  • Support for ABNT2 keyboard layout

Is there any plan for supporting ABNT2 keyboard layout (Brazilian layout)?
It is a great leap introducing international keyboard, but customizing keyboard layouts or including additional layouts would be a nice feature.
Some languages require the use of dead keys, cediles, cincunflexes, etc, etc.
There are some options developed by third parties: like Ukelele or Brasileiro programs.
My major concern is just about not using an official program when just adding info to my computer. One of my decisions when buying a Mac was about security concerns.
I would like to hear comments about risk concerns and tests about these 2 programs (Ukelele and Brasileiro) as well.
    Thank you very much,

Nobody here can tell you anything about Apple's plans, we are just users like yourself. To tell Apple what you want, use this link:

There is absolutely no need to be concerned about Ukelele and keyboards made by it. Countless people have been using them now for many years without any problem. I myself have made an ABNT keyboard available to people for a long time now:

  • Exchange a brand new computer because of the keyboard layout ?

    Hi !
I'm currently in Finland for work, and I bought a Macbook Air, it's brand new so.
    But I didn't thought of the keyboard layout, which is of course Finnish;
    Do you think I can exchange this MBA with a one with the correct layout back in my country;
Or is it better to return this MBA here, and buy a new one once I'm home ?
I'd like to be able to return or exchange the MBA in my country, is the refund/exchange policy international ?
    Thanks

The European law state you have anyway a 7 day open box return policy for this kind of product, I think I'll go to the store and ask if they can exchange it for one with international/US keyboard or give me a refund if they havn't got one.
I got a callback appointement with Apple Support France tomorrow (my country) to ask them if it's possible to use the warranty to exchange layout. But as you said, I don't think it's possible since the keyboard is working perfectly fine..

  • Unable to change keyboard layout for all users on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to support national keyboard layout for Danish for all users on that machine. When I ran the powershell with script Set-WinUserLanguageList
-LanguageList da-DK it only sets the Danish keyboard layout to the specific logged in user. However the for other users its same English(US) keyboard which is not expected.
Please help me how to set the Danish keyboard for all users on the machine. Its Urgent! Thanks

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for reply.
But I need to configure everything using powershell script. Is it possible to use powershell script to setting group policy/ adding logon script ?
These are pretty basic administration tasks and almost always quicker to accomplish with the GUI. Why do you want to use a PowerShell script?

  • How can I stop OSX from changing my keyboard layout

I have an English system, a French AZERTY keyboard (I live in France), and I work in five languages. I have three keyboard layouts installed, including French, of course (I use French numeric).
After a recent update, OSX suddenly started changing my input layout against my wishes. I have always set my preferences to use the same keyboard in all documents unless I manually change it - so please don't tell me about that feature, I know about it. It's not the problem.
It seems to want to revert to the system language (English) rather than the keyboard layout I've specified. I tried changing my interface language to French, and guess what? It wanted me to have the French keyboard layout!
If some Apple engineer decided we should automatically have the same keyboard layout as our system language - this is bad UX. Some of us touch type (and therefore are used to one keyboard layout) and need for it to stay put. Others use different layouts with different character sets (Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Cyrilic, etc.). Don't force me to have the "convenient" setting automatically with no override. If there is a way to get around this problem, please tell us. I've seen lots of complaints around about this phenomenon, but no solutions so far. Not from Apple, and not from anyone else, either.
    Thanks.

  • Does anyone know how to make an icon for a new keyboard layout?

I have added a couple of keyboard layouts to my input sources and would dearly provide them with distinctive icons, but all icon makers I find on the net seem to cater to PCs only.

Going to the App Store, there is a link for support.   That takes me to a facebook page:
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friendly-for-Netflix/
Which when I lookup the info, takes me to:
    http://www.oecoway.com/
Since there are no support links on the latter link, I would just message the owner of the Facebook page and tell them of your troubles.  If they are non-responsive, you may want to just as the App Store reverse the charge, with the feedback that the developer is non-responsive to user questions.  If it is functional for the $5 you paid, just keep it, and hope for an update you can use.

  • Some applications don't put accents with non-english keyboard layouts

I'm using a Portuguese keyboard with three different macs running Mac OS Tiger 10.4.8/9. Some applications (like Motion 2 and Swift Publishing 2) don't allow writing some accented characters, like (è) or (ê), that are accessed by Shift+normal key, but they do display correctly other accented letters, for instance (é), witch are accessed directly without the Shift key. This happens only in some applications and with a european keyboard layout (I tried it also with the spanish and french keyboards layouts), but not with other applications (it works all right with Word or iPhoto) and the english keyboards.
Any sugestion as how to solve this? If I create the text in some other application and paste it in Motion it works! But it's a drag.

