Keyboard local Nokia 5800

I want to ask development support it is possible to be developed for the Nokia 5800 keyboard with phonetic placement of keys in the Bulgarian language. The proposed standard keyboard with BDS use is available for writing with 10 fingers, but understand it is impossible to be located ten fingers on the screen 5800. Most of the users of this model in Bulgaria using the U.S. English keyboard, for writing in Bulgarian with Latin letters, because Bulgarian BDS has a different location letters. The next question is there a tool, that can configure the keyboard and install it in the phone. I guess that would be the easiest way to deal with many problems.

In v40 firmware, it is said that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard has been removed. But I could see it while using Opera Mobile 10. Is there any way so that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard option is available in other places as well, like in messaging, while using nokia browser etc.

It wasnt removed. When in the alphanumeric keypad, just tilt your phone sideways to landscape mode and it will automatically show full qwerty. It only appears if you hold the phone in landscape. After all, what's it's use if you hold it in portrait.

Nokia Ovi Suite and Nokia 5800 crashing after fw u...

When I start my Nokia Ovi Suite (V. 2.2.0.245) it works as usual, I can brows around my content without any problems. As soon as I connect my Nokia 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006) it crashes. Worked just fine before I upgraded to the latest version on the phone.

Troubleshooting so far:

Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize with Nokia PC Suite.
Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.

Things I found are missing in nokia 5800 Express M...

Tsup guys, I`m having this new release of nokia s60 5th edition (Nokia 5800 Express Music) but since I bought it last month I`ve started discover some features are not working as I always used to see them to my previous handset (Nokia n73-1). At my previous nokia n73 when I`m on playing music that I`ve store in my handset and then the I receive the sms message its only makes a light beep sound even if I`m on profile that setted another alter tune for sms but in this nokia 5800 when sms comes in the middle of track playback its pause for a time from plyaing the song then start ring the current profile`s sms alter tune then keep on playing the track. On the side of adding sms recipients, if your forwading an sms to more than one person then you`ve started adding recipients by either searching or scrolling you might face some of the contacts doesn`t appear in your list after adding some others even if you do it by search contacts for typing the first alphabets of the recipients you are searching. So in order to get them you`ve to select OK then select the ADD RECIPIENTS again then you will find the contacts that were not seen before. Lastly, on the message writing. When I use the HANDWRITING style, I can write my things well but still up to know I`ve not yet find the area where I can erase the words that I`ve wrotes. Instead I`m supposed to change the keyboard type so as I can get the erease key. Can anybody help me to locate where can I find the erease key when I`m in mode of HANDWRITING style that uses a given special touch-screen pencil. I`m using it which means I`II keep discover many more things that seems these nokia have lack in this model & if there is anybody else found something please don`t hesitate to contribute here too. Nokia 5800 - No Support for TV out-mode?

I just recently realised that that is true for my set... That there is no support for TV out-mode... I've tried, audio comes out from my TV speakers but there is no visual. Is there anything at all that I can do to utilise this feature? I have after all been supplied with the wires and all...

Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.

It is possible that you have one of these devices. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Reasons to hold onto my Nokia 5800???

The battery ran out on my Nokia 5800 the other day and I had my old Nokia E51 spare and it was nearly charged up so I popped in my sim card and away I went, this only started me thinking why did I give up on my E51 for a Nokia 5800. My E51 has a screen I can see when the backlight times out, the battery standby life is tons better than the 5800 (touchscreen phones drains batteries I hear) I can get a good version of Internet radio on my S60 V3 E51 (something that they never developed to work on S60V5) I can have a screensaver on my E51 (the Nokia 5800 screen goes blank) the missed calls notification light on the E51 is more noticeable, The camera on the E51 (even though the E51 hasn't got a LED flash) is tons better than the camera on the 5800 (which is very grainy pictures in low light) the E51 is lovely to hold (and don't feel like I am holding the brick like 5800) the E51 fits comfortably into my pocket as its slim, The home screen has the calendar entries and six shortcuts without me having to purchase an app (as in shell for 5800), I can turn on and off Bluetooth simply by just long press on the star key.
So really all I am missing is the qwerty (I like that on the 5800), the Stereo Speakers/sound of the 5800 the contact bar of the 5800, er I think that's just about it unless anyone else can think of any other reasons why I should hold onto and use my Nokia 5800?
I know what I really want but there is no way I could get it I suppose, what I want is a Nokia exactly same size as the E51 with a pull out qwerty keyboard, flash, Same quality camera as the E51, even a E52 which I have held doesn't feel as nice to hold in the hand as the E51, and the E52 is missing that lovely chrome surround and smooth battery plate that the E51 has. - I dunno you would think with modern technology that a person who has had/used a Nokia 5800 would never want to go back to using an older E51 model but with me I feel reluctant going back to using the 5800 now and much prefer using the E51 now!

