Keyboard too slow on brand new Satellite C650-179

I got a brand new C650-179 where I have problems with the keyboard.
Basic facts:
Win 7 Home Premium
4 GB RAM
No software additional software installed yet
My problem is mostly related to the n key but also sometimes d key. If I press n slowly with one sec pause there is no problem, but if press n fast it types n and jumps back one step left and sometimes only jumps one step to the left. Similar thing seems to be with my d character, it radomly types z instead of d.
Do anyone know a possible reason for this behaviour except hardware error?
Cheers

I am experiencing the same problem with a brand new C650-15L (allthough other keys). My unit just came back from RMA Toshiba, they replaced the keyboard. The RMA sheet indicates the technician did some test and everything should be OK.
But NOTHING is OK! The same problem still persists. I tried a boot CD and the same problem is there, so it is possibly a controller problem.
This is really disappointing RMA service how did they possibly test the unit without noticing that the problem was still there...
I am now trying the battery-out method described above before contacting support once again.

  • Sleeping issue on brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX

    Hi Guys,
    I've got a brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX with Windows 7 64bit.
The laptop is having some issues with its sleep function. I am wondering if others have had the same problem - and if anyone knows anything that can be done.
    OK there are two issues;
    1. when the laptop enters sleep mode - it will come out of it on its own after some time. it goes to the login screen and wait for about another hour before going back to sleep. This is while plugged into power - and no LAN.
    2. When I close the lid to put the laptop to sleep - and while on the battery - after some time it will not power up at all. Plugging in the power will not do anything at all - the power light will not come on at all - suggesting the laptop does not even notice being plugged. I then have to take out the battery and switch the computer on (thereby losing any data I had when I put the computer to sleep!!).
So, have you seen this problem with your satellite pro's? Is it something common and to be ignored - or is there an easy solution to it?
    Thanks in advance.
    - Audette

I have actually updated the BIOS to the latest - one of the first things done when I got the laptop.
And, yes I do have the pre-installed OS that came with toshiba.
One thing I did notice is, if I have the laptop in standby and switch the laptop on again whilst in battery mode, then it will power up. But if I take out the power and plug in power before powering the laptop on- then it will not power up at all!!! Thereby, I have to take the battery out and put back in to get it to work. wierd huh??!!

  • Brand new Satellite C50-A -02T No Track Pad Response

    Hello;      Just took a brand new Satellite C50-A -02T (PSCF6C-02T002) out of the box and the trackpad does not work.  Windows 8 OS.  Hooked up an external mouse and; Updated the trackpad drivers from the Toshiba site, no luck.Updated windows, no luck.Updated to windows 8.1, no luck.Googled the issue and tried the 'pull battery, press power button, replace battery, press f2...' but it just boots back to windows, does not go into the bios...I bought 2 of these on clearance after christmas and have been using one with no issue since then.  My parents need a new laptop so I pulled this one out and was going to set it up for them but cannot get the bloody track pad to work. Any help out there? Thanks;

Just to add a couple things: CANNOT get into the BIOS after pulling the battery and holding the power button.  It ignores my attempt (have tried 6 times) and can get into the bios any other time I try. When I go into the control panel and click on mouse it tells me 'Unable to connect to the synaptics Pointing Device Driver'  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now with no success. It does not show up in the device driver list.About to take the nuclear option and reinstall windows...

    Hi,
I bought brand new Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1EK on 18/04/2014.
I unboxed my computer and i have "small issue" with keyboard.
It's really hard to push "g" and "h" actually those buttons working only when im pushing them hard.
Is it a reason to go to shop with warranty card or can I fix it myself?
    Thaks for reply.

    >It's really hard to push "g" and "h" actually those buttons working only when im pushing them hard.
    This is hardware related issue.
Either you would contact the dealer and would try to get the notebook replaced or you would contact the Toshiba authorized service provider available in your country to replace the keyboard.

  • Slow performance, brand new iMac!

