Keyboard replacment part

I recently purchased a replacement keyboard for my HP DV Series DV6t-3100 laptop... Going through the instructions on the site seemed to replace the keyboard seemed simple enough. But when it came time to sliding the key board ribbon into the slot some how the little black latch broke... It actually seems like there two separate parts (upper and lower) These are just the most fragile of parts but they hold the ribbon in place... Where can I get replacements for something like this? I mean I don't even think they have a part number?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Welcome to the HP Community. I took a look at the Maintenance and Service guide for your product and it there is no mention of a part number for that piece. You could take it to a local tech and they might have a suggestion for you.

Got a used s9 4067 off ebay. 2 keys missing. I just decided to replaced the keyboard. Hopefully I'll win the bid on ebay.

Congratulations on that S9 purchase of yours. The nearest service manual we have available for that model would be for the S9e. To remove the keyboard you will have to remove the battery pack, hard disk drive, and the palm rest assembly. Details of the parts removal can be seen on the download link below. Please exercise caution when replacing parts and be sure to follow the guidelines listed under Before Servicing Ideapad S9e, S10e, and S10 under page 55 of the service manual.

T30 - Where to buy parts? Original replacement parts?

Hello. I have a T30 that I want to bring back to life. I get "fan error" and used to get some hard drive error. Oh and I also need a keyboard...
I want to buy the highest quality replacement parts. Many parts I see seem to be aftermarket production. Is it even possible to buy original equipment parts? In other words where's the "best" place to get the "best" parts?

Welcome to the forum!
Keyboard can be located on eBay, all T30 keyboards were made for IBM and there's no "aftermarket" offerings in this area.
As for the hard drives, any PATA/IDE 9.5mm laptop hard disk drive will work just fine in a T30.
Fan error can be related to the fan itself (might need cleaning or replacement) or a motherboafrd issue, but for advising on proper fan you'd need to post the 7-character model number of your T30, should be something like 236?-???

Re: Tecra A7 - keyboard replacement issue

Hi,
A friend asked me to fix her keyboard so we bought a new one from eBay and swapped it over. The new one is US-type and doesn't have the cursor-nub/trackpoint (whatever you'd call it) in the middle, and so only 1 ribbon connector on the back. I'm 100% sure I've connected it properly, I've checked and double-checked.
Mostly it works fine, but then some keys have stopped working like backspace and enter, which is big deal.
I've tried uninstalling the drivers and rebooting. I've tried changing the keyboard type in the language settings in control panel.
No matter what we try, we can't get this keyboard with all keys functioning!
Is there some setting I have overlooked that need changing?
Any help at all would be very appreciated, thanks!

There are a couple of reasons it's not exactly the same - firstly the trackball used to get in the way of typing and it's nice that it's no longer there, and secondly there are a lot of rip-offs on eBay from USA, they are thinking that people are desperate enough to pay any high price for replacement parts.
This was advertised as being US layout and compatible with Tecra A7 which is what we have here.
Mostly it works fine, but just a few keys are not working... I'm convinced it's a software setting somewhere, drivers or something in Control Panel...

T430 replacement parts

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a T430 and I want to replace my US Keyboard with a French backlit Keyboard. I looked up the different replacement parts for the T430 and I found two occurences of what I think are French backlit Keyboards. I have two questions:
- What is the difference between these two parts

- the difference in the two parts is basically just the supplier/manufacturer that Lenovo used.
- visit: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-50278 and towards the bottom, you'll see a section marked Order service part FRUs. as your system is under warranty, it looks like you should call and speak with Service about ordering/obtaining a keyboard.

G50-45 Keyboard replacement with back-lit keyboard???

Hello,
I have a wonderfull G50-45 laptop with very good LCD display (worst decision I have ever made as from another discussion I relaised its the **bleep**test possible display due to make more profit by Leovo). I found some keyboards around in different sites, I need one as mine is german by default. Can I replace the existing keyboard with backlit one. Does this laptop motherboard support backlit feature?

For a backlit keyboard to work, the following must be met:
1. A compatible backlit-type keyboard (must be listed in the maintenance manual).
2. The motherboard must have a keyboard power connector (to enable the backlight).

Looking at the keyboard spare parts for the G50-45 (see page 84-85 of the HMM), this unit uses a non-backlit type keyboard (it also doesn't have any spare parts for backlit keyboards).
In addition, there's also no keyboard power connector on the motherboard to power up a backlit keyboard so this means the unit isn't capable of using a backlit keyboard.

IBook G4 Keyboard Replacement

Does anyone know how much a replacement keyboard will cost for an iBook G4 (14 in)? Also, if someone knows of a site that sells them can I have the link?

Welcome to community.
As your concern some keys of keyboard are not working. In order to recover this issue, please perform the following steps and check.
- My Computer-> Right click-> Manage-> Device Manager.
- Click on the device manager
- Double click on the keyboard
- Right click on the standard 101/102-key
- Click un-install.
- Reboot the system keyboard driver will install automatically.
If the issue still persists then it needs a personal assistance and it can replaced from the service centre.
Regarding to upgrade the RAM, the maximum RAM supported upto 8GB with 1600Mhz DDR3.

CR 640 replacement parts

I have an MSI CR640 and am looking at trying to find some replacement parts. Namely, a replacement keyboard and a replacement battery. I was wondering if there was somewhere I could order these and if possible whether anyone new of pricing of these parts.

T400 case number and replacement part?

I have a clients T400 that has come out of warranty. His 160GB HD died. I called Lenovo first to make sure the machine was out of warranty, the tech advise me that is way and gave me the HD FRU number and the phone number to call to get a replacement.
My colleague called IBM and gave them the part number, they said the FRU doesn't exsist and got us the correct part number but said unless we had a case number from Lenovo the drive would be sold AS-IS. So if we bought it and for someone reason it didn't work they would not warranty or exchange the drive.
So my colleague called Lenovo back who said "We don't give case numbers out for machines out of warranty". It seems that IBM thinks differently. Lenovo also said there some way of creating a case on their website which will send me an email with the correct replacement part number...do you think I could find what they are talking about??? NO!
Has anyone had to deal this mayhem? It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing....Plus it makes not sense to not properly help people who have OOW machines that are still fairly new.
I have thought of maybe getting the one of the big bosses at IBM on the phone to fight it out with the boss at Lenovo!

HP pavilion Dv6 Fan Problem - Want to know replacement part number

I purchased HP Pavilion dv6t QE in Dec 2011. Just after the warranty expired in Dec 2012 its fan stopped working. Whenever I am starting laptop I am getting error that laptop fan is not working correctly. I am ready to get the fan/heat sink changed but I am not able to find the replacement part on HP website. The available fan/heatsink combos with HP part numbers can be found in chapter 3, on page 27.
In order to get the right one you need to know what hardware is installed in your PC.
Since it is a CTO (configured to order), there are no product specs available.
So it is incumbent upon you to know for example if your notebook has an Intel processor and a graphics
subsystem with 2048-MB discrete memory.
Once you determine the right part number you need, you can order it online at the link below.
