Keyboard shortcuts to "pop ups" changed from 10.4 ?

When changing or adding an extension to a file (i.e. .doc), I used to just hit "Command - A" to respond to the pop up of "Don't Add" or "add" extension warning.
In 10.5 it seems that when I hit Command A, the window closes but it acts as if I hit the "Don't Add" button.
Even when Tabbing to move the highlight to "circle" the "Add" button, it seems there is no way to accept this unless clicking with the mouse.
Is this a global change int he OS, or something in Keyboard shortcut prefs?

I'm not at my Mac right now, but for some buttons if you just hit command, the full shortcut appears in the button. Would it happen to be showing a different shortcut when you just hold down the command key?

  • How Many Functions And Keyboard Shortcuts etc. Are Missing From FCE 4 ?

Seven hours ago I set out to discover the answer to this but I got side-tracked and discovered my camera had a microphone channel missing !
So is there anything missing from FCE4 ?
There have been spurious claims that things like "Export to Soundtrack" have been dropped and though the actual command has disappeared the functionality is there in "Export to QuickTime".
However, I seem to remember Tom saying that a certain keyboard shortcut (which I can't remember) is missing.
Has anyone noticed any particular items that really have been omitted ? (Don't say Soundtrack or 9GB of LT Media!)

    Hi Ian,
just to confirm that what you and Tom have found is the same I have so far.
A comment: while all other commands now missing in the FCE4 contextual menu are available in its standard menus, the Clip Enable command is really a ghost command. Only the control-B keyboard shortcut toggles it, there is no mention of it in any menu, but it appears in Tools/Button List. The online Help mentions a Modify/Clip Enable commands that does not actually exist, but on the other hand it does not mention its keyboard shortcut that in fact works... very clear!

  • Has the command-P keyboard shortcut to print been removed from Pages 5.2?

Is this just me or has one of the most used keyboard shortcuts been removed from the latest Pages?
You have to navigate the mouse to File>print...?  No command>P?

Thanks.  I went to Keyboard in System Preferences and added command+P as print command.  No idea why it disappeared from Pages - but not Safari.
    Back in action.

  • I can't get Firefox to allow pop ups - changed setting in options but still blocking pop ups

I have tried to allow pop ups by changing preferences in options but Firefox is not allowing the pop up windows. It used to work before but I can't understand why it won't work now.

Under "Content" in Options, you have UNchecked "Block pop-up windows", yet you still don't see any popups? Can you give us an example of a site that is not showing pop-ups despite you turning the feature off?
A good site to test the pop-up blocker feature is http://www.popuptest.com/ where you can see if it's running or not. More info here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Pop-up%20blocker?s=pop-up&r=0&e=sph&as=s

  • Keyboard Shortcuts to switch spaces changing.

I have configured my keyboard shortcuts to use custom shortcuts for switching spaces (I have 7 spaces).  I use command + 1 to switch to space 1, command + 2 to switch to space 2, etc.  However, for some time now, when I log out, lock the screen, or anything other than a total shut down or restart, my shortcuts stop working.  By that, I mean that hitting command + 2 will take me to space 3 instead of 2.  This wouldn't be that big of a deal except my workflow has certain apps set to certain spaces and being thrust to the wrong one (and which wrong one changes again when I log out, lock screen, etc).  When I check my shortcuts in preferences, they all still show as being correct.  This has happened across multiple macs (2 MBP Retinas and a brand new iMac) on different (non-transferred) users all with Mountain Lion.  Please help!

I know this is an old post, but in case someone else has this problem:
Try going to System Preferences -> Mission Control and uncheck the box for "Automatically rearrange spaces based on most recent use".

  • Keyboard shortcuts to switch TTYs changed

I have a problem similar to what is described by other people in this thread, but I didn't want to hijack it because this is a different issue than what the OP was talking about.
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=128226
I recently updated the kernel to 3.14.6-1 and this problem started appearing after that.
Whenever I press Alt + left or right, it switches to the next or previous TTY.
Previously, I switched TTYs with Ctrl Alt Fx. Now only Alt Fx will switch TTYs.
The Alt + left/right TTY switching did not happen before, and now it interferes with going forward or back in browsers.
I looked at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Keyboard_Shortcuts, and it seems that the shortcuts in the Terminal/Virtual Console section carry over into the X server.
How can I get rid of the Alt + left/right shortcut and require Ctrl to be pressed to switch TTYs with a F-key?

