Keyboard Shortcut for moving audio

Is there a keyboard shortcut to move an audio track the smallest increment?  I am trying to sync audio with video and when I use the mouse to drag the audio left of right along the timeline, it jumps more than the minimum allowable increment.
Thanks for your help!

Neale has given you the "trick," that you need. Just do not forget to hit the S key again, to toggle Snap back on, when you go to do other editing, or things will not work as before.
Good luck,

  • Keyboard Shortcut for moving a clip in timeline to a higher or lower track?

    Hi all,
Sure seems like this should exist but I cannot find it.
I want to be able to select clips in the timeline and click a keyboard shortcut to have the clip jump straight up to the next track above.
Anyone know if this is possible?
I have six hours of edited material and literally thousands of B-camera clips to move.... a keyboard shortcut would really help in this situation.
    Thanks,
    Matt

In the PDF files of the FCP user manual, and in the Quick Reference (Keyboard Shortcuts) menu item from within FCP.
Option-↑ (that's Option & the Up Arrow) This works provided that there are no clips in the track space directly above the clips that you're looking to move. (if there are clips, it will fail; you'd need to select those clips as well for it to work. That or move those clips first.)< </div>
So, we all have to ask, "Why isn't this in the manuals? And, we might as well ask, how many other undocumented features are there in FCP? "

  • Is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut for Add Audio Keyframe?

I would like to assign a keyboard shortcut to be able to create an audio keyframe at the playhead. There doesn't seem to be an option in the Keyboard shortcuts menu.\
This feature allows the editor to keyframe audio and mix without having to use the mouse. Also, this feature was available in FCP 7.

Still dont know how one would set parameters but...
I would suggest a "better" way to set some audio keyframes is to do a live realtime mix from the audio mixer in Write Mode.
Then adjust KFs or overwrite them using mouse or MIxer facilties.
I have never quite understood how one can mix using KFs on a static audio track!
Its an ear/listening thing..IMHO  ( well thats how the pros do it anyway)

  • Keyboard shortcut for moving documents?

    Hi all,
Potentially a long shot, but was wondering if a keyboard shortcut exists to move documents into a folder on my computer?
Files downloaded get save to my Desktop and I sort into folders from there, and was wondering if there was a way to make this process easier - e.g. like sorting emails in an email inbox into a folder.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks much,
    Ryan

  • Keyboard shortcut for Video/Audio track destination?

Is there a keyboard short that will allow me to toggle the Video and audio track when adding clips to the sequence? versus having to mouse click on the icon to "link" or "unlink"?

    System Preferences>Keyboard.
Check F keys on for use in applications.

  • Need keyboard shortcuts for an old Power Macintosh please

    Hi all
I’m try to copy 2 folders from the desktop of an old Apple Power Macintosh to a ZIP drive.
The mouse on the Power Mac doesn't work, so I’ve to use keyboard shortcuts to move the folders.
My problem is that I can’t find the right keyboard map on the web for a computer about 15 years old, and the OSX keyboard shortcuts don’t work on this computer.
As far as I can work out the Power mac is before G3 and is a 6000 to 8000 model. If anyone knows the shortcut to find the exact software version, that will be great.
So could anybody please suggest to me the keyboard shortcuts for the following commands:
    Open ZIP dive folder
    Move back to desktop
    Copy folder on the desktop
    Select ZIP drive folder
Past the folder from desktop to ZIP drive.
I can’t find any info on the web, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Under Mac OS 8 or later, you can select a file or folder in the current window (or on the desktop if no windows are open) by typing the first few letters of its name. You can also use the arrow keys. I don't remember whether these work in System 7.
Apple-O opens a selected file or folder. Apple-W closes the current window.
Apple-C and Apple-V are copy and paste, respectively, but I'm not sure if they'll work for copying files and folders. I'm not sure if there's a keyboard shortcut for moving files and folders.
If you can find "Script Editor" (it might be in a folder named "Applescript"), you could use it to write a script that will move the folders. Follow these instructions:
Find and open Script Editor. Apple-F opens the "Find" window.
In Script Editor, enter the following:
(Instead of XYZ and ABC, enter the names of the folders you want to copy. And instead of MyZIP, enter the name of the Zip disk.)
    tell application "Finder"
duplicate folder "XYZ" of desktop to disk "MyZIP"
duplicate folder "ABC" of desktop to disk "MyZIP"
    end tell
Press Apple-R. That should copy the folders to the Zip disk.

