Keyboard settings, MAJOR HELP NEEDED QUICK!!!

Ok all my keyboard settings are messed up, I can't use my volume control and I can't changes the brightness, etc. (Basically all the command functions!?!?!) (new to macs) anyways F12 which is volume up control now opens my dashboard and so forth, ok now for the seriously messed up part the default settings button doesn't work everything just stays the same...
Can someone post all the default max osx settings or rather help me please?!?!

Open System Preferences, go to keyboard and mouse, choose the keyboard tab, and make sure the box beside "use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is UNchecked.

Loops messed up. Help needed quickly

Hi there,
I'm in the middle of kind of an important project that has to be finished by next week and of course those are the times when software seems to fail So I need help quickly.
Situation: the location of my apple loops seems to be messed up. I placed the "Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro" on an external disk (since it is the largest folder) and kept the rest on my internal drive. Now, when I search my loop browser, results seem to be incomplete. I know I had a lot more drum loops before I reorganized my loops than I have now.
So I became suspicious and as some kind of test I looked in the Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra folder, searched for a particular loop name (in this case "Adversary Strings"), typed it in the search menu of the loop browser in Logic and couldn't find it.
So I took al my loop folders in the "Apple Loops" map and dragged them back into Logic. It showed "Adding Loops" and after 10 seconds (which seemed rather short to me) this was done. I searched again "Adversary Strings" in the loop browers, still couldn't find it. So I dragged ONLY the "Adversary Strings" loop in the Logic Pro loop browser and then Logic gave me a message: "Logic already has this loop, do you want to replace it?"
But Logic doesn't have that loop! I can't find it, there's no filter on in my loop browser (I search "all loops") and I don't find some loops (it's not only the case with the "Adversary Strings") and when I want to add them I get the message that they're already in Logic...
So I deleted all my loop indexes, re-added the loops and still no results.
Any ideas out there to re-index these things correctly???

thanks for the help, but as I said in my topic, I already followed the steps suggested in "Rebuilding the Loop index" (deleting my index and dragging the apple loops folder back in the browser) and of course I already searched the forum. My question was a little more specific, so I thought it deserved a new thread.
Eventually I solved it in a very strange manner, just by trial and error actually. When I added the whole loop folder, Logic couldn't find the loops (despite deleting the index and hoping for Logic to re-index the loops). But when I selected one loop out of a particular folder (for instance Jam Pack1) and added it, Logic added the loop, but this seemed to take a while. After that one loop was loaded, suddenly all the others that were in the same folder (Jam Pack1) were also visible again.
I did this for every different loop folder (5 jam packs, garage band, soundtrack pro and I life) and so got back all my loops...
Weird, but it worked

RH9 Crashing When Generating WebHelp - MAJOR Help Needed

Hello,
Our software release date is next Thursday, August 18th, so I'm a bit panicky. What's happening has never happened before. Every time I try to generate WebHelp, RH9 crashes while "Updating Files". There are two of us working on the project...maybe something has gotten messed up? Can anyone tell me what I should check, or what I should do? Below is a screenshot of the error, as well as the error report itself.
In the above screenshot, you can see the Output View at the bottom of the window, and the crash happens during "Updating files..." Does anyone know what this means? I REALLY need help. If I can't get this figured out, we're in major trouble - possibly no Help released for our product. A trillion thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Can we start with some questions to see what is going on here.
Has this project ever compiled correctly, either in RH9 or another version?
Is this a new installation of RH9?
Can you generate any RH project. Try generating one of the supplied dummy projects (e.g. SalesBuilder)?
Can you generate any other output formats from this project (e.g. CHM)?
Have you tried creating a new WebHelp SSL?
If none of this works, perhaps you can post some more details of what exactly has changed since the last successful generation.