This happens in the console and X.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Keyboard_Shortcuts It seems that X doesn't disable the virtual console shortcuts when it starts (or whatever it does to keep the TTY shortcuts from doing things).

  • Change Stamp Visible keyboard shortcut?

I have looked through all the menu keyboard shortcuts and of course have found Merge Visible which doen't help me.  I don't see anything in keyboard shortcuts that lets me change Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E to something different.  Exactly what is that shortcut called in PS CS5, where do I find it?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Sure does seem to be missing from the obvious places, doesn't it?  Probably because it's not actually in a menu anywhere.
Recording an action does yield a bit of a clue...  It records as Merge Visible With Duplicate:
The Alt seems to add the "With Duplicate".
Just a guess, but based on the above, if you were to change the Merge Visible shortcut to something besides Control-Shift-E you might find that adding Alt to whatever you assign to that function would be a Stamp Visible operation.  I didn't try that.
Or you could record an action as above and assign it a function key.

  • How do I change the keyboard shortcut for Cycle through open documents in PS CC for Mac?

Sorry to bug the community with such a seemingly inconsequential task, but I am seriously tired of using the awkward default keyboard shortcut for cycling through open docs in PS.  I'd like to change it to what I am used in in Chrome, which is Cmd+Option+[left] or {right} arrow keys.  I noticed this is not a command listed in the in keyboard shortcuts, for whatever reason.  Where on Earth can I change this?
If it is not possible to do it by default, is there a plug-in or a change to the code that will allow this basic functionality?
    Thanks again guys and gals!

As far as I know, you can't. It's "hard wired" in.  Not even Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts is allowed  to change it.
However I did find this tip:
Anyway i never found tabs in Adobe application useful, instead i prefer the old school method: simply switch off tabs feature via illustrator/ preferences/ user interface/ open documents as tabs. Then in Mac preferences panel, under keyboard, just search for the “focus on next application window” field (under menu, keyboard and text) and assign a shortcut if the default option doesn't fit you. And there is now you can easily switch between open documents!.
The best part of this is that it can be used in all mac applications, not only Adobe ones. And remember, if you want this working on Indesign, Photoshop, etc be aware of first switch off the tab features so that the system could “see” multiple documents opened not only one single tabbed document.

  • Keyboard shortcuts creation

Ok in Windows in Lotus notes.  I used to be able to write an email, highlight text, type
atl-t to get to the text menu
    c to open colors
and various letters to change to a specific color
I though it would be nice to create an appliation keyboard shortcut do map say cmd-1 to red and so on. This doesnt work . i assume because the command and 3 deep in the menu structure
    i am doing a ctrl-f2
    t
    c
color now to get to a color, not bad, but seems like it could be shorter... Thoughts?
    Thanks

as you seem to be aware we are regular users just as yourself. we can not explain apple design decisions. zoom shortcuts are set on per application basis but privately, I agree that it would certainly be nice to have uniform shortcuts for common functions, at least across apple applications. they actually seem to realize that themselves. I noticed that in snow leopard empty trash shortcut in Mail was changed from command+k to commandshiftdelete which is the same as in finder.
But as for zoom shortcuts you can leave apple feedback on the issue which you've already done. and you can also remap those shortcuts to anything you want in system preferences->keyboard->keyboard shortcuts. just create your own shortcuts overriding and they will override the default ones.

  • In Safari is there a Keyboard shortcut for Merge All Windows?

Majority of sites sill open new pages in new windows, not new tabs. So, I keep using the Merge All Windows feature all the time. Please, provide a keyboard shortcut for this!

Although there is no default keyboard shortcut for the menu item in question, there is nothing preventing you from creating your own.
Under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts, press the "+" sign. From the Application drop-down menu, choose Safari. In the Menu Title field enter "Merge All Windows" -- without the quotes. In the Keyboard Shortcut field, enter your desired key combo and then click the Add button.
You'll need to quit System Preferences and restart Safari for the change to take effect. Good luck.

