Keyboard-only navigation drives to random slides - Help!

Hi all,
This was an issue I experienced in previous Mac versions that I was able to mitigate by recreating the project in the PC version. I've since abandoned the Mac version. However, we recently upgraded to Captivate 8 and it now looks like the issue migrated to the PC version.
The projects I create must be Section 508 compliant. The issues I'm experiencing have to do with using the keyboard to navigate through the course. The course only has 6 slides. The slides are identical and have 6 buttons used to navigate to a specific slide. The programming works fine. I can use the mouse and everything works as intended. However, when I use tab to select the button and press enter, it drives me to completely random slides. You don't get consistent results either.
Suppose I use tab to navigate to button 3 (which sends you to slide 3) and press enter. One time it might send me to slide 5 - the next time it might send me to slide 1 - there's no consistency to the error. Again - I can use the mouse and everything works perfectly as intended, but when I start using tab/enter the whole thing goes haywire.
So, has anyone else experienced issues like this? I created everything from scratch within Captivate 8, so I can eliminate the variable of old templates/projects designed in a previous version.

I'll attempt to rephrase:
I built a project in Captivate 8. There are multiple buttons on the right which take the user to a new page where they see a video. When you click each of the buttons with the mouse they work as intended; however, when you use tab/enter to navigate it drives you to completely random pages with no consistency.

Keyboard-only navigation no longer working in Mail.app

In previous builds of Leopard, I was really liking the ability to navigate my mailboxes using keyboard only...e.g. left arrow key to get out of messages and into mailboxes, then up/down or start typing name to select mailbox, right arrow key to get into messages for currently-selected mailbox, etc.
Release version seems to have killed this...is there a way to get that behavior back?

Yes, you're right. It is the Seagate Momentus XT and it does not spin. That was just a layman's term for computer illiterate like myself. After hours of inspection & a prayer, I discovered by pulling the 4 GB memory chips out I put in, replacing the 1.5 GB back in for the memory which I upgraded 3 years ago. Chime! It works! So it is the 4 GB memory causing the problem. But why? Does that mean my Macbook Pro does not support with more memory? The fan noise is now gone which I suspect it was caused the other overheating Seagate hard drive & eventually causing the crash. However, the top bar temp indicator shows 174˙F @ 000rpm. Does that also mean the fan on the left is not working? (the right fan on the board works). Do they work simutaneously? Or left fan is just a back up?

Help creating keyboard-only interface

hello, I am new to director and creating an interactive
presentation using only a set of buttons as a user interface. I
have set up the keypad to register button presses as keyboard
strokes (the arrows). users would navigate the presentation by
using the arrow keys to select the destination, then the space to
'go'. (go to frame X)
this navigation system seems simple enough.
But compared to a mouse-based navigation system, it seems
like director is leaving me in the dark. I could have written this
navigation system in JAVA and still have about the same amount of
code.
Am I missing something? is there a simple way to make
keyboard-based navigation system in director?

I'm not sure what you want by "simple". Note that there are
only a few user
inputs available from a mouse. How many inputs are possible
from the keyboard
- including holding down modifier keys, multiple keys, etc.?
I don't get the
reference to Java, though. I suspect the code would be
similar in all
languages.

post it here,
describe how it's implemented (behavior, parent, movie
script, how it's
called, etc.) and one of us may be able to streamline it
some.

How to reinstall OSX with keyboard only or get mouse to work

I am incredibly frustrated....
I provide support for about 15 Macs and I have never experienced this. I turned on an Intel iMac and could not get the mouse clicks to register. The right click would work, but not the left. This was the case for 5 different mice including the apple corded one.
I tried resetting the PRAM NV, etc....nothing
When booting and holding option, my choices come up and I am able to left click to choose the drive and arrow button. This is the ONLY time my LEFT mouse clicks work. Not in disk utility either.
Needing to format the drive and reinstall anyway, I went ahead the long way with the keyboard and erased the drive in order to make a fresh install, hoping that would solve my issue somehow. Well this would be great and all, but Apple decided to make this an absolute pain.
I can work my way through the reinstall screen using tab, spacebar and the arrows. However when I get to the drive options to install on, I can get the drive to have the selected outline but can never get it to highlight the "Install" button. At this screen, only the arrow keys seem to do anything.
I have searched for a couple hours now and am about to go crazy. Can anyone help with either the left mouse click issue, or how to choose the install drive with a keyboard only?

