  • New Ipad 2 32gb Screen has a mind of its own!!!!

Hi, i got a ipad 2 32gb today and sometimes the screen seems to have a mind of its own. It switches randomly between different pages without me touching it, I have tried a rstore but it is still doing it. Just wondered if anyone else is having or has had this problem?????

Well that certainly isn't good. One thing I would suggest if you haven't tried already is calibrating the screen. Menu>Settings & Tools>Touch Settings>Calibration. This helps mostly if you are having issues with the screen thinking you are pressing a different part of the screen, but doesn't hurt to try. Also, make sure you have the current software version VX11VKV11. You can check by going to Settings & Tools> Phone Info>SW Version. If you have an older version choose software update. If you are still having issues, then this is a hardware issue and the phone will need to be replaced.

  • Jumpy slow mouse and keyboard that has a mind of its own

    Hi Folks
Please bear with me, I am not a computer geek but a mature lady who opted for a mac years ago and now has a mac family!
My current imac is running on OS X 10.5.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB Memory
Over the past few months if I leave my mac on overnight (as I usually do),  soon enough the mouse starts jumping and is irratic so I find I can't land on anything to open or shut it down.  The keyboard also becomes possessed with a will of its own.
My son was the one who got me onto a mac as he said they don't get viruses (but that was some 12 years ago with my first one).
I did download Mackeeper 2012 which said I was critical at every stage and I tried rectiving it with mackeeper but it said I had done what I could with the free trial version so I was going to pay for it and thought hey.... just check out the reviews etc and because the Mac experts didn't give it a good rating and said it was crap I sent it to trash.
Any ideas on what my problem is and please bear in mind that I'm not an expert, can bake a cake but lost with computers.
    Many thanks
    Mel

    Hello Mel,
I have no idea how they can get away with advertising MacKeeper at all.
You really really need to uninstall it, but not using their uninstaller.
    Klaus1's great post on MacKeeper...

  • My phone has a mind of its own, can someone please help me?

    Hello,
I bought an iphone 5 and its only one month old. I noticed during a skype call that it kept activating Siri all on its own, which interrupted my call. It also signs out of my apps while I use them, moves the screen up and down, left and right, and continously brings up Siri... ALL ON ITS OWN. When I disabled Siri, it instead activated voice control, which made the problem worse since it started to now CALL PEOPLE and PLAY music purely by itself. This is a real concern to me and it has me very upset. It's a brand new phone.
    Things I have done:
    The restart, reset and restore.
Taken it in to an apple store to see what can be done. (They had no suggestions because it decided to work well in the apple store)
Taken it to phone repair places.
I'm from Trinidad and going to England where the phone was bought is not the easiest thing to do. But before I go back there to try to exchange the phone, is there ANYTHING I can do? Does anyone else have this problem?
    Help would be appreciated
    Thank you.

    Hello Brian,
In the end I called Apple myself and gave them my information such as the serial number, order number, IMEI etc and they made a case file out of it, I shipped it to the UK from my home in Trinidad and they DID identify a problem with the home button. Truth and in fact, that may or may not solve the problem, but they're supposed to be fixing it and I will receive it soon.
The Apple Techs were really very helpful and they didn't make me seem crazy, but before you call them, make sure you wipe your phone out (restore it to factory settings) and DO NOT backup from the cloud after you're done. They will tell you that's the problem, when in fact, it isn't.

  • Acer C720 has a mind of its own, not working properly

https://youtu.be/Zt8GYXkoSk0 The above link will take you to a video I took of my Chromebook acting bananas. When I go to use Chrome, the computer will act on its own. It will refresh pages, go back in history, go forward, go back a few pages, even goes to a new site. Even when I close the window, it will open a new window and go all nuts again. You will see me here trying to go to extensions to see if something malicious somehow installed itself, but Chrome keeps closing the drop down menu, or backing out of the page. Or it clicks links I am not selecting. I've tried disabling all extensions in case one of them was the culprit, but that was not helping. After the first time or two this happened, I power washed my machine, brought it back to factory settings. This has then happened again after the powerwash. This has been happening for a few days. Sometimes it doesn't happen, and other times it does. When it does, nothing stops it besides shutting down the machine, but that can't be the only solution. Any help would be appreciated.

    mancocapac,
    Give these steps a try.

