Keyboard shortcut to eject iPod?

I'm trying to figure out if there is (or how to create) a keyboard shortcut to eject my 30GB iPod 5G, either native to OSX Tiger or possibly using the program Quicksilver. Can anyone help me?
In this support document, Apple states that "you can also eject iPod by choosing a menu command in iTunes, or by using a keyboard shortcut," but they don't mention what that shortcut is!
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1853
Thanks!

That is helpful, but not exactly what I was looking for - is there a way to activate this shortcut without making iTunes the active window?
No. A keyboard shortcut is simply a way to access a menu option FROM WITHIN THE APPLICATION without having to access the menu itself. Mac applications menus are contextual in nature. The same keyboard shortcut may have different actions associated with them depending on the application and/or window within the application that is currently active. It is like yelling "Hey, you!" in a room full of people. How is any single person to know to whom you are yelling?

What is the shortcut for eject in apple and pc keyboard?

Easiest way with an Apple is to drag the item to be ejected to the trash, which then turns into the eject symbol.  Some Apple keyboards also have av eject key, the triangle on top of a horizontal bar.  You can also eject a DVD/CD by restarting and holding the mouse in the click position.

  • How to apply different keyboard shortcuts to an actions with the same name but in different menus within one application?

    Hi,
Hopefully someone can help. I have the application "djay" and in two different menus there is the action "Eject". I was wondering if it's possible to apply different keyboard shortcuts to those actions with the same name? I can't see how to do it as it seems you can only write the action but as there are two it doesn't seem to work for me.
    For example:
    djay>Table-1>Eject - ⌘⇧1
    djay>Table-2>Eject - ⌘⇧0
Thanks in advance for any help!!

A NodeList doesn't only contain 1 element. In your example it contains ALL <Data> elements inside the document.
    NodeList nodes = document.getElementsByTagName("Data");
    System.out.println(nodes.getLength() + " \"Data\"-elements found");
    for(int i=0; i<nodes.getLength(); i++) {
       Node node = nodes.item(i);
    }

  • I need help doing a clean install.( keyboard shortcuts?).Macbook will not read any of the disks/ turns off

I installed a new 'used' Logic board, im my macbook 13.3 and it turned right on!..( i was out of warrenty)
Apple logo and spiing wheel, then turns off..
After reading several forums, I went into self mode, did the 2 checks within in and got an error which pointed to the OS software being currupted..
so I have  inserted the Os disk, the disk-repair disk and a disk warrior disk, but none of them are being read. I hear the Macbook starting to read the disk then the disks are ejected and the systen turns off.
Is there a way i can do a clean install on the HD? shortcut keyboard shortcuts?
or force the disks to be read as the first boot device like of that  in a PC's bios settup?
I have no data on the computer that I wish to save btw.. just want a fresh install..
thanks for any help in advance.

Unfortunately the necessary software to reinstall your OS is not located on the hard drive. If your MacBook will not accept the disks you have you are going to need a hardware repair, probably the optical drive.
If you have access to another MacBook you may be able to install the OS on an external hard drive and use that to boot your MacBook. You may then be able to get any data off of your hard drive.
    Best of luck.

  • Customize Keyboard Shortcuts in Photoshop Elements 9?

Hello, where is the customize keyboard shortcuts dialog? I bought an app for my iPod Touch that uses a .kys file to map the commands to the computer, and I could not find a way to change the keyboard shortcuts.

I've never seen the dialog in a shipping version of elements, but here's one way.
    1. Make a copy of the .kys file and then change the name and extension to:
        Keyboard Shortcuts.psp
    2. Copy the renamed file into the pse9 settings folder.
        Example for windows vista:
        C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Editor
        Example for mac:
       Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0 Settings
Copy the renamed file into the editor/settings folder and start or restart pse9.

  • What is the keyboard shortcut to sleep display on the Macbook Air?

On my Macbook Pro it's ctrl-shift-eject. There is no eject button on the Macbook Air so what is it?
Yes I know about Hot Corners. Yes I know you can turn the brightness right down. I want the keyboard shortcut.

