Keyboard / Mouse not working correctly all of a sudden

I spilt a little of my drink on my keyboard, but I dried it up with a towel immediately and it seemed fine. I probably was pressing multiple buttons while I was drying it off though. After I got done, the keyboard and mouse are not working right. I can only type my password into the OSX logon screen, then I can't type anything anywhere. When I left click with my mouse, it opens a dialog box instead of clicking (unless I'm clicking on a menu).
What should I do to get it working right again?
Thanks

Also, when I open Word and could type in it one time, it just showed boxes even though I was using times new roman.

Symptom : Wireless Keyboard Mouse not working.
    Caused by : VMkbd.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
Issue : VMware player or VMware Workstation installed on Windows 8.1 causes compatibility issue leading to system freeze
Soultion : Please follow steps below
    Step 1: Start > run > regedit
    Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.
Step 4: Edit the UpperFilters, The value current would be kdbclass vmkbd. Remove the vmkbd. So only value left would be kbdclass.
Step 5: Restart your system and connect your USB wireless reciever. If all is well it will not freeze your windows now.
This worked for me. Hope this works for you. Enjoy..!!

    Hello Nurswanab,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I'm not sure if your onscreen keyboard is not working in all apps, or in a specific app, but to start troubleshooting please restart, and then reset your iPhone.  If this does not resolve the issue, please let me know, and provide more information about the issue.

  • Magic Mouse not working correctly??

I just installed the new Mountain Lion OS and now my Magic Mouse does not work correctly. First after I log in, I have to turn the mouse off and on then then it will move. When I goto the options menu for the mouse none of the addtional features are there for the mouse including the scrolling. Any suggestions?

Hi Hunters Dad.  I also had this problem and it turned out to be the bluetooth connection.  After I upgraded, the bluetooth connection dropped off system preferences.
To locate your bluetooth connections click on the Apple logo in top left hand corner of screen, select System Preferences and look under Internet & Wireless.  You should see Bluetooth there.  If you don't, then power cycle your computer  (see below).  Afterwards go back to the System Preferences and Bluetooth should be there.
To Power Cycle my computer Apple support had me  shut down my computer, take out the power cable and all other connections for one minute then plug back in and restart as follows:
press your computer ON button and then hold down the   p r command option  keys  at the same time until the 2nd chime.  I also have been having long boot ups since upgrading and the chimes didn't come on.  Applecare instructed me to stop holding the keys and the computer eventually booted up.  Lo and behold the bluetooth connections were visible and my magic mouse and trackpad now work fine.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Keyboard mouse not working after Windows update

Question was asked and supposedly answered b4, but didn't tell how to work around no keyboard or mouse. Ie: how do u get to device manager without keyboard/manager? I unplug to reboot and up down keys work in startup. However, when I open in safe mode, keyboard and mouse still don't work.

  • Satellite A300D-126 the keyboard is not working at all

I reinstalled the driver but it's still not working. What could the problem be? Help plz. Thanks

    Hi
    Whats wrong exactly?
    You have reinstalled the drivers???
    What drivers do you mean?
The keyboard driver is a part of the Windows OS and it cannot be reinstalled separately.
If your keyboard doesnt work properly then either the software doesnt run as it should or the hardware (keyboard) is faulty.
You could try to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba HDD recovery to check if the issue is related to the software.
If the keyboard will not work after this procedure, then an hardware issue could be possible.

  • Keyboard and mouse not working correctly after installing Windows 8.1

I was forced to upgrade my computer to Windows 8.1. My keyboard worked fine until the sytem did a reboot. Numbers on keypad stopped typing and letters were being capitalized when the caps lock was off and the numbers across the top will only type the symbol above the numbers.
I looked up this problem and it seems I need to enter UEFI settings and disable Intel XHCI mode. When I get into the UEFI settings I cannot make any selection from the startup menu. Both my keyboard and mouse stop working.
    Any suggestions?

  • Windows via Bootcamp keyboard/mouse not working???