Well, guess it was that dumb. Yesterday, that was the very first thing I checked. All trackpads, bluetooth mice were pulled out and batteries removed.
Did another dig into a large box and found a "Magic Mouse" that had batteries from YEARS ago (of course in an upstairs closet). This mouse has never been used on this or any computer that I can think of.
Thanks for the nonsensical piece of hardware that no real computer user would subject themselves to. THEN, to have it connect randomly to other computers and highjack their mouse function? How about SOME type of indication that your little mouse has taken over? Too hard to foresee this? Solid programming and hardware development.......Apple, I hope you pick up my sarcasm on your imbolent product. I think my anger is about to let out on that little useless pos. How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?

In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server, it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.

Could you specify the model of MacBook and the OS X it's running, please? Some of the advice or references vary along with the system, so this could be helpful to formulate a reply. I've never used a Guest User selection, but do have more than one User.
If the computer does not have an optical drive, you may be able to boot it into a recovery disk mode or something; in an attempt to see what is wrong and maybe fix it.

I've been searching for weeks for a solution to my problem. Here's the story I've come across since I installed Leopard on Oct. 26, 2007.
I first installed Leopard on my Early 2006 MacBook and set up Time Machine with a 200GB external FireWire drive. Since then, things have been fine, until Time Machine started deleting the oldest backups. I'm a pack-rat and hated this feeling of losing data. So, I now have a few months worth of backups on my 200GB FireWire drive.
The Time Capsule is released, I finally talk myself into getting one and transferring my old data from the 200GB drive to my 1TB TC.
I did some researching through forums about how to move data from one Time Machine drive to another, so I took the concept and wanted to apply it to my Time Capsule. I made a DMG image of my 200GB drive, in order to move the data. I figured if I can make an image, copy it, and open it on the Time Capsule - all will go smoothly - just as some had mentioned they've done with external drives.
Now, I have a 164GB DMG image of my Time Machine, with no hope in sight of gaining it back. I've tried taking the image, using Disk Utility, and restoring my original 200GB external with the imaged Time Machine data, but whenever I do, I come across error messages.
In Disk Utility, I've done the following steps:
* Disk Image is found on Time Capsule
* I select the 200GB drive and select 'Restore'
* I drag and drop the Disk Image to the 'Image' field
* I drag and drop the 200GB drive into the the 'Restore' field
* Select 'Erase Destination'
* Select 'Restore'
* I get the warning message that I'll erase the drive - I proceed
* I enter my password
Error message pops up:
"Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned/scanned for restore."
I select the image in Disk Utility, then proceed with the following steps:
* Click on "Image" then down to "Scan Image for Restore"
* I enter my password
After hours of waiting, I get another error message:
"Unable to scan. (Broken pipe)."
I'm going to see, after transferring the DMG to the Time Capsule, if I can drag-and-drop the files from the Time Capsule drive onto the 200GB hard drive.
IF anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know!

32 updates on this Mac since December 2007 - Hardware, software, OS...
They keep coming at about 6 or 7 a month. Some of them I don't care about, but several are essential. 10.5.3 has been seeded to the testers a couple of times and will probably show up in the next few weeks. Jaguar wasn't worth a d*mn until 10.2.6, Panther about 10.3.4, Tiger about 10.4.4 - I'd say we are ahead or on schedule Too bad I can't get Apple to fix Spaces. I wish they'd focus on what I want but I guess some take more time than others.

Hi Steve,
You can be right that DISM don’t support the scenario that User profile and System are in the separated volumes.
As a workaround, we should use the defaults to put the profile on C: during capture image, and then set the profile path to be on the D: drive after the image deploying.
Please refer to below KB for how to using Sysprep to redirect profiles’ locations.

