Keyboard shortcut not sticking

I'm trying to set a keyboard shortcut for the menu item Object>Graph>Data. The shortcut is cmd opt C. The shortcut works during the current session, but when I restart Illustrator it disappears and reverts back to the previous menu item, Make with Top Object.

I have some keyboard shortcuts I like set in the System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse. Everytime I reboot, I need to open up the system preferences and click on the little check marks so my dock/expose/dashboard shortcuts are activated.
Is this a bug?

IIRC, those are controlled by the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file in your home folder/Library/Preferences/. Move it to the Desktop, log out and back in, and reset them. Restart and see if that fixes things. If so, delete the one you moved to the Desktop. If not, put it back, overwriting the new one, log out and back in, and continue to hunt for the conflicting/corrupted plist. Preferential Treatment can test them for you.

CS2 keyboard shortcuts not "sticking"

I've been trying to make two shortcuts in InDesign CS2, both to run a certain script. I can make them in InDesign in the Default group, and I can shut down InDesign and restart it all I want and the shortcuts stay. However, when I copy the shortcut file over the network to a coworker, the shortcuts I added don't show up in InDesign. When I edit the file in Wordpad, the shortcuts are there, but just not in InDesign. Anyone ever seen this before? I have done this same process before, and everything worked. Am I missing something? Thanks.

In case anyone else runs into this problem, here's how I fixed it. I checked the version number of all the user's InDesign. Most had the latest version, but some didn't. The ones that didn't have the latest version weren't getting the shortcuts to stick. I updated those to the latest version, and all is well.
For reference, the version that didn't work was 4.0.0.421. The versions that did work were 4.0.2.633 and 4.0.5.688. In case you're wondering how to get the longer version number, hold down the Control key while clicking "About InDesign..." under the 'Help' menu.

I had this problem too but using Windows 7. I tried resetting, renaming the shortcuts, swearing loudly, none of it worked. I found out it was a totally unrelated program, Xfinity Protection Suite, that was the culprit. My virus protection program added it as an 'upgrade.' AFter I uninstalled it everything was back to normal. Have you installed anything new onto your computer lately that could be interfering?

Safari keyboard shortcut not working

Safari keyboard shortcut not working right.
I have 6 website in favourite bookmark. When press cmd + 1 should load 1st website in favourite folder. Nothing happen. Same cmd + 2, cmd + 3 etc.
Now cmd + 1 keep add ':)' smiley text emotion instead.
I have reset keyboard shortcut default in System Preference Keyboard but nothing change.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Safari 5.1 customized keyboard shortcut not working

I've just updated safari on snow leopard and my customized keyboard shortcut: go to next/previous panel (ctrl -> and ctrl <-) don't work anymore even if i set them in my system preferences

I'm also experiencing issues with custom keyboard shortcuts not working after the update to Safari 5.1. I had no problems with the previous version of Safari.... I wish I had not updated.

Application Keyboard Shortcuts not working in Text Edit

Under System Preferences (Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Application Keyboard Shortcuts -> All Applications), I changed some basic keyboard shortcuts (Copy, Paste, etc.) to use the ctrl key instead of the command key. These shortcuts seem to work well in the basic applications I use (MS Office, Firefox, etc.)
However, they do not work in TextEdit. I did verify that the Menu name in I entered in System Preferences matches exactly the way it appears in TextEdit.
Anyone else have the same problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it? I would very much like this fixed since my switching between Windows (in Parallels) and Mac OS X is seamless except for the fact that I have to remember different keyboard shortcuts in each OS. Thanks in advance!

Custom Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working In Layer Style / Blending Options Dialogue Box (Mac OS 10.6.8)

In the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, my custom Keyboard Shortcuts to zoom in and out of the image is no longer working. Cmd+opt+shift+1 acts as cmd+1 (jumps to Drop Shadow), and cmd+opt+shift+0 acts as cmd+0 (jumps to Stroke). Outside of this box the commands seem to be working fine.
Example 1: Create a new RGB document, cmd+j the background layer, double-click this layer to open the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, mash Cmd+opt+shift+1.
Result 1: The dialogue box shift focus to the Drop Shadow Options instead of the image zooming in to 100%.
Expected Result 1: The image should zoom to 100%.
Example 2: Create a new RGB document, cmd+j the background layer, double-click this layer to open the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, mash Cmd+opt+shift+0.
Result 2: The dialogue box shift focus to the Stroke Options instead of the image zooming to “Fit on Screen”.
Expected Result 2: The image should zoom to “Fit on Screen”.
This same thing happened in the CS5 Beta, and it was quickly fixed, so I hope this is not a complicated issue.

in Adobe Story Plus my keyboard shortcuts do not work. I'm on a Macbook. I'm really tired of using an outdated Mac and Final Draft AV, but I cannot get this Adobe Story to work at all. I cannot work efficiently if I have to go to a drop down menu every time I need a new element. I need to keystroke the element & type. I'm running the latest OS on my Macbook Pro.
Vartul, thank you for the link , but I didn't make myself clear. I had been to the linked page previously. When I use these keyboard shortcuts on my Macbook they simply do not have the specified outcome. They don't work at all. Is there a setting in preferences that I need to correct? I am generally working with multiple desktops and swipe from one to another using my multitouch trackpad. When I use the specified shortcuts I get bounced out of Adobe Story into another desktop. This leads me to believe there is a Mac Preference that needs to be changed but I haven't figured it out yet. Can you enlighten me as to what the conflict might be?

