Keyboard shortcuts: to enhance photo, to add rating

In aperture I was able to create a keyboard shortcut to enhance photos. This became indispensable. Has anyone figured out a way to do this without clicking 4 times in different parts of screen?
Also I am really really annoyed to have to have the keyword window open in order to rate my photos. I'd like to be able to add ratings without that ugly window on top of everything. (I'm sorry but a heart isn't an effective way to manage what photos are trash, meh, good, great and very special)

And did you try F5 ? You'll soon use both F4 and F5 to clear your display

I am running my canon camera on the EOS utility program for mac, and i was wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut to start video recording, instead of using the mouse.

I am using EOS utility for MAC to run my canon camera at work. Can I create a keyboard shortcut for an AppleScript built into Quark6

I do a lot of photo scatters and sometimes have to use the "Picture box" "place name" script in Quark6. I wish I had a keyboard shortcut, because I use it as many as 80 times on a set of scatter images.
I am clueless about how do do this, is it possible?

Not only is this very possible, it's also very easy. You can do this not just for Quark but for any application in OS X. To accomplish what you want, do the following:
* Firstly, quit QuarkXPress completely. The rest of the steps won't work if it is still running.
* Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
* Click the Keyboard & Mouse System Preference Pane
* Click Keyboard Shortcuts
* Click the + button to add a new shortcut.
* Select QuarkXPress as the application.
* In the Menu Title field type "Place Name" exactly like that but without the quotes.
* Click inside the Shortcut field and type the key combination you want to use for this shortcut. I suggest using Command + one of the F keys, like Command+F1.
* Click Add.
* Close System Preferences
* Run Quark, open a document, and try it out!

How can I make a keyboard shortcut for 'insert footnote' in Pages 09?

I do a lot of accademic work and it is incredibly frustrating not to have a shortcut for one of the most frequent tasks i perform in pages. Please can someone help me?

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts Application Shortcuts > + > Application: Browse to Pages > Menu Title: Footnote > Keyboard Shortcut: hit combination of keys > Add
You will need to restart Pages but should then see it next to your Menu item.

Can I create a keyboard shortcut for changing text colors in Mail?

When composing an email in Mail (v5.2), I often have the need to change the text of a few words to red to highlight them (e.g. names of people assigned to an action item) but want to do it via keyboard shortcut. I know I can do the following:
Press Command-Shift-C brings up to Colors panel
Choose the color (e.g. Red) with my mouse
Type the text
Choose the color (e.g. back to Black) with my mouse
Continue typing text
And that's if I want the color panel to stay visible (add at least 3 more steps all together if I close it in the interim).
I've tried using keyboard shortcuts to assign a color (couldn't find the right menu path) and Automator to create a script (the color panel always has to be in the right location which it may not be). None of those techniques work.
It's an annoyance more than anything else but I imagine it should be possible.

I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut that involves 'two levels'- how to?

In Premiere Pro CC I'd like to be able to create a keyboard shortcut that allows me to add an edit with the razor tool wherever I am in the timeline, even if I am currently in the selection tool. Could someone walk me through how to do this? I use a Mac.

Also, if you prefer to work by mouse, select the Razor Tool and then hold Shift when clicking.
Note that you can protect clips from being cut by locking their tracks.

How do I customize Firefox keyboard shortcuts without using an add-on?

I want to modify shortcuts '''without using add-ons, extensions, or plug-ins'''. In other words, I would like to know how to modify a keyboard shortcut in a way that does '''not '''involve installing a plug-in, extension, or add-on. So, an answer that states that I should install this extension, or that plug-in is a useless answer and will be rated unhelpful as will indicate that you didn't read the question.

I actually made this happen a few versions back, but I don't remember how I did it. I have looked through the about:config entries and can't find it. I looked through the ...xul keybindings and did not find it. I know it can (or recently could) be done, but I don't remember how.
The problem with the existing shortcut is that on a laptop, the Home button is frequently sharing space with another key. It is a hassle to have to access Home and the alt key when accessing Home is itself an operation.
The problem with add-ons is that I cannot, in a reasonably quick momentary glance, determine their safety now, nor in the future as they are updated. Since Mozilla does not certify add-ons as safe, I prefer to avoid them.
Other programs don't present such difficulties with simple things like modifying shortcuts. It's pretty standard for that to be accessible from a Customize submenu in one of the main drop-downs.

