Keyboard - my return key is behaving weird, it's become a '0' key. Any ideas out there to get it back to normal?

Everytime I hit return, my MBP is adding a 0. If I use shift, it adds a bracket ). No idea why this has happened, but it's **** annoying. Any ideas for a fix?

This article will help (about 1/2 way down).

I am very disappointed (yet I somewhat understand) Apple and how they completely have no interest in helping return lost items.  I don't believe the person who traded me this was from around here so I don't even know where to begin.  I seen on ebay you can sell them for parts but I don't really believe in doing that and would like to at least try my best to get it back to whom it belongs to.  I will be contacting my local police department regarding this but I don't think they will be able to do much if it was stolen from somewhere else.  However if nobody claims it in 90 days and I have a letter from my local police station saying I am the new owner, will that be enough for apple to unhold their policy of proving the item belongs to you?

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem.
Try a restart or reset to see if that helps. If not, contact Apple Support.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

My iPad keyboard (spontaneously?) divided in half with one side on the left side of the tablet, the other on the right side and an equal blank space separating them.  The entire keyboard also became smaller.  How can I get it back to normal?

You can also turn OFF Split Keyboard

Where in the world are you?  Name a large city near you and we might know a recycling company that saves older equipment for resale.  Seattle, WA - Go Seahawks - has a great electronic recycling location.  We have dozens of older keyboards.  User groups will know who held on to spare parts.
Then there is the usual retail outlets.  Ebay has several listed.  Having a rough idea of where you are and what your price range is will help narrow down your choices.

  • HT4061 I am unable to load Adobe Flash player on my Apple Ipad are there any clues out there how to by pass this,I can not get certain programs without it ,so I am returning my IPAD,any other programs I can load to get my programs

I am unable to load Adobe Flash player on my Apple Ipad are there any clues out there how to by pass this,I can not get certain programs without it ,so I am returning my IPAD,any other programs I can load to get my programs

Apple's iOS platform (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) has never, and will never support flash.
First on this; Thoughts on Flash. This is from Steve Jobs regarding Apple's views on Flash (2010)
Second; Adobe stops making Flash for mobile devices. This is from Adobe themselves last year stating that they would stop making Flash for mobile devices.
If you can find the App equivalent of the programs you are looking for, then congratulations, however, if you require specific 'programs' requiring flash, then the iPad is certainly not for you, and returning it would be the best choice (granted you are still within the return period).
The lesson in this; Research what a device can and cannot do prior to purchase

  • SET_CONFIG keys is behaving weird

    Hi,
I have two configuration keys in a search view each holding different set of fields. This search component is embedd in some other search component and these two configuration keys will get called individually on F4 help of two different fields in the calling search component. When the f4 help is triggered for both of these fields/configuration keys one after the other, the fields in the configuration key 1 gets appended to configuration 2. Clearing the parsed data is giving some weird result.
Based on the field chosen in the calling search component, i have set the configuration keys accordingly using SET_CONFIG_KEY method in DO_CONFIG_DETERMINATION method.
Please let me know if there is any way to resolve this issue.
    Regards
    SD

    Hello,
    Could you add more details?
Nevertheless you can refer standard implementations like CL_BP_HEAD__SEARCHHELP_IMPL=>DO_CONFIG_DETERMINATION and verify how  set_config_keys is called.

  • General Weirdness going on in 10.4.7 - Any ideas?

I've got all sorts of weird little problems going on right now.
Basically it all adds up to me having to log out of my machine or shutdown every few days.
I have no idea what's going on.
Here's an excerpt from my console log...
    2006-09-08 12:46:16.289 System Preferences[5672] hardwareCheckThread got an exception name:NSInternalInconsistencyException reason:couldn't fork

When I started up Disk Utility - no window came up...
Backup fails too - and then is fixed by a logout/restart - Here's it's logs...

When I try to empty my trash I get an error dialog satting "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
Again - once I log off or restart the problem goes away - and returns after a few days.
If I'm not running Activity Monitor already and I try to start it up I get an error box saying that there are too many processes or it just bombs out completely...like it did just now... Here's what the console log says...

The biggest commonality I see in all this is the error 'couldn't fork'. All of this has been going on for about a couple of months now and continued doing so even after I did a system wipe a restore.
All I use this laptop for is WoW, e-mail, writing papers, web browsing and iTunes. Other than WoW (for which I admitedly need to buy more RAM) there's nothing super taxing going on with the system.

Never got an answer on this - problem just went away and didn't re-occur

  • I lost the key that has the bookmarks, tools, options, history tabs and don't know how to get it back

I don't know how to get the toolbar that went across the top of the page that gave me the options of tools, options, history, etc.

    * In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

    Welcome to Apple Discussions..
My first suggestion is to Repair Disk. Here's how:
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
Please post back and let me know how that goes.

  • My cat sat on my keyboard and now my desktop display looks like it is in night vision with color. How do I get it back to it's original display?

My cat sat on my keyboard and changed the display. Now the coloration and brightness looks like it is in night vision with a bit of color. It is similar to one of the photo booth effect options. How do I get it back to normal?

    Hi JoeBeth,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your colors have become inverted on your display. This is a feature of Universal Access. Please refer to the attached article for information on this feature with instructions to toggle it on and off.
Mac OS X displays inverted image colors (white on black, reverse type)

  • My iPad has a split typing keyboard near the top third of the screen.  How do I get it back at the bottom and full?

My iPad's keyboard has jumped up to the top this of the screen and is split.  How do I get it back to it's normal position at the bottom and one full keyboard?

Just to clarify this a little bit....
Pull the two ends of the keyboard together - into the middle of the screen. You can also tap and hold down on the little keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard and select - Dock and Merge.
If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, but not split, and you want to move it back to the bottom - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
If you don't want this feature - You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.