  • Blackberry keypad now has a mind of its own

I managed to completely let my curve run out of battery so after finally getting it to turn back on after 15 hours of charging the keypad now has a mind of it's own and pressing one button results in a hell of a lot of characters popping up. Also unhelpful that when i press the backspace it sends instead. Help please?

  • My iphone 5s has a mind of its own. why?

my iphone 5s is out of control. everytime i use to it send messages or anything it just starts typing on its own, opening apps, one second im on imessage then suddenly im in the music app. and like today i wanted to send a message while in class. and the phone started going crazy again and it opened the music app and played music, it was embrassing.
i cant use it without it losing control everytime, sending messages that arent even finished. this happened a week after purchasing the phone. and its been going on for 3 days now non-stop, i restored, hard reset, started from scratch. nothing seems to help.
there are  two other things ive noticed  in my phone :
    1. first there are four vertical lines on the right side of my phone, 2 blue and 2 red (blue, red, blue, red). they arent easily noticble unless you have a black backround. they were there from the first day i got the phone. it didnt bother me much really because its not so showy.
    2. second when my phones goes crazy typing things and opening apps and all that. its mostly from the right side. the same area where those line are.
i hope this can tell me whats the problem...

If a cold reset of the iPhone does not sort out both the control and screen issues, the iPhone is up for return in the nearest Apple Store. Apple should replace the device for you free of charge.

  • Xperia Z1 has a mind of its own!! Please help

Hello, So it all started yesterday, I had begun my usual charge and unplugged it to find that my phone was moving the screen by itself as well as opening applications without my assistance. If I click on the screen it doesn't register it and will choose its own options. It's not usuable and it's  so frustrating!  I spoke to o2 and they told me to send it in, but I'd like to know if there is anything I can do before doing that, as I don't want to be without my phone and I don't trust the transit....please help!  - I've turned the phone off and on, removed the sim card and did a factory restore...

also ive tried 10 time plus and only got through to nokia once and then they cut me off .
please help if anyone has any advice.

Souns like your touchscreen may need calibrating.
    To calibrate your touch screen:
    Menu->Settings->Phone->Touch Input->Touch screen calibration
Then follow the instructions on the screen.
It's not surprising that you didn't notice this setting because it is last on the list in the Touch input section and you have to scroll down to see it.
After you calibrate your screen, see if you continue to have problems.

  • Very odd Airport issue airport has a mind of its own...

Ok so hopefully I have gotten your attention. As of 3 days ago my Macbook Pro (which has always connected to the internet through my Airport Extreme with the signal boosted by an Airport Express) so I am online reading email when I attempt to open a new page and my internet dies. I look at my other computer (Macbook not pro) sitting next to me and it is connected to the network just fine. So I go to connect to the internet again and I can see my network and yet every time I try to connect I get a message saying "error couldnt connect" or something similar to that. Then I went to make sure my settings werent changed and they weren't. So I ran a diagnostic to make sure that nothing was wrong settings-wise. And when I get to the step where I need to choose the network I want to connect to it asks for my password (been using same one for years) and I input it and it tells me the password is incorrect. Then I try it again, and again im told the password is incorrect, no caps are on im spelling it right, basically I am faultless. Then after a number of restarts and frustrated hours, out of nowhere it connects again.
So then two nights ago I am online I pick up my laptop from my bed and walk to the room next door and start to use my computer in the next room to show a friend something. I walk back into my room with the laptop and 8 minutes later the same internet issue occurs again. I try everything, the password isnt accepted anymore and then a couple of hours later it works.
So then tonight I am writing a paper and the same stupid thing happens again. This time after 3 restarts I get back online but it is still very very frustrating and I have no clue what is wrong
If anyone has any advice PLEASE im all ears

