Keyboard shortcuts in Bridge CS5

Is there any way of modifying the keyboard shortcuts in Bridge or introducing new ones? Control+R opens Camera Raw hosted by Bridge; I would like to change this to open Camera Raw hosted by Photoshop, or make a new short cut to this effect, instead of using the 'Open with' menu item.

There is already a keyboard shortcut for what you want to do.  Control+O opens Camera Raw hosted by Photoshop.

  • Assigning custom keyboard shortcuts in Bridge CS5?

    As stated in the subject line, can this be done for Bridge the way it can in PS?  I'm getting really tired of right-clicking for particular context menu shortcuts and would love to be able to assign a shortcut.
    Thanks!

    I don't think there is an easy way to add keywords in Bridge.  Perhaps with scripts or 3 party software, but beware of conflicts with other programs.

    That sounds like a conflict of some sort with a plugin or other software running on all the computers. Mac or PC? Any non-Adobe plugins, including a font auto-activation plugin from a font manager?

  • Importing / Transferring Keyboard Shortcuts into Photoshop CS5

    Hello, i am testing out Photoshop 5 and it looks good so far, yet some obstacles are left to solve. For example i wonder how to get the keyboard shortcuts from my old Photoshop (the .kys file) into the PS5? There is no import. I would even manually transfer, but opening the file in a texteditor just shows weird stuff (there was a guy who manually transfered his indesign shortcuts in such a way, but since he used a normal text editor i guess these files are of a different structure)
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2881861#2881861
    if anyone knows how to transfer them or has an idea how to manually workaround, i am happy for hints.
    thanks
    Sofian

    It depends on which windows system you have, but for vista and windows 7, probably the best
    place to put the kys file is:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts
    Added:
    Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts

  • BUG: Changing text colours within a text block: Keyboard shortcuts problem (Photoshop CS5)

    In earlier versions of Photoshop, I could double click a Paragraph Text to edit it, then select individual words and change their colours using the Ctrl+Backspace and Alt-Backspace keyboard shortcuts (to change them to either Background or Foreground colours).
    In PhotoShop CS5, Alt+Backspace is OK, but Ctrl-Backspace deletes the highlighted word! Not good. I believe this is a bug, can it be fixed to revert to the old behaviour?
    (Photoshop CS5 Extended x64 on Windows 7 x64)

    I fully understand what you're saying, and while I'm all for compatibility, user interface change cannot be accomplished without, well, change.
    Imagine, for example, that thousands of people could have reported that they couldn't delete the prior word with Ctrl-Backspace while using the T tool in Photoshop, while they could with every other application on their systems.  Imagine that none of the users like you reported that they were happy with things the way they already are.
    Perhaps the best approach in a situation like this would have been for Adobe to add a configuration option somewhere to allow individual users to make the choice.  But EVEN THEN there's a push from the Marketing types to simplify the number of choices given to customers, probably because doing so reduces support costs (imagine, for example, someone brainlessly setting it to your flavor of Ctrl-Backspace, then calling support to complain that they can't delete the prior word as they have always been able to do).  There are a lot of requests on this forum that read like "I must have changed a setting somewhere, but I'll be darned if I can find it."
    Microsoft and Adobe have both moved lately in this direction (reducing choices and configurability), reportedly to "reduce the cognitive load" on presumably ever less intelligent users, with ill effects in many cases.  Unfortunately, "you can have it any way you like so long as it's our way" seems to be the way of the future.

  • Can`t find keyboard shortcuts in EN_GB cs5 folder for AI.

    normally the keyboard shortcuts save to this folder EN_GB for CS5 AI.. as a file named KBSC KYS file.
    I cant locate it now either in the cs5 or cs4 directory which used to have the same...
    any ideas where its gone?

    I think I found it, its no longer titled KBSC but the icon reads "prefs" and grey text  "adobe premiere keys" for some reason..
    there are the "illustrator defaults", and my custom shortcuts titled "marks",
    I dont know why the icon title has changed though, for CS4, perhaps this happened when I installed the upgrade for CS5, can`t think of any other reason.
    as its the same in the CS5 en_GB folder.
    When I pasted the CS4 "marks" into the CS5 en_GB folder, they worked as my shortcuts in Ai CS5...

  • Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts in PSE 12

    Has the structure of the .kys file changed in CS6?  I used to be able to use the keyboard shortcuts from CS5 with my wife's laptop.  We recently went to CS6 on my desktop and PSE 12 on her laptop, and now the keyboard shortcuts that I try to copy from CS6 to PSE not only don't work, but are deleted by PSE as it exits.  I've put an old keyboard shortcuts.psp file that I had from CS5, and it works fine and doesn't get deleted.
    If my conclusion that the shortcuts are different and incompatible is correct, is there any workaround?
    I'm using Windows 7.  Thanks!

    It looks like the shortcuts from cs6 won't work in pse 12 and they don't work in photoshop cs5 either, so adobe must have changed something.
    Anyway, it's probably best to use the keyboard shortcuts from photoshop cs5, since pse 12 is mostly based on the photoshop cs5 code.
    This the message one gets in photoshop cs5 when trying to load a keyboard shortcuts file saved out of photoshop cs6.

  • Hey, where is there Puppet Warp keyboard shortcut?

    There are plenty, I mean, plenty of keyboard shortcuts in Ps CS5/CS6 but, where is the Puppet Warp keyboard-shortcut?? It doesn't seem to exist... At least, I can't find it nor can I create a Puppet Warp custom keyboard-shortcut, as well. What gives Adobe???

    Hi, Photomagneto! Welcome to the forums.
    Like you mentioned, there are a TON of keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop, which makes it very difficult to assign new features a shortcut. However, there is a nice feature that allows you to create your own!
    Under the Edit menu, you'll find Keyboard Shortcuts at the bottom. Once you're in there, you can find the Puppet Warp feature under the Edit submenu, and you can assign it a shortcut.
    I hope this helps!

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6/ Bridge & Lightroom Keyboard Shortcuts

    I would be grateful if someone could direct me to a pdf list showing keyboard shortcuts for Photoshop CS6, Lightroom and Bridge.
    Thanks

    For a reference to Adobe Photoshop's keyboard shortcuts, take a look at the new Photoshop CS6 Quick Reference Guide. It is in its beta form, but it is a great way to find shortcuts, as well as find a menu location that might have changed from CS5. We are looking for your feedback, which you can contribute on the site as well.

  • Photoshop CS6 issue with shortcuts and my keyboard after upgrade from CS5

    I recently upgraded from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended on my Mac (Mavericks), but installed it in English instead of German this time. I transferred most of my presets just fine, but none of the keyboard shortcuts were working. All I got was an unequal sign for all shortcuts and even manually changing them didn't get them to work. I found a few discussions about this issue and ended up adding a German keyboard, as I am always on the Romaji setting of my Kotoeri (Japanese) keyboard. That seemed to solve the issue, but only if I change to the German keyboard before opening Photoshop. Shortcuts don't work in CS5 anymore either unless I do. Sometimes the shortcuts also stop working a while after I change back to the Kotoeri keyboard.
    Now I would like to know if there is any way to get around this issue. Isn't there a way to get my shortcuts working again without constantly having to change keyboards? I much prefer the Kotoeri one since the icon for the German keyboard in my menu bar looks extremely obnoxious, in my opinion. It's mostly a cosmetic thing to me, but I would love to get everything back to the way it was before.
    I'd much appreciate any advice or help.

    I am having a similar problem. Just upgraded to Apple Yosemite and all none of my keyboard shortcuts are working in a clean install of Photoshop CS6. Every menu item has some form of the ≠ sign. I've trashed the .plist file, rebuilt permissions, etc. Even basic keyboard commands, like Command-N for NEW or Command-Q for QUIT do not work. In fact, many don't show up in the menu at all. I don't have this issue in InDesign CS6 or Illustrator CS6. Every once in awhile, maybe 1 time out of 20, menus and keyboard shortcuts work properly, but I can't find any pattern.

  • Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working -  t for text  - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

    So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
    to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
    Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
    All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
    t for text
    z for zoom
    v for pointer
    It's annoying because now I have to keep  going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
    Annoying but workable.
    Has anyone else go this issue?
    An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

    WARNING!!!
    I was contacted by  apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
    They logged in to my computer via team viewer
    installed utorrent
    and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
    in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
    This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
    If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
    However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
    They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
    Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
    I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
    you have been warned!

  • Disable Keyboard Shortcut for Open Adobe Bridge

    Is there a way to disable the keyboard shortcut which opens Adobe Bridge from Illustrator? Often when I'm working quickly I accidentally hit this (option command o) instead of (shift command o) to outline type. It halts everything to open Bridge, which I never use, and drives me crazy. Is there any way to disable this command?
    Any help would be greatly approciated!!

    Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Menu Commands > File and remove or modify the default shortcut for Bridge.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Keyboard Shortcuts Help

    Hey! Not sure if I am posting this in the right location, but anyway...
              I use a Wacom Cintiq with my Photoshop Cs5.1 package and have had some troubles when it comes to a particular keyboard shortcut.
         The scroll wheel on the Cintiq when it's set to brush size is using the default "[ and ]" which scales up and down the brush size in Photoshop and is how I want it to be. Though when I am painting I use the eyedropper tool a lot which is the "Option" key. I don't really want to change this as I am used to it being in that location and am not sure where else to set it on my keyboard.
         So the problem here is that when I am using the scroll wheel for brush size I am sometimes holding down the Option key so the keyboard shortcut "Opt + [ and ]" is being used which cycles through the different layers I have made. This can be very annoying when I am happily painting my illustration and suddenly I'm on a different layer without realising it.
         So how do you remove this keyboard shortcut "Opt + [ and ]" as I don't want it to cycle through the layers with this, I'd rather it be deleted. I have looked through keyboard shortcuts and can't find anything, I've also checked online and cannot locate a way of disabling it, thanks!
    P.S You may be thinking why don't I just change the keyboard shortcut to the brush size scroll wheel. Well I have tried that and it seems to be a little bit laggy if it doesn't use "[ and ]".

    nobody know?

  • Is there a way to move my keyboard shortcuts and preferences from CS3 to CS5?

    I just loaded CS5 and I'm starting to work with it. Big difference from CS3 and I'm finding things don't work the same at all. Anything i can do to make this seem more familiar, like using the same keyboard shortcuts and workspaces?

    Workspaces are stored as XML files in your user profile on Windows or the user library on Mac, in a subfolder called, strangely enough, workspaces.
    You may have run afoul of the new "content grabber" in the center of a frame that allows you to move the content without changing tools. Looks sort of like a dounut, or the center spot on some SLR camera focus viewfinders. You'll either love it or hate it, and it can be switched on or off in the View menu.

  • Importing CS4 Keyboard Shortcuts to CS5

    I've  discovered that you can open your custom keyboard shortcuts xml file in a  text editor, and copy/paste shortcuts into your CS5 keyboard shortcuts  file. Anyone else tried this? Is there an easier way to import all of  your keyboard shortcuts from CS4 to CS5?

