  • Can't map keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver CS6 (Mac)

I am trying to modify the keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver CS6 on Mac to match the mappings I had for CS5.
I used Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab to switch between open documents. When I trry to set this in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog it ignores my input. I tried to modify it in menu.xml (which already had this set, presumably because it copied it from CS5), but it still doesn't appear in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog or work when I press the keys.

I've just done some testing, and can confirm that Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Mac (UK keyboard) allows you to assign Ctrl+Tab to that keyboard shortcut. But it won't accept it on Dreamweaver CS6.
I've no idea why that should be so. It's probably an internal change to something else that has affected it, and nobody noticed during testing because it's not common to change an existing keyboard shortcut to something else.
I suggest that you file a bug report through the form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform. Reports filed through that form go directly to the program team.

  • Keyboard shortcuts won't work – please help

I have Dreamweaver CS3 on a PC with Windows XP, and recently had to reinstall my operating system to recover from a malware attack.  Ever since I redid my computer, I’ve been unable to use any keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver.  For example, Ctrl+v pastes in any other program, but in Dreamweaver, I only get a white arrow cursor with a white box in the bottom right of the cursor as soon as I press Ctrl.  F12 is set to preview a page in my default browser, but pressing it has no apparent effect. Does anyone have any advice on getting my keyboard shortcuts to work properly?  Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but you may have to reinstall Dreamweaver to get it to recognize your 'new' installation.
This has nothing to do with Dreamweaver not working correctly, but getting your os to recognize the keyboard shortcuts from the dreamweaver instalation.

  • Dreamweaver code-view keyboard shortcuts

I'm fearing the answer is no, but is there a way in Mac Dreamweaver code-view to enable the standard OSX keyboard shortcuts?  It seems that the Windows shortcuts are the only ones which work.
For example, CMD+right arrow should jump to the end of the line, whereas in reality it jumps to the end of the word.  'end' is required to jump to the end of the line.   Other shortcuts I'm thinking of are listed here: http://www.gskinner.com/blog/archives/2006/07/mac_text_naviga.html .  In essence, I want Eclipse-style shortcuts to work in DW.  CMD+D to delete a line would be helpful as well.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I'm pretty sure you're right: the answer is no. If you want Adobe to adopt those shortcuts, file a feature request through the official form at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.

  • Keyboard shortcuts in CFB on Mac

    Hi,
I work now with ColdfusionBuilder on Mac OS X and there are a few things I am missing from the Windows version. I use the latest on Mac OSX btw
In the CF editor, I can use ctrl+Arrow left to jump one word to the left and Ctrl+Arrow right to jump one word to the right.
A word boundary on Windows includes dots so I can travel a dot-separated string by word: "This.is.my.dot.separated.path" consists of 6 words and I am able to get to any word with ctrl-arrow (e.g. clicking twice ctrl-Arrow right brings me to "my"). On Mac the dots are discarded so the string "This.is.my.dot.separated.path" is seen as one word and I cannot jump in between dots.
In the navigation view I can travel a hierarchical tree with the cursor keys. To expand a tree I highlight the root  folder, press arrow right and then highlight any item within the expanded tree. To collapse the tree again I press arrow-left, regardless which item in the expanded tree is currently selected.
In CFB for Mac I can only collapse a tree this way when the root folder is highlighted. This forces me to travel to the root folder before I can collapse it.
Small things but boring on a day-to day basis.
Is there any fix for these?

I've just done some testing, and can confirm that Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Mac (UK keyboard) allows you to assign Ctrl+Tab to that keyboard shortcut. But it won't accept it on Dreamweaver CS6.

  • Keyboard Shortcut for comments

I have a question and something to share.
Turns out it's pretty easy to add a keyboard shortcut for
adding ColdFusion comments (mostly so that you don't have to click
on the comment dropdown and select the ColdFusion one, that's 2
clicks). You can add a keyboard shortcut to that Insert Comment
command. But by default it inserts HTML comments. So if you want it
to do something different you can modify this file: C:\Program
    Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS4\configuration\Objects\Text\Comment.js
The bad news is, I can't find a way to add a shortcut to
Remove Comment. Does anyone know how to do that?

    Jon
Not that I know of but you can make your own keyboard shortcuts for anything that is in a menu somewhere:
+System Preferences > Hardware > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Keyboard Shortcuts > All Applications > click the little plus sign under the window > Application: > Other > browse to Applications/iWork/Pages > Menu Title > Show Comments (type exactly including U&lc) > hit cmd shift c (or whatever you want)+
Since the shortcut works on the literal text, it will not toggle on and off. You will have to have another shortcut for +Hide Comments.+

  • Unable to change keyboard shortcuts

It drives me insane that Adobe doesn't use the standard Mac keyboard shortcuts in their applications for Mac.  I finally got annoyed enough that I went to fix them in Dreamweaver.  I found the place to set shortcuts, but when I try to replace the End key (for end of line) with Cmd+Right nothing happens.  If I hit a letter, for example, that key appears, but it doesn't seem to recognize Cmd+Right arrow as a valid sequence.  Before trying to add that I removed the shortcut for Cmd+Right that was associated with 'Word Right'.