  • Flash MX: default keyboard layout

My apologies if this topic had a better place to be posted.
I'm using Flash MX 2004 7.2. I use both English and Japanese keyboard layouts in my OS.
Every time I open Flash MX 2004, the default keyboard layout turns to Japanese. This only happens in Flash MX - in Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX, the keyboard layout defaults to English no problem.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    TIA

It sounds like it could be a Flash problem. You might want to also ask your question in the support forums run by the maker of the program:
    http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/index.cfm?forumid=15
You also might want to ask your question in a more appropriate Apple forum, like "Using Mac OS X Tiger." This one is for "Universal Access" questions.

  • [SOLVED] After a crash, my languages and keyboard layouts are gone!

So my CPU hanged, I rebooted, unfortunatelly a lot of my personal (and perhaps system) files were corrupted. All my personal GNOME settings were set to default. I had to wipe out the entire ~/.config/dconf folder in order to regain the capability to customize everything again. So all was left behind was my keyboard layout. So I went to `Regions and Languages` and... all but the system language (English) options were gone, including the layouts!
I just reinstalled the groups gnome and gnome-extra, no to avail
    What can I do?
edit: stupid me! The layouts were 'hidden' in the tiny window size of the thing!

  • Devanagari in urxvt and keyboard layout...

I just started taking Hindi this semester, and I was wondering how to get urxvt to work with the Devanagari script. I know the man page specifically mentions that it doesn't support all the complex combining rules, but it should still work a little bit, right? I can't get anything to display except squares.
Also, what is the keyboard layout or variant for this script? Does anyone know how I could switch layouts on-the-fly with a keyboard shortcut or something (for instance, xbindkeys)?
Thanks in advance. Hopefully somebody can help; I realize this is a little bit esoteric.

  • NCS and non US keyboard layout - Guest - Email ID and @

    Problem:
The problem is that we cannot email the Guest Account Details to the guest, because the popup where we fill in the email of the guest - Email ID - Does not recognise the @ when using non US Keyboard layout.
When i use my local keyboard layout (Danish) and press AltGr+2 (this is the keyboard "shortcut" for @) it writes nothing.
When i switch to US keyboard layout and press Shift+2 it writes @ fine.
    Version:
Tried this in both 1.0 and I just upgraded to 1.1 and it is still the same.
Does anyone know of a open BugID that addresses the following problem on the NCS Lobby Ambasador page ?

    Thomas,
Have you tried it from different machines and different OSes and confirmed that the common denominator is NCS and not your specific KB/OS setup?

  • Non-US keyboard layout problem with VNC

    Hi everyone,
I've got an arch box at work running tigervnc through an ssh tunnel so that I can work from home when I need to.
Everything is great, as long as I'm using and ASCII keyboard layout.
When I switch layouts, the keystrokes just don't get through to the server.
Here's  what I use to switch layouts:
    setxkbmap -layout us,ru -option 'grp:alt_shift_toggle'
So I need to type in russian, and I hit alt-shift, as usual, and start typing, but nothing is echoed back to me.  I can tell that the keystrokes are just not getting to the destination because if I'm at a terminal and I'm switched to the ru layout and I type something and hit enter, I just get a newline, as if there was nothing typed at all.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard
    language follow these instructions.
    Important:
The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device,
you need to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
    1. Open settings on your device.
    2. Tap General and then tap International.
    3. Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
    4. Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.

  • Tecra A4: Bios passwords rejected: keyboard layout trouble?

Before traveling I have decided to protect my professional laptop (Tecra A4) with both a Bios password and a harddrive password.
I went into the Bios, entered the main password, went on page 2, enter the disk password, rebooted, got prompted for the password, type it... rejected. Tried 3 times and the laptop stoped.
What is going on here? I *know* the password I typed, plus I typed it twice in the Bios screen, so I am *sure* of what I typed.
Sooo I am suspected a keyboard layout issue, as I have an Azerty layout.
Is it possible that when in the Bios admin the layout is one way and in the initial password screen, another way? I have used "a" and "m", letters that move between Qwerty and Azerty.
Of course I have tried typing my password with "q" instead of "a" and ";" instead of "m", but to no avail.
I am locked. This is driving me nuts.
    Any help welcome,
    David

  • What is the correct keyboard layout?

Hi guys I just purchased a new mac book pro from my local store and i'm confused about why my keyboard layout is different to the ones ive seen on the internet, im just wondering if you can take a look and tell me why.
    this is the keyboard layout that i see over the internet, and was adviced by support that mine should look like this;
    http://cdn.gottabemobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/macbook-pre-retina-keybo ard.jpg
    However my macbook pro's keyboard looks like this;
    http://mos.futurenet.com/techradar/Review%20images/TechRadar/Computing/MacBook%2 0Pro%2013%202011/open-420-90.jpg
Do you see how the return keys are different? can anyone tell me why this is?

Any will work. Lenovo uses 3 suppliers to provide keyboards. I tend to look for whatever one is cheapest. BTW, T410, T420, T510, T520 and some others all use the same keyboard