WRT350N..Major Help Needed

Ok...I've just about had it with calling Linksys and not getting any help at all. I am trying to connect an external hard drive into the USB port and access it wirelessly. I can not get it to work. When I go to Networks on my computer (I have Vista) I see 2 Linksys WRT350n listed. When I click on one, it asks me for my password. I type it in and it goes to the Linksys set-up page. When I click on the other one, it also asks me for my password...yet it doesn't work. It always changes my username to Fitzgerald-PC/admin and NOTHING is working. A technition with Linksys had the nerve to say that they don't make a router that has a USB capability! UGH! If anyone can help me...I would really appreciate it. hmmm... they did? I wonder what they call a WRT350N router then... anyway, can't really help much... i only know basic routers and devices which are what I have... hehe..

Problem installing Creative Suite CS4, major help needed

Basically I need help asap because I uninstalled my previous versions of PS etc to install this and work has to be done.
I installed the "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection" yesterday without problems, but then something happened to my machine last night which forced me to do a system restore.
I restored and the suite was no longer installed, since then I have had many problems trying to install it again.
It keeps getting up to about 5/8 of the progress bar then it freezes on "Currently installing Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin". I did have trouble trying to install "Adobe Flash Player 10" before and finally managed to do it, but it's still freezing when installing the suite.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

OK now it's installed, all of the programs work fine except for photoshop.
I did have photoshop cs2 and cs3 previously installed.
I load up "Adobe Photoshop CS4" and it starts loading, it says "initialising" etc and then when it gets to "Building TWAIN menu items" it pops up with the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message window asking me to "Send Error Report".
Any ideas please?

Using eMac keyboard with iMac help needed.

I have an iMac from around 2009, at the weekend the keyboard stopped working and until I can afford a replacement a friend has given me an old eMac keyboard he had spare to use in the meantime (which could be a while).
Just this morning I've realised that it doesn't have some of the function keys that the iMac keyboard has. The one I'm missing the most is the F3 key that shows me all the windows I have open at once. Something I find invaluable as I use my mac for music production and helps sort through and find all the plugins I have open.
Is there a way to achieve what the iMac F3 does with a combination of keys on the eMac keyboard?

With older Mac keyboards, try using the Command key with the F keys to see which F keys do what function.

HELP, need quick script fix

Hi,
Our InDesign is acting up here. We are designing massive amounts of tables for various annual reports. After the design for print is done, these tables need exporting to xHTML.
We have tested this extensively, and written complicated CSS files and many cell-styles to make it work.
The thing is, that now when the final test-export needs to be done. InDesign suddenly returns a Stack Overrun error message when exporting. The only thing that seems to happen is that we cut out each page, paste it into a new document, save, and then do the xHTML export. But we are talking hundreds of pages here.
My Apple script is not too good, but I am sure this can be done by a simple script. And I am quite sure it has been done before.
Can anyone here please point me in the correct direction.
PS. A bug report has been made to Adobe about this issue

Thank you for the quick reply. Smart ports look very cool. I like the idea and may find this useful for other purposes but if I am reading this right, it won't work for what I need. It looks like he would need to log into the switch to apply the macro. He is a phone guy and does not want to actually touch the switch. So I was looking for like a perl script of something that I could configure with my TACACS credentials. Also I won't know what port he needs reconfigured until he needs it, so I need him to be able to add the port number as a variable without him actually having to do any programming. he would be will to run it as part of a command (i.e run command.exe 10.10.10.22 g1/0/22 222, where 10.10.10.22 is switch IP, g1/0/22 is port, and 222 is the new vlan) or if I can do somekind of prompt that would be great!

Major help needed with replacing xskey

here's the pickle...
i lost my logic pro 7 xskey while traveling.
i can't install/update studio without it, nor run pro 7.
i am currently in a country that doesn't have apple support phone lines.
i can't contact any other apple support phone lines from where i currently am.
I NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION ONLINE, FAST !!!

You didn't say why you are installing. If you've already installed the upgrade on your machine, you won't need the key.
If you are reinstalling, you shouldn't need to key (because your machine is already authorised).
If you are trying to install your copy of LS on a different machine entirely, then that's different. If you are re-installing on your main machine because you had to reformat, if you'd save your authorisation file you may not have needed to reauthorise again.
What I'm saying is, if you gave some specifics of what and why you are doing this, then I might have been able to help you without having to bother Apple.
But if you are trying to install on a different machine and don't have your dongle, the only people who can legally help you is Apple. Can you phone a friend in the respective country and get them to phone Apple on your behalf?