Navigation issues with question slides in Captivate 6

In earlier versions of Captivate (5.5) we have always been able to insert question slides into our projects as checkpoints and allow the user to freely navigate through the project and answer the checkpoint questions as often as they like. We have also been able to provide success and failure feedback popups for those question.
In Captivate 6 we are seeing that question slides can apparently only be answered once and do not reset to be answered again the next time the user navigations to those slides. We want to allow the user to answer checkpoint questions as often as they like and we need to be able to provide success and failure feedback popups. We have tried every imaginable combination of setting with no success. Has anyone else been experiencing this or have a solution to this problem?

When I run the same projects with the exact same settings side by side in Captivate 5 and Captivate 6, in the Cap 5 project I can navigate the project freely and answer the checkpoint questions repeatedly as often as I like. As I navigate the questions are reset and can be answered again every time I enter the question slides.
In Cap 6 the questions are locked after the first answer and cannot be answered a second time. Even stranger is the fact that when tested using only a subset of the slides adjacent to the question slide (next 3) it works and does appear to reset the question allowing repeated answers, but it fails when the entire project is run.
I have asked our other developers to test this and they are experiencing the same problem with their projects.
The only difference I can see between the two projects is that the Quiz results slide in Cap 6 cannot be deleted whereas it does not exist in the Cap 5 project ???

Any option to invoke OCR tool from a keyboard only without mouse

As surprising as it may sound, I could not find any option to run from keyboard a command to start OCR (Optical character recognition) operation for the current document.
Many (actually the most) in operations commands Adobe Acrobat Professional XI can be run with a keyboard hotkey (shortcut) and/or via main menu accelerator keys, say, as a command "Create PDF from file" with a hotkey Ctrl+N or keyboard accelerators Alt+F -> R -> F.
So if you your mouse fails to work or you can not use a mouse due to some accessibility issues, you can however run the most commands using the keyboard only.
But I could not find any way to start OCR recogniizing operation using keyboard only, neverthless how long serie of key pressing you are ready to fulfill. Well, you can use accelerators Alt+V(iew) -> T(ools) -> T(ext Recognition) in order to open Tools sidebar at the left edge of the window - and than?.. Seems, that there is no option to get a focus to this vertical toolbar without mouse.
As I can not use my mouse just now, it is a real headache for me Is there any solution?

I'm afraid, that you have missed the most important part of my clarification. Your advice will not help, if somebody (not necessarily you, but rather the previous owner of the document) has already recognized it - but only in some part. Say, the command/hotkey Ctrl+A will not help, if the document has only 1 recognized page from 100 pages, what is a quite probable situation.
Ctrl+A will not help too, if the document is already recognized, but with wrong charset and/or output style and/or resolution - and you need to re-OCR it with correct settings.
I do not see, how your additional explanations of which OCR settings are correct, could help in such situation.
So Ctrl+A (Select all) command is a workaround for some very restricted situations.
To have a consistent OCR workflow simply set the PDF Output Style to Searchable Image (Exact).
Usually I prefer the option [Searchable Image]. Do you think, that [Exact] is generally better?
There is no user configuration/choice of 'charset' consequently this is not a viable concern.
Hm... Have you ever put attention to the dialog Recognize Text, including the very 1st line in the [Settings] field, that is [Primary OCR Language]. And the the button [Edit...] with the proper language settings as well (please look at my screenshot here: http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9172/k56.gif
As one can suggest, when you select the primary OCR language, it also involves the charset too, because, say, English, French and China languages charsets are quite different.

Keyboard tab navigation highlight disappeared

Hello everyone,
This is my first post in the community.
I've been using the Keyboard Total Navigation, i.e. using the tab to navigate throw apps controls, to manage the popups with the keyboard.
Today, I installed Yosemite but I noticed that for the popup windows, the highlighted option to be selected doesn't work. So, I can navigate throw the options but I'm not able to know in advance which one will be selected when I press the space key.
I'd appreciate it any kind of help or if I missed to do something.
