Keyboard, Mouse & Monitor freeze constantly, getting no Signal

My peripherals freeze, must reboot or unplug a few times. The keyboard and or the mouse will just freeze getting no signal, they are on separate USB ports BTW. This happens lately booted into most any of my drives which are separate volumes of their own. Tech Tools Pro tests failed the install CD, would this be a likely culprit?
Monitor gets no signal after waking from sleep mode. I hooked up a new HDD and did a fresh install, same problem. I erased a disk and fresh installed, same problem. I correct permissions on an hourly basis. The hard shutdowns that result cause directory damage. This is no good and there doesn't seem to be any solution on these forums yet why this glitzch is recurring. Where is the corruption coming from?

Just for reference, here is the summery for SINGLE USER MODE as well as VERBOSE. It would be better if AppleJack included this with their "Read Me," since it is an important, required step.
Summary
You can use key combinations to start up the computer in either single-user mode or verbose mode. These may be used for troubleshooting or software development.
Products Affected
Mac OS X 10.0, Mac OS X 10.1, Mac OS X 10.2, Mac OS X 10.3, Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X Server, Mac OS X 10.5
Starting up in single-user or verbose mode
1. Shut down the computer if it is on.
2. Press the power button to start the computer.
3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) key and one of the following:
the "s" key for single-user mode. (Command-S)
the "v" key for verbose mode. (Command-V)
You have successfully entered single-user or verbose mode when you see white text appear on the screen.
To exit single-user mode type reboot then press Return. Verbose mode exits automatically when the computer's startup process progresses sufficiently and the blue screen appears.
If the computer does not progress beyond verbose mode, and does not show progression messages, press the power button until the computer shuts down.

  • G570 USB mouse cursor freezing constantly

The problem will be explained lower but let me tell you how this was.
So I've had this problem like 1,5 years ago, after I bought the laptop. So I bought a cheap mouse for it back then, and I noticed that the laptop had problems with the USB mouse, fine, I thought it was the poor mouse, so I bought another cheap one, and it worked fine. Then I bought a gamepad, and again, this problem.
Today I bought a gaming mouse, and the problem re-appeared. I've been searching through the internet all day long.
Basically, the mouse cursor freezes constantly, also with that "plugged-unplugged" sound, but the touchpad works.
I've been looking all around, tried the mouse on another laptop and it works fine.
    I've tried:
    - Starting the laptop in safe mode.
    - Uninstalling/reinstalling the realtek USB reader or w/e its name is.
    - The device manager trick (I think you know what I'm talking about)
    - Been changing the OS many times after I bought the laptop, that problem persisted with the gamepad.
    - Tried different ports around the laptop.
None of them helped. BUT, I saw that actually it hangs when the CPU is throttling. I've changed my power plan to energy saver and the problem went away. I've changed the maximum/minimum CPU power, the problem went away.
But the frequency sets constantly at 800 MHz. What can I do to keep it at 2200 MHz (i3-2330M clock speed) and also keep the mouse working well?

    Hey Barrett_killz,
      Welcome to the forums
I would suggest you trying out a different USB mouse and see if that helps
Cant suggest anything else as you have already uninstalled and installed the Drivers

  • Qosmio X500 - enternal monitor does not get a signal

    Hi
its come a time when I need a external monitor to extend my desktop. I plugged in one of my monitors to the laptop. Qosmio sees it but the monitor does not get a signal. Tried a 2nd monitor and it does the same thing says cable not connected on 1 and power save on other.
I tested the monitors and cables on another laptop in the house and they work fine so its down to the laptop. Ive tried hdmi on a tv and that works fine, so seems to be just the vga as the laptop sees the monitor when connected does that mean the vga port is ok?
And could be something else? Any advice is welcome cheers.
    John

Your posting is a bit confusing for me and I don't see clear structure there. What have you tested and the result is not clearly described.
    >Ive tried hdmi on a tv and that works fine
How have you tested it? With your Qosmio or what?
Anyway, it is not easy to say what is wrong there. Try to test it with TV again. Connect your Qosmio to the TV using HDMI cable, switch to HDMI port on TV and use FN+F5 key combination to switch between LCD and TV.
    Does it work?
    >so seems to be just the vga as the laptop sees the monitor when connected does that mean the vga port is ok?
How to understand this? Is desktop shown on the screen when you use VGA port?

