Keyboard shortucts not working correctly in several programs since Leopard

Since upgrading to Leopard, certain keyboad commands no longer work. I read since Expose uses the F9, F10 and F11 keys, these may not work in other programs. Final Cut Express recommended switching those keys to Control-F9, Control-F10, and Control-F11. This however, has not helped. Keyboard shortcuts in FCE and other programs are still inconsistent. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have to cover the sensors with my hands in order for them to turn off when light is back on, otherwise they just stay on.

  • Keyboard / Mouse not working correctly all of a sudden

I spilt a little of my drink on my keyboard, but I dried it up with a towel immediately and it seemed fine. I probably was pressing multiple buttons while I was drying it off though. After I got done, the keyboard and mouse are not working right. I can only type my password into the OSX logon screen, then I can't type anything anywhere. When I left click with my mouse, it opens a dialog box instead of clicking (unless I'm clicking on a menu).
What should I do to get it working right again?
    Thanks

Also, when I open Word and could type in it one time, it just showed boxes even though I was using times new roman.

  • Keyboard backlight not working correctly after leopard update

My mbp originally came with Tiger (10.4), when Leopard (10.5) was released I updated. The backlight for the keyboard works normally until I installed the 10.5.1 update. After 10.5.1 and all other updates the keyboard backlight no longer worked correctly. In low light conditions or while working in the dark I have to manually turn it on instead of it doing it automatically. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix it?

  • Envy 2 Since 8.1 update keyboard does not work right did several driver updates with no results?

I even restored to factory settings, can i go back to 8.0 if Hp and Ms can't get it right?

    Pete,
The invitation to Upgrade to Windows 8.1 comes from Microsoft.
If you did not make backups, you might be able to order replacement Media from HP.
You may find Recovery Media at your computer's website.  Start at:
    HP Drivers & Downloads
If available, the Media has its own category: Order Recovery Media

Microsoft does care about their customers.  Microsoft's enthusiasm for Windows 8.1 might have overshadowed their inclination to warn you that not EVERY computer on the planet is able to run Windows 8.1 easily - or, in some cases, at all.
The Envy 2, IF you are talking about the Envy X2 - one of various models, should be able to run Windows 8.1 if some precautions are taken ahead of time.
    For example:
Every driver must be updated to Windows 8.1 before you Upgrade
Most user installed programs should be removed
Most user settings should be set back to standard.  For example, set a standard background, do not expect your fancy Start Screen settings to survive, back up and strip the stuff from your Desktop.
All connected devices must be removed.
    Security software must be removed.
You should not attempt the Upgrade without having the means to get back to where you started.  Translation:  Make Backups - Make Backups - Make Backups
The following might help you if you want to try again:
Upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
Good Luck!  Windows 8.1 is worth the journey if you can be successful.

    Relevant section from xorg.conf:

When I comment out XkbLayout all the keys on my keyboard work (windows key works, can switch to virtual terminals) but the keys are mapped wrong ( @ in the wrong place for etc) , but with the UK layout some keys don't work (windows key works, can't switch to virtual terminals etc) , so what can I do?

Thanks a lot, that's fixed nearly all of my problems, now I can't get the pound sign to work (alt + 3) , it puts a ? instead, anybody know how to fix this?
Are you sure that the font you are using has a pound sign? Is your LANG environment variable set correctly for the terminal program you are using? Some terminals, when confronted with a character code for which they do not have a font character display the interrogation sign.

Ah, yes, it was a font issue, thanks for helping me out on that one .

  • MY keyboard is not working correctlY

    Hello,
I suspect mY kids split a drink over mY macbook pro. MY keyboard has several issues:
-When I type lower case Y, I onlY get uppercase Y.
-When pressing the spacebar I get a space but its followed bY a closed square bracket.
-When pressing enter the function works but the forward slash character is displaYed.
Does this mean I need to replace the keYboard, if so how can I find the part number for the keyboard.
    Thanks for support
    Shaun

Look for parts on the iFixit.com amd Powerbookmedic.com web sites.  They also have prices and instructions there.  E-bay is another parts source.
I would urge you to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.   That way the problem with the MBP will be properly defined and you can then make informed decisions.
    Ciao.