Sorry for a late reply.
I am guessing that you are using Story through Safari browser. The shortcuts to change element types are in Safari are:
Apply Scene Heading : Control + 1
Apply Action : Control + 2
Apply Character : Control + 3
Apply parenthetical : Control + 4
Apply dialogue : Control + 5
Apply transition : Control + 6
Apply shot : Control + 7
Apply General : Control + 8
There are another set of keyboard shortcuts that affect the behaviour of 'Tab' and 'Enter' keys while you are typing some element.
e.g. when you are typing a 'Scene Heading', pressing 'Enter' will move you to an 'Action' element. Similarly while typing an Action element, pressing 'tab' key will add a new 'Character' element.
You can customize these set of shortcuts from Temple option of Edit Menu.

I have photoshop CC through Creatuve cloud. My keyboard shortcuts stop working, then photoshop really slows down, then crashes. I've been through Adobe support five times now, and it works for about 1/2 hour, then acts up again. Any suggestions/reciommendations? Thanks - Wendy Caro

I am also having this problen since the update to Photoshop CC 14.2. The 14.2.1 update did not fix this and the problem was not there before 14.2.
My problem is when a file is first opened, the key short cuts do not work. You need to physically click on the selection tool before any of the key shortcuts work. After clicking on the sleection tool I can then use all the key shortcuts as normal. This behaviour is repeated every time a new file is opened. Photoshop does not crash.
I am on a Mac, OSX 10.8.5
I am also using a Wacom Intuos 5 with the latest driver 6.3.7-3.
FYI, I have seen significant slow down across the Adobe CC apps since a big Creative Cloud update a few weeks ago that introduced Photoshop CC 14.2 and InDesign 9.2 (which continues to be MUCH slower than CS6).
The problems and slow down are NOT repeated on other identical Macs in our studio that do not have Wacom tablets. I believe the finger can be squarely pointed at the Adobe/Wacom interface and both sides need to take a good look at their inter-workings.

Photoshop CS3 Extended Keyboard Shortcut Not Working

I installed the CS3 Master Collection that included Photoshop CS3 Extended. I've used Photoshop for going on a decade and I find the CTRL+ALT+I keyboard shortcut really handly to pop open the Image Size window.
Now, in this new version (don't after a clean format, reinstall of my XP OS) the shortcut no longer works. I check and it still has CTRL+ALT+I listed next to Image Size in the drop down menu as the proper keys, but it does not work.
Anyone having this issue?

I tried resetting the preferences but to no avail.
I'm avoiding having to do an uninstall/reinstall like the plague so If I can find what's causing it and fix it manually that would be preferred.
I have thought about running the Adobe updater but I'm concerned that it may cause more problems that it would fix (as this has happed to me before with other apps). Everything else works great and this is the only issue I've noticed.
Does anyone know if the update for Photoshop CS3 Extended addressed his issue (or knows of another cause that might be behind it)?

ITunes 10.5 Keyboard Shortcuts Not working

The new iTunes won't let me use my keyboard shortcuts when iTunes is in the background. Previous iTunes allowed this. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Running Windows 7 and iTunes 10.5 x64.

I managed a different FIX. This is just for Microsoft Multimedia keyboard (I have Microsoft 8000)
I uninstalled Microsoft Intellitype 8.1 that I had and then installed the newer 8.2 Version.
Before I did that I Downgraded to Itunes 10.3 64x like someone else said, but it did not help.
If this fix don't work with Itunes 10.5 then Downgrade like I did, It easier..No copying of files needed.
After you uninstall Itunes 10.5 and Install 10.3, it give you an error for your library.
So you press "SHIFT" and then open ITUNES.
then you go to "My Music\iTunes" folder inside your genereal music folder, it should be there. (WIN 7)
then to "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and you should have a backup or and some kind of old "itunes Library folder" files...you choose one of them and Itunes opens fine with all playlist and everything.
Now everything workd find.

I after all this this does not work, might be because I installed Itune 10.3 before the new Intellitype 8.2.
So try Uninstalling Intellitype 8.2 again.
Then reinstall it...maybe it does things when Installing...I don't know.

Fit Frame to Content Bug in InDesign CC? Keyboard shortcut not working

Using InDesign CC 9.1 in Mountain Lion, recently installed and has been working fine except I noticed that the keyboard shortcut for Fit Frame to Content won't work, even though the other frame fitting shortcuts work. I searched this forum and elsewhere to see if there was any reported bug for this but came up with bubkis.
When using the contextual menu option or toolbar button for Fit Frame to Content I don't have any problem. I thought perhaps my own set of shortcuts had overridden this default shortcut somehow so I reverted to the default set without any luck. I quit and re-opened ID with the default shortcut set, no luck either.
In the Keyboard Shortcuts menu options, when I try to assign Opt-Cmd-C it does say it's already assigned to that function. I'm at a loss here to understand why this one particular function isn't working as a shortcut. Any ideas why? What can I do? Thanks.

It's working for me in InDesign CC on the same operating system.
Here's a couple ideas:
Make sure there's not a Mac OS X system shortcut already set to this shortcut. Go to System Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts and check all the tabs for existing system shortcuts (I didn't find any but maybe you had set one). InDesign CC now gives preference to the system.
You could also try restoring your InDesign preferences.

Shift-Tab Keyboard Shortcut not working

For some reason, my Shift-Tab keyboard shortcut is not work in TextEdit, PowerPoint, and NeoOffice. Has anyone else run into this problem?
It's very annoying having to deal with Bulleted lists and setting the proper indentation!
I did a clean install of Leopard as well as updating to the 10.5.1 patch just released.

Well, I found the problem. The new Speech option, "Speak selected text when key is pressed" to the Shift+Tab combo by default. Changing this to something else or disabling it fixes the problem.