    Hello!
First, excuse my rusty English.. I hope you manage to read it
Main problem.. Adobe, PhaseOne and other intensive applications is veeeery slow on a high specced brand new iMac! Lightroom 5, PS CC and Capture One Pro 7 is what I use mostly.
I just got my brand new iMac 2014.2 (3.5/3.9 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 512GB flash disk and GTX780M), and its quite a lot slower than my other Win7 workstation. Other workstation specs: i7 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, GTX 580. I'm working on the same Raid-5 drive (USB-3) too, so I don't know why it's slower..
    What I experience:
Changing from "current" raw to next raw (while culling) takes several seconds, and my Raid-5 is done chewing long before I see the result on my monitor. I get the spinning beach ball while waiting for preview. I always render 1:1 on import and 1:1+standard size in menu, just to be sure. Adjustment brush is like dodging in PS v1.0 (NOT CS) when computers had less disk-space than we have cpu-cache today, awfully slow, and it "stutters". Moving/panning in 1:1 is very choppy, and sometimes I get the spinning beach ball while panning.. This happens in LR and CO.. Photoshop CC stutters or have to "think" when I try panning. These problems happens in 6 Mpix, 12 Mpix or 25 Mpix RAW files, and actually in some JPEGs too!
    I have done following:
I've tried 2003 and 2010 processing in LR, small change. Fixed permissions in OS X. Removed preferences for LR, CO and PS CC. Reinstalled LR/cloud apps and Capture One Pro 7. Increased camera raw cache from 15 to 50 GB. Followed Adobe's guide to make LR faster. Followed Capture One guides. Reinstalled (clean install) of OS X. I've tried all tips I could find in the forums around.. I have also tried placing RAW files on internal 512 GB disk to see if that helps on performance, but no change. Same story with camera raw cache, doesn't matter where it is.
Additional things.. I’ve also diagnosed the iMac with checkdisk, memcheck, logs, etc.. No problems as far as I can see.
I just changed my workflow from Win to OS X and I depend on this to work.. I currently have 4000 files from my last job waiting to be worked on, and I'm not finished until Christmas in this tempo :-(
If I can't get this working very soon, then I have to return this very expensive iMac and buy a new PC again..

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

  • Adobe reader really slow on brand new Core-i7 machine

Opening of a PDFs is very very slow on my brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine. Machine is a new Core-i7  system with 16Gb Memory
PDF's which open on other much older pc's within a second take 20-30 seconds on this new machine.
The machine has a Radeon R260 Graphics card which was used in the previous machine with no issues. Just to be sure I have removed the card and used the on-board graphics to try to eliminate the card but the problem is exactly the same so must be windows related.
Reader has been uninstalled and re-installed with no Joy.
The rendering of the image is a problem as when zooming or panning the image again redraws very slowly (20-30 seconds) each time.
    PC is otherwise very fast.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks
    VS

    Hi VS2015,
Have you noticed this issue with any other program too or just with Adobe Reader?
How much on-board graphics memory do you have on your system?
Moreover, As you had mentioned that "The rendering of the image is a problem as when zooming or panning the image again redraws very slowly (20-30 seconds) each time." I would recommend you to Update your Video Driver from Device manager option in Control Panel.
    Regards,