I have a 15" Macbook Pro and have installed Windows 7 Ultimate via bootcamp with all the correct apple support drivers but suddenly my keyboard/mouse will not work at the sign in screen for Windows at all. Up untill this point I could restart my mac and resign in through the windows partition and easily play my favorite games. Recently I tried signing into windows but at the sign in screen I cannot use my mouse nor my keyboard. Please do not tell me to reinstall windows unless that is the only solution because of data not backed up. Is it a driver issue, how can that be because it worked fine for weeks? Please get back to me as soon as possible!!
    Specs:
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB (Raam) 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeGorce GT 650M 1024MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

If the mouse and keyboard are working under OSX then it can't be a hardware issue.
    You could try:
starting Windows in safe mode to see if the mouse and keyboard work. (Press F8 repeatedly just before Windows starts to boot to bring up the Windows boot menu.)  Safe mode loads a set of basic drivers to just get Windows running and no more.
Another thing you can try is unplug the mouse and re-plug it in after a few seconds while at the login window.  The USB ports may re-detect the mouse.
Try booting from a Windows PE CD or USB stick if you have one.  If the keyboard and mouse work under Windows PE then it's probably a driver issue under your Windows install.
Did you install anything under Windows before this happened?

  • Keyboard & Mouse Not Working on Resume From Sleep

About 1/10 of the time when I resume from sleep my keyboard and mouse do not work. They wake the computer (a 27" iMac) but do not work any longer past that, requiring me to hard reboot my computer (holding the power button to turn off then rebooting).
I have no issues using my keyboard and mouse, both bluetooth, at all. When this happens, even hooking up an external keyboard does me no good as it also does not work. Sleeping and reawakening does no good either.
Anyone have any ideas? So far nothing seems amiss when it comes to my configuration or hardware. Thanks in advance!

I have experienced the same problem which affects a 3rd party USB mouse and my wireless trackpad. Both may be unresponsive when the computer (late 2009 21.5" iMac) wakes. When it happens both devices are affected, never just one of them.
I don't need to reboot to fix the problem.  The mouse responds by disconecting and re-connecting. The trackpad reconnects by holding its power button for a few seconds.
The problem does not affect my wireless keyboard.
No clues on the Console. Sorry I can't be more help.

  • Apple aluminum (USB) keyboard is not working at all in Vista

I just brought a apple aluminum (USB) keyboard. it works fine under Leopard. But when I plug it into Vista. Vista tells me keyboard driver install correctly, and device is working, but none of the keys on the USB keyboard is working. I mean not even "abc".

As I installed Windows on my Mac, I was unable to use my wireless keyboard and mouse (which are the standards from Apple) when i was operating on the Windows partition. I had to call my buddy and use his keyboard and mouse, which were not wireless, and it worked fine. While in Windows, i did download Mac OS X, to make the two OS compatible, but the wireless still did not work on Windows. Is there something additional i need to do to allow my wireless keyboard and mouse to work on the Windows side of things. Please let me know if you have the answer

  • Keyboard/Mouse not working

    Hi,
So I installed Bootcamp and Win XP on my iMac i5 quad core and during the driver install process (after putting in the Snow Leopard DVD) a few windows popped up asking for the location of drivers for new hardware. The DVD didn't seem to know where they were, and I couldn't tell the install to search the internet as the wireless drivers had yet to be installed. And when it was done neither the keyboard or mouse will work.
I thought to try re-installing the drivers but with no mouse control I can't activate the install procedure.
    Please advise.

Yeah... I've fixed it! Well so far so good.
Unfortunately I had to re-install the dirty windows product again! Basically as you described how 'The DVD didn't seem to know where they were' and you selected cancel. This seemed to be the problem. I'm guessing by selecting cancel, the install hasn't finished properly and therefore left the usb ports disabled. The second time I followed the 'found new hardware' windows. It seemed to struggle to find the cirrus audio driver (part of the ATI card). But after searching the dvd a few times it found it.
After reading the apple boot camp install guide it does say 'important: Do not click the cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.'on p10. But it could be made bolder with large red type, since this causes a show stopper.
By the way to do the re-install I had to get the windows xp disc back in the drive which involved getting back into SL. Once you've got the windows xp disc back in the drive, you get the 'select any key to boot cd...' Reinstall on the same partition (bootcamp) as before and reformat the drive.
    Hope this helps

  • Keyboard backlight not working correctly after leopard update

My mbp originally came with Tiger (10.4), when Leopard (10.5) was released I updated. The backlight for the keyboard works normally until I installed the 10.5.1 update. After 10.5.1 and all other updates the keyboard backlight no longer worked correctly. In low light conditions or while working in the dark I have to manually turn it on instead of it doing it automatically. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix it?

Yes, I have to cover the sensors with my hands in order for them to turn off when light is back on, otherwise they just stay on.
