Keyboard keys showing different symbol to what I press
My keyboard isn't working properly, when I press the letter 'o' it shows the symbols 'oty' and when I press 'N' it brings up a new page of whatever I'm on. Also when I press 'L' it shows the copyright symbol followed by a dot and what looks the the letter 'L' floating on its side. Can someone please help with this? I'm just so confused and been trying all sorts of things for over two hours now.
Open system preferences, Universal Access, Keyboard tab and see if sticky Keys is on.
If it is, turn it off.
If this is not the source of the problem, try using a other keyboard to see if the problem is still present.
Also have a look in the Language & Text preference panel and check each tab to see if there is something wrong there. For example, is the selected language English? Is the Input source the correct one for you?

Not really a Pages user, but I am trying to make the switch from Word if I can figure out a few ways to customize Pages. I don't want to create a new paragraph style because I rearrange my lists a lot. I think there is a way to automatically create a custom list style, but I like to make lists manually because I frequently change things around. I would like to be able to manually add symbols. I know that Option + 8 will give me a bullet, but I would also like to use different symbols I found in inspector, like a black square and a black triangle. Anyone know if this is possible?
If what you're looking for is a more flexible way of quickly just including any symbol of your preference when you're taking notes (without establishing a more structured list like picas suggestion) there are a number of ways to use keyboard shortcuts to get a variety of symbols. Here is a link that you can use to hopefully find what you're looking for:

You can also try http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343 to find other keyboard shortcuts. -
Dear Gurus,
I have changed the control key in Routing as well workcentre , valid from also in back date. After that when I am creating order for that material it is taking the old Control key.what the reason why it is taking old one please advice me.
AravindHi Arabind,
Are you using any change number for changing the routing ? If so date of validity can have impact.
Try as given below:
Go to CR02 Change work center -Default values tab - For the control key tick the referenced indicator
Go to Change Routing -Delete the operation pertaining to that workcenter -Save and again maintain the operation with workcenter. Control key will automatically get copied from work center dafault values.
Now create new order and check.
Thanks & Regards,

Clip showing different source material
I have noticed that one clip in my timeline and bin is showing different material to what was shot. When checking the same source clip using VLC player it is completely different.
Any ideas how I can fix this and why I should be experenceing this problem with only one clip? (what appears to be isolated to one clip - hopefully)
ThanksHey, I have had a similar issue with premiere relinking to the wrong file.
Do your clips have names like; Clip0001.mxf ?
My work around in this scenario was to use automator to rename the files but keeping the clip number on the end. (an option in automator finder rename)
Then offline all media (being very carefull, making sure leave files on disk is ticked)
Then relink based on file numbers.
A draining process but this can fix the issue you are having.

Keyboard issue - types different than what keyboards shows
Hi,
before my keyboard settings were Spanish (Dutch), since today these settings are just Spanish ... resulting in some keys giving a different outcome than what it shows on the keyboard.
For example when I want to type \ by using the ALT + 1st button on 2nd row I keep on getting { ... and this applies to a lot of other signs/symbols as well.
I tried to change it through language settings but not to my surprise Spanish (Dutch) is nowhere to be found there.
What does this Spanish (Dutch) actually mean ... and more important how can I get it back?
I´m sure this is very easy to sort out ... I just don't seem to find the solution.
Can anyone help?Your keyboard layout is determined by what box is checked in system preferences/language & text/input sources. Go there and make sure that only the layout you want has its box checked.
There is no keyboard layout called Spanish (Dutch). Try Spanish ISO or Dutch and see if that is what you are used to. If not, please provide some additional examples of particular key combinations you want and we will try to determine which layout you should check. -
I have a macbookpro with a second monitor connected using an Apple connector. The two screens show different parts of the desktop. My cat walked across the keyboard touching various keys, and now the two monitors are showing the same thing. How do I undo what the cat did?
Have you tried HELP in FINDER? If you open HELP and enter 'displays' in the field in the upper right hand corner you will get a list of topics on setting up monitors. Specifically read 'Setting up multiple displays to show the same image' and 'Setting up multiple displays as an extended desktop'.

The "alt, ctrl and shift" on the left side of my keyboard keys integrated notebook did not work. What should I do?
Hi Luis Fernando Garcia,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This article has troubleshooting for keys not working on your keyboard:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1381
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Universal Access pane in System Preferences, click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sureMouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, seeUnable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by Mac OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Cheers,

My left shift key on Macbook Pro Retina (15") is behaving like the F11 key (show/hide open windows).
The left shift key behaves the same on the laptop keyboard and on an external Apple keyboard.
This just started in last week after 6 months of use. The right shift key and other keys on the keyboard all appear to work correctly.
Suggestions greatly appreciated.I have a solution to this issue now after a discussion with Apple Support. Some where in the last few weeks, there was a change in the key that would do a Show Desktop under the Mission Control settings in the System Preferences. Even though the key sequence that was shown for the Show Desktop setting did not include the Left SHift key, by changing this first to having no key sequence and applying that and then changing it back to the F11 key, the Left SHift key issue that I was having has cleared up.
A second issue that was uncovered was that the SSD had some issues (uncovered when I ran Disk Utility using the Repair Disk key). I had to restart and use the Disk Utility through the Command R sequence to get to the stand alone Disk Utility. The SSD appears to be running better as a result as well.
Hope that this is of use to someone else in the future. -
Sound keys on keyboard no longer control sound. What should I do to fix this?
Sound keys on keyboard no longer control sound. What should I do to fix this?
Hey Bill,
Check to see if the option for "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys." is turned off. When it is turned on, you would need to hold the Fn key while hitting one of those keys will make it work they way icons are displayed. To find out where this option is, go to System Preferences > Keyboard and in the Keyboard tab is where you want to be. Take a look at the article below for more information.

As far as I can see mostly Keyboards between Oct and Dec 2004 are involved. I would appreciate if Apple could have a careful look on this issue and take resp. actions as e.g. an extented repair or replacement program!