  • PP5.5 very slow on brand new iMac

I have seen a number of threads similar to this, but none have been helpful.
I purchased a brand new 21.5" iMac late last year.
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I installed CS5.5, and found it to be pretty slow. So I got some more RAM. I now hav 12GB of RAM. I saw an improvement, but it's still really slow. Premiere is the worst. When I press play, even on low-res video footage, it often takes a couple seconds to start playing.
I clicked Project Settings, and for Renderer, the "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" option is grayed out.
I looked at some threads... and apparently I have to manually set a graphics card or something like that? I know nothing about that.
I have finally had enough of this. Very frusterating. I was sold in PP5.5's speed, and it has been extremely slow.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Basically, there is nothing that you can do with that 2011 iMac. Upgrading to CS6 still would not have allowed you to enable GPU acceleration: OpenCL GPU acceleration only works if the GPU has 1GB or more dedicated RAM (and officially, CS6 for MacOS only supports Macbook Pros, not iMacs, with the HD 6750M or HD 6770M and 1GB or more dedicated graphics RAM for OpenCL GPU acceleration on AMD GPUs). Your iMac's GPU has only 512MB of dedicated RAM, as I mentioned. That's too little RAM to even allow the enabling of the GPU acceleration in CS6.
As for the addition of the Thunderbolt external hard drive, that would still gain some improvement in performance, especially since your iMac is bottlenecked by the use of only a single disk (the OS disk for absolutely everything). The iMac's internal hard drive uses a SATA interface like Windows PCs use - and a single SATA connection can only pass data in one direction at a time (this is what I meant by "half-duplex"); a block of transfers in one direction (either read or write) must be completed before any transfers start moving in the opposite direction. And most video editing tasks require simultaneous transfers in both directions on a disk interface (which a single SATA connection cannot perform; this is why we often needed two or more disks).

  • Garageband 10 mega slow on brand new Macbook

Garageband is driving me crazy. I am getting that rainbow beach ball of death cursor things endlessly, for practically every selection I make. For example, selecting and editing a note in the piano roll takes at least 15 seconds each time, not to mention moving things around/deleting/copying etc.
I addressed the most obvious solution by increasing my RAM from 4GB to 8GB, but it hasn't helped. When I start up the computer and Garageband, the software works ok for about 30 minutes, but then the beach ball thing starts getting increasingly worse to the point I'm driven to distraction with the slowness. These are not complex tracks (I created much larger ones on my old machine and Garageband 08), and I don't have countless other apps runnning at the same time.
I don't want to have to keep shutting down after only 30 minutes of work in order to rectify the problem, and I am concerned as to why this is happening on a new computer. It is a 2012 13" model I bought from the Apple store, but it was still a brand new machine and I would have expected it to run Garageband without any problems.
    Any help, greatly appreciated!

    "the beach ball thing starts..."
I've started to get this lately too.  But I'm new to the app, and was thinking it just chokes when tracks get up to around 15 in number, with a bunch of Safari windows open in the background.  But maybe there is something else going on...like maybe a software bug whereby the application program progressively eats up memory, the longer it stays open?

  • Wireless slow on brand new Macbook

I have a brand new MB 2.2 and the wireless is horrible. I have tried a Linksys and Netgear router and the connection is worse then dial-up. I have a Vista laptop also and it works great on both of these routers. I also live in a apartment building and have access to other open routers including Apple Airports and the are slow also.
I have been reading the boards and the problem seems to be all over the map. I have tried every fix possible that I could find to try and speed things up, and none of them work.
I am at the point where I want to return the laptop as there seems to be no fix for this. If I wanted to return the laptop that I bought at a Apple store, will they still charge me the restocking fee? Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem with my BRAND NEW MacBook. I have all of the updates installed and I still have this problem. I will look at the AirPort status in the menu bar and it will have all but one "bar/arc" and my download speeds are painfully slow. I have performed a ping (both outside my local network and to my local gateway) and I get 60% or more packet loss. If I reboot the computer, the download speeds are good but after a little while they crap out again. My wife has the 1st generation MacBook running Tiger and she has absolutely no problems whatsoever. It wasn't like this when I first got the computer and had just 10.5 installed. I don't even believe that I had the problem when I installed the 10.5.1 update. It seems to have reared its ugly head with the 10.5.2 update but I can't be 100% sure. Tonight, I plan on zapping the PRAM and running the disk repair utility but I don't feel too confident that it will help. My next step will be to head to my "local" Apple Store (about 1.5 hours away) and see what a Genius says about it.
Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody have a grand solution that will fix this problem?
    Thanks to all for reading.

you probably have your buffer settings too low. in audio hardware and drivers, you should set your buffer to something like 256 or 512 and see if that improves matters.
the next thing you should do is not record at 192kHz. there are very very few conditions under which working at such obscurely high sample rates are worthwhile and will make a valid positive impact on your work. anything short of working in a top level studio with top notch everything, it's just not worth the trouble.