  • Shortcut for moving forward and backward through Time Machine

It seems obvious that there should be keyboard shortcuts for moving backward and forward through time in the Time Machine. Anyone know how?

    V.K. wrote:
it might seem obvious but AFAIK there are no shortcuts for that. use the mouse.
I can't imagine replacing a simple mouse click with something like
    Cmd-Ctl-Shift-Fn12-page up
It's noticeable that the menu disappears when entering TM, meaning that the usual assignments of shortcuts in the KB menu have, at least for the present, unknown values, if any at all.
What kind of shortcut would take me back to December 25, 2007 anyway? The trackpad and trackpad bar work.
It's possible to open TM with a shortcut or script, but from there one is on the dark side.

  • Is there a list of mac keyboard shortcuts for Audition 3.0?

Is there anywhere online where I can find a list of Mac keyboard shortcuts for Audition 3.0?  I would have thought it would be easy to find, but I've searched and haven't seen anything.  In particular, I'm looking for shortcuts to let me vertical zoom and a shortcut that moves the playhead back to the beginning in multitrack view.

With Audition 3.0 for Windows, vertical zoom in edit view can be done by right-click-drag on the vertical exist to select a region.  Incremental vertical zoom can be done by moving the mouse cursor over the vertical access, then using the track wheel to zoom in or out.  In multitrack view, if you use the track wheel in the main window, it widens all the tracks proportionately.
To move to the beginning or end (in both edit and multitrack views), use the Home and End keys.  In edit view, Ctrl-left arrow and Ctrl-right arrow also do this.  In multitrack view, the Ctrl-arrow keys move to the beginning and end of the audio clips, whereas the End key goes to the end of the overall piece (which may include silence after the last clip).
Most keyboard shortcuts can be assigned, cleared, or re-assigned.  In Windows this is done via the Edit menu item (for which the shortcut is Alt-k).

  • Keyboard shortcuts for text selection not working in Flash CC

In the new Code Editor in Flash CC running on Mac OS X, most standard Keyboard Shortcuts for traversing through the text work as expected (as the Operating System works globally) but there is one that doesn't and it's I think the most important one.
Hitting "OPTION + SHIFT + [right or left arrow keys]" to select words doesn't work. Hitting "OPTION + [right or left arrow keys]" works as expected, moving the cursor to the next word or break point, but adding shift doesn't do the selection.
I don't understand why this changed since it's a basic OS global shortcuts, and every other program behaves the way it should. Flash CS6 running on the same system behaves fine, but Flash CC doesn't. If you have ever written code, you know that any second that a programmers hand doesn't have to leave the keyboard to search for the mouse is invaluable, and this has forced me to stop using Flash CC and use Flash CS6 to edit my Action Script classes becuase it's unusable otherwise.
These shortcuts are also not listed in the keyboard shortcuts for the program, so I can't change the default behavior. Does anybody know if there's a way to set it back to the way it was before, or just disable special text shortcuts so that selecting text behaves like any other application in the operating system?
    System Configuration:
    Flash CC
    Mac OSX 10.8.5

Amy~ Yep the lasso tool was what I verified with another user. 'L' seems to be bound indefinitely to loop through different types of lasso tools and it was annoying them because they just wanted L to be the regular freehand lasso. I removed 'L' from being an option on the polygon lasso and even set it explicitly to SHIFT+L as well as set the lasso tool to a completely different keyboard combo. 'L' still cycled through lassos haha. It needs some fixes.
fertolg~ At least you have a workaround for now. I'd go nuts if I couldn't use keyboard text selection writing code, oy! You're welcome and if you're all set please mark correct so we can filter unanswered. Good luck!

  • PPCC 2014.1 keyboard shortcut for source patching or track targeting???

Does anyone know if there's a keyboard shortcut for targeting tracks or else moving the "V1" and "A1" targets up and down the tracks in the timeline with the latest PPCC 2014.1 update???
I believe PPCC refers to it as "source patching". But looking through the vast keyboard shortcut list, I haven't found it.