After using 5800 for a month,i once took out my old 1100 and it felt loads better!! Now i only use 1100 for texting and calls but 5800 is still with me for browsing purposes.I now understand the saying Old is Gold!!

Nokia 5800 Layout trouble!

Hey guys,
About a month ago, my new nokia 5800 which i recieved on a plan using virgin fell into water. I bought a new one from a website called topbuy.com.au, which came from Hong Kong, although claimed to be made at the same factory as all the other phones. When i received my new phone, i was suprised to see that everything seemed to be in order, and that it all looked fine.
When i started the phone i noticed many problems with my layout. It all seemed very awkward, and the Add button for the quick contact function was large. I also had 2 buttons saying telehpone and contacts at the bottom of the screen instead of the 2 icons that were there on my older phone. I also do not have the full screen qwerty keyboard available, or atleast cannot find it, when i want to text. Another small thing i noticed was that when i scrolled through with the stylus, for example through the messageing menu, instead of stopping at the top or bottom it would keep scrolling untill i stopped.
Sorry for the wall of text, but i would appreciate any help that anyone could offer.

It sounds like your new 5800 has the new version 40 firmware on it.
This version includes a new and improved contacts homescreen that allows for 20 contacts instead of 4. It's not possible to have the old version back. If you aren't bothered about the contacts homescreen you can switch to the shortcuts screen giving you back the two icons.
Menu > Settings > Personal > Home screen > Home screen theme > Shortcuts bar
The scrolling you have noticed is called kinetic scrolling. This was also added in v40 and cannot be disabled. The faster you swipe the faster it will move.
The full screen qwerty appears automatically when you rotate the phone when using the alphanumeric keyboard. Auto rotate needs to be enabled in the settings for this to work.

Nokia 5800 alarm bug auto-fix!

It is in fact pretty random. The change back to GMT didn't cure the problem for me and the alarm still goes off late. The phone also switches late out of a programmed profile and the scheduled backup sometimes doesn't happen at all.
The update to V31 is reputed to fix this issue - if ever we get it for our UK CV handsets.

Nokia 5800 Annoyances

I've just got the Nokia 5800 and think it's a great phone but there are a few annoyances that I have with it.
1. No predictive text on QWERTY keyboard
2. The notification light (white button) is inadequate
3. If screen is off, it doesn't light up when new messages arrive
4. There seems to be no msoffice or pdf compatible viewer/editor
I'm hoping that nokia will rectify some or all of these in future updates. Does anyone know of any inexpensive ways round these problems?

The only thing I could see to be fixed is the 4th point. There's the MobiSystem Office Suite and QuikOffice Adobe Reader LE Touch. I don't know if QuickOffice do a s60v5 touch version about the QuickOffice Office Suite. You culd buy or "come to the dark side of the force". Just your choose xD

Helllp! my nokia 5800 wont turn on...wont charge.....

I currently own a nokia 5800 and just recently it has broken completely not as in smashed up but i suspect a software problem because it will not do anything... wont charge, wont turn on, wont anything. Ive looked around the net and tried everything including hard reset but nothing has worked. Anyone else had this problem? So i was wondering... what should i do?? Am i able to send it off somewhere? Pleeeeeeaase help im dying without my music and texts.

Nokia 5800 Serious Problems not Solved??

I have been using 5800 for over 4 months and I have updated my firmware whenever it is available but none of the firmware updates solved the following very serious problems that turned my phone into a useless thing:
First thing is the text messaging problem:
-While writing in Turkish language, while the number of letters in a SMS got higher and higher just a little bit(more than 50 characters), writing a SMS became painful, because it got slower and and slower so you cannot write your SMS properly and fast! The last thing that make me crazy is that I write a SMS more than 300 characters in over 10 MINUTES!!! (This problem must immediately be solved)
I hoped that v21 update will solve the problem but it did not, my older Nokia 1110 can write SMS under a minute no matter how long is the SMS is...
Second problem is the snyc between phonebook and calendar:
-The problem is that you can add birthdays under persons in phonebook but why cannot we set those dirthdays as calendar events???!!!
V21 neither solved this problem!
Third problem flash not full screen!:
- The last thing is that when ever I start a flash .swf file in works properly but when I try to change the resolution to full screen, a useless screen keyboard pops up and you cannot chose to close this, so in reality you cannot use flash .swf files fullscreen!
The problems above are serious problems, that make the phone useless and must immediately be solved,
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEMS ABOVE?