I know you can download a balanced scorecard so I hope this is possible.

Ralph,
You cannot download the CPM MC app as a offline application.The Balance scorecard can be downloaded into an offline application. The only thing thats possible is to use the print functionality of CPM MC.You can use this with the flag measure defination switched on and also set all the required exception settings(red,green,yellow..) and download all the walls,views and frames into a spool file.

MAJOR HELP NEEDED (Expert needed)

This first started when my ipod had a folder with a exclamation point, so I restored it, when i did this, there was a photo of the power usb being plugged in wall. I asked arround and everyone told me that I needed too buy that adaptor to finish the restore, so i went to the store and bought the one from apple and plugged it in and nothing happend...
Is there anything else I can do??? Everytime I turn it on theres that picture and then it shuts down right away!!! please help!

Are you selecting *Save As...* and then running itunessetup.exe or are you running the installer from the download screen?

Major help needed with date problem

hi everyone, I have been working on this problem for so long, my brain is completely fried, really. the part of the project I have listed is just one of larger program that I have all figured out; this is the last part and I am just struggling to come up with a start. I think i need to use a for loop, but not quite sure.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM:

this without regard to Java?If I understand correctly, you need to find out what percentage of their policy they want to use (the refund they want back tells you what percentage of the premium they want back, so the rest is what they want to use). Then use that percentage to calculate the number of days they would have to use the policy to get that refund (you already know the total days, so total days * percentage = days until refund). Then you just need to find out what day is that many days after the start day. that would be when they would cancel. Hopefully that makes sense. I am still trying to have it make sense for me. I can't figure out how to code this.

Ive been importing xml but my graphics had altered and ive
realised my file publish settings were set on Flash 6.0! when i
change the setting to flash 8.0 or 9.0 the xml file doesnt load
anymore... i get the error message below in the output box

Any idea whats happening... am i able to change to flash 8.0
or 9.0 or do i have to leave it on 6.0?

you can change but you need to find the sloppy coding. you
have, at least, one variable that uses two (or more)
representations.
something like:
myURL = "myxml.xml";
and
XML.load(myUrl);

Printing help needed quickly

I am trying to print out football tickets I purchased thru stubhub. In my e-mail I recieved a link to download the tickets. I can see the page needed to print showing my ticket.When I hit the print icon a box opens and says This document could not be printed.I hit ok. Then a second box opens and says There were no pages selected to print. I went back to try again and after hitting the printer icon I see under pages 1 was selected but I was unable to access it or change it. I need to download these tickets soon...Thank you for help resolving this issue...

What printer? What driver? What OS and Reader version?
Can you try to print as image?
The option is present under Advanced options in the print dialog.
Sometimes if you remove the printer driver and re-install it, you can
then print the pdf.

MAJOR HELP NEEDED PLEEEEASE

My Aperture updated yesterday to 3.1, after aperture restarted all my images from february onwards are missing!!! I am at a complete loss. I have tried re-building the database and no joy, I have time Machine and have restored the database from before the upgrade but the same thing has happened, I am really panicking as did a shoot yesterday and now its gone!!!
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and in novice terms please.

I think you need to at least read a page in the manual, to work out if your images are Managed or Referenced. It's crucially important. Page 119 in the manual should help.
If you restored the Aperture library from before the upgrade, it will simply be re-upgraded when you open it again. You no longer have a version of Aperture prior to 3.1 and so it has to be upgraded.
What about the physical size of the Aperture library from before and after the upgrade? When in Time Machine it shows you the size of the file you want to restore. How does it compare to your current file? How far back have you gone in Time Machine?
Do you have a Vault backup (I guess not)? Going forward, you may want to look more closely at a proper backup strategy. (Most people get bitten before they start to bother about it).