Here's the shortcuts you want to be looking at... also Marks linked page has useful info on mouse operations.
The source assignment presets could prove useful too (although it would all get much easier if they would implement auto-patch...)

  • Shortcut for moving between Panels on Modal Dialog boxes eg: Cell Options (OS X)

Is there an existing shortcut for moving between the tabs of modal dialog boxes. For example Cmd+Opt+'B' brings up Cell Options dialog but that is actually the shortcut for the "Text" Panel how can I navigate (using keyboard keys) to the other Panels {"Strokes and Fills", "Rows and Columns", "Diagonal Lines"}.
    Note:
I realise I can create shortcuts for the Table…> Cell Options…> Diagonal Lines items but these shortcuts will not work in the context of the Cell Options Modal Dialogue box.

    Hey Thanks.
For those who come looking b/s they had the same question:
As a bonus once one of these key sequences is pressed the tab heading area comes into focus so the arrow keys work for navigating tabs. So even for long list of Paragraph Style tabs which number greater than 10 still easy to navigate to them eleventh to someteenth ones.

  • Change Keyboard Shortcuts for sound volume

I want to change the keyboard shortcut for changing the system sound/audio volume. There isn't an option in the Keyboard Shortcuts system preference pane. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for helping me think through this. My (likely circa 2001) iKey keyboard didn't come with software (at least that I would still use). My initial guess was that I programmed the keys through FastScripts, but quitting that didn't help.
So, I looked back through the archives at MacOSXHints.com and found two options: I hadn't installed KeyRemap4Macbook, but I was still using ControllerMate. I had completely forgotten about that. Thanks for helping jog my memory.

  • Disabling Keyboard Shortcuts for LDAP Accounts -Workgroup Manager...

I work in a school and all our students are on LDAP accounts. Recently some of the kids realized that hitting Ctrl-Opt-CMD-8 inverts the screen display. You wouldn't believe the amount of havoc this has created at school, especially when they do it to a kid’s account that doesn't know how to fix it.
Keyboard and Mouse are NOT one of the items under preferences for either groups or accounts in Workgroup Manager. Does anyone know if there is a way around this, or an alternate way of getting rid of the keyboard shortcuts for Universal Access, for either groups or accounts?
    Thanks
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Within the Workgroup Manager pane for Preferences, there is an option to manage Universal access. Within that section, there is a tab for 'Options'. You will want to change that management to 'Always' and leave the box for 'Allow Universal Access Shortcuts' UNchecked. This will, in effect, disable the usage of the shortcuts for a User or a selected Group account.
    Hope this helps out!!

  • How to change keyboard shortcut for cycle through open tabs in PS and AI CC 2014

I would love to set my own keyboard shortcuts for cycling through open tabs in PS and AI 2014 on OS X. I found out that this can be achieved with ctrl+tab in PS, but I couldn't manage to make any of the suggestions in the forum work for AI. As said, I would like to set a more "standard" shortcut like alt+cmd+arrow-keys for both of the apps. If that shouldn't be possible, does anyone know a shortcut in AI CC 2014?
    Many thanks!
    Amadeus

Thanks! The shortcut can be set like this in AI, although all key combinations I would want to use are not allowed. Too bad. But anyways, thank you very much for the tip!
cmd+~ is not an option for me, I guess, since the swiss/german keyboard layout has no dedicated tilde key.
So, I have a working shortcut in PS (ctrl+tab / of which I still don't know how to change, if possible at all) and thanks to you, I can now set one in AI as well. Unfortunately, I can not set it to be identical as in PS, since the "cmd" key needs to be included in AI's shortcut assignment dialogue, but I guess, this is as good as it gets.

  • How do I setup a keyboard shortcut for an item in the Services menu?

In every Application, under the application menu is a "Services" folder. I would like to be able to setup a keyboard shortcut for one of these services (namely Skype).
I am a heavy user of the "Services > Skype > Call" command and I would love to have a keyboard shortcut for it.
I went to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts, clicked on the plus sign to create a new shortcut (all applications) and entered "Services…Skype…Call" and assigned it to a keyboard command (shift-F1).
It doesn't work. Any clue as to what I am doing wrong?

    Hi
Also - have a look at the reply I gave at the link below (sorry - don't know how to insert proper links here).
May be of interest, maybe not.
    Best,
