Keyboard removal to install memory

I have a Satellite M105-S3021, to which I want to add RAM. I purchases two 2GB modules and would like to install them myself.  I've searched the web site, trying to find instructions on how to reach the other memory slot (which I believe is under the keyboard).  Can anyone provide  link to the service manual for this model?  All I can find is the user's manual.  Otherwise, I would appreciate any help you can offer.  I don't want to just start removing screws without knowing what I'm doing!
Thanks, Judy

For whatever reason, Toshiba doesn't make any manuals available, except for the user guide.
So, you'll need to go the unofficial route:
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M105/take-apart-notebook-2.htm
Note that the instructions are for complete teardown.  You just need to remove the keyboard, so start on page 2 with the bezel removal.

My iBook currently runs with 256MB RAM which has become significantly slower since an upgrade to Tiger!
I have purchased an extra 512MB which I was hoping to install to increase the memory to 768MB. Will I have to remove the existing memory or can I just add the extra?
Following the Apple pdf manual it needs to be removed first?!

The 256 MB of ram that your mac alreadyhad is built into the mainboard/motherboard. So you can't remove it even if you wanted to. So all you have to do is remove the keyboard, airport, heat shield and pop in the new memory. it is super easy.

  • How do I install memory into the Pavilion 17z-F2 series laptops?

How do I install memory into the Pavilion 17z-F (17z-F200, product L2H13AV) series laptops?
HP appears to have no maintenance guide available for this model series. What's up with that?
Please, do not offer the generic (and out-of-date) Pavilion 17 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. It does not appear to apply to the 17z-F series. This guide instructs to remove the bottom service panel which I could have figured that out on my own. However, the 17z-F series does not appear to have any removable panels at all. I took an up-close look at the Pavilion 17z-F100. And, it does not have any removable panels on the underside, except for the battery. So, I presume the 17z-F200 to be the same.
I am a computer technician. And, this is the first laptop I have seen without any service panels. I am probably going to have to disassemble the entire outer-shell to install memory (or to replace the hard disk drive once the time comes). But, every laptop I have worked on in the past had its own special array of hidden screws or special tricks for disassembly. So, having a maintenance guide is a necessity to avoid damaging plastic mounts, clips, guides, etc.

    How about this one:
    Pavilion 17z Manual
Don't get me started on this. It's one of my pet peeves, too. HP is not the only one doing this. Acer and Toshiba, etc. also are selling "closed" systems now. I hate it. I will absolutely never knowingly buy one but I am spending a lot of time here answering questions just like this. Good luck and let us know how you do. Sounds like you will be fine.

I took a look at the Pavilion 17z-F100 (sent by mistake). It does not have any removable panels on the underside. And, the User Guide for the 17z-F200 indicates that it will be the same (assuming it ever arrives).

  • HP 2000 - 2c12NR: Removed Win8, Installed Win7 64-bit; Touchpad Problems

    Greetings HP forums!
My name is Bob and I am having an issue with an HP 2000 laptop.  A friend requested I remove Windows 8 from a laptop, and install Windows 7 since he was much more familiar with the old GUI.
I installed Win7 64-bit and am having issues with the touchpad consistently working correctly.  I have let Windows use its generic drivers, and have installed the Win8 Synaptics touch pad driver/utility.  Both drivers produce the same problematic results.  The strange issues I am having are as follows:
    - Touchpad works fine for 5-30 minutes
    - Touchpad becomes inoperable for varying amounts of time; 1-5 minutes
    - Touchpad starts working again, but requires higher than normal pressure to work OR only works on the RIGHT side of the touchpad
    - Touchpad stops working again, and then after swirling/twirling my finger around the touchpad it will start moving itself without any further input to the Touchpad at all.  Everytime it starts moving on its own, it exhibits the same behavior.  It moves only vertically, in  a perfectly straight line, roughly 2/3 the heighth of the screen, and is very choppy skipping up and down; This lasts for 10-30 seconds.
    - After it's done 'ghosting' the cursor up and down, the Touchpad is usable again, but is very finnicky.  It requires excessive pressure or response is very laggy/inaccurate to the touch you are inputting.
    - Typically after a reboot it works perfectly fine for a short amount of time, and then starts acting as I have described above.
I have tried altering any and all of the settings in the Synaptics driver utility to no avail.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled, enabled/disabled the hardware/drivers numerous times.  Each time either drivers are removed and installed it will work fine for a short amount of time and then go back to acting crazy.
I thought the ribbon cable may have been loose, so I opened the laptop up far enough to check the ribbon cable for the Touchpad.  All was well, everything was snug.
At this point I am thinking there is an issue with the Touchpad itself.  While I am waiting for a reply I am going to try reinstalling Win7 since I have exhausted all other ideas I have.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Bob Melchert

