Keyboard layout.. HELP...

how can i create a keyboard layout on my own for an iPhone??? please need help....... help... how to assign characters to each UIButton??

If you don't have any Time Machine backups you may may have to build another layout. You could maybe find a template that is similar to what you're using and import it. Other than that, it's fairly easy to set up screen controls.
In edit mode, click on the screen control area and select the desired smart controls layout in the screen control inspector. Then click on a screen controller(i.e. drawbar) and select assign and map. Move the physical slider on your controller keyboard. It's mapped. Then repeat until all controllers are mapped. Next time, back up your files.

For the graphical keymap, try setting it manually like this:
    setxkbmap <LANG> -print | xkbcomp - $DISPLAY
Substitute <LANG> for the croatian language code (for instance, you would use "us" for an american keymap, or "no" for a norwegian one. I don't know the croatian one.)

Perhaps I'm not following your logic.  But why must you work with remote images?
Let's say your products page is uploaded to https://yourDomain.com/
and your local images are in an images folder that uploads to https://yourDomain.com/images/
Given that workflow, everything will be on the secure server so there is no reason to use remotely hosted images during development.

  • Help: keyboard layout mismatch

My keyboard layout corresponds to the keyboard in Keyboard Viewer, except of one key which is right underneath the Escape key (left to the 1 and above the Tab key). When I press it, it gives a § and with Shift a ±
The Keyboard Viewer suggests that this is the key to get a ` in combination with Alt. but it doesn't.
I tried different keyboard layout settings, but the one I am using right now matches best.
Any idea how to get that ` without having to use the Keyboard Viewer or Character Palette all the time?

Hmmm… I never even considered you would have this problem with an in-built keyboard. I tried every single key layout and none of them has a `/~ key where the §/± key is (right below the esc key).
Are these the only keys that are out of place for you in that they are swapped around? If so then you might just want to consider removing each key and physically swapping them around yourself. The keys caps of your keyboard are removable.
Another, probably a more sensible first, option is to go to the store where you bought your PowerBook and ask them to sort it out. Even if you bought it from the Apple Store find a certified service centre where you can go and ask them at least.
I'm rather confused as to your key assignments. By the way, what language keyboard did you buy?

  • Unable to change keyboard layout for all users on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to support national keyboard layout for Danish for all users on that machine. When I ran the powershell with script Set-WinUserLanguageList
-LanguageList da-DK it only sets the Danish keyboard layout to the specific logged in user. However the for other users its same English(US) keyboard which is not expected.
Please help me how to set the Danish keyboard for all users on the machine. Its Urgent! Thanks

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for reply.
But I need to configure everything using powershell script. Is it possible to use powershell script to setting group policy/ adding logon script ?
These are pretty basic administration tasks and almost always quicker to accomplish with the GUI. Why do you want to use a PowerShell script?

  • [8.1 pro update1] Windows KEEPS changing and reinstalling keyboard layouts regardsless of IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout

Windows 8.1 is driving me nuts beyond believe once again. I have 8.1 Pro update 1 English, installed from the VLK iso from our Volume License / SPLA account. As we are a Dutch company, the Location is set to The Netherlands, as well as the date/time format.
Therefore in my keyboard settings the language is Dutch (NL) but I set my keyboard layout to US, as below:
As you can see there are no other languages our installed. This worked for years with Windows 7 and before with XP. Windows 8.1 however KEEPS changing my keyboard layout to plain Dutch making my keyboard unusable. The language bar in the systemtray, or whatever
it's called in this OS, shows THREE layouts, which are actually 'selectable' and work as if they were installed. However, they are not 'really' installed, as per the screenshots above.
This is driving me completely mad. Why on earth is Windows making descisions for me which I should be making myself? In addition, in my oppinion Windows should NEVER change somthing as trivial as a keyboard layout by itself. People don't change switch keyboard
even when logging on to a remote system that has a different layout configured. Whoever came up with this 'automatic switching per application' idea once again had no clue of real-life usage at all.
I've added those two languages I do NOT want to my keyboard layouts and removed them. Sure they are gone then, and as only language NLD with layout US is left, the language bar in systray is gone as well. After a few days all three are back, and my keyboard
    is producing wrong characters again.
I've tried with regvalue HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout set to 1, to no avail at all. It just keeps changing. This should help to prevent my keyboard when changing when I RDP to one of my servers.
The advanced settings in Language don't help either:
'let me set a different input language for each app window' is unticked.
Override for default keyboard is now set to Dutch - US, like I want it. Doesn't help either.
I cannot reproduce it on demand, settings do NOT change when connecting to my RDP server(s). They do NOT change when I open any of my used programs, being IE, Chrome, CMD.exe, notepad and a few others. It shouldn't either as I disabled the 'keep settings
    per application'.
I have changed the keyboard shortcut from alt-shift or whatever it was to 'none'.
How to prevent Windows 8.1 completely from changing the keyboard layout I use? Is there any way to check WHY or WHAT actually changes my keyboard?