Sorry for being a Johnny-Come-Lately to this thread, but I just found it.
I do not like using a Hot Corner (alone) because it is too easy to inadvertently sleep the screen by random movement of the the cursor. However, there is a solution....
You can add a "modifier key" (e.g., the "Command" key) to the hot corner sequence so that moving the cursor to the chosen hot corner does NOT sleep the screen unless you also push and hold the modifier key.
To add a modifier key, open "System Preferences", go to "Desktop & Screen Saver", choose the "Screen Saver" tab, and click on "Hot Corners…". Open the dropdown for the corner you prefer. Before clicking "Put Display to Sleep" hold down the Command key (or another modifier key*)  and then click "Put Display to Sleep".
Voilà! Now the display will sleep only if you hold down the Command key before moving the cursor to the chosen Hot Corner.
*I believe the only modifier keys available for this are Shift, Control, Option and Command -- you can use any one of them or combinations.

  • Sleep keyboard shortcut does not work in 10.4.6

I just updated to 10.4.6 over the weekend. Unfortunately I realised that the sleep functionality seems to be broken. I have setup my machine to not go to sleep at all, but it tends to doze away after a few hours of being alive.
Further, I used to use the keyboard shortcut Option-Command-Eject to put my machine to sleep, but this doesn't seem to work now.
Anybody has any experience with this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Gov

With the above preference enabled :
and e10s turned off keyboard shortcut [ correctly is sent to Gmail
however with e10s turned ON keyboard shortcut [ triggers page search instead of getting sent to Gmail
Workaround - with e10s enabled then disable preference
Search for text when I start typing

  • Keyboard Shortcut not working

I turn on my iBook one day and the Command/Apple + T keyboard shortcut doesn't work. The t button works fine, but in every application, this shortcut is broken. All of the other shortcuts work, but in Photoshop, iMovie, and multiple web browsers, this one deosn't work. What is going on and how do I fix it?

    Hi,
    Comand T in...
iMovie --> Split Clip at Playhead
Adobe --> Free Transform (Command/Ctrl-T) a selection from its center by pressing Option/Alt while dragging a Transform box handle.
I don't know multiple web browsers. You may want to go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts > Restore to Default. See if that helps.

  • Is there WINDOWS KEYBOARD shortcut to restart a mac ???

Using a "WINDOWS KEYBOARD" (no "eject" button), is there a keyboard shortcut that will bring up the shut down/restart menu?  Equivalent to "control+eject" on a mac keyboard?
Reason I ask:  Periodically, my Apple bluetooth devices (keyboard, trackpad and mouse) becomes completely unresponsive while my imac (2011 iMac running Lion 10.7.2) is in sleep mode - pressing a key on the bluetooth keyboard, trackpad or mouse will not wake the iMac up from sleep mode. Pressing the power button will wake the iMac, but I can't type in my unlock password because the keyboard is unresponsive.  When this happens, I plug in my spare "WINDOWS" keyboard via USB, at which time I can use this USB keyboard to wake the iMac and type in my unlock password.  Now I'm "in my computer" and only the "WINDOWS" keyboard is working (bluetooth trackpad and mouse is still unresponsive).  Only thing that will "reset" my bluetooth devices seems to be "restarting" my iMac.
Using this "WINDOWS" keyboard, I'm looking for a way to shutdown/restart my iMac using a keyboard shortcut equivalent or similar to "control+eject" on the apple keyboard - which brings up the shut down/restart dialogue.  The "WINDOWS" keyboard obviously does not have an "eject" button.  I've tried some of the F12, F11 etc keys with no luck . . .
Hope someone has a solution to this.  I'm trying to avoid "hard rebooting" the iMac as a last resort.
    Thanks

By holding ctrl + F12 for a couple of secs will get you the shutdown menu on a Windows keyboard.

