KEYBOARD LAG: My iPhone's keyboard lags.

Especially when I am texting and entering information in Safari, my (Black 16GB 3G) iPhone's keyboard lags. Sometimes it misses a letter or it takes a couple seconds to do something. And usually all the sudden everything is erased or for example I get something like: apppppppppppppppppppple. It's a pain, but on some things, like entering contacts, it doesn't happen.
What should I do? Do I just have to live with it; is this something that every single iPhone has, or do I need a replacement. (And don't say I need to restore because I've already done that four times for different reasons, and this lag has been going on throughout.)

I'll be calling Apple tomorrow, and let you know what I hear.
As for low memory, that could mean RAM, which might mean you have a lot going on at once... I guess if some Apps run in the background. Most likely it just means you have many songs, videos, apps, etc. You can check how much space you have by clicking settings, general, about and look at what it says next to available. Also, after the iPhone is formatted, there is only 14.6 GB available.

  • IOS 7.1 keyboard lag on iPhone 4S

    Updated my software to 7.1 last night, this morning I now have a keyboard lag.
    Tried the obvious off and on, closed all apps, searched the net and followed steps of similar problems with the initial iOS7 update, turning off docs in iCloud, Reset all settings.
    None of the above are working yet social media and other are praising the new update of fixing their iPhone 4/4S bugs and lag, why has mine got worse and how do I fix it?

    My keyboard lag doesn't go away even though I restored from backup two times, once from iTunes and once from iCloud, removed any keyboard shortcuts, resetted keyboard dictionary and all thing you'd imagine and find from the forums! I'm very frustrated with you, Apple.
    The only thing that takes the lag away is disabling iCloud Documents & Data. It doesn't help to switch that option off for all the apps, it doesn't help to switch off using mobile data for D&D, The whole thing has to be off. Now I figure that's a huge problem in the iOS7, not any of the apps that make use of that feature.
    Please, Apple staff, respond to this! It's unacceptable that I can't use iCloud sync with my iWork suite on my iPhone 4S without waiting 5 or more seconds every 15s to be able to just type text. The keyboard lag is present in every app.

    My keyboard today start laggin on Messages. I've got an iPhone 5S Ios 7.0.6 of course not jailbreaked.
    I have the lag when i try to zoom for change the cursor in another letter...for example from "house I" to "housIe" where "I" is the cursor.
    I get the same lag when i jump with the cursor back to another word for example "house I" to "Ihouse".
    I tried to soft reset, to delete all messages...what i can do?

    I just started having this same issue iOS 7.1.1 on an Iphone 5.  I tried deleting all my messages, hard reset, and "reset all settings" and it's still a problem.
    To clarify, the issue seems to be only when I'm typing in the native message app, and when either touching different spots in the text to move the cursor, or attempting to zoom to move the cursor.  When the zoom bubble comes up, it freezes for a good few seconds each and every time.

    Thank you so much, I was having this problem with a replacement Iphone 5 that was purchased from Apple today with iOS7 installed.  I had no idea why this was happening as it didn't happen to my original iphone 5 when I installed iOS7.
    Turning off documents and data in iCloud solved it straightaway. Really pleased, you saved me another trip to the genius bar!!

    ipod touch 4th gen, in pages.app and some other text apps .. very bad delay in typing, yes. Filed a bug report to Apple.

  • Mouse (and keyboard) lag! help?

    I did a clean install of ML a week ago. After a few days mouse lag began to become a serious issue. The cursor jitters instead of moving smoothly; it freezes until a large side-to-side movement wakes it up; it disappears entirely. A truly irritating situation and VERY bad for productivity.
    At first I blamed the wireless mouse (the latest model Apple mouse) and/or its battery charge. A fresh charge did no good. I'm now using a wired USB mouse and the problem remains. It's apparent in all software (at the moment nothing but Safari is running and the cursor just froze for more than a second). Oddly the scroll wheel on the USB mouse seems to work when everything else is dead.
    And.. while typing this, the keyboard went dead. The spacebar alone was ignored, then other keys. Then it woke up. Sheesh. What's going on?
    It's a 2010 Mini with 2GB ram. I have an 8GB upgrade on order. Will that make a difference to the mouse?

