Keyboard Switching in RemoteApp

Hi,
My situation is this:
I publish a word processor via RemoteApp. Users from several different territories connect to the this application and therefore I need them to be able to use their native keyboard layout (the server has US English as the default as well as the other required
layouts set up). When the users connect to RemoteApp they are forced to use US English regardless of the local layout, additionally the language bar is not available for them to be able to change layout.
How do I make this work?
Regards
Phil

Hi Phil,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
While you do have multiple languages installed on the client, only the currently selected language is added to the languages available in the remote session. Any additional languages will have to be added from the server (you may have to log on via Remote
Desktop Connection to do this if the remote language bar won't show for you in RemoteApp).(Quoted from below link)
More information:
TS RemoteApp - Change keyboards
- do you see both English keyboard and the hebrew keyboards (intl.cpl->keyboards and languages->change keyboards), or do you only see English?
- what happens if you add hebrew/another language here now, while in the remote session. Does the LB show up?
- does the same remote user get the language bar consistently if he starts a remote desktop instead of a remote App session.(Quoted from below link)

  • Monitor & Keyboard switcher

    Hi,
Please could someone help me to find a compatible monitor and keyboard switcher to use it as Sun consoles (two SunFire 280R)... The main requirement is that don't cause any problem if the consoles are running XWindows.
    Regards,
    Miguel

To be honest I don't know what the Disk Utility may have done, it took a couple of runs before it ran without reporting any issues.
I did also run a trial download of Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery on the drive first but it crashes after reading the drive structure.  Their unlicensed trial version can't fix anything I was just thinking it may say what was wrong at the time.  BTW, contacting Stellar support I found out that drives used for Time Machine are "not supported" - and it lets you know this by crashing, totally non-impressive.
The drive is normal 2TB spinning media (Seagate STAY2000102) not SSD.  Running the Seagate tool on the drive seems to have corrected the issue so I view this problem as resolved and it was certainly a better option than re-formatting the drive - which seems to be the most common answer for this type of issue from what I have found.

  • Ukrainian and English keyboard switching

I have a Logitech Ukrainian English Keyboard, and I have the Ukrainian language keyboard input set in my preferences. For some reason when I am typing in Ukrainian and I need to position my cursor back a space or several to fix a mistake the language defaults to English and I must manually go back and switch back to Ukrainian.
Now I also have a Apple Russian/English Keyboard and the same problem.
I type my documents in multi languages (sometimes), and it is most annoying when I switch to Russian or Ukrainian and go back to do and edit to have it default back to English.
What can I do to keep the language up until I decide to change it not the Mac???
    Thanks in advance!

On a side note: Every PC Clone shop I have visited has a zillion PC's, but they will install your software for you and for some reason you never get the disks... lol
They have tons of printers but finding the ink to replace is difficult if you are looking for Epson or HP, but if you want ColorWay or some other after market ink well no problem.
Paper? We don't have Office Depot types of stores.
PC Games or Movie DVDs? Are all pirated, or you can download them for free of the net here in Ukraine.
Finding an original un opened factory sealed copy of Windows 7 took a week of searching in my town, it was only available in Russian (not even Ukrainian which I would have preferred over Russian) the chain store had one copy of each version and Ultimate was $380 or 3000UAH.
At one of the 4 stores in Kiev (iStore) that sells Macs only, I scored iPods, Snow Lep in Russian, and Apple Keyboards all from Apple and factory sealed. They have iPads and minimal support for repair of the products they stock, so it is not so bad, but Kiev is an hour away by bus. Longer on donkey cart. NO iPhones.
So in the end, if the only real problem I have ever had with any of my Macs is the stupid keyboard switching back and forth on occasion, I guess I can't really complain. For all of these years they have been hassle free, two virus attacks since 1984. Two actual hardware failures since 1984 ... I buy new iMacs when I feel the need to go shopping or something looks just too good to pass up.
My internet DSL Line is about as slow as a dead cow dragging a dead elephant up a 50% grade hill. My actual telephone lines were laid by the Soviets over 40 years ago. I make my own vodka!
Thanks for your help!!! It was much appreciated.

  • Are there KM switches, not KVM? I need just mouse/keyboard switcher

I bought a $60 Belkin KVM, and it does not work with my Mac. I have a Quicksilver, and a newer PC. The PC works fine, the mac keyboard works on it, and the Kensington mouse works fine. I switch it to the mac, and it can see neither the keyboard or the mouse.
I left the VGA cables dangling, as my monitor has 2 inputs, which allows me to use the DVI on the mac, and the vga on the PC.
Do KVM switches HAVE to have the V part hooked up?
Has anyone seen a USB keyboard/mouse only switcher?

