Keyboard stops working for the finder after software update 10.5.7

It is working for any other application, but in the finder I cant use any shortcut, quick view, rename files etc...
I have tried rebooting and for a couple of minutes it was working fine, but then it stop working again.
I have also try repairing permissions with DiskUtility ands running scripts with Cocktail, but the problem remains the same.
Any ideas?

It's a bit of a longshot, but have you tried trashing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Finder.plist?

USB Audio stopped working on 27" ACD after software update 1.0

Hi all,
My 27" ACD worked flawlessly until I installed 27-inch LED Cinema Display Software Update 1.0 earlier tonight. I have a unibody MacBook Pro that doesn't output audio from the mini displayport, when I got the ACD Friday, USB audio output worked fine. I also have a 24" ACD and audio worked fine on that as well. But after software update 1.0, I can no longer get audio output of the 27" ACD to work via USB, I even rebooted my Mac and it still doesn't work. After trying it a few times in Sound.prefPane, I now can't even select the "Display Audio - USB" option (when I click on it it reverts to the other option right away).
From /var/log/system.log, I believe this is the error related error message:
System Preferences[332]: Error ^P trying to set sOut device to 264

I have this problem too. I have the 27-inch LED cinema display connected to my Mac Pro 1,1 via the Radeon 5770. I also suspected it had something to do with the machine going to sleep, but the audio doesn't disappear every time it goes to sleep. Unplugging the monitor fixes the problem.
I also noticed that when the sound has went away, if I try to change the volume there will be a long delay before seeing the volume-change graphic. Also, toggling the sound device in System Preferences while the problem is in effect is unresponsive, sometimes giving the beach ball. Finally, this message is seen in console logs when the sound has went away:
10/19/10 6:01:22 PM kernel USBF: 75053.200 AppleUSBEHCI[0xf3d0800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out! (Addr: 5, EP: 0)
I can make this message appear on demand by attempting to change the volume.
If (when) this happens again, I'm calling support.

TS2771 itouch stopped working with Bose sounddock after software update 5.1.1

Have an iTouch that used to work well with Bose SoundDock. Then updated iTouch software to version 5.1.1 and as usual apple ITouchOS now does not recognize the Bose SoundDock at all now. Error message iTouch does not support this accessory. What the heck? How to fix? Buying new dock is not solution. iTouch is gen 4.

You can try the standard fixes:
Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
- If still the problem then it appears that the iOS update broke the compatibility. That happens sometimes. In that case you have to wait for an update from either Apple or Bose.
- Also, use the communities search box in the upper right and search for. bose. I think other users had same problem. It is hard to remember the dock manufacturer.

My camera on my iPad 2 has stopped working for the second time.

My camera on my iPad.2 has stopped working for the 2nd time. Last time it just started working again after a couple of months.
I have tried closing the camera app completely & also re-booting the iPad completely but to no avail.

You'll first need to have iTunes on your computer - from the summary page (the one that opens when you select the iPad in iTunes) it'll give you options for backing up and restoring it. On that page just select 'restore iPad' and that'll get it started.
Hope it's just software then, those out-of-warranty replacements can get pricey.

It appears that the developer has released a newer version of Hotmail Watcher. Version 2.13 located at https://sites.google.com/site/sonthakit/hotmailwatcher. You should try updating it to see if it works then.

Sound Not Working for ENVY dv6 after recent updates

Not sure if it was the most recent updates that did it or if it was just random, but...my sound has stopped working. OCCASIONALLY right after I restart, I can get the sound to work for a few minutes, but that's about it. (I'm running Windows 8.1, by the way.)
I've tried the troubleshooter and it claims there's no issue. Sound card is there and working as far as I can tell; it's all enabled. I'm not muted or anything quite that trivial. I would try uninstalling an update, but I'm not sure that would even help. Prior to the update, my sound had started becoming distorted at time and a little crackly. Nothing too drastic or often, so I wasn't too bothered. Obviously, I am bothered by a complete lack of sound.
I have no idea whether or not headphones work still. I haven't been able to get the speakers working long enough to try them. "Fixit" claims it won't work with my computer, so I can't try that alternate troublershooter.
I've read every message board imaginable and updated and re-updated all my drivers. Not the issue. I have no idea what's wrong and no idea how to fix it, but it needs to be fixed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hard drive runs all the time after software update

After a software update from Apple a couple of weeks ago, for some reason the hard drive now runs noisily and continuously ever since. It's never run that way in the 3 years I've had the machine. It would run briefly sometimes while using some websites, but it would always stop and quiet down once the site was done. Anybody else had this happen? Thanks - L Agnew.

Make sure you have enough available drive space for updates. Right click your MacintoshHD icon and then click Get Info. In the Get Info window, where it says: General click the black arrow so it faces down. You will see Capacity and Available. Watch that the available drive space never falls below 15% of the total drive. (Some say 10%, but that's pushing it). Not enough drive space will cause apps to crash and freeze, including browsers.
If drive space is the issue, you need to copy files to external source. Don't forget to delete the originals on the hard disk.
If drive space isn't an issue try deleting this file. com.apple.softwareupdate.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Launch Software Update either from the Apple Menu or the System Preferences/Software Update pane.

After today's software update my MacBook Pro won't start when the required restart is completed. I get to the "pre-login screen" where I type in my password, and then I end up at a screen saying I have to hold down the power button and then restart the computer. It also says "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\"...
What is there to do now? Will I lose everything on my harddrive if I reboot the computer completely?

Ipad2 stopped working with zeppelin speaker after software install?

I have recently installed the latest software upgrade for my ipad2 and it is now not playing through my zeppelin speaker although my iPhone had the latest upgrade

The inference is that the speaker is working with your iPhone after the same update. If that is correct then I have no other suggestions other than 1) checking the connection, and 2) reading the last part of the attached link concerning the side swithc for it is there that so many fall foul! http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

If Apple replaced the logic board three times for the same issue, and the third board has now broken for the same reason, you may be able to ask Apple for a replacement machine. You're out of warranty, and Apple is under no obligation to do anything for you (unless the current logic board was replaced by Apple less than 90 days ago in which case it's still under warranty), however, as a good will gesture, they may be willing to exchange your system for another one. You can start at the Apple store or call Apple customer care directly.

thanks for the help, adobe has notified me that it will not work in firefox, and to please use a different browser, loaded up google chrome and it works fine...hum??? i really like and recommend mozilla firefox. this problem needs to be addressed by firefox and fixed instead of passing it off as a user problem..

Have tried those few things that seem to be still applicable to version 11 (as you will know it is not being maintained and stops at version 8).
However, I don't understand what is meant by "sometimes deleting it's saved preferences and registry entries fixes the problem. To do that see these Adobe Tech. notes." Unfortunately the link goes to a page which no longer exists. I guess that rather than "deleting" the saved preferences the author means re-setting to default ? "Deleting registry entries" is a task which should, as I understand it, only be done by those with a high degree of expertise. I am not one of them !
Any comment you have will be gratefully received.
