Keyboard modifiers for WB tool?

I seem to remember seeing a post with a keyboard modifier that would cause the WB eye-dropper to remain active allowing one to click on a few different spots before accepting a choice of WB settings.
I can't find that post now. Was I just imagining that or did I possibly confuse a shortcut from recently released competitor's product?

I don't know about a keyboard shortcut, but if you hold the mouse button down and move the cursor around the white balance will change on-the-fly depending on what is under the cursor.

  • Keyboard shortcut for select tool when in text tool

I'm trying to figure out the best way to use keyboard shortcuts in Motion 5, but I've come across
    a little issue:
Let's say I've been using the text tool adjusting text in a text box.   Then I want to go to the Select/Transform tool.
If I type Shift+S (the keyboard command for the Select/Transform tool), a capital "S" appears in my text.
The only way around this I've found is to enable the Select/Transform tool with my mouse, which I find kind of slow and annoying.
Any ideas?  Hope I'm missing something obvious.
    Thanks.

The escape key will take you out of text entry mode. See the "Text Tools in the Toolbar" Section

  • Keyboard shortcut for magnifier tool doesn't always work

    Hi!
I have some problems with the opening the magnifier tool via assigned keyboard shortcuts. I assigned opt+z as shortcut for the magnifier tool, and it sometimes work but often don't, and I have no idea why. It always works when opening the tool from the menu. I also tried to assign it to opt+x (which I have used for the "highlight text" in the same program, which always worked), but with the same results.
I have also found that if I press the shortcut for close magnifier (even if I have closed it already) and then press the shortcut for opening it will open. In a similar fashion, the shortcut for closing the magnifier (when it's open) won't work until I have pressed the "open magnifier"-shortcut first (which shouldn't do any difference.) This could either be a strange bug, or something is happening that I'm not aware of.
Help much appreciated (need to read and highlight pdf:s efficiently for university)!

This has never happened to me for Chinese.
I wonder what application you're using when this happens? Or does it happen in any application?
It's possible for an application to have a setting that matches the input language to the font. So I can guess that maybe what is happening is that your cursor is in Korean somehow when you want to switch so that the app wants you to input Korean even though you've switched.
I suppose what I'm suggesting is that if it is happening in one application, there might be an application-related reason.

  • How do I set the keyboard shortcut for zoom tool to be r-clicking the mouse?

I want to have the r-click of my mouse be the zoom tool like in Quark Xpress. Can I make the Z shortcut to choosing the Zoom tool instead a r-click? I know how to get into keyboard shortcuts - just dont know what to type in for the new shortcut to make it a r-click. right now its 2 steps to zoom rather than in quark 1. not that I want to go back. lol.
also, while were talking about migration differences and extra steps, is there a way I can hide guides and set overprint preview in one step? (this is something I do often and was just a simple F7 in quark)
so these are just 2 things that take 2 steps in ID but one in quark. not that I want to go back. lol

OK, I've been doing this since CS2 with no need for a script. To hide guides and show preview...
    1) Go to 'Keyboard Shortcuts'
    2) Go to 'Product Area - Tools'. Yes, you'd think it would be in Views! But the buttons for this is at the bottom of the Tool Bar.
    3) Go to 'Commands: Toggle view setting between default and preview'
    4) Click your cursor inside 'New Shortcut' and hit the key you want or type it in. I choose the unused F2 key
    5) Click the 'Assign' button and you are set. Hit the key to switch back and forth.
As for your mouse Zoom, use Power Zoom as described above or just hold down the Alt/Option button in 'Hand' mode and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Not one step but it works!
Now you won't miss Quark at all!

  • Set keyboard shortcut for Acrobat DC tools (highlight tool, selection tool)

It seems that this new version Acrobat DC does not have keyboard shortcut for these tools?
How to set shortcuts as the old versions (e.g. U key for highlight, V key for selection)?

Might this link be what you are looking for? https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/keyboard-shortcuts.html
I can't find anything on creating your own shortcuts. Actually, you may want to go to the online help and download the manual in PDF form.

  • Missing keyboard modifiers in CC2014.

Being able to add masks to any effect in PP CC2014 is great, but the implementation of this new effect... SUCKS!
The Premiere team seems to have forgotten to add keyboard modifiers for manipulating masks.  That right, the Shift and Alt modifiers (for constraining proportions, etc) we've come to take for granted in Photoshop & AE (and even in PP's own Titler for that matter!), are missing in Premiere's new mask effects!  So if you want to use this effect to create an opacity vignette for example, you have to drag out each side of the mask, one... by one... by one... by one...
Remember the fiasco about the Crop tool not having something as basic as side handles for years on end, until Adobe finally admitted their horrible design flaw and fixed it in CS6?  Well... it's BACK!  The square masks have corner handles but... no side handles!  Adobe, are you ***ing with us?!  What should be so easy to do, stretch out a side of the square mask, becomes an arduous task if you hope to keep your mask rectangular with no slanted edges.  This is just about as bad a design I've ever seen in software!  Clearly there are some seriously design-challenged people working at Adobe.
How many years of FRs and complaining will it take for Adobe to add side handles this time around? 3? 5?  Its clear from some of the great new features in CC2014 that there are some brilliant minds working on the Premiere team.  But from the inexplicably obvious design blunders that keep getting committed again and again, it's also becoming ever so clear that there are some real ***** (insert own word) making such horrible decisions that they've got no place working at Adobe.  Just my point of view.
Adobe, please stop screwing with us and get things right the first time around, instead of releasing half-baked features, just to call the proper version a new 'feature' years later!