    Welcome to the discussions!
The fact that things improved a bit with Interference Robustness is probably a major clue that you are experiencing wireless interference issues at your new location.
The most common cause of interference problems in a home are cordless phones, which typically operate at the same frequency as wireless networks. You need to power off the phones and their base stations / cradles for a few hours to see if you notice any improvement in the performance of your wireless network. If you do, you need to try different positions for the phones.
Please post back on your findings to take the next possible steps in identifying the probable interference issue there.

  • My iPod has a mind of its own. When it doesn't want to play, it stops.

I am on my 2nd iPod in 5 months. The first was replaced b/c of defective video. No prob. The replacement has been plagued with frequent but random episodes of simply pausing. The iPod will be playing just fine and dandy, at perfect rest on the table or bed or at my desk at work, when all of a sudden it just stops playing, and I have to un-pause it so that it starts playing again. How often does this occur? It is completely unpredictable, completely random, without neither rhyme nor reason. Sometimes it will pause, I'll start it again only to have it pause a couple of seconds later. Sometimes I go through this routine two or three times in a row within a matter of 15 seconds. Sometimes it only pauses once per day. Sometimes it pauses 5, 10, maybe 15 times a day. Conversely, some days it never pauses.
I sent the iPod in after putting up with extreme inconvenience but only after I performed everything known to resolve such issues: restoring, updating, testing out particular songs, changing out headsets frequently and other troubleshooting exercises ad nauseam. I received the iPod back with the indication that "no problems were found," and the replacement unit I sent in was sent back to me. The only thing Apple Support did was to restore it, which I have already done twice. The darn thing still does exactly what it has been doing... pausing at will as often as it pretty well pleases.
I'm getting quite ill with this thing, and it doesn't help that they sent the original one back (again, my replacement iPod was sent back). I quite understand why the support team indicated that it passed diagnostics, but it is only because the device chose not to act up when they had it in their possession. It is perfectly logical that it worked flawlessly while they were testing it, only to start freaking out once it arrived back home. This scenario is liken unto the one in which you take your car to the mechanic b/c it's not working properly. It works when they have it in their shop... works as designed, but when you get it home (or drive it down the road) it starts doing the same thing. It's a gremlin that seems to be quite elusive.
I'm posting this in hopes that others have experienced the same thing, and I can learn from their experience. I'll send this thing again, but if the device still continues to operate, in Apple Support's words, "within Apple's specifications for acceptable performance, usability and/or functionality...", I'll raise this issue to ANYONE who will listen. I purchased the warranty and I would expect that Apple stand behind it, or what good is a warranty if it will not be upheld?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Problems editing with iPhoto 6 - modified file has a mind of its own. Help!

I have been working through info posted re difficulties storing edits. My modified file (once I eventually found it) appears to simply duplicate originals. Recent attempts show that edits are now being stored as ThumbJPGSegment data. Attempts to open these show 'unreadable file'. 'Could not be imported as the file is in the iPhoto library folder'. What on earth does this mean, and am I doing wrong? I have wasted a day trying to sort this out.
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iLife 06

    Posey:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The library6.iPhoto file is just the database that keeps track of the photos, edits, books, etc. that is in the library. You edited version of that photo will be located in the Modified folder's subfolder for the roll that the photo is in. The thumbs file is the thumbnail version data base. Those are all library overhead files.
As PhillyPhan warned: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. We can emphasize that too much.
If you're doing sharpening it's a know issues that it's nearly impossible to see the effects of sharpening unless you in the separate edit window and viewing at 100%. Otherwise the antialiasing that iPhoto does on the images will smooth out the sharpening that you've applied. If it's other types of edits, i.e. crops, red eye removal then find one of the files you've done that to in the Modified folder and open it with Preview or drag into an open Safari window to view the photo and see if the edit was actually saved.
