Keyboard shortcut to "search" box

Exuse me if this has been posted but I cannot find it...
Is there a keyboard shortcut to the CS 4 bridge search box?  or a way to make one?
thanks
tom

Going from 10.5 to 10.6 is not removing functionality, it is adding functionality.
Are you using 10.6.x and can't use that command to get to the search field?
If so, try checking the Keyboard Shortcuts in Keyboard System Prefs and see if you've somehow got cmd+opt-F mapped to something else.

  • Shortcut to Search Box

Is Search Box the proper name for it? The thing to the right of the address bar?
In Firefox, Cmd-K works as a shortcut, but not in Safari.. I've been using Cmd-L then tabbing over. What is the shortcut?
I also have a second question.. my Safari does not autocomplete the password anywhere.. it autocompletes the login name field, but then I have to type in the password.

No probs - just helps to have something to look at on this side of the fence.
Facebook.com should work of course - works fine on Safari 3.0.4 on Tiger.
First things first, is the 'User names and passwords' option checked in the Safari preferences -> AutoFill section?
If it is checked, are there entries for http://www.facebook.com and/or https://www.facebook.com present?
Assuming they are present can you run Keychain Access to double check that there is a www.facebook.com entry for storing the password? While you are there, try running 'Keychain First Aid' via the Keychain Access main menu (or commandoptiona if the 10.5 shortcut is the same as 10.4).
There was also a keychain update for 10.5 released a few weeks ago - do you know if you have run that already?
Edit: This is the [update|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/loginkeychai nupdate10.html] I was referring to above.

  • C keyboard shortcut displays SEARCH instead of COMPOSE

Pressing C while in a message list will display SEARCH,  while pressing S will display SAVED folder.
How can I set C to compose a new message, as it was supposed to be?

    Barry:
Numbers offers similar keypress methods of selecting (Edit for this post: and entering) text.
You'll find them in Chapter 8: Working with Text of the Numbers '09 User Guide, starting at page 159.
I'd strongly recommend to any new or nearly new user of Numbers that (s)he download and take a look at both the Numbers '09 User Guide and the iWork Functions and Formulas User Guide. Both are available through the Help menu. Similar guides for Pages and Keynote can be downloaded using the same instructions.

  • Google Search Keyboard Shortcut Missing in Safari

I've noticed that the keyboard shortcut for "search with Google" keyboard shortcut (command+shift+L) has been replaced by opening the new Reading List drawer.  The shortcut still works in other cocoa apps, but has been superceeded by the new reading list shortcut in Safari (similar to how it's superceeded by flag email in Mail).
Is there anyway to change the shortcut for opening the Reading List drawer so that I can have search with Google back to command+shift+L on Safari.
I've grown quite used to using this shortcut and it's much less enjoable to command+option+f over to the search window and paste in the phrase I want googled, than it was having a single shortcut.
    Thanks to anyone who knows.

Similar problem I've found but fixed. I have a broken arm and it's difficult to hold down cmd and click or do the shortcut (which doesn't work anymore), so I found a workaround based on http://rentzsch.tumblr.com/post/5794765921/search-with-google-using-chrome
It will take less than a minute to implement.
Open Automater -> Choose Service -> Find 'Run Shell Script' action and drag to workflow window -> Choose '/usr/bin/ruby' from Shell drop down menu -> type the following
    require 'cgi'
    `open 'http://www.google.com/search?q=#{CGI.escape(STDIN.read.chomp)}'`
Then save it with a title like "Search With Google (New Window)" and you are done. Then rather than using the shortcut, just right click the highlighted text you want to search and you can use this new service.

  • Search google keyboard shortcut conflicts with pages

The apple system preference, keyboard, indicates that shift-command-L will search google is safari. However, in pages, that command displays layout. Search in google does work using the services menu option in pages.
Is there a way to change or resolve the keyboard shortcut for search google to work?
    thanks

Just realized you can click on the shortcut in system preferences and change the keyboard short cut.

  • How to move keyboard away from app search box?

If I try search for an app on my iPad the keyboard covers the search box so I cannot see what I am typing, how do I fix this?
you can see a screenshot of the problem on Flickr at..

    many thanks!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Keyboard shortcut for mercury transmit?

I have created a very handy keyboard shortcut in Premiere Pro to toggle Mercury Transmit and I would like to so the same in Prelude. But when I open keyboard shortcuts and search for transmit, it is not there. Is it called something else or is this even possible in Prelude?
    Greg

Yep, that's pretty much what I was on about. You can do faux bold and italic in apps. like Word and I seem to remember that Quark used to do it too. But to my way of thinking it's bad Latin to use faux-anything. It's better to use a different font (or even create one) than to try and force a font to do what it wasn´t designed to do. I bear great respect for good type designers and get a bit puritanical when I see good fonts being misused.
Photoshop gives you different kinds of anti-aliasing which can sometimes get you part of the way you want to go.

  • Export Media - Keyboard Shortcut not changable?

Hi. (Premiere Pro 6) I'v successfully changed my keyboard shortcut for Exporting Media from Ctrl+M -to- another shportcut of my choosing on one comuter. Now on my Laptop, when I goto Keyboards shortcuts I search for Export Media, and there is no place that states the Ctrl+M shortcut. How can I change it if it doesn't even show up as a shortcut in the first place? THanks in Advance for any answers.

Type M in the search field.  It'll show up.

  • Cap5 not allowing spacebar as keyboard shortcut

I'm updating a software simulation e-Learning to Captivate 5 (previously it was in Cap3).  In several places, I've used click boxes that respond to the spacebar in order to move to the next slide.  (In the actual software, the spacebar is used to toggle field repsonses from YES to NO).  In Cap3 and Cap4, I was able to select the spacebar as the keyboard shortcut for click boxes and buttons.  Captivate 5 is not allowing me to do this.
    Here's is what I'm doing:
With the click box selected, I'm trying to set the shortcut in the Actions section of the Properties panel.  It will not "record" the spacebar keystroke in the Shortcut field. This doesn't work with a button either.
Anyone else have this issue?  Any suggestions or solutions?