    *EDIT*
I just started the process to re-install Windows.  Once files were finished loading and the initial install screen had loaded, (where you select Language, Time/Currency Format, and Keyboard input method) the Touchpad immediately started moving vertically on itss own.  Once it stopped moving on its own, I am only able to move the cursor vertically in the spot where it was moving itself; Any input to the Touchpad only allows vertical movement.  This is the first time I have encountered this issue.  Since this is happening with Windows loaded into RAM, I am becoming more certain this is a hardware issue.

    Hello disgrntld,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand there is no audio coming from the computer. Before anything else, I would suggest a manual uninstall and reinstall of the sound driver:
    1. Go into Device Manager, then "Sound, video and game controllers".
    2. Look for the Audio driver. Right-click on it and select "Uninstall". Do not restart the computer.
    3. Restart the computer. It will force the computer to detect the hardware and install an appropriate driver.
Please let me know your results. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with that. According to the spec, you should have 1 GB of memory.

  • Keyboard issues while installing Windows XP with Bootcamp

    Hi there,
I am running bootcamp and when I am starting to install Windows XP I can't actually move into the setup because the keyboard won't work. Is there anyone who found a solution?
    Thanks.

Same problem..........went back to the old keyboard and everything installed and worked fine in OS X and win-XP. swapping in the new alum keyboard the option key doesn't work during the boot select. once the machine boots to the default OS either mac or windows everything works in that OS.
Something I noticed: during the boot select.... the old keyboard gets power immediately, mouse lights up - keyboard cap-lock light is on. with the new alum keyboard the mouse and cap-lock light do not light until the default OS starts to boot with no boot select in between.
Looks like a boot camp setup doesn't know about the new keyboard even though it is recoginized by drivers in the two OS's. anyone know who to call for help at Apple?

what are the steps in deleting in add remove to install a clean version of itunes/quicktime?
What has to go, in order, like itunes-quicktime-mobile me, or?

There are two part when installing WebEnt.. The first one is the web server part where it installs the fortecgi.exe or other web server components. This should be installed where the web server is going to be running. This is usually not you development server. The second part is the http library and web designer part. This should be installed on the development server. The http library need to go through a install of its own to make it part of the central environment. After that all the developers will have access to the http library and all they will need to do is install the Web desinger part.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1702 How we can remove/un-install an app from iPad?

Can someone tell that how to remove the installed app from iPad?

Press and hold any of the apps on your homescreen and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

That is precisely the WRONG thing to do. You should never delete, but uninstall.
Now you need to look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner tool.

  • Keyboard problems after installing Leopard

    Hi,
I have the new iMac 20'' obviously with the latest keyboard, after having installed Leopard, without upgrading, but installing the new OS deleting all old files, buttons from F1 to F19 are not the same as berfore.
Fiirst of all I can't control the volume any more, nor the iTunes "pause" "forward exc", nor brightness, nor dashboard...
Also F8 is used for Spaces, but F8 is for pause/play in iTunes.
Can anyone help me? It's so annoying!
    Ciao

Hmmm. You might want to check your Keyboard settings in System Preferences. Go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse and then check under the "Keyboard" tab. Under the "Keyboard" tab, check to see if the checkbox labeled "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is checked. If it is, you have to hit the fn key and the appropriate F key to get the brightness, volume, etc. functions to work. Just uncheck the box if you don't want to hit the fn key in order to do these things.
    Hope this helps.

  • IS-U Demand KW reads for remove and install are being totalled

    Hello,
On the first periodic bill of a demand meter with a resetting register where the demand meter was removed and a new demand meter installed, the KW reads are being totalled during billing.  We want billing to take the higher of the two KW reads, not a total of the two.
Our initial research shows that a replacement uses only the installed read, thereby ignoring the removed read (potential for lost revenue).  A full remove/full install combination totals the reads (potential for over billing).
Has anyone encountered this scenario before?  If so, what was your solution?
    Thanks!