  • ITunes downloads fast on old Mac mini but slow on brand new Macbook Pro on the same WiFi network?

    Hi all,
I have an old Mac mini that's from around 2008 and runs on Snow Leopard. I also have a brand new Macbook Pro with retina display that's running Mountain Lion. Both running iTunes 10.6.3.
I never noticed anything wrong with my MBP's connection speed until last night when I downloaded a free TV episode from iTunes. The download speed varied between 20KB/s and 40KB/s and it took me 7 to 8 hours to download a single episode. I checked my internet connection but there was nothing wrong with it, SpeedTest.net told me I had a download speed of 94MB/s and upload speed of 80MB/s, it was only iTunes that was unbearably slow.
Today I was browsing iTunes again and was planning to buy some movies, but again it took forever for the trailers to download. So I fired up my Mac mini just to see if it would be just as slow. Turned out my Mac mini could download the same trailers from iTunes at a much higher speed than my MBP (around 3MB/s on the ones I tested).
So what gives? They are on the same Wifi network provided by an Airport Extreme, and although my iPhone and iPad are also connected to it, no one else is doing any heavy duty downloading.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Itunes 9.1 very slow on brand new laptop.

After installing itunes 9.1.1 on a brand new sony vaio f-series laptop, it is extremely slow. It plays music normally, but when anything else is done (right clicking to edit, selecting anything from the toolbar such as File, edit, etc.) itunes responds very slowly. It takes over thirty seconds for any menu to appear after clicking. Sometimes itunes locks up completely forcing me end the process through Task Manager. Also, Home Sharing does now work on this particular computer. Other computers within the network work fine, but when Home Sharing is activated on this machine, the icon for Home Sharing disappears as soon as I log in. The other computer can see it and each other, but this computer can't see the other computers.

Update: I've discovered on this forum that the problem may be with Sony's media manager scanning my library (currently around 3,000 songs). Has this been confirmed?

  • Time machine incredibly slow on brand new macbook pro

    Hello everyone,
I bought a new Macbook pro 8Gb Ram dual core 2.8 GHz in late February of this year. Initially, the Time-machine back-ups worked very well and fast but on April 19 (shortly after my last back up), the hard drive of the computer died. I had it changed by Apple Care (for free given the warranty), but when the computer came back, it still could not boot, being always stuck on the welcome screen. The guys at the store made a complete reinstall of Mac OS 10.7 on the new hard drive and since then everything works fine... except that now (on Lion 10.7.4) whenever I try to do a back-up with the time machine, the progression is incredibly slow. It typically progresses Kb per Kb when I have about 86Gb to back-up....
I have check with disk utility that my time-machine external hard drive is fine. Furthermore, this HD is also used as a time machine for other macs and works very well in these cases. Finally, it still has more than 500Gb available on it.
I would like to know what's going on with my macbook pro ? Why is the time machine basically not working and what can I do to change that ? I am a little worried because, as you know, having back ups is essential and right now I simply cannot do a back up my brand new computer.

    Pierre G. wrote:
Well I started this backup two hours ago and I indeed observe the backup to progress by jumps. But overall it is really slow, right now it backed up 2Gb out of 88Gb.
Yes, after a failed backup, it may appear to be very slow.  Let it run.
Also see #D2 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting, especially the green box.
I just hope the total time will not just be proportional because I don't have 86h available to do the back up.
You must (or it's already spent some time deleting old backlups).  Otherwise, it would have failed.  Besides, the message you posted earlier said there was 508 GB available.
See what the messages say; all that will be documented.