  • Mouse Pointer freezing all the time

    Mouse pointer freezing constantly
    Hi!
My mouse pointer is regularly freezing after about 20 seconds or so. It is released by clicking. I have installed Parallels, and the Windows window says (on the lower left frame) "Click inside OS Window to capture mouse". This has not earlier been necessary even for the Windows window, but has now spread to the Mac side.
I find this utterly annoying and potentially harmful. If I have left the pointer in any place I am not aware of and want to retrieve it, I normally move it to find it. Now I have to click before I can move it, meaning I have to click the mouse in a position I do not know. I can see myself making purchases which ruin me, and the like...
I have recently installed Norton Antivirus on the Mac side and Norman Antivirus on the Windows side. Could that have anything to do with it?
Thank you for any information that can lead to capturing the culprit, dead or alive!
    Hening.

    Hi BDAqua
thank you for your fast reply. I followed yor advice, then booted from my backup disk, repaired the primary disk (no repairs needed) and repaired permissions again, and turned off Norton Auto-protection - altogether to no avail.
    Disk Space on primary drive:
    Capacity of drive 74.53 GB
Mac partition: Capacity: 59.97 GB; Available: 15.68 GB
Windows Partition (Bootcamp, accessed via Parallels):
Capacity: 14.24 GB, Available: 6.84 GB
This seems to mean that I have only 1.44 GB free space on my Mac volume.
Could this be the reason? Tomorrow, I'll move some large files to a backup medium.
    Any more ideas?
    Kind regards - Hening.

  • Imac usb keyboard/mouse freezes - please help!

    i have a 700 mhz g4 flat-panel, 768 RAM, 40 GB disk, running OS 10.4.5.
the keyboard and mouse keep freezing up. sometimes one, sometimes the other. if i unplug the offending one and plug it back it, it works fine. i've tried using different USB ports, and re-setting the PRAM, but after a few minutes of use, the problem comes back.
    please help!

Thanks. I was just going to post that I had more information. Luckily, it seems to jive with what you suspect.
This crash was different. Instead of a "freeze" it panicked. In the USB driver, naturally.
It was throwing these log entries beforehand:

So I was going to swap out the mouse, anyway. If that doesn't stop it, I'll change USB ports.
Thanks so much for the response.

  • Connect to Dual-Link DVI-D port on monitor using DVI-D to VGA adapter -- getting no signal

I have a T400.  I am trying to connect to a dual-link DVI-D port on my LG monitor via the VGA port on my T400 laptop. I bought a DVI-D to VGA adapter, but I am getting no signal.
Do I need some other method or adapter or cable?  Monitor works fine for VGA to VGA connection.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I happened onto this thread while searching for a way to connect my T400 to my wife's 27" iMac. What I learned thus far is that Atlona makes a device (AT-DP400) that will convert dual link DVI to Mini DisplayPort. But Atlona says that one's graphic card must support 2560x1440. The T400 doesn't have a DVI out (nor does my current docking station), but it sounds like one can get a docking station that does. But that won't help if my card won't support 2560x1440. So are you saying that there is no way I will be able to use the 27" iMac as a monitor for the T400?

Could be a bad cable or bad Thunderbolt port.
You have 90 days of free telephone support on a new device. You can call them at 1-800-MY-APPLE. Have your Mini's serial number handy

    Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.

  • Struggling to get a signal from my Midi Keyboard

I have Logic Pro X and a couple of weeks ago managed to successfully connect up by Korg Workstation to act as a Midi Keyboard so that I could access the library and play the sounds in real time  through the keyboard. I have just moved my studio to a new room and tried reconnecting and I am just not getting things to work at all now.
My method has been go into my Midi set up for my Mac and connect by Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface . I have tested the connections and the Korg is speaking just fine to the interface. I saw a video on Youtube where in Logic X it is possible now to access the external instrument via  a Software Instrument Track instead of an External Midi track + Audio ( as it used to be) . When I do that and replace the default electric piano  with an External Instrument it finds the Korg just fine. I have collaged the various windows below. This is what I did last time and it was successful.
I have the record button primed but am getting no signal - not a flicker of life on the  I am no doubt doing something really basic but I cant figure out what to do and its very frustrating that I have had this working just a week or so ago. Help!