The switch should work without video. If the mouse and keyboard work when plugged into the Mac, but not through the switch, the switch, or the USB cable from the switch to the Mac, is bad. Try a different USB cable. If that doesn't help call Belkin.
You can buy USB only switches, such as
    <http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=120618#>
Be sure to get the right kind, one flat socket for the keyboard/mouse, and two square sockets, one for each computer.

  • My keyboard switches languages while I'm typing...

I only have two languages set as keyboards (British and German) but when I´m typing with the British keyboard, it switches to German.
Not the most frustrating problem, but it´s a bit aggravating to find out you´ve been typing things like -Reallz_ thatäs so neatö Iäll have to trz it sometime-.....
    Any suggestions?

You might try to see whether or not you have key commands set up that allow the computer to move from the one language to the other.  In other words, look under the System Preferences at the Keyboard settings.  Under the section titled Keyboard and Text Input, you will see check boxes for "Select the previous input source" and "Select the next input source".  To the right of these lines are the key combinations that allow you to change the language of the keyboard.  If you use the key combination for either of these two items, you will change the language.  It can be easy to do this accidentally in typing.  Either uncheck these two items so that keystrokes do not activate an unwanted language, or highlight the keystrokes next to the checked items and then put in a key combination that you will only hit purposefully, such first hold down the three keys for shift, control, command simultaneously and then hit the = key.  Such a key combination of four keys is probably unlikely to be hit accidently while typing.  My setting for "Select the previous input source" is set to option and space, but I find I sometimes bump this combination while typing, and I think the default for OS X is command and the space bar, which might be even worse.

  • Keyboard switching (backlit)

i am wondering if the powerbook keys are the same size as my ibook 14" keyboard. I would like to switch out the keys for backlit ones, and figure out later how i will attatch the internal usb for power to the lights.
also if not the keys, what about the whole backlit keyboard? or aftermarket ones that are par with the powerbook kind.
    thank you
    adam

sorry, but thats not the question, i am wondering about powerbook key size and ibook key size, because the unit may not fit, but the keys are all individual. which means if i can solve that part of this issue by switching individual keys out, than i can figure out the backlighting after the fact, theres plenty of extra juice i can wire to the light. do you know about the key sizes, i know how unsuccesful people have been with this problem, but im trying a diff route.
thank you though for a response

  • Keyboard switch between different languages

Does anyone know if the BB10 keyboard will feature an easy switch between different languages that will preserve the anticipation of words used frequently/etc?

That's great - thanks a lot. Is that a basic feature? Is there a list of languages (if one is looking for one with less circulation)?
yes, it is a basic feature. I frequently switch from French to English and no problem, it is almost magical.
Languages I have on my Z10 (sorry if I make typos, I have not found a page with the list correctly written)
Arabic (I don't know which, but it is from right to left)
    Catalan
    Cestina
    Dransk
    Deutch
    Greek
    English UK
    English
    Espanol
    Euskara
    Suomi
    Français
    Galego
    Hebrew
    Hrvatski
    Magyar
    Bahasa Infonesia
    Italiano
    Norsk
    Nederlands
    Portugues (Brasil)
    Portugues (Europeu)
    Polski
    Romana
    Russian
    Svenska
    Thai
    Tiêng Viêt
    Türkçe
    Chinese (simplified)
    Chinese (traditional)
    as you can see:
Japanese is lacking, because BlackBerry has decided to not sell the Z10 in Japan (they currently have a 0.3 marketshare, the market is mainly dominated by local brand like Sony or Anycall)
This time, RIM did things right and Arabic & Chinese are available from day 1

  • Keyboard switches characters to other keys

    Hello!
I have a problem with my Macbook that's kinda irritating. In the internet world, often when you login, you use the @ symbol. All of a sudden after I connected and tried my new 6GV2 SteelSeries keybord, the ™ and @ switched places. I have no idea what happened. The problem is not very critical, only irritating.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

The last what I can think of, its specific settings under Input source.
Go System preferences > Keyboard > Input source
Click on "+" and try to play with different keyboard Layout. As you can see on this screenshot there is keyboard Layouts where "Q" "W" and "E" replaced with different symbols.