I concur and I also know (as fact) that some best work and advice from in the team  is being "over ruled" in the push to democratise  the software in the aim of increased  sales to dumber users.

  • Keyboard shutcut for choosing background color when brush tool is active?

    Hello,
I've forgotten the keyboard shortcut for choosing a background color when the brush tool is the active tool . Holding down the alt key with the brush selected chooses the foreground color. What key do you hold down to select the background color?  I'm on a mac. Thanks.

    caligula1 wrote:
One keyboard shortcut for choosing a background color that you might not be aware of is opt + I  (on a mac)
That's interesting, but is it a lower case L or upper case i?  I certainly can't make it work on a PC.
A couple of thought for you...  There are no easy to use shortcuts unused in Photoshop nowadays, so I sometimes steal them from little or never used operations.  For instance, how many people use H for panning instead of the Space bar.  I know H has the benefit of locking in panning, but I don't think I have 'ever' had a need for it.  I have, in the past, stolen Y from Blur and Smudge, but I have not done so in recent versions.
But for quickly and constantly picking background colours, you need a convenient key, and that suggests the Z key to me, as I always zoom with the mouse and Ctrl (or Alt) Space bar.  Just a thought.
Another option is the Wacom Express keys if you are using a tablet that has them.  The Keystroke option won't accept some combinations, but I think it would be doable
Shift F4 is for an Action I used to use a few versions back, to place guides at 50% vertical and horizontal.  They are easy to snap drag nowadays.
One last idea on a similar vein, are programmable keys on custom keyboards.  I don't know if they are available for the Mac, but I use a Logitech G110 which has 12 programmable keys on the left of the usual layout.  These 12 keys can be programed three different ways, and selected by the M keys above.  I originally bought this keyboard for its illuminated keys, but I quickly got used to the extra functionality.  Even the little volume control, in the top right corner, (highlighted in magenta below) is such a convenience. I use these keys for launching Actions,, although I found I had to make both G8 and G12 mirror the Ctrl key as I occasionally hit them by mistake.

  • Keyboard shortcut for Spot Removal Tool

With my previous version of LR (2.1) I was able to activate/deactivate the spot removal tool using "N" on the keyboard.  With 3.3 hitting "N" while the spot removal tool is active sends me back to Library which I guess is a form of deactivation but not the one I'm used to.
Has the shortcut for this tool changed?

  • How do I generate a list of keyboard shortcuts for any given application

I want to generate a list of keyboard shortcuts for all of the applications I have on my Mac. I want the list to be a simple text (or rtf) file that I can edit and organize. (By edit, I don't mean change the shortcuts, only the report of them.)
I was using Key Cue, but it does not let me save the list to a text file.
I want this for several purposes. One is to have a easy to reference list of shortcuts to learn. Another is to find unused key combinations that I can use for my own keyboard shortcuts that I create with DefaultKeyBinding.dict.
Note: The program doesn't have to an OS X app. A program that runs from a shell without a GUI is plenty adequate.
If there is a way to read the keyboard commands from a plist list or other such file, and any of you know the format for these or where I can find them, I can write a Perl script myself to do it.

Well, the info is stored in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist
PlistPro has a way to convert it to ASCII, but you'll srtill have work to do, as...

  • Keyboard shortcuts for text selection not working in Flash CC

In the new Code Editor in Flash CC running on Mac OS X, most standard Keyboard Shortcuts for traversing through the text work as expected (as the Operating System works globally) but there is one that doesn't and it's I think the most important one.
Hitting "OPTION + SHIFT + [right or left arrow keys]" to select words doesn't work. Hitting "OPTION + [right or left arrow keys]" works as expected, moving the cursor to the next word or break point, but adding shift doesn't do the selection.
I don't understand why this changed since it's a basic OS global shortcuts, and every other program behaves the way it should. Flash CS6 running on the same system behaves fine, but Flash CC doesn't. If you have ever written code, you know that any second that a programmers hand doesn't have to leave the keyboard to search for the mouse is invaluable, and this has forced me to stop using Flash CC and use Flash CS6 to edit my Action Script classes becuase it's unusable otherwise.
These shortcuts are also not listed in the keyboard shortcuts for the program, so I can't change the default behavior. Does anybody know if there's a way to set it back to the way it was before, or just disable special text shortcuts so that selecting text behaves like any other application in the operating system?

Amy~ Yep the lasso tool was what I verified with another user. 'L' seems to be bound indefinitely to loop through different types of lasso tools and it was annoying them because they just wanted L to be the regular freehand lasso. I removed 'L' from being an option on the polygon lasso and even set it explicitly to SHIFT+L as well as set the lasso tool to a completely different keyboard combo. 'L' still cycled through lassos haha. It needs some fixes.
fertolg~ At least you have a workaround for now. I'd go nuts if I couldn't use keyboard text selection writing code, oy! You're welcome and if you're all set please mark correct so we can filter unanswered. Good luck!
