Keyboard layout not taking affect in password boxes

I recently switched to the Dvorak layout on my iMac. Almost immediately, I noticed that this change did not affect when I was typing a Mac system password or Keychain password (I had to type the passwords as I used to, not the way I would expect to have to type them under the new layout).
This seemed strange to me, but I didn't worry much, just took it as a sign that I'd have to type passwords in QWERTY all the time. I speculated that perhaps passwords were stored as keystrokes, rather than as the characters that these keystrokes represented.
However, after a system reboot, my passwords stopped working again, and I figured out that now I had to type them in Dvorak, after all. This still wasn't too bad, I just assumed that the system needed to restart before Dvorak was fully added, and now it would work as expected.
Here's the really strange thing I just noticed: when I just changed back to QWERTY momentarily, my passwords were still working as typed in Dvorak! Changing the layout has stopped affecting the password fields again.
So, can anyone tell me how this works? The only thing I can think is this: maybe whatever keyboard layout you had when you logged in (and, thus, the one you had when you last logged out) is the one you are stuck with for the entire session until you log out? Does this really make sense? Or is something else causing this strange behavior?

Some reports suggest that choosing Dvorak as your default layout at system install time may remedy this situation."
.. and wondered if the same may be true of your password anomalies.

I asked this question in the stackexchange site a few days ago. Nothing I've tried has worked so far, except for creating a new account. Because a fresh account works, it's got to be something with my preferences, right?

Here's the question from above:
I created a custom keyboard layout with Ukelele (http://scripts.sil.org/ukelele) in Snow Leopard (idea is to generate scandinavian letters with Alt-key, otherwise have a pretty much standard U.S. layout). After the upgrade, the old installed (to ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts) layout wasn't working.
Ukelele seems to work OK in Lion, but whether I put the generated keylayout in a bundle or single file, or save it "/Library/Keyboard Layouts" or "~/Library/Keyboard Layouts" doesn't seem to matter.
Help?

Logged out, logged in, isn't showing in Input sources (I'm looking very closely between "Maori" and "Myanmar - QWERTY").
I've also uninstalled bunch of software and plugins giving suspicious messages to system.log, but hasn't helped.
UPDATE 2011/08/16:
I created a test account, and lo, the layout works perfectly for it. Also the bug in preferences doesn't show for that account. When trying this on my own account, there are no errors in Console logs with the suggested keywords (I can't seem to locate console.log file, though).

Nuking Library/Caches (and relogging) didn't help.

I did
% find Library -name "*.plist" -exec mv {} {}.renamed \;
and restarted, but it didn't help. I restored the situation with
% for file in `find Library -name "*.plist.renamed"`; \ do mv "$file" "${file//.renamed/}"; done
addendum: I also went through all the .plist files with plutil -s as described inhttp://www.askdavetaylor.com/can_i_check_my_plist_files_in_mac_os_x_for_problems .html. There was some brokennes, but in very unrelated applications.

Selection screen flow logic change not taking affect. Please help!

   When I am trying to change the selection scren flow logic I get the following message:
Selection screen: Report generation makes screen changes ineffective.
Whatever I am changing is not taking affect in runtime.
Even though I have activated the changed code for the screen
What shall I do resolve this?

You should not be changing the screen flow logic of a standard selection screen 1000. It will always be regenerated. In order to modify the standard selection screen, you can do this in the AT SELECTION-SCREEN output event and loop at screen and change the attributes.
Loop at screen.
if screen-name = 'P_CHECK'.
    screen-input = '0'.
    modify screen.
endif.
endloop.

Connecting nodes with uninode -apply
is not taking affect.

There are two problems with the utility uninode. They address different issues
and require different workarounds. Please review carefully.

<OL>
<LI>Applying changes to a nodes.ini
file using uninode where there is a mixture
of + and - nodes.

There is a problem with uninode where the flag -ALL doesn't completely update
all of the remote node information. If you are removing a node from a node
network, keep in mind that it is really a two step process: 
1)Connect to all "+" nodes and remove the "-" node from each of their databases.
2)Connect to the "-" node and remove the "+" nodes from that database.

The best possible workaround is to run uninode -apply ALL followed by
uninode -apply all.

<LI>Applying changes to a nodes.ini
file using uninode where there are special
rules of node connections (e.g. A->B: +1, etc.).

With this you are forced to use unidbfix -export
to generate your remotenodes.ini
file, and then you must manually edit this file as required. Run
unidbfix -import to
update the remotenode.dat file.

Run unidbfix -export
and then unidbfix -import
to update all the remote nodes
with the new information.

I've used the OITM along with the ITM1 and I still receive the "Updated Successful" message but no changes.
I created another pricelist within SAP B1 Client and updated the prices within that pricelist and it worked just fine.
I noticed when I queried everything from OPLN that the pricelists that I am trying to import have a different value for "Data Source" which is equal to O, I copied these price lists with Copy Express. The pricelist I created within SAP B1 Client has a Data Source = "I".
I've included the OITM and ITM file I used which was returning a successful result but no change.

Code changes not taking affect

Hi.
I made changes to code, and they are not taking affect, even after build and deploy, even after deleteing and re-importing the project, reloading the project, and even after restarting the server.
The old code seems to be executing instead - even though it is in a class I totally deleted (and replaced with a new class/file).
And when running through it in the debugger, and trying to step into the new method (constructor of the new class in this case), I receive the following error: Source not found for DateTableFilterLink (which is the old, deleted, class), even though the code now references a new class instead - DateTableFilterLink2.
An additional note: This code is in helper classes situated under src/packages in my DC
Any suggestions?