    I did some experimentation, and I stand corrected! Apparently my memory was dodgy. In particular:
    My experience is that it basically works fine, though it's been a while.
    I thought we had tested this from CS3 to CS5, but it looks like maybe we only did it from CS5 to CS5.5. Which are a lot more similar.
    (And yes, I did recall people having complaints about it, but my experience disagreed...)
    Indeed, you have some problems with CS4 to CS5, but they are not subtle. At least, initially, I was getting a dialog box informing me that there were defined shortcuts in the shortcut set that were invalid (Somewhere along the way that stopped happening, which is Interesting, but probably not relevant).
    Anyhow, I certainly don't disagree that pasting the XML differences is the better way to go -- I said as much in post #13.
    But by way of recompense, here are a pair of scripts to make it easier.
    Both require you to create a special shortcut set called "defaults" (i.e. defaults.indk) that they use as a baseline for differences. For a variety of reasons, it is insufficient for the script to use the Default.indk file in the application directory. Both scripts pop up an error if you have not done this, and tell you how to do it.
    The first one, extractShortcuts.jsx, prompts you to select a shortcut file to extract from, compares it against the default shortcut set, and outputs and differences to a file on the Desktop, extracted.xml. Run this in CS4.
    The second one, importShortcuts.jsx, prompts you to select the extracted.xml file from previous, asks you for the name of the new shortcut set, and then merges the two. It merges them in a fairly stupid way (just plain appending just before the end), but it's probably sufficient.
    So here we go, exportShortcuts.jsx:
    #target InDesign
    (function() {
         var appdir = app.filePath,
              prefs, shortcuts,
              i, s,
              defaults, readcuts,
              defxml, readxml,
              e, ea, action, context, string,
              defaultsByAction, d;
         var includes = $.includePath.split(";");
         for (i=0; i<includes.length; i++) {
              s = includes[i];
              if (s.match("Preferences") && s.match(/Scripts$/)) {
                   prefs = new File(s).parent;
                   break;
         if (!prefs) {
              alert("Could not find User Preferences directory");
              exit(1);
         // $.writeln(prefs.fsName);
         shortcuts = prefs.getFiles("InDesign Shortcut Sets")[0];
         defaults = shortcuts.getFiles("defaults.indk")[0];
         if (!defaults) {
              alert(
         'The script requires a special shortcut set called "defaults" to exist.\n'+
         'The app-folder Defaults.indk is NOT sufficient. Please go to '+
         'Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, and select the the [Default] shortcut set,'+
         '  modify it in a trivial way (for instance, assign F1 to About InDesign),'+
         ' name the new set "defaults", remove the modification, and save the set.'+
         ' Then re-run this script.');
              exit(1);
         readcuts = shortcuts.openDlg("Select an INDK file to extract shortcuts from.","*.indk");
         writecuts = new File(Folder.desktop.fullName+"/extracted.xml");
         defaults.open("r");
         defxml = new XML(defaults.read());
         defaults.close();
         readcuts.open("r");
         readxml = new XML(readcuts.read());
         readcuts.close();
         writecuts.open("w");
         writecuts.writeln("<shortcut-sets>"); // hack
         defaultsByAction = {};
         for (i=0; i<defxml.shortcut.length(); i++) {
              e = defxml.shortcut[i];
              ea = e.elements()[0];
              if (ea.name() != "action-id") {
                   alert("Parse failure on element "+ea);
                   exit(1);
              action = ea.attributes();
              context = e.context[0];
              string = e.string[0];
              defaultsByAction[action] = { context: context, string: string };
         for (i=0; i<readxml.shortcut.length(); i++) {
              e = readxml.shortcut[i];
              ea = e.elements()[0];
              if (ea.name() != "action-id") {
                   alert("Parse failure on element "+ea);
                   exit(1);
              action = ea.attributes();
              context = e.context[0];
              string = e.string[0];
              d = defaultsByAction[action];
              if (!d ||
                   d.context != context ||
                   d.string != string) {
                   writecuts.writeln(e);
         writecuts.writeln("</shortcut-sets>"); // matching hack
         writecuts.close();
    And its mating half, importShortcuts.jsx:
    #target InDesign
    (function() {
        var appdir = app.filePath,
            prefs, shortcuts,
            i, s,
            defaults, readcuts,
            writename, writecuts,
            defxml, readxml,
            e, ea, action, context, string,
            defaultsByAction, d;
        var includes = $.includePath.split(";");
        for (i=0; i<includes.length; i++) {
            s = includes[i];
            if (s.match("Preferences") && s.match(/Scripts$/)) {
                prefs = new File(s).parent;
                break;
        if (!prefs) {
            alert("Could not find User Preferences directory");
            exit(1);
        // $.writeln(prefs.fsName);
        shortcuts = prefs.getFiles("InDesign Shortcut Sets")[0];
        defaults = shortcuts.getFiles("defaults.indk")[0];
        if (!defaults) {
            alert(
        'The script requires a special shortcut set called "defaults" to exist.\n'+
        'The app-folder Defaults.indk is NOT sufficient. Please go to '+
        'Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, and select the the [Default] shortcut set,'+
        '  modify it in a trivial way (for instance, assign F1 to About InDesign),'+
        ' name the new set "defaults", remove the modification, and save the set.'+
        ' Then re-run this script.');
            return 1;
        readcuts = Folder.desktop.openDlg("Select an XML file to import shortcuts from","*.xml");
        writename  = prompt("Choose a name for the new shortcut set. One word, no spaces, please.",
        "new");
        writecuts = new File(shortcuts+"/"+writename+".indk");
        defaults.open("r");
        defxml = new XML(defaults.read());
        defaults.close();
        readcuts.open("r");
        readxml = new XML(readcuts.read());
        readcuts.close();
        defxml.appendChild(readxml.elements());
        writecuts.open("w");
        writecuts.write(defxml);
        writecuts.close();
    These are written on a Mac. I suppose there's they might not work perfectly under Windows if the logic to find the user's keyboard shortcuts directory doesn't work.
    As always, install scripts by saving each script as a plain text file (in TextEdit or Notepad) and following directions at, e.g., How to Install InDesign Scripts.