Keyboard shortcut for "add face"

I am going through my library add face names to all my photos.
The automatic search isn't great, so it's taking a very long time to go through each photo.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to add a new face? I'm having to move the mouse around to click on "Add New Face" and would prefer to work just off the keyboard

Thanks - that's a shame as it really is time consuming adding new faces (and then also adding the right names).
I see there is an option to "Detect Missing Faces" - if I select a number of photos will it only detect those highlighted, or, my whole library? I would have thought the former but when I do it takes a long time so thought it maybe its detecting faces across the whole album.

1. I am looking for an app to quickly resize photos using keyboard shortcuts, i.e. Control + R, just like I can do with Irfanview in Windows.
2. I am looking for an app which will quickly resize multiple photos like I can do with Irfanview.
3. I am looking for another (or the same) light weight app to quickly convert and combine one or more jpgs to PDF. The windows app I am currently using is called JPEGtoPDF from www.compulsivecode.com.

Photoshop Elements has the ability to sync and save photos in Adobe Revel with the use of mobile albums. Photoshop Elements is a consumer product that is not included in creative cloud. Photoshop is the professional photo editing app that is included in Creative Cloud.

Everytime I add a keyboard shortcut, the settings app crashes.

So I go to the keyboard shortcuts section on the settings app. Then I hit the "add shorcut" button and I enter the shortcut, etc. When I finish entering everything in, I touch "save", and as soon as I do that, the app crashes to the home screen. It does actually save the shortcut, but it is a huge pain to have to navigate my way back to the shortcuts feature each time, especially because I have a lot of shortcuts that I need to enter. I have an iPhone 5 and the latest iOS. Can anyone help with this?

I have a similar issue, when I go to open the shortcuts, the Settings App crashes so I can't even get in to add more.

How to, add new lines under 'Phrase' in keyboard shortcuts

Hi, new owner of a 4s and need to be able to add several lines such as an address to the 'phrase' box in keyboard shortcuts. If i hit return it takes me to the 'Shortcut' box. I need to create many of these shortcuts so using signature is not going to help.

Is there any possibility this will change? I have seen other posts asking for this too (i.e. want to use a shortcut to define a multi-line signature block). I wanted to do this so I could have a work signature and a personal signature, and chose between them with a shortcut.
Now wouldn't that be spiffy and make millions of untold iPhone users giddy with joy?

PS Wouldn't using the \n convention make sense? That is what I tried before attempting to look it up. I also understand \r has some history with apple. Either would be dandy.

Mail Keyboard Shortcut for Add Hyperlink...

I added Control Option H as a new shortcut for Add Hyperlink in the Mail pull down menu
It showed up in the Keyboard Shortcuts list and also shows correctly in the pull down menu after I quit and re-opened Mail; however when I try the shortcut, nothing happens.
Could it be that I have to take into account pulling down the Edit menu first, to get to the Add Hyperlink command?
And it only works after I create a New Message.
How do I do all this?

I'm not sure why this keyboard shortcut isn't recognized. In the meantime, you might try a different one.
+These examples worked for me:+
Option + Control + Up Arrow (⌥⌃↑)
Using a function key, F1, F2, F3, etc.
Using a function key with a modifier, e.g., Option + F2 (⌥F2).

Why can't I add keyboard shortcuts for Adobe GoLive 9?

Since the demise of Unsanity's Menu Master on Leopard, I've been taking the more tedious (and problematic) route of using System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts to add and modify keyboard shortcuts for menu actions.
I just tried to add my first shortcut to Adobe GoLive 9, which resulted in this uninformative error dialog:
"You cannot add keyboard shortcuts for the application Adobe GoLive 9."
Why? (The only real problem I've had with the previous 11 applications is ambiguous menu items, i.e., the same menu action name in more than one menu sub-action.)
(I'm now resorting to an even more tedious shortcut technique - QuicKeys X3. QuicKeys is great, but it's overkill for a simple keyboard shortcut.)

I've found another:
"You cannot add keyboard shortcuts for the application Adobe Reader."