I'm having the exact same problem. I converted a project from CP3 where we successfully used the spacebar as a click box shortcut. Now the spacebar doesn't appear to be an option. Sorry, I haven't found a solution either. I'm planning on reporting it as a bug.

  • Keyboard shortcut to place cursor in Effects and Presets search box?

    Hi!
Is there is a keyboard shortcut that will place the cursor in the search box of the Effects and Presets panel?  Ctrl + 5 activates the panel, but I still need to click to get the cursor into the search box and be able to type my search. I have RSI and am trying to learn to use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible. My system is AE CS6 on Windows. I've searched the help reference on keyboard shortcuts and haven't been able to find anything.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lori

Too funny...I just found my own two-year-old question while Googling to find the solution (again).  Is there a shortcut (or a way to create one) that will let me place the cursor in the search box of the effects and presets panel? I'm now on CC 2014, and still hate having to reach for my mouse every time I use the search. I can't believe I'm the only person who would love this shortcut...

  • Start menu/Search box works one single time after boot and sporadically on seemingly random occasions. Win+D shortcut doesn't work either.

    Hi,
This issue might be similar to what has already been reported but it feels different.
I've attempted all solutions in this previous topic: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7fb011ec-e986-4999-8cbf-21dba894432a/start-menu-button-and-search-not-working-in-windows-10-enterprise-technical-preview?forum=WinPreview2014General With
the exception of rolling back to a previous build (which was working). I'm on 10061.
I did registry editing, creating a new user, the powershell command (stumbled upon this just before finding the above link and it fixed that problem; the start menu/search box/Win+D bug was happening before the Metro Apps crash).
A temporary fix exists which requires me to tskill explorer every time I want to use the start menu, the search box or show my deaktop. Not really practical. That will let me use them for a few times but once I click repeateadly on the search box (it is
really slow), forget it. Not even the "show desktop" rectangle in the bottom right corner works (it doesn't in any other situation except the brief time were the other options are usable.
Every other single Windows Key keyboard shortcut works.
I hope enough information was provided but if anything else is needed, I'll do it.
You know, honestly I wish Microsoft would just either dump the Metro Windows UI or burn the Classic Windows UI because
still keeping the Control Panel divided and with no way interact with the Metro Apps outside of their environment is just stupid (or I'm not seeing the bigger picture).
    Thanks,
    Luiz.

I have similar issues with build 10061, after I used System Restore. See also this topic: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d1295cc3-e7c2-40be-a832-c1c648c669c2/system-restore-and-searchstart-menu?forum=WinPreview2014Feedback.
Things I have tried so far (but did not solve the problem for me):
    - Install Windows Updates (Suggested by Sharath in
    this topic)
    - Powershell scripts (Suggested by Sharath in
    this topic)
    - Disabling NVIDIA graphics in Device Manager
    - Enabling group policy settings
    - Registry fix (http://www.arunze.in/2015/02/fix-windows-10-start-button.html)
    - The windows-feedback:?contextid=158 command gives a 'The app didn't start' error.
    - Start menu and Search still don't work in contrast mode (Shift+Alt+PrScn)
    - Installing nVidia 347.88 drivers.

  • How do I stop Firefox for Android from popping up the on-screen keyboard when loading a page with a search box on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2?

When I go to certain sites on the web which have search boxes, Firefox will pop up the onscreen keyboard as the page load completes, without me doing anything to focus the search box. It's annoying to have to tell the keyboard to go away each time before I can navigate in the page.
I specified the device I am using (Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch) because it uses a nonstandard keyboard applet, called simply the Samsung Keyboard, which could be doing something different than the regular Android one. I don't have the option of switching to the stock Android keyboard.

That won't help iamjayakumars. That pref blocks popup windows on load. The keyboard is not a popup window.
This behavior happens because the website sets focus to a text box on the page. Firefox is following the standard behavior for desktop browsers.

  • Custom Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working In Layer Style / Blending Options Dialogue Box (Mac OS 10.6.8)

In the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, my custom Keyboard Shortcuts to zoom in and out of the image is no longer working. Cmd+opt+shift+1 acts as cmd+1 (jumps to Drop Shadow), and cmd+opt+shift+0 acts as cmd+0 (jumps to Stroke). Outside of this box the commands seem to be working fine.
Example 1: Create a new RGB document, cmd+j the background layer, double-click this layer to open the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, mash Cmd+opt+shift+1.
Result 1: The dialogue box shift focus to the Drop Shadow Options instead of the image zooming in to 100%.
Expected Result 1: The image should zoom to 100%.
Example 2: Create a new RGB document, cmd+j the background layer, double-click this layer to open the Layer Style / Blending Options dialogue box, mash Cmd+opt+shift+0.
Result 2: The dialogue box shift focus to the Stroke Options instead of the image zooming to “Fit on Screen”.
Expected Result 2: The image should zoom to “Fit on Screen”.
This same thing happened in the CS5 Beta, and it was quickly fixed, so I hope this is not a complicated issue.
Thanks, and keep up the wonderful work!

  • What is the keyboard shortcut for the search window?

Is there a keyboard shortcut that takes me directly to the Google search window in the upper right hand corner of the Safari toolbar? I looking for the equivalent of Firefox's Cmd-K shortcut. I've looked at lists of Safari shortcuts online, but I can't find this one.
Note that this is different from Cmd-Shift-L, because I want to begin the search without having something already highlighted.

Yep, I overlooked that one on the shortcuts list. Thanks.