  • Keyboard is not working correctly on my Satellite notebook

When I press some of the buttons on the keyboard, the button beside them is activated. eg I press the a button and it turns on the caps lock. This happens to other buttons as well.
What is causing this? How do I fix it?

    Hi
I think its keyboard hardware malfunction
You can try to connect an external USB keyboard and could test the functionality.
If this issue would not appear using external USB keyboard, then this means that the controller on the motherboard is OK and the issue is your internal keyboard which would need to be replaced.

  • Keyboard not working correctly on laptop. What do I do?

so I was using windex to clean my laptop and it went on my keyboard too. I cleaned it off but I noticed that it was not functioning properly. Some letters were not even working. After 24 hrs. almost everything is working but not correctly. Some keys be typing weird things and opening programs. Like w types out 2w and e opens a program. F8 doesn't work either. Please help.

    Hello gurmeet1126,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the keyboard is not working correctly. I'll do my best to help, but first I require the following information:
    1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number
    2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.
    3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?
    4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?
Also, try another keyboard. This will help determine whether or not the issue is with one keyboard or several. Thanks!

  • Boot-up keyboard commands not working

    Hello.
For some reason, when my iMac is booting up, the keyboard commands to affect boot-up (for example, holding Option to pick which drive to boot into) do not work. It wasn't too much of an issue before, since I could access my Boot Camp partition through the Startup Disk preferences pane. But that partition suddenly stopped showing up there, and with holding Option not working, my Boot Camp drive is essentially inaccessible to me. Does anyone know why these keyboard boot-up commands are not working, or any way to fix this? I'd greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Please help!
I picked up a Mac Pro Dual Intel Quad-Core from a partners office. The system has four 750gb drives. It had Tiger on it.
Here are the steps I tried:
    1. I got leopard and installed it. I installed on drive 1.
    2. Software updates. Installed Flash runtime and Silverlight runtime.
    3. Opened boot camp and split the boot drive equally for windows and mac os.
    4. I then tried installing Vista Business and my monitor freaked out. I started having weird colors displaying after the boot up to the Windows Vista Disk. The Disk is from my MSDN subscription and I've installed with it before. The install failed after Windows install restarted the machine.
    5. Reformatted all the drives and reinstalled Leopard with the OSX boot DVD. I skipped installing updates and just went straight to boot camp after a fresh Leopard install. Same problem on windows install.
    6. I thought the drive might be messed up, so I wiped all the drives again and tried installing OSX on drive 4. BIG MISTAKE :-/
OSX worked but once I started installing windows Vista it crapped out again.
Now I can't boot to anything.
I tried manually putting each drive into bay 1 to boot. No dice.
None of the boot shortcut commands seem to work: Holding option does nothing at start up. Can't boot into single user mode. Holding c does nothing at start up. It's possible my keyboard is not working correctly because I have had problems with my USB keyboard in the past.
Any suggestions?? I'm going nuts here and I need this machine set up ASAP for a huge project.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Java programs do not work correctly in my computer.

This is very simple. Every java program I have, such as the Java Control Panel or the LimeWire (downloads program) can't work correctly, meaning the program's window appears but not its content; showing a blank window instead of showing me the program. I have reinstalled the complete java software several times but nothing changes.
I will appreciate a quick answer, and sorry for my bad english, thanks...

  • The volume keys on my Logitech K760 wireless keyboard do not work with my 2.3 GHz, Intel Core i5 Mac mini which runs Mac OS X 10.7.4. Anyone know how to correct this without having to re-code firmware?

My first post to the Apple Support Community so it looks like all I wanted to know is covered in the title. The research I have done led me to solutions that I am not comfortable trying for fear of irreparably damaging my keyboard and/or Mac mini. Does anyone have a simpler solution? Please? Hellooooo?
Just in case the title is too long to show, I have re-pasted here:

Installation went well but when I boot either with OSx or Win it always keeps Windows keyboard.
How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

Keyboard not working correctly after updating to 8.1 64bit pro.
After I updated, everything seemed ok and then all of the sudden I rebooted and only the f1 – f12 row would work. I resorted to resorted to unplugging and removing the battery and it would work for a short amount of time. This has been reported on other laptops as well, see here.

I think it can be solved with a driver update from hp or the keyboard builder but none is online.
