Keyboard lacks copyright symbol???

Not a big issue for most of you, but what the ****?? This is just so plain dumb, Apple! I need to type copyright symbols in my calendar and emails and Apple's apparently deemed this symbol to be inconsequential. Apple has perfected the art of stripping down it's products for ease of use, but this is another unfortunate instance of stripping away the basic & essential. Hopefully when copy/paste finally arrives in the 3.0 update (again, basic & essential) I'll be able to copy the symbol from an email, though I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone and touch just don't recognize the character when pasted.

And, "However, in the United States, the term "Copyright" may now be used in lieu of the Copyright Symbol." This according to http://www.benedict.com/info/Law/Notice.aspx.
I read it on the Internet. It must be true.

There's probably another way but if you enable the Emoji keyboard (settings/general/keyboard/international keyboards/add keyboard/Emoji) then it's available there.

In elements 10, if your on a windows machine and when using the Type Tool, you can press the keyboard shortcut Alt+0169 from the numeric keypad to insert a copyright symbol.
On a mac i believe it would be Option+G
There is also a copyright symbol in the custom shapes>symbols preset
As far as i know pse 11 is the same.

For future reference, enable the keyboard viewer;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"

All the standard diacritical marks and common symbols can be accessed directly from the standard keyboard. ü is produced by pressing alt (option) + U, release them and type U. Similarly é is alt+e, followed by e.
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the marks will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
Shift+Alt will show more.

Did you use the the alpha-numeric keys, the ones on the right of the keyboard?
You can also get it (WINDOWS) via the character map:
Type character map into the search box. You will find the symbol there. Select it, then copy, then paste into your document.

Can't seem to insert a copyright symbol from any font into a Photoshop document

I merely want to insert a copyright symbol, in text. I am designing the reverse side of a postcard for printing, it is all text layers, and need to indicate a copyright.
I can not seem to find this symbol in any of the character sets of the multitudinous fonts I own. Nor have I found any easy way to see the character sets of these fonts. Must I create this as an image and import? Surely there is a more simple solution?
At this point, I will accept the symbol in any font whatsoever.

Also open International Pref Pane. Check "Show input menu in menu bar" at bottom of the Input Menu tab window. Among the keyboard layouts, input methods and palettes turn on the Character Palett and Keyboard Viewer. Now they will be available from a menu extra near the clock.

I ame using webfont Annie Get Your Telescope. It does not show any symbols. How do I add Trademark and Copyright symbols into text used in Muse?

I am a newbie, but I think I have a better answer. In the text frame, with the cursor where you want the symbol located, Just hold down the Alt key, and on the keypad (not the numbers along the top of the keyboard) enter 0153 and release the Alt key. The TM symbol will be entered as a character. Do the same for the copyright symbol (Alt 0169). I think this is MUCH better than the Symbols Lite widget which requires annoying and difficult positioning and repositioning if you modify the text the symbol is being applied to.
Another way is to just copy the symbol from any web page or document that uses the symbol, and paste into your text frame. It is then treated like any other character. You can display the character set for the font family you are using, or select a different font family with one that specializes in symbols.
Either approach is very easy to use, and much more usable than the Symbol Lite widget, it makes me wonder why anyone would use it. Also, It allows you to use many more symbols than the Widget provides.
Perhaps I am overlooking something?

You do not HAVE to put a © symbol on each photo. If you own the photos, you hold the copyright. However, nothing stops a viewer from downloading the photo and using it without your permission.
To protect yourself there are alternatives: put a ©2013 by ME in the description of each photo. Always add your copyright notice to the metadata in every photo.

Copyright symbol in XML Publisher report

Hi All,
I have the following requirement in XML Publisher report,
The user may include © (Copyright) symbol in the goal section (performance management module) and save it to oracle.
It is storing in oracle correctly and i am seeing the ascii char is 169 and it is support by oracle.
But, when i run the XML publisher report, getting the error "The webpage cannot be found"
Its happening only when there is a non-ascii characters like copyright symbol. Otherwise, it is working fine.
How to resolve this? Please share your ideas.

We are not running thru concurrent program. We are running from self service page and the Source of this XML report is VO (View Object).
There is no font installed under font files in XML Publisher Administrator.. Do we need to create the font files?
Please give me your suggestions.

What is the keyboard shortcut for symbols?

Somehow when wiping off my keyboard the buttons got pushed into a particular sequence that has changed my English keyboard into all symbols. Going to system preference/keyboard doesn't work because that says my keyboard is English. The other interesting thing is that the screen does a slow fade now when transitioning between say launch pad and then desktop.
Any one have a clue what I am talking about?

The symbols by be tied to the option key being stuck down, and the slow transition may be tied to the Shift key being stuck down.
If you open Language & Text System prefs, select Input source, and add the keyboard viewer to the input sources, you can select that from the Input menu and see if it shows the option and shift keys stuck down.

Watermark Editor doesn't display copyright symbol

I've downloaded some new watermarks to my computer (into word) and they will display in my watermark editor in Lightroom 4. However, when I use those downloaded type styles, the copyright symbol displays in the bar below but does not display on my photo. Does anyone know how to fix that? I've also used alt0169 but it still isn't visible on my images. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want a textual watermark with a copyright sign, simply paste the sign in as part of the watermark's text.

HELP! Copyright symbol not displaying properly!

Hi, I just uploaded a site and I have a couple of problems. The copyright symbol on the footer of each page shows up as a diamond with a question mark in it. Then on some other pages, like the FAQs page for example, the bullet symbols are displaying correctly but the em dashes look like a diamond question mark followed by a G with a squiggle under it. What am I doing wrong?

Also, it seems my footer is breaking onto a second line. It looks fine in Dreamweaver when I preview the page in a browser, but now it looks like it doesn't fit. It might have to do with the copyright symbol, not sure. Please help because I've already uploaded the site and I don't want people to view it messed up like it is, thanks!

Can I assume that you either copied this straight from word or pasted the text into Design View?
If you go into the code view, you will probably see the diamond symbols there too. For the copyright symbols:

For your bullets, you can either modify what you have or change it to an unordered list which is the correct way to display such information.
To change to unordered list, select the bulleted text and in the Dreamweaver menu go Insert > HTML > Text objects > Unordered List.
In code view you should see each line now has <li> around it.
To replace what you have, remove the symbols in code view and replace with •

Replace with:

For your em dash:
Insert > HTML > Special Characters > Em-Dash
or
add — in code view.
As for the footer, it seems to be a basic spacing issue. This can be amended several ways - increasing the width of the div/table cell, decreasing the font size, removing margins/padding etc. Or it could simply be caused by the additional diamond symbols on the copyright.

Lightroom export and copyright symbol

Why copyright symbol © from my metadata preset looks like (c) in the properties menu of the file after exporting photo? ( I can see this (c) in the properties menu- summary of the file)

EXIF only allows for ASCII-encoded 7-bit NULL-terminated strings, so the © symbol cannot be represented. So LR needs to change it to *something*. It is debatable if the (c) is the right thing to change to, as the US Copyright office only seems to recognize the symbol © or the English word "Copyright". Other countries may vary.