    Hi Guys,
We are aware of this issue and are fixing this issue for the next update where the keyboard shortcuts would be as
    Move word left - CTRL+LEFT
    Move word right - CTRL+RIGHT
Move to start of current line - ALT+LEFT
Move to end of current line - ALT+RIGHT
I would appereciate it if Please log an enhancement request at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform for not being able to set keyboard shortcuts unless it includes a alpahbetical character

  • Indent code keyboard shortcut not working?

Working on a new website, I started working on my old laptop (white macbook) with Dreamweaver 5.0 installed. When it got too complex for the small screen I took the project to my work computer (Mac Pro) and continued working in Dreamweaver CC. On both computers the shortcut for 'indent code' work as advertised in the help files.
Tonight I took the project back home and continued working on my newer laptop (MacBookPro 17"). On this laptop I still had CS6 installed so I continued working in CS6. But for some reason the keyboard shortcuts for 'indent code' did not work. In the edit-menu there is no shortcut behind these commands. I found this very annoying, so I installed CC on this laptop too. After installing I took the prefs from the cloud and expected the keyboard shortcuts to work, but bo such luck...
I then quit Dreamweaver, replaced the Keyboard Shortcut.js file with the one from my Mac Pro. Still no go.
My work computer is running OSX 10.8, both my laptops are running OSX 10.9. So if the shortcuts a are somehow reseved by the system I guess they should not work on my old laptop either.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    A

Tried that, there are no shortcuts associated with these commands. I tried adding the shortcuts but that did not work either. I select the command, click the + sign and press the desired key combination (Shift+Command+>). The window disappears. Most likely because the ">" is also the "." and "command-." is the shortcut for "cancel"...
I did some further digging and found the shortcuts are stored in the Menus.xml file, burried deep in the Application Support/Abobe etc. folder. But this file is only there after you make a duplicate of the original keyboard settings. I opened this file (in Dreamwaver ) and found the shortcuts for indent/outdent code are there but for some reason it's ignored by Dreamweaver. I removed Dreamweaver from the computer and re-installed, no luck.
So I made a new set, opened the new xml file and first removed the shortcuts, saved the file, added the shortcuts and saved again. Now they work.
But I'd still like to know why it did not in the first place...

  • CS6: Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts javascript error

Does anyone know how to fix this:
In CS6, when I right-click a new snippet and select Edit Keyboard Shortcuts, I just get a javascript error, the same error I get if I try to create a keyboard shortcut directly from the menu at the top of the screen, Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts.
The error is "At line 321 of <path>\Keyboard Shortcuts.js getMenuTree: Argument number 1 is invalid."
After that, where the list of standard shortcuts should appear, the list is blank. All the other built-in shortcuts also are blank, and trying to duplicate the standard set  just creates a blank set and doesn't let me add anything. Deleting Dreamweaver's cache file, the blahblah.dat thing, doesn't fix it.

Troubleshoot JavaScript errors.  Start with steps 10 & 12.

  • Keyboard Shortcuts & Highlighting Have Changed

With this new release it appears my keyboard shortcut for move word left/right and highlight word left/right have changed. It used to be with the ctrl key. It changed to the alt key. I went ahead and created my own option set, but what is up with this? There may be other changes I haven't spotted yet.
Also, the highlighting has changed. The line number is bright turquoise and tag pairs (e.g. <div></div>) are suddenly highlighted in grey. There are more changes, but I just want to go back to the defaults I had. I'm pretty sure it changed with 13.1 build 6443, but I have downloaded two updates in the last couple of days. Is there any way to roll back the updates?
I just loaded 5.5 so I can get my work done without being irritated.
    Thanks in advance.

Looks like I should have read the link at the top of the discussion page. They've made these changes default and I'll have to figure out how to undo the ones I don't like.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/whats-new-dreamweaver-131.html#Keyboard%20shortcu ts%20and%20workspace%20synchronization
I would prefer not to have Adobe change my working environment without asking me - show me how to turn on the new features when I have time to deal with it.
In particular, if anyone knows how to change the color on the line number, I would appreciate it. The bright turquoise blue is a bit distracting for me. I'm having trouble keeping track of the cursor on the page.

