  • While typing keyboard starts typing wrong letters

I have checked my settings for my keyboard and have changed keyboards. I can open Pagemaker 7 & start typing, all's well. Then after a while it starts typing wrong letters & I can't use my short cuts. I also tryed reloading Pagemaker 7. I have run Malwarebytes, AVG, & Spybot. I can't find anything. It is also doing the same thing In Photoshop. It doesn't do it in any other programs besides Adobe.

I thought it was setup Default input language as English (United States).I checked and there was 2 other settings under keyboard besides US. United states-Dvorak and United States international. So I removed them. Also under Advanced Key Settings and Hot keys for imput languages - Switch between input languages was set up to work. I changed this to none. So far it has worked fine. Today is my long day at work so we'll see. Do you think that was it? How would that have gotten changed? I have done some windows updates recently that caused me problems with my display.

  • Keyboard typing weird letters and symbols

    Hi all
I have tried to use my Macbook Pro this morning and when I type its typing the wrong letters
    and symbols...................can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Jo

I just spent hour trying to fix tihs on my iMac and could find the answer so I wanted to post it for someone else. Mine was typing in crazy symbols (åß∂ƒ©).
Also I could not Command + Tab (shoot me), and when I clicked on a window in another app it hid the windows I was working in.
I tried new keyboards. And the system preferences stuff - system preferences - language & text - input sources. then select US. This didn't fix it.
Then I tried to change the keyboard shortcuts in the same window - spotlight (on left), unclick the show spotlight search field and the other one bellow. Then hit the com + Spacebar. This didn't fix it.
Then i did it and double check that i did it right and still didn't fix it.
So I called apple support and they gave me the magical key to fix this.
Turn off your computer. Unplug for 30 sec, and everything attached. Then power it back on and hurry and hold Command + Option + P + R. I held Command + Option + P with one hand and then after I hit power I added the R.
The computer will make one chime. Keep holding it. I will then shut down and make one more chime and you can let go.
    Taa daa!!
    I have a 27" iMac 2.93Ghz i7 with 10.8.2 (FYI).

  • Keyboard typing extra letters

The text that I am typing is adding additional letters!  It is not happening to every letter.  But the same letters, sometimes before it or after it.  Like this:
    t - bt
    = - =[
    y - ny
    b - bt
    n -ny
Has anybody had the same problem?
It seems like something qnuibte small, but bthis email took me 10 minutes to write!  I can't get into any emails or search easily on the internet.
    If so, please help.

When having problems of a nature that appear in multiple applications, the bios settings would be the first place to start.
If it occurs in only one application then likely a bug or some form of character substition you may have accidentally setup.  Reset progran to defaults,
Restart your machine and save you current bios settings if you can and then reset the defaults.
Once rebooting into windows, go into control panel and reset the defaults for you keyboard and make sure you nationalization setting is correct.
If you remember any type of utility that you may have loaded that might use macros, uninstall any utilities you may have installed.
Also think of all the things you tinkered with, maybe window shell script or other feature most common users don't know exists.
I am old, so I open a console window and type set to see all the environment variables setup up.  If any look odd check into them.  Make sure something has not modified your path allowing something to be used instead of what should be by default,
Reboot the machine again and see what happens.
If you still have problems, I personall would save my data,, reset the entire system hardware back to the defaults reformat my hard drive and reinstall my software paying close attention to any possible odd options requested rearding your keyboard.
But before doing that if you would like to avoid it.

  • Keys typing wrong letters and numbers?

I am using a usb wireless keyboard and i spilt a drink on it and then quickly tried to dry it off and pressed a few keys whilst wiping it, then i unplugged it, dried it some more then plugged it back in, although whenever i press the 'backspace' key, it replaces the character with a - and when typing keys like 'o' it types 'jo' and so on, and i cannot now log back in as i cannot see what is being typed by my keyboard, is it a hardware issue of did i change my keyboard settings or what? Please help!

    Buy a new keyboard.

  • Keyboard typing wrong symbols

Why is my keyboard randomly switching and typing symbols?

    Hello there, Chloe626.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great, in-depth steps for troubleshooting issues with keys not working as expected on your keyboard:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1381
    Particularly:
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane in System Preferences, then click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working.  If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly.  Use How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Keyboard typing other letters

My laptop ran out of battery and turned off. When I turned it back on, the keyboard was messed up. Most letters work fine. But some letters either dont appear when I hit the key, or hitting that key produces a string of other letters or numbers.
    Problem letters -
    r, f, sometimes s, apostophe, colon, hyphen.
when I hit f I sometimes get these-

  • While typing, the keyboard starts typing multiple letters. I'm fed up of this. I don't think I am doing something at my own, it's happening at its own. Is it because of some problem in the hardware since OS and system refresh could not resolve this.

While i type, the keyboard starts typing multiple letters. I'm fed up of this. I think it's happening at its own. Is it because of some problem in the hardware since OS and system refresh could not resolve this please help.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If you have done this like I describe above and the problem continues I suggest you contact Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and have your iPad examined by a technician.

  • What causes double letters skips and wrong letters when typing

    Os 10.9.5
Tried a new keyboard and still get skips, double letters, and wrong letters non adjacent to the intended key.

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and see if the problem persists there.  If not then reboot normally and try again.

  • Apple Bluetooth keyboard shows the wrong letters when pressed

    Hi,
My apple bluetooth keyboard shows the wrong letters when I write on it. If I press "c", the letter "d" shows on the screen instead. The bottom row of letters mimicks the row just above. I've tried unpairing and paring the keyboard again with my computer and my ipad. Same error. Tried resetting the pram and the smc and it still doesn't work. Changed the batteries in the keyboard and no change. I've removed some plist file (com.apple.BezelService) and its lock file like someone recommended in a youtube video. I've also checked the keyboard settings and can't find anything that seems weird.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it or do I have to buy a new keyboard?
    /Andreas

Before you buy a new one, take it to an Apple store (if one is near you) and have them look at it.

  • Keypad Malfunctioning - Multiple or Wrong Letters on Press - Interuptions and Wrong Words on Swype

About 2 weeks ago my keypad stopped working or at least working as intended. Might have been from the latest update I am not sure.
ISSUES WITH STANDARD PRESS AND TYPE:
    1. I tap a letter and it often types that letter 2 or more times instead of once.
    2. I tap a letter and it often types the worng letter or a whole series of wrong letters.
    ISSUES WITH SYWPE:
    1. I will be using swype and in the middle of creating a word it just stops as though I have lefted my finger up when I haven't
    2. I will swype and the word will be no where close using letter I never even came near.
Basically this happens on and off which is why I think it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue. If it was hardwear there would be a dead section or broken section of the screen. But one minute I can swype a word and the next minute I can't swype the same word. Same thing with press to type. I will press a letter and it works press it again and it won't and so on.
MY ATTEMPS TO FIX THE ISSUES:
    1. I tried powering the phone on and off.
    2. I tried turning off the phone and removing the battery.
    3. I did a factory reset.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions the only other thing I can think of is trying to get Verizon to send me a replacement which I am sure won't be easy.?

Try this:  Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Multi-touch keyboard > Clear data.  Then do the same thing for the Text messaging application.