    Update: the mouse is actually losing connection to the mini from time to time. It's les than 2 feet from the computer and the battery charge is 100%. Prior to installing ML I never had any issues with bluetooth reception.
    (I shut off the bluetooth in my iPhone and iPad to prevent interference, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference).
    Am I the only person with this problem?

  • How to fix the lag in keyboard after updating to ios 7.1

    My iPhone was recently update to iOS 7.1 as of the release date. As soon as it was done updating I unlocked my phone and the keyboard now and always lags and is not responsive unless you wait about a minute. I restored my iPhone and then restored it from backup and the issue continued. Can someone please help me solve this issue before the next bug update. Because I cannot text or type without waiting for my phone to respond.

    I have read that going to settings, general, reset, reset keyboard dictionary has helped. In the past, it was found that going to settings, iCloud, turn off documents and data helped too.

    This will pertain to both the first iPhone and the new 3G, both with the 2.0 software: My keyboard lags very badly, almost to the point where I can't even type. So I end up making too many mistakes and then go to delete, and the lag makes me delete too much! Both phones do it, but not all the time, and only with the 2.0 software! Any ideas? Any one else experience this?

    I have KB lag terribly; none of the above seems to help at all. Called apple "tech support" to no avail. Although they tell me that I am the first to complain of this problem, they even gave me a new phone bc the problem is "so strange". Glad to see I’m not insane, that others are experiencing the same issues. Anyone hear anything or get any other advice how to solve this issue that is making me want to chuck my phone! lol
    ps, clearing cache & cookies helps sometimes but still a pain in the tushy! GRRR

  • Major keyboard lag?

    I have a rather odd problem that comes up regardless of whether I am on wifi or EDGE.
    I am quite the Livejournal addict, and so most of my iPhone use involves that website. When I type a comment to someone, my keyboard it just fine. the taps register instantly and everything works as to be expected. However, when I go to type an entry for my own journal, the keyboard lags terribly. Now, all the taps eventually register: last night, I decided to try something. I typed very fast for about thirty seconds, all while the first couple taps registered about five seconds into it. Once I was done, I simply waited and watched as each letter enlarged and popped up in the text field, and about fifteen seconds after I had stopped typing, everything I had typed was finally in the text field. It even auto-corrected as I watched the delayed letters coming up. It was really strange to see.
    I tried this on both wifi and EDGE, and in both horizontal and vertical orientations, and I had the same results each time. It's tolerable, seeing as all of the text DOES appear as it should, eventually. But it is a huge nuisance and it doesn't seem like something that should really be happening. Any suggestions, or experience with an issue like this?

    It may have something to do with the way Safari's rendering the page, but, if you've tried turning it off and back on and it's still slow in that situation, definitely report it.

    My sons both upgraded their iPhone 4S to iOS7.  Now there is a major lag when they type on the keyboard.  Very noticeable on the password screen and in Message.  Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Hi ...
    Try a reset ...
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then try the keyboard.
    No data is lost due to a reset.

    I'm using an iPhone 4s 16gb and I've just updated to iOS 7.  typing has become really difficult.  The keyboard will lag for as much as 10 seconds after as few as 3 characters. Is there a quick fix for this?

    Same issue here both with my iphone 5S as well as my iPad2. THe sync to my macbook air does not complete and it shows a large overcapacity level when connected, but once I disconnect there is plenty of room (4 GB) available, not a 20 GB overage.

    I just update to iOS 5 few days ago, well, the new features were just fantastic, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG. Major LAG
    here are some cases：
    1. lag when scrolling（such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
    2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
    3. all game sthat once played well are now like a 16 bit movie.
    the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out. And want to shut the phone down.
    After I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,
    There was no problem when my iPhone 4 was iOS 4.1 and previous versions.
    and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,