  • New keyboard apple: keyboard shortcuts

    Hello,
How to adjust the keys (F1, F2, F3...) for my professional applications (Dreamweaver, Photoshop ...)?
    Thank you

    1) Go to system preferences and select Keyboard & Mouse.
    2) Click on the Keyboard Shortcuts button at the top.
    3) Click on the + button at the bottom.
    4) Select "Other" on the applications list, and choose Dreamweaver or Photoshop.
    5) Type in the Menu Title for the command you want to create the shortcut for.
    6) Type in your keyboard shortcut (preferably a long one, since the short ones are pretty much used by the program already),
    7) Click OK, and make sure you quit Photoshop in order for the changes to take effect.
    That's it! Happy shortcutting!

  • Does the keyboard shortcut Command-Shift-1 do anything?

I accidentally hit the keyboard shortcut Command-shift-1--nothing happened, but there was no error beep, either.
Was something I don't know about supposed to happen, good or bad?

I guess what makes me wonder is when nothing seems to happen, even no error beep when in the open file box in Dreamweaver when using Command-Shift-1 instead of Command-Shift-. to check for hidden files (or just being in Dreamweaver in general).
It's the not even getting an error beep response which sometimes makes me wonder did something happen which I wouldn't want to.

  • Keyboard shortcuts for CSS styles?

I'm trying to be good and move to CSS-only formatting, but
Dreamweaver makes it hard because there's no way to assign keyboard
shortcuts to user CSS styles, as far as I can tell. It's a quick
key-command or click to align=right but I have to use a squirrelly
menu to assign style=right. Any ideas? I tried Keyboard Maestro but
can't figure out a way to work with Adobe's nonstandard menus.
Using CS3 but for this I might consider using CS4. (I have a
license but reverted due to the awful user interface.)

Feel free to call support and complain about me. It won't do
    much good,
though. I'm not an Adobe employee.

It's not *my* expensive, bug-ridden software. I'm a user just
    like you.
    > I use Dreamweaver to save time. Got that?
Sure. I use Dreamweaver to save time, and I find the UI
    improvements in
CS4 do exactly that - at least for my workflow.
    > Now, YOU tell me how I'm wrong for wanting to apply a

If you want a keyboard command for doing it, submit a feature
    request to
    the development team:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I suppose having a keyboard command might speed things up,
    depending on
your workflow. But I don't find myself needing to fiddle
    between source
code and Design view, although I do have Split view open most
    of the
time, and find it very efficient to go from one to the other,
particularly with the Related Files feature and Code
    Navigator in
Dreamweaver CS4. The ability to split the screen vertically
    and use Live
View have also made a big difference.
You don't like the new interface. I do. You either work in a
    very
different way from me or haven't taken the time to discover
    the new
    features.

  • DW CS6 where to find keyboard shortcut to insert li tag?

Hi, before updating to the latest CS6 build (I think, certainly in DW5/5.5) I used to be able to define a keyboard shortcut to insert an li tag (and select that from the menu) - I used this all the time. I can not now see where I can define a shortcut to do this anymore (or a dt or dd for that matter). Either I am going blind, or it is a new bug. I hope it is the former and someone can tell me where it is. Thanks for any help!
NB: Update - I notice from here (http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/dreamweaver/using/changes-insert-options-creative-c loud.html#main-pars_text) that Creative Cloud CS has had Insert > Tag (and others removed) making it LESS functional to me than non-cloud CS6 and CS5.5. Who was the brain behind that decision?  Is the idea to get people to buy both offline and cloud versions and so make even more money? I thought Creative Cloud was the "ultimate" offering?

As you've already noticed, the Text category has been removed from the Insert panel/bar and Insert menu. As a result, you can't assign a keyboard shortcut to <li>, <dt>, or <dd>.
However, you can assign keyboard shortcuts to <ol>, <ul>, and <dl>. They're in the List submenu of the Format menu. Once you have inserted a list, just pressing Enter/Return should create the <li> items. In the case of a definition list, pressing Enter/Return creates <dt> and <dd> elements alternately.
If the change  in the 12.1 update wrecks your workflow, log a bug through the form at http://adobe.ly/DWBug. Sending feedback directly to the engineering team is the best way to get your viewpoint to the people who matter.

  • Add cite to keyboard shortcuts

Hi, I can't for the life of me find out where to add the <cite>text</cite> to the keyboard shortcuts.
    I'm using DW CS4.

In CS6, when I right-click the new snippet and select Edit Keyboard Shortcuts, I just get a javascript error, the same error I get if I try to do create a keyboard shortcut directly from the menu at the top of the screen, Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts. The error is "At line 321 of <path>\Keyboard Shortcuts.js getMenuTree: Argument number 1 is invalid." After that, where the list of standard shortcuts should appear, the list is blank.