In bin folder:
The old class file no longer exists.
I deleted the .class file for the calling code, where I now instanciate teh new class DateTableFilterLink2 instead of the old (and deleted) class DateTableFilterLink.
I rebuilt and re-deployed my project, and still the problem exists.
The debugger still tries stepping into the old class DateTableFilterLink, and the result of the execution matches the functionality that used to be in teh old class, and not according to teh logic in teh new class.

DTW & ITM1 - Update is OK but not Taking Affect

HI All,
I've been updating price lists with ITM1 and receiving a successful notification after it is complete. However, the changes are not taking place in the DB, I have checked within SAP B1 and the SQL Server using a query.
I believe this is occurring with the OCRD template too as I was trying to update 1 particular field and it would not take affect although it notified me of a successful import.
Can someone please let me know what is going on?
I've included a line from my ITM1 template below which is successful when attempting to import:

[Solved] keyboard layout not being picked up

So I recently ran into a problem where my keyboard layout is not being correctly set up. When I run

ahhh. My locale is certainly wrong. I shall fix that, but that shouldn't effect the way that X configures the keyboard, right? I changed it anyway. Problem remains. I also fixed up my .xinitrc, that didn't help either. I think there must be something deeply wrong somewhere.
What I mean by worked and then didn't is that at my keyboard was fine (gb) with X, then at some point after an upgrade it ceased to work properly i.e. was being configured as US kb.

The QWERTY and PC layouts are only available when you are using a hardware keyboard. Is that what you are doing?

[SOLVED] Keyboard layout not setting correctly after gnome 3.14 update

Hey all,
After the gnome 3.14 update my keyboard appears to be reverting to US when I want to have it set to UK layout. It was fine before the update, and I have i3 & XFCE installed and for both of those my keyboard layout is getting set to UK just fine, so it appears to be just the gnome 3.14 update that is the problem.
Here is my contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf:

My situation showed an extra issue related to this change.
After the upgrade I started getting two layouts (us,us) instead of just one (us).
$ setxkbmap -query
rules: evdev
model: pc104
layout: us,us
variant: ,
options: ctrl:nocaps
That broke my variant setting, which was altgr-intl (set via /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf). I was able to manually set that to "altgr-intl,altgr-intl" (with setxkbmap), and that worked.
After adding an input source as described above, of "English (international AltGr dead keys)", everything started working again for my purposes, without manually running setxkbmap, but I still have the extra layout:
$ setxkbmap -query
rules: evdev
model: pc104
layout: us,us
variant: altgr-intl,
options: ctrl:nocaps
Does anyone know a current method for completely disabling GNOME's keyboard management?
(I've tried several things from Google, but nothing seems to work for the current version).

Configuration changes not taking affect

When I change the Them in FF, it falls back to a previous one.
When i save a password, it isnt auto logging into sites
Noscript, seems to be VERY forgetful, about what I set permanent. As in my HOME PAGE in Google, isnt allowed until I Set them again, and again, and again.
I set FF to run as Admin, and win7 still asks me IF, "do you really want to run this".. Its funny that the TAGGED FF on the bar, does not ask this. But the TAGGED FF only lets me run 1 FF at a time.
Its as if win 7 is not letting FF write its config file.

yes there are two instances on that machine, the changes to mime types was done through console for both the instances and both the instnaces were restarted including the Admin server. However, we will still see content being served text/plain. Please help, if you want I can send you the obj.conf, magnus.conf and mime.types files so that you can take a look.

Assuming that you were not using a Bluetooth keyboard with the iPad - or if you were, and you have turned the keyboard off and turned Bluetooth off on the iPad - try rebooting and see if the keyboard will appear.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Presets not taking affect when printing via adobe reader

I have discovered that after upgrading to Mavericks, when printing multiple page documents via Adobe Reader, it will not take on my 1-sided printing preset and instead prints 2-sided as per the default setting on the printer driver.
Has anyone come across this?

I seldom use Adobe Reader except for completing forms and printing them. Preview never seems to get those right. I did do some testing on my Mavericks machine and can confirm that Adobe Reader is ignoring a Preset I created for my EPSON WorkForce 1100. From the CUPS debugging log it would appear that Adobe Reader is bypassing the Apple print window. It would not therefore be picking up a Preset.
Wht make and model of printer are you using? If your prnter uses a PDE to set duplexing, I can imagine that Adobe Reader is not going that deep. It would look at the PPD and just use whatever is in there. If you let me know the printer make and model, I may be able to confirm that. I am not sure that will get you any closer to a sulution. It may help answer "why".

Changes in STP not taking affect in FCP

Hi guys... Thanks for the help in advance.
Im trying to change the pitch of my voice over in STP but the changes doesnt apply in FCP not even if i save in to hard drive. Doesnt mater what format i save it to. or what ever changes i do to the audio clip, when i save it and play the saved clip there are no changes what so ever.

Missing alternative international keyboard layout

Hi, there is no internationalization discussion group, so this is probably most closely related, sorry if not:
Most of the Central European keyboards in OS X feature besides QWERTZ layout also QWERTY layout, where such a layout is in practice (e.g. Czech). However, there is no QWERTY layout for Slovak language even though this layout is widely used in the country. This odd nonsense makes OS X poorly accessible for a great portion of people - it's a years lasting pain. QWERTY and QWERTZ layouts differ just inone swapped letter ZY.
Question: can this tiny feature make its way into next OS release? How to approach Apple staff with this?

If not, let us know the exact problems, and we can try to fix them. Making custom keyboards for OS X is usually quite simple.
You put this file in Home/Library/Keyboard Layouts, then logout/login, check its box in System Prefs/International/Input Menu, then select in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.
