Keyboard under 10.4.8

Since the last update my keyboard has been a nightmare to use, I use a Belkin adapter does anybody know if the last update messed up support? To get it working I need to unplug the dongle plug it back in then turn the keyboard back on. This works great however I found a disk error today and when trying to boot from the OSX disc the keyboard must not be pairing in time which leads to OSX restarting.
If anybody has any hints on drivers (Belkin say Apple provides all support and drivers) or workabouts Id be very grateful.
p.s. I have installed the latest BT firmware from Apple support pages
Thanks for your time
Gareth

Hello Gareth:
I have no first hand knowledge, but I just read (someplace in another post) that there is an incompatibility with Belkin devices (apparently after the last security update). I suggest you contact Belkin, verify the information, and find out if they either have a fix or are working on one.

I have an iMac with Windows 7. How can I configure the  Apple numeric keyboard under Windows?

    From Apple:
Are there any Macintosh features that I should not expect to work when running Windows XP on an Intel-based Macintosh computer?
Even after installling the Macintosh Drivers CD, the Apple Remote Control (IR), Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard or mouse, Apple USB Modem, MacBook Pro's sudden motion sensor, MacBook Pro's ambient light sensor, and built-in iSight camera will not function correctly when running Windows.

  • Can't use keyboard under GDM

i installed the Xorg and make my touchpad and keyboard worked under X,

when i entered GDM ,the touchpad was working but not the keyboard.
What can i do with this?

Make sure you've got xf86-input-evdev installed.  That may help you out.  It installed as an xorg dependency on my machine, but apparently some people are missing it and have to do it manually.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard under Windows 7 pairing but not responding

    Hi all,
I'm having a strange issue getting my Apple Wireless Keyboard to run on my new HTPC under Windows 7 (64 bit). I can get Windows' bluetooth manager to detect the keyboard, and I can input the pairing code, following which Windows seems to install a bunch of drivers, but then I get no response from the keyboard at all.
The thing I find strange is that the keyboard works when I punch in the code numbers, but never before or after.
I also have a Magic Mouse which works perfectly.
Once paired and installed, the keyboard is displayed in Windows' driver manager as a "Bluetooth Peripheral Device", so I'm wondering if the issue is that Windows isn't recognising the device as a keyboard.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks heaps, in advance.

After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found the answer: Try this.
"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you. Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over..."

The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest windows update applies that stops the keyboard from working.
I'm typing this on the Apple Wireless Keyboard on Windows 7 64 bit on my PC. Finallly!

  • Keyboard under windows

Is there a tool that allows me to remap the keys on the keyboard so I can control the screen brightness with the function keys, etc. I recall reading about one recently on the forum but can't seem to find it again....any help would be appreciated.

    Hello newmac,
If you want to use key combination in Windows XP under Boot Camp, you can download Resource Kit Tools for WinXP and Server 2003. Here is the link from Microsoft Website:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee -b18c4790cffd&DisplayLang=en
After installing this, go to Start>Run and type "remapkey" (without quotation). This will open up another windows in which you will be able to customize the key's funtions according to what you want.
    Hope this helps,
    James

  • Errors on French virtual keyboards under ios6

    Hello,
There is a very annoying error on the French virtual keyboards for the ipad under ios6  - when you hit the .?123 button it shows the pound (£) sign rather than the euro [€]. To find the euro you have either to press and hold the pound sign, or hit the #+= button. Not at all logical, and highly impractical.
This was not the case under ios5 - the euro sign was the default on the numeric keyboard and holding it down showed other currency signs, which is how it should be. Why on earth has it been changed ?
I also wish that the numeric keyboard didn't automatically return to the alpha keyboard when you hit the spacebar. Extremely annoying when typing phone numbers for example, or if you want to type numbers followed by a space and a dash.
How can I report these problems to Apple, please ?

    hey aLicer,
did you find a solution to your problem,
I am having the exact problem but with eclipse 3.11 and Nokia prototype_2_0_S60_MIDP_Emulator
if you have found a solution can you please let me know because I really need to know as I have spent weeks on this stuiped thing ?
    thanks a lot

  • Japanese USBthin keyboard under Vista64

    Hi,
I have a 2007 MP with the thin USB keyboard. I am trying to follow the article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2587 to configure a localised keyboard layout. However, when loading the existing keyboard drivers, there is no "Japanese (Apple)" in the list. I get other languages whith the "(Apple)" moniker which should tell me that the Apple Keyboard Driver was installed correctly. I am using latest Boot Camp drivers which updated my original 2.0.1 drivers. Since the Japanese keyboard incorporates a few more keys as other layouts, I can't use the default keyboard options, the MS Keyboard Layout Creator provides, in order to manually create my own set.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Sincerely,
    M

    Thanks for caring

  • Use numeric keypad in older "full" Apple keyboard under Bootcamp

I have a mid 2009  iMac running the  BootCamp version 3.2 and Windows 7 Service Pack 1. It uses a plastic "full" keyboard with numeric keypad (s with the slight tilt and italicized letters on the keys).
I would like to use the numeric keypad, but cannot find a modifier key that corresponds to Alt--NumLock in Windows. Any way to do this or do I need to plug in a PC  keyboard when  booted up in Windows on  BootCamp?