  • Reassign keyboard shortcut for timeline playback

How can I reassign the keyboard shortcut for playback on the animation timeline?  Right now it is the spacebar.  If I hold the spacebar, it switches to the move tool.  If I tap it, it plays back my animation.  Too often I accidentally tap for playback when I just want to use the move tool.  I'd much rather have the two be separate keys altogether.
I use Photoshop CS5 Extended on Windows 7.

    Hi there -
If you go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, and select "Panel Menus" from the "Shortcuts For" dropdown menu, you can set (or change) shortcuts for the Timeline panel.
**EDIT: Couldn't seem to find the spacebar shortcut for play/stop in this menu...still trying to find a solution for you. Alternatively, you can uncheck Enable Timeline Shortcuts Keys from the Timeline panel to disable the shortcuts.

  • [SOLVED] xfce4 application specific keyboard shortcuts

    Hi All,
I remember being able to directly change a menu shortcut with xfce, although I could be mis-remembering.  I want to bind 'Send Now' in Thunderbird to Ctrl+Shift+d (or just Ctrl+D I guess), because that is what I am used to.  I don't think I can do this in the xfce keyboard global keyboard shortcuts, those just launch apps from the command line, and I don't think I can use the window manager shortcuts either, although I may be wrong.  I remember just highlighting a menu item and choosing a key combination, and that that just worked... but I can't find it anywhere now.  Is it maybe a different window manager?
I am using xfce4 with xfwm4 4.10.1-1. I have compositing switched on.  Let me know if there is any other info you need about my setup, I am honestly not sure which parts of the desktop environment/window manager/application settings/kernel (probably nothing to do with the kernel) are involved here, so I am not sure what info to give.
    Thanks!

Yup, that's it: editable menu Appearance->Settings.  Sadly it doesn't work in Thunderbird.  Thanks though!
The solution in Thunderbird is the keyconfig extension.  I found the help page at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyconfig_ext … hunderbird and figured out the solution:
    1. Install keyconfig
    2. Navigate to keyconfig Preferences
    3. Click 'Add a new key' at the bottom left
    4. Name the key anything, I chose 'key_send' as that is the name of the key
    5. Replace /* CODE */ with  goDoCommand("cmd_sendNow") and click 'OK'
    6. Assign a hotkey and click 'Apply'
    7. Restart Thunderbird
    8. You're done!
That worked for me.  Hopefully this helps someone else one day.

  • Application Keyboard Shortcuts not working in Text Edit

Under System Preferences (Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Application Keyboard Shortcuts -> All Applications), I changed some basic keyboard shortcuts (Copy, Paste, etc.) to use the ctrl key instead of the command key. These shortcuts seem to work well in the basic applications I use (MS Office, Firefox, etc.)
However, they do not work in TextEdit. I did verify that the Menu name in I entered in System Preferences matches exactly the way it appears in TextEdit.
Anyone else have the same problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it? I would very much like this fixed since my switching between Windows (in Parallels) and Mac OS X is seamless except for the fact that I have to remember different keyboard shortcuts in each OS. Thanks in advance!

  • Disable Keyboard Shortcut for Open Adobe Bridge

Is there a way to disable the keyboard shortcut which opens Adobe Bridge from Illustrator? Often when I'm working quickly I accidentally hit this (option command o) instead of (shift command o) to outline type. It halts everything to open Bridge, which I never use, and drives me crazy. Is there any way to disable this command?
Any help would be greatly approciated!!

Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Menu Commands > File and remove or modify the default shortcut for Bridge.

  • Different keyboard shortcuts in Adobe Reader 9 for navigation

In Adobe Reader 9 (German) the keyboard shortcuts for navigation have changed obviously. In previous versions one can zoom in/out to window size with "CTRL-0". Now CTRL-0 zooms in (like CTRL-+ before). CTRL-1 seems to zoom out. Is this a bug or why does Adobe change the shortcuts in Adobe Reader 9 (btw: any other Adobe product uses the same shortcuts as older versions).
Does anybody know, how to resize the document to window size via keyboard shortcut?
    Thanks in advance. Best regards.

    Hi!
I was wondering about the exact same thing:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b65468
I believe it is not a bug, just an unreasonable, stupid change.
Thanks though, for mentioning that you actually can zoom in now using ctrl+0 (or ctrl+2 i guess)!
For resizing to window size I use "ctrl+L", so if you are in zoomed mode you have to holde ctrl and hit L twice to jump to window size again. Hope that helped!