The third problem there is a workaround: create a mini webpage with the following content::

Nokia 5800 Troubles and Suggestions.

I am sorry for my English, I am from Russia.
I have Nokia 5800, version 10.0.010 04/11/2008, User version 10.0.010.205.01, Language 05 (Russia).
Wearing has some errors:
1. In the built in Internet browser at mapping number from a floating point, the fractional part is not displayed. For example number 16.75 is displayed as 16. On the personal computer all displayed normally. If it is necessary, I can send a screen shot.
2. Photo the camera. The white balance in pictures is not correctly installed. The photo has shades yellow or blue. Basically it appears at shooting indoors and not depends, what lighting - natural/fluorescent lamp/heating lamp.
3. Customizations of the camera after an out from a shooting mode are not saved.
Suggestions:
1. The Camera. To make operative customization of balance white on a leaf of a white paper.
2. The Camera. To make saving of customizations of the camera and restoring to standard customizations.
4. Small lamp (lantern). To add the application "Lantern" on flash light-emitting diodes. Modes: to switch on/off and shine 1 minute.
5. Keyboard layout. Very often at text writing it is necessary to switch from Russian to English. Switching through the menu is not convenient. It is necessary to make switching in one click by the additional button on the virtual keyboard. For fast switching each user should set a “Set of Languages”.
6. To add the application allowing to store various notices in enciphered mode - passwords, codes, numbers of credit cards. For example application “HandySafePro_S60_Touch” .

Nokia Maps v.3.01 doesnt show my current location!! I have 5800XM, my old nokia maps (V2) showed my location on the map. and when i upgraded my firmwire to 31.0.008, this V3 maps came with it and it continued to show my old saved location which was saved last by maps v2 (faded red dot).!!!
help please...
google maps finds my location within seconds but nokia maps 3 cant.. horrible. is there any way to go back to maps v2?

Latest Firmware version for Nokia 5800 in India?

I am currently using a Nokia 5800 with firmware version v50.0.001.
I have installed the latest Nokia Suite (3.7.22) and it reports that there are no firmware updates available. I tried to find the updates using the Menu->Applications -> S.W Updates as well. This doesn't report any firmware updates either.
But the Nokia India page for 5800 states that the latest version is 60.

Availability of update depends on Product Code / Region. Also, for Network locked devices, update is possible only after an approval from the Operator. Seems oone of these is preventing you from getting the update. As both FOTA nad Nokia Suite is not providing you with the update there is nothing that you can do except asking your local Nokia Care whether they can help you ...

Nokia 5800 Preloaded songs Activation key

I have updated my Nokia 5800 with nokia software updater but after update the software I restore factory setting then preloaded 218 songs does not work properly and ask for activation key.
Also I dont have pin for my mobile that comes with music
Please help me to find solution

I had the same problem . I approached the local Nokia Care Centre and they activated the DRM (preloaded songs) without any charge. The process takes about an hour and is done free of cost. Please do not forget to take the original receipt (bill) vide which you have purchased the phone.

S60 5th edition/ Nokia 5800 & N97

With the Nokia 5800 being the first Nokia to have the s60 5th edition OS, and N97 soon to follow, who thinks that the 5800 is being used as a end-user testing device for the upcoming N97.
dont get me wrong, i its not a bad idea, but i just wonder if 5800 owners will get some of the features which has been shown on the N97 such as live widgets on the home screen for example which looks absolutely brilliant.
what do you guys out there think?

What the hell are you talking about??? N97 and 5800 are different??? N97 for rich-mans??? Hahahahha Just see this comparison, and you will notice, that N97 and 5800 is almost totally the same device:

N97 just more with the keyboard, and hopefully 5800 will get the widget-homescreen too, as both of them has the same operation system (s60v5), resolution and touchscreen...