  • Easy keyboard switching

Hi, I have arch with lxde, and I am trying to switch to dvorak keyboard.
Is there a simple easy way of switching keyboard layout, that does not require manually editing xorg files and restarting the x server?
I was hoping I could use the "Keyboard layout swicher" in the lxpanel, but I don't know how to add (or where I should) a new keyboard layout with dvorak variant.
Thanks to anyone who has some advice for me.
PS: Sorry if my English is bad, I try the best I can.

I use a bash script called by a launcher on my panel:
    if setxkbmap -query |grep -q "us$"
    then
    setxkbmap carpalx
    else
    setxkbmap us
    fi
    I also have some aliases:
    alias asdf='setxkbmap carpalx'
    alias dstn='setxkbmap us'
(asdf are left hand home keys in us layout, dstn are left hand home keys in carpalx layout)
Of course, now I've fully switched to carpalx I really need to make it the default.

  • Keyboard switching

I have an applet with two textfileds for english and german inputs. I want
to switch the keyboard (german and english) when i change the textfield.
Is it possibel? How can i do it?

    Hi,
I am guessing that this will depend on your operating system. I am using Windows 98. In Windows 98 one changes the keyboard mapping by making a choice at the operating system level. I discovered that the text field in my java application keeps the keyboard that was active when the java program was resumed. I am able to switch between two copies of the java program, one of which was launched when English was active, one that was launched when Russian was active, and when a different text field window requests the focus, the keyboard mapping changes.
However, I have not been able to change the keyboard mapping associated with a particular text field once the program is executing. If I were you I would look into JNI.
Also, you're talking about an applet not an application which presumably changes completely the mechanism that selects keyboard mappings.
This probably doesn't help much, but good luck anyway. Hopefully someone else can add suggestions?
    Regards,
    Joe

  • Keyboard switching while updating software ....

    Hello,
My password was refused when autorizing the installation of the OS X 10.4.3 update (but I could close and open a session without problem). After searching for a clue, I discovered that the mapping of my keyboard was different when I was in the autorisation window. After discovering what was the new mapping, I entered my password and I could install the update.
This picture will be simpler to understand :
    http://pages.infinit.net/accueil/coprem/pages/divers/keyboards.jpg
That page shows what happens to my keyboard when authorizing the update of the system softwares. In the upper keyboard layout you see my normal keyboard before the autorisation window appears. In the other one you see how the keyboard changes when the autorisation window appears. The keyboard changes to a DVORAK keyboard. So when I press an «r» I get a «p» and so on. I tried a few different keyboard layout (american, canadian, french canadian, etc ....) and this behaviour repeats. When closing the autorisation window, the keyboard reset itself to my normal keyboard.
Voodoo ??? Can somebody help me with this one ???

  • How do I put a space between numbers without the keyboard switching to ABC?

Using the onscreen keyboard on the iPhone or iPad I often need to write a telephone number.  I like to separate the area code from the rest of the number, and also write out phone numbers as XXX XXXX, with a space in the middle--but if I hit Space, the keyboard changes to ABC and I have to tap again to change back to 123 (Numbers) to finish the phone number--not a world shaking problem but a nuisance when you have to do it over and over.  Is there a fix for this?---an example of something that is supposed to make your work easier, working against you. Thanks.

Although hyphens are commonly used in the formatting of US phone numbers, they are never used when formatting UK phone numbers. It just wouldn't look 'right' to use them in a UK number and could even confuse readers.

  • T430 Keyboard switch

    Hello everyone,
I am considering purchasing the t430. The only problem I have is that I live in Canada and I would like to get the French AZERTY keyboard instead of the french acnor or the french canadian QWERTY keyboard on it. Does anybody know if it is possible to order it with the french keyboard in canada? Or can i buy the t430 and then take it to someone to replace the keyboard?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Nero1,
From my data base search I can't see any part or fru number for a keyboard of the type you want. I would recommand talking to sales and seeing what they can do for you. If you could post back and let me know how it went that would be great.
    Best Regards,

  • Keyboard switched to English

    Hey,
this morning, I turned my ibook on and the keyboard was english. The letters changed a bit, y is the z and the other way round and the question mark ? isn't where it should be. So a total change from a german to an english keyboard.
I had a look at the settings, but there wasn't anything I could have chosen to change it.
    Hope somebody can help me.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
If you have more than one input language check marked in System Preferences>International, the key combination of command+space toggles between them. You can turn it off by clicking on Options in International preferences.