This might be really late to this post but I've been having this issue while playing games, particularly those which are complex enough to require Control, Alt, Shift. At first like some people here suggested
Windows Key + Space was the cause, but even after removing all alternate layouts (for reference, I want the UK layout, but it was switching to the US Layout) it was persisting.
This post pointed me in the right direction, go into your Language Options
    > Change Override (Advanced). At this stage I've noticed there is the Switching input methods section, look for
Change language bar hot keys and here I fount Alt + Shift
was being used for switching Between input languages - a key combo I'd probably hit quite often just purely by accident. You can change the key sequence to no binds.
I haven't fully tested it, but it appears to be working for now - and I hope its an extra option for people to look at if they're running into this issue.

  • [Solved] Can't login with current keyboard layout and `@` in password

Hi, I'm a new arch user. I followed archwiki to install Enlightenment17. All went fine but I have a problem to login since during setup I inserted '@' in root/regular user passwords. During setup I selected the Italian layout and all seems ok, except grafical login through entrance (from aur, but I tested also kdm, with same results): password not recognized. Before asking, is not a CAPS/NUMLOCK issue since the password works using it in console login. I discovered that I can type '@' with the following combination: SHIFT+2; in an italian keybord this should print a double quote (") but in entrance (and kdm) it correponds to '@'. After login this way, the keyboard works normally (for instance using 'su'). So the problem is limited to graphical login (entrance and kdm) during which a different keyboard layout is used.
Did I miss some config file?
    For the sake of clarity:
    1) /etc/locale.gen has "it_IT.UTF-8 UTF-8" uncommented
    2) /etc/locale.conf contains "LANG=it_IT.UTF-8"
    3) /etc/vconsole.conf contains "KEYMAP=it"
    4)
    $ locale
    LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
    LC_CTYPE="it_IT.UTF-8"
    LC_NUMERIC="it_IT.UTF-8"

cfr wrote:Have you tried specifying a variant?
I exclude a variant problem considering that in any other condition the keyboard layout is right. The system is configured for an it KEYMAP but it is obvious that in entrance/kdm is used an 'us' map. Is this hardcoded somewhere? I also tryed to comment out any entry in /etc/locale.gen except 'it_IT.UTF-8 UTF-8': still 'us' keymap in graphical login screen.
Probably a kind user with a non-us keyborad layout could create a dummy user with password containing '@' or '#' or any other special symbol to verify that this condition is reproducible, a first step for a bug report.

  • Devanagari in urxvt and keyboard layout...

I just started taking Hindi this semester, and I was wondering how to get urxvt to work with the Devanagari script. I know the man page specifically mentions that it doesn't support all the complex combining rules, but it should still work a little bit, right? I can't get anything to display except squares.
Also, what is the keyboard layout or variant for this script? Does anyone know how I could switch layouts on-the-fly with a keyboard shortcut or something (for instance, xbindkeys)?
Thanks in advance. Hopefully somebody can help; I realize this is a little bit esoteric.