    Hi,
have you tried the 'clear'-key yet ?
It's the one directly above the '7'-key in the numeric keypad area.
    Has always worked for me...
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Aluminium BT keyboard under Windows 7 64

    Hey everyone.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me a hand with this one.
Before I installed Bootcamp 3.0 drivers (bluetooth driver specifically) My keyboard worked just fine. After installing bootcamp, it stopped working at all. After few hours of tweaking I finally made it connect and pair with bluetooth, and I was being proud of myself.......for a minute only though.
Yes, keyboard is visible, but the best I could call what it does - It goes to sleep frequently. When I type without pauses, it works just fine. But as I stop, it goes to sleep: By that I mean - Windows still shows it as connected, but as I touch the keys, no reaction. It takes about 10 seconds, the pairing light goes on, and few seconds after I can use the keyboard again.
The keyboard works just fine in OS X, no issuess within those 3 years. Now magic trackpad is on the wa, so I hope this will not be the same.
I must say I am rather dissapointed with Apple's attitude in the means of drivers. Not freely downloadable, when you manage to get it somewhere somehow, they screw up your system. Also my Apple update keeps downloading the same update again and again. All together I spent 3 straight days, trying to make my hardwae work the way it should. For Windows haters: I have Win7 installed on my work notebook: No issues ever. All this is purely apple issues
    Please help

Got the exact same problem aswell, finally fed up with it now as i just started up firefox and 14 new windows opened because of this bug, luckily my computer can handle them but someone with a slower processor it would have been a nightmare, needs fixing ASAP.
Reverting back to 3.6.3 until this issue is solved. (link for anyone wanting to do the same below)

  • My laptop becomes extremely hot in the top left hand corner of the keyboard under the on/off switch.

The underside of the laptop becomes very hot soon after start up and does not cool down while in use. This makes it impossible to use as a 'laptop'. I am concerned that it is also causing damage.
Please let me know what needs to be done to resolve this.

Model of laptop, please. How old is it?

  • Italian keyboard doesn't work under the gui

I have an italian keyboard on a x86 Solaris 10 installation.
All the patch available using Sun Update applied but the keyboard doesn't work, it still works only as a USA keyboard.
Forcing it as a Italian layout at startup (pressing esc and using the boot utility) make the keyboard work in the consolle with the correct layout but under the gui, after the dtlogin startup, the key doesn't work correctly. Every key is "shifted" of one position, so inserting "root" result in "eiir"
Even applyng the 118966-08 patch as suggested doesn't work.
Obiouvsly I used the gnome panel to set the correct keyboard under gnome but with no result
Both the two type of italian keyboards don't work, the standard one and the 104 "ibm" italian layout.
All this keyboards work fine on the same PC with both WindowsXP and Linux Ubuntu.
Any suggestion to fix this ?

The solution was to reconfigure the X-Server: In a console-window I called kdmconfig and corrected the keyboard settings: it was a US-Keyboard. Nobody knows ... At installation time I configured a german keyboard.
A remaining problem is that my mouse and keyboard are connected via USB and they are frozzen after boot. First when I physicaly detach both and reconnect them they start working in an ordinary manner. I saw a forum entry which talked about BIOS-settings.

  • Apple Bluetooth keyboard not pairing under Bootcamp/Windows7

My Apple keyboard that came with MacPro1.1 does not pair when using it with BootCamp and Windows 7. I installed bootcamp and Windows7 today. My machine is running OSX 10.6.8 and Bluetooth software version 2.4.5f3. The Apple mouse pairs under Windows but the keyboard doesn't. I have searched through forums and learned that I need to do the following:
a- Change Bluetooth drivers under Windows to Apple drivers,
b- First rename then remove both mouse and keyboard under OSX,
c- Add both mouse and keyboard under Windows 7.
d- Add both mouse and keyboard under OSX.
During step c above, the mouse pairs without ant problem but the keyboard does not. The keyboard is discovered but does not ask for a code to pair as it does under OSX. I do not have Apple keyboardand Mouse firmware upgrade CD (why would Apple not provide it as a download?).
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you ever fix it?

  • IMac Bluetooth keyboard not showing up under devices in my iPad

Even after I remove it from my list of iMac devices, if I touch a key on the keyboard, it reconnects to the iMac.  So after I removed it from the devices on my iMac, I shut the iMac off to see if I could get it to work with my iPad (first generation) and it doesn't show up under bluetooth devices on my iPad.  I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, or is it not possible to do this?  I even paired (and unpaired) my iPad to my iMac.  I followed all the directions to unpair/disconnect my keyboard from the iMac, but I still cannot get my iPad to find the keyboard under bluetooth devices.