The problem is most likely with your router.  Follow the instructions in the router's manual to reset it.  Also what security are you using?  If it's WEP upgrade to WPA.  The iPod sometimes has trouble with WEP "protected" routers.  I put "protected" in quotation marks because WEP security is essentially useless.  It can be hacked in less that 30 seconds.

  • Keyboard, mouse, usb, bluetooth stop working, computer freezes

I have a 2009 MacBook Air.  Over the weekend, out of nowhere, the computer froze up where the keyboard and mouse would not work.  Plugging in a USB device and/or trying to use a previously paird BT device also failed.
I was, however, able to remotely access the computer since I had previously set it up with LogMeIn.  By doing this, the computer had full functionality but external peripherals were not recognized.
Using the remote session, I was able to fire off a backup and send it to a network drive (which was an overnight task, but at least I still have the latest data).
I took it to the apple store and, upon starting it up, all worked fine! We restarted it at the genius bar and the problem occurred again.  When the logon screen appeared, the mouse and keyboard were unrespnosive.  Restarting holding down any optoin+Key combos did nothing because they keyboard was not being recognized.
Then we restarted again and it worked.
So, basically, the problem is interemittent.  They offered the repair depot flat fee cost of $280 that would fix the unit no matter what part(s) had to replaced.  It's looking more and more like a logic board issue, but it doesn't make sense that it's only some of the time and others it works fine.  So I took it home to try a few more things.
I was able to get it started up using command R and did a full disk erase, followed by a Mountain Lion re-install.  I also did a NVRAM reset.  That seemed to work for a few minutes, but then it froze up again, although Mountain Lion kept running the install.  Once the install finished, I force shut down the unit and started it up again and the keyboard/mouse were working again.
I plugged in an external USB drive, configured bluetooth and started restoring files.  It worked for a full day and then the next morning, it happened again.  At this point, the keyboard/mouse froze, the bluetooth devices became disconnected and the USB drive dropped - all at the same time.
So, a full reinstall of the OS didn't work (I was somehow hoping this was software related).
Any other thoughts? Should I bite the bullet and just do the flat fee repair?

    HI,
Try resetting the SMC, instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
Try resetting the PRAM/NVRAM, instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Try deleting this file. com.apple.bluetooth.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
    Hopefully something will help.

    Hello chf,
When you boot up your computer a message on the monitor displays that it can't get a signal. The issue could be a few things so we need to start ruling things out
    1. Try another monitor on your computer
    2. Try another cable
    3. Try a different type of cable if your computer has multiple connections
Are you using integrated graphics or is it a discrete graphic card, if discrete which one?
Did it used to work and just stop one day or has it never worked?

  • Why does the external monitor on my MBPR constantly lose its signal?

I have a Macbook Pro Retina, manufactured in August of 2012 (mid 2012). The laptop seems to be incapable of continuously driving an external display. On some monitors it will lose the signal once or twice a day; on my home monitor it will lose the signal many times an hour, sometimes taking minutes to "settle down". The effect is as if I had un-plugged and re-plugged in the HDMI cable. However I see this happen on three different monitors, two of which come in through HDMI and one through Thunderbolt. I even bought an apple monitor for $1000 that I returned, because on that one every now and then the MBPR just wouldn't detect it at all (and I would still see it quickly drop and re-establish the signal a few times an hour).
Here is a video of what that looks like, as it flashes to blue repeatedly: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19671563/IMG_1363.MOV
I tried gfxCardStatus and using Discreet Only, no luck.
The apple store guys were no help. They claim they have never heard of this issue even though I repro it *daily*. When I check the Console, this is the first message I always see during an incident (for the worst-performing monitor, at least):
8/24/13 4:30:01.312 PM WindowServer[82]: Received display connect changed for display 0x3f003d
I have tried every conceivable Display setting (Best for Retina display, Best for External display), and I am mirroring. I never had even a single problem on my older Macbook Pro; I have had problems since day 1 on my MBPR and they are getting worse (i.e., the external monitor is losing its signal more frequently every day).
Can anyone recommend a solution or suggest a cause?
    Thanks,
    -Eric