  • Keyboard layouts, linux and Swing

    Hi,
I have some applications written with Swing. They run fine on Windows but on my linux box I can't type national (non-us) characters in it. I also did run JEdit which also behaves wrong - it can display non-us characters when I load file from disk but regardless of what keyboard layout I choose in KDE it can't recognize it correctly. Linux programs works fine.
I did some investigations and found, that KeyListener always returns 0x00 for those keystrokes which should produce national characters.
I need to be able to switch keyboard layouts at runtime without changing OS locale - this is multilangual application.
So, my question is: what do I have to do with my linux box setup to have correctly working keyboard layouts with swing applications? Mabe someone can explain me how java reads keyboard in X-es?
    regards,
    Tomasz Sztejka

Ok, I have found that when I set system locale to pl_PL (by export LC_ALL="pl_PL" from shell) then Polish keyboard works.
The problem is, I can't do that - the system locale must be left unspecified (POSIX or C) and Java application must be able to accept input from many languages all around the world.
For example, if I switch keyboard to bulgarian, swing sees some japanese (or similar) characters. On the other hand, when I will set locale to ru_RU then russian layout works correctly, while polish does produce garbage.
    Please, help!

  • [LR2 - SOLUTION] Using Lightroom in englsih with a non-english keyboard layout

Hi,<br /><br />Many of us, non native english speaking LR users, are using LT in<br />english on a system having a non-US keyboard layout. The conseqeunce of<br />this is that we can't reach a lot of keyboard shortcuts because LR<br />doesn't offer any interface for configuring them.<br /><br />However, there's a workaround. I'll explain here what I did for the<br />french language but you can apply this to your own language.<br /><br />For the non english languages, the keyboard shortcuts are defined in<br />C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom<br />2\Resources\<language>\TranslatedStrings.txt. If you are using LR in<br />english, this file is not used and there's no similar file in C:\Program<br />Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2\Resources\en.<br /><br />But you can create one containing only the shortcuts that you need.<br /><br />I have created  a new TranslatedStrings.txt file containing only the<br />keyboard shortcuts defined for the french version. I did this by copying<br />only the lines containing the following sequences:<br /><br />....Key=...<br />....KeyShifted=...<br />...AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut...<br />...AgPanel/RightPanelShortcut...<br />...MenuShortcut/DecreaseRating=<br />...MenuShortcut/IncreaseRating=<br /><br />(french users can find this file here:<br />http://www.mainsoft.fr/Files/LR/TranslatedStrings.txt .<br /><br />Copy this file to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom<br />2\Resources\en" and relaunch Lightroom.<br /><br />Now you have the same keyboard shortcuts as when using LR in french.<br />Interestingly enough, if you hit ctrl + < , the LR keyboard shortcut<br />panel is displayed and it shows your new shortcuts.<br /><br />Again, you can do the same for your own language by copying the<br />specified strings from the relevant folder.<br /><br />Hope this helps.<br /><br />-- <br />Patrick Philippot<br />MainSoft Consulting Services<br />www.mainsoft.fr

Yes… I would at a minimum contact Apple sales or AppleCare regarding this. You have two options though. You can ask for a new one, given they can't simply swap out a keybaord you need to exchange the whole thing.
Otherwise, you can use it as a bargaining chip and say ask for a free external International English keyboard and a discount on your next Apple Store purchase… for instance.
Regardless, be polite yet firm with them as you did not get what you ordered.

  • Key "N" working as N+ALT when i have multiple keyboard layouts

I have a weird issue ... I am using an apple aluminium keyboard with un-apple-keyboard, and remapped to act as a regular keyboard. I have used wiki article to achieve this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Apple_Keyboard ...
When I have only default EN keyboard layout installed, everything is fine, but when i add any additional layout (in my case Hungarian or/and Serbian) the key "N" starts to act kinda as ALT key... let me explain. when i press N it acts like i have pressed N and holding ALT... for example if i press n and f after it then i get this in console:
    N^[F
this is very frustrating because as i type i often end up in a programs menu {ALT+* combinations} , or with some unwanted chars...
I have tried many combination, but i could not solve the issue, so ANY idea/tip is welcome.
    Thanks in advance

Check out the "/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/" folder and edit whatever layout you're using (I'm guessing "rs"):
    $ ls /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/
    # nano /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/rs
As you can see, there are more variants in there, so try another variant.
If you have previously edited this file, maybe it will help to find out what package owns that file and reinstall it:
    $ pacman -Qo /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/rs
    /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/rs is owned by xkeyboard-config 2.6-1
    # pacman -S xkeyboard-config
Note that the "N" key is awfully close to AltGr (the right-side Alt). Maybe it's a hardware issue? Apple peripherals are overpriced pieces of faeces (mice and headphones mostly. Don't know about the keyboard; I'd much rather buy something else in the same price range).

