a giveaway of font cache corruption.)
There's an EXCELLENT named something like 'Using and Managing fonts in OSX' that can be found in the 'Pro' section of this website.
**Oddly, I haven't ran into serious probs with other fonts when both a dFont and PS version exist, but I definitely had issues with Helvetica dups.