  • Delete - Keyboard shortcut

    Hello,
I have an English (Uk) keyboard, I would like to know what the keyboard shortcut is for deleting a version or ablum etc and removing versions from an album, and where this button is located on the keyboard.
When I do it via going to file in the toolbar, the short cut keys stated are the command button and some other logo, which is like an arrow box pointing to the left with an X in it. My delete key has the image on it, but the arrow is pointing to the right. When I try the shortcut command nothing happens. So I have to keep going to file or cntrl clicking. Where can I find the correct key?
imac G5 iSight 20" not intel   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Canon 350D iPod Nano Aperture Final Cut Express HD

The arrow with the X in it is the left delete button. It is located above the \ button and to the right of the = button (at least on US keyboards.) The other button you were pressing is the right delete key, which should be underneath the help button.

  • Keyboard shortcuts failing to work on windows partition

    Hey all,
I have been having this problem for a while and I couldn't find any information on the fix so I turned to these forums for a possible solution (Also hello all). My problem seems like it could be simply fixed by changing some system property but I could find no such info online, but enough with the idle chit chat, let's talk business. My problem is the keyboard shortcuts (such as control option delete and ctrl+click) are simply not working. The control option delete button gets registered as 3 different keys. One keyboard shortcut does work and that is shift f10, but I desire the more precise right clicking method of control click. I am currently using the Macbook version that was first introduced with the intel dual core 2 processor and NVIDIA graphics card (I don't know the actual name of it so maybe some one could tell me?). The windows operating system which I installed with bootcamp is Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise R2 and I don't know if this helps are all but my mac partition runs OS-X Leopard fully updated. If I am being dumb then a couple of buzz words is all I need to get me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Also, the eject button doesn't work for the CD/DVD drive.

  • System Preferences Loosing Keyboard Shortcuts

I have noticed that from time to the keyboard shortcuts I have enabeled(F9-F12 for the Dashboard and Expose) and the mighty mouse buttons set for dashboard and Expose all windows will revert to the defalt settings if unassigned. For the Fkeys this means they do nothing and the mouse reverts back to button 3 and 4. Can someone tell me what causes this, and how I can stop it, because while it dosnt cause me any major problems it is annoying.

I have this same problem. Hopefully someone will help us soon.
I was watching a DVD (MirrorMask) when my computer crashed. The whole top to bottom wipe thing happened and it told me I needed to hold the power button and restart. After restarting, however, I could no longer control the volume or brightness controls on the keyboard, use my eject key, and my apple remote won't work for those things either. I know these keys, as well as the remote, are all getting signals just fine because I can still use them to do various other things like refresh pages in internet explorer or wake the computer from Sleep mode. It's almost as though it doesn't believe it's a newer version mac with those features anymore.
I've tried messing around in the System Preferences as well. Checking the "Use F1 - F12 buttons to control hardware features" box does nothing to help the situation. Holding control, fn, alt, or option keys and pressing any of the keys merits no positive response either.

  • Is there a PC-Style Keyboard Shortcut for Opening the CD ROM Draw?

    Hello
I was trying to use a USB PC-Syle keyboard with my G3 Blue & White, and was wondering if there was a Keyboard Shortcut on the keys to open the CD ROM draw?
It apparently won't open manually .... and of course if it were an Apple Keyboard, then it would naturally have a key for that function.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hi, Mike -
OS 9 does not have such a key, per se (I think F12 works only in OSX). The button on the front of the drive should work whenever the tray is empty; if there is a disk in the drive, either drag the disk to the Trash or select it and use Command-Y (Put Away in the File menu).
You can add a hot-key fairly easily.
    • One way is to locate the Eject Extras folder which may be on the hard drive somewhere; if not, you can download it from here -
    Eject Extras
You can use the Eject applet contained in that folder by assigning it to one of the FKeys via the FKey page inn the Keyboard control panel.
The downside of this is that it will control only the built-in optical drive.
    • You can also use a utility such as EjectDisk, which allows for the setting of individual keyboard key-combos for each removable-media drive.

  • How do i change display sleep keyboard shortcut

I know that to sleep display i can use ctrl-shift-eject
this is fine but i would ideally like to change it to a simple bind. like like cmd-§ or some other two button bind. I've check the keyboard shortcut tab in system preferences and i either can't spot it or its not there. Im assuming its because its a default command. Anyone know if there's a way i can add a bind to sleep all displays or a way to edit this one?
    Thanks in advance