  • Keyboard layout changing question

I use three different keyboard layouts: English, Spanish and Bulgarian. Back in Windows I added Spanish as a variant of English and used ctrl + shift to change English/Bulgarian and alt + shift to change English/Spanish. Now when I moved to linux I want to setup my layouts in a similar way. Is there any way to do it?

Do you use gnome? If you do, you can just go to System>>Preferences>>Keyboard and click on the Layouts tab. You can then add layouts from there. In the Layout Options tab, under the Group Shift/Lock behaviour section, you can select how you want to be able to change groups.. But, I'm not sure if you can make it so that one sequence changes it from english to bulgarian and one changes it from english to spanish... I do know that you can have say alt+shift have it cycle through english, bulgarian, and english.. You can also right click on the panel, hit add to panel, find Keyboard Indicator, and hit add.. That will add a little thing that says what keyboard layout you are using, and you can just click on it to change to another one..
If you don't use gnome I'm afraid I can't help you...
    Hope that helps

  • [SOLVED] Configure keyboard layout in X using Gnome

Hi. This is my first post since I just installed Arch two days ago.
My concern is about the console KEYMAP. I succesfully configured /etc/vconsole.conf so that KEYMAP=la-latin1 and it works almost perfectly. The only issue I have is that since my laptop was purchased in the US, using a latin american layout made me loose the greater and less characters (> and <), which are kind of essential characters for me and I'm already sick of copy pasting them. So I followed the KEYMAP section of the Wiki
Thing is none of the changes I make are taking effect, which is weird.
For now I'm only trying to get used to how it works so what I've been doing is the following (as the Wiki suggests)
    cd /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty
Copy the keymap (la-latin1.map.gz) to a new file personal.map.gz
    gunzip the new map file
Edit personal.map: here I'm just changing "exclam" for "dollar" for the 1 key to to test if it works before I add the characters I need
    gzip the map file
Change the default keyboard layout file that will be used by editing /etc/vconsole.conf (you might have to create this file) and changing the line that says KEYMAP=la-latin1 to KEYMAP=personal
then I tried using sudo loadkeys personal, also tried rebooting the system and I still get the ! character when I use SHIFT+1 which is weird (because I configured it so i would get the dollar sign)
Later I tried to use localectl set-keymap personal also with no luck
I seriously don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure one of you guys will be able to help me since probably I'm making some kind of stupid mistake I cannot figure out. You can be sure it's not something that stupid as exiting the files withouth saving. To be sure I also reopened the files later to check if the changes where saved and they were, both for the vconsole.conf  and personal.map.gz (which I gunzipped to read and then re gzipped).
I really appreciate any kind of help you can give me. THanks!

I have a custom keymap in use on my system because I hate the Caps Lock.  So that and a couple other small modifications were made into wonderwoofy.map.gz.  Using /etc/vconsole.conf works just fine for me.  But I did notice that if I didn't have early KMS that I ran into a race condition with systemd-vconsole-setup.service and the system actually switching the graphics to KMS.
Though my issue might be entirely unrelated to what you are experiencing because I was indeed able to change things with loadkeys (at the time I did this stuff, there was no localectl… or if there was I wasn't aware of it).  Maybe try making some other small change to see if there is something inherently wrong with what you have done in the first attempt.  For example, since this is just for testing, use a more common character like a letter or number to replace something.
I will tell you though that you are not the first person I have heard of recently who has run into vconsole.conf probems.  But the last person I read having such problems was at least able to correctly set their keymap with localectl (though the desired font apparently never took).
