Keyboard unresponsive when in Citrix 11.8.2 (255309) after 10.9.5 upgrade

I upgraded my OS from 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 today and cannot log into one of our production systems that uses Citrix ver 11.8.2 (255309).   When the screen comes up and shows the login prompt, the keyboard is un responsive.  Mouse works fine but I cannot type.  Tried opening notepad and cannot type in that either.  What in this update has changed the Mac  OS Citrix relationship?

Yes, 10.9.5 introduces this problem to the Citrix Receiver.  If you hit command + tab to switch to another window, then command + tab to switch back to the Citrix session, you should be able to type again.  I found the solution here Keyboard no longer works with Citrix Receiver after upgrading to OSX 10.9.5

  • Keyboard unresponsive when opening from sleep

Whenever I close my macbook pro, running tiger os x 10.4, the keyboard is unresponsive, I can't type anything, and I have to restart. Is this normal? How can I fix it?

No, it's not normal. Sounds like you ran Software Update without running the “Disk Utility” afterwards. For whatever reason, Apple doesn't include the "Repair Permissions" as part of the download process. Anywho, here is the drill so maybe it will help.
    Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
    Select: your Hard Drive
    Select: the First Aid tab
    Select: Repair Permissions

Do you have multiple keyboard layouts installed?
It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
    * http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258824 - How to change your keyboard layout
Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.
    * http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/The-Language-bar-overview - The Language bar (overview)
    * Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar
    * You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar
    * Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar
    * You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application
    * The default key combination to rotate the layout is the Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift combination that Firefox uses for some menu items
    * To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change keyboards > Advanced key settings > Change key sequence

I have a Macbook Pro Later 2011 with Yosemite installed and today i tried to upgrade memory and SSD.

Then i removed the 16gb, but still doing this 3 beep stuff when i try boot from DVD.
I tried all combinations with new and old hardware but nothing more works...
I have changed the slots with both, the 16gb and old 4gb.
    Could be the DVD corrupted?
Now im running my Yosemite with the original hard drive and the new 16gb memory without any issue.
Im already do the memory test nothing wrong appear in results

  • Keyboard no longer working when using Citrix Receiver and OSX10.9.5

I use Citrix Receiver and an iMac to connect to my work desktop from home. I have the latest release of Citrix Receiver. This morning I upgraded to OSX 10.9.5 and, after the update, my keyboard was not recognised when using Citrix Receiver. It works fine otherwise. Yesterday I had no problems. Is there something in the new OSX upgrade which interferes with Citrix Receiver? Does anybody know what I need to do to get it working again?

I had the same problem and found the solution on another discussion board.  You just go to the dock and click on Finder, then click back in the Citrix window and the keyboard works again.  At least for me.

  • IBook G4 temporarily unresponsive when waking from sleep on AC power

    Hi,
I've noticed that my iBook G4 (late 2004) is temporarily unresponsive when waking from sleep, after having slept and been awoken on AC power (with the battery removed). The computer wakes up, but does not respond to trackpad or keyboard inputs for a non-trivial amount of time (30 seconds or so). There are no problems when sleeping and waking with the battery plugged in. I remove the battery to try to maintain it at a constant 40% load to conserve battery capacity. I am running Mac OS X 10.4.6.
Does anyone have a clue what could be causing this weird behaviour?

And yes... everything is normal at wake-up.
The only other thing I'll add is that the iBook battery replaces the traditional on-board battery found in all Macs used to retain several key settings when a system is unplugged. Things like system time for example. I can only venture a guess that some key setting is being recalculated on wake-up from a no-battery sleep, and the process that reads keyboard input is frozen until that setting is restored.

  • Keyboard freezes when I try to switch users

Hi, I've run into a vey interesting/perplexing problem.  My PC has two users on it, one is local with no password and the other not local and password protected.  When I try to switch between users my wired USB keyboard becomes unresponsive - if I'm switching to the account that requires a password, I can't type it in.  This problem occurs regardless of which account I'm switching to.
I've tried uninstalling all the keyboards through device manager and rebooting.  Keyboard works until I try to switch users.
Interesting development that I stumbled across - if I just unplug the keyboard and plug it back in everything is fine until I try to switch users.
During my research, I found an article that referenced disabling the XHCI and enabling legacy USB support.  Problem with that, is that I haven't been able to find that setting in the BIOS anywhere.
    Very bizarre!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, RG

I have read your post on how your keyboard freezes when you try to switch users on you desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure your system is able to recognize the keyboard when switching accounts, I recommend following the steps in this document on How to Add or Remove "USB selective suspend setting" in Power Options in Windows. This should help to disable USB selective suspend on both accounts after restarting your computer.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • My I phone 5 lower left icons and keyboard unresponsive. Restarted several times. Help!

I can access all of my icons in the upper potion and the browser icon as well, but anything in the bottom row (main icons) except for safari are all unresponsive. when my keyboard comes up, I can use most of the keys except in the lower left corner.  This has me not being able to use my phone and text functions except with the help of Siri.

Open the calculator app.  Tap all of the button while the phone is held up and down as normal and kind of note if any buttons don't work.  Then turn the iPhone sideways so you can see the scientific calculator and do the same, testing all the buttons.  If you can narrow the issue down to a specific portion of the screen not responding, then get your iPhone serviced.  If it is working completely in the Calculator App or if its changing the location that is affected, then its most likely software/firmware related and I would recommend restoring your iOS, then restoring from your backup.

  • Keyboard Unresponsiveness

Hello. So I've got one of the early 13in MacBook's.
I've got the latest software and firmware updates for everything. My problem is, the I and O keys aren't always responsive, and become more unresponsive when the shift key is pressed down. Usually when it's really annoying me, a restart resolves the issue for about a half hour or an hour until I start noticing it again.
I'm really not sure what I can do to permanently fix this. It's truly very annoying, because I'm always typing, be it IMs, emails, or other things.

Are you familiar with the keyboard viewer?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/9024.html
I'd be curious to see if the "I" and "O" keys are responsive via the keyboard viewer, even when they're not appearing. It's very possible that the issue is hardware related (top case/keyboard assembly). What's the warranty status on the machine?

A: my MacBook Air becomes unresponsive when logging in, and I decided to reinstall OS X Lion. When running the installer from OS X Recovery, it gave the error message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."

I encountered the same exact problem when I attempted to re-installed OSX Lion on an old laptop. The date was set back in 2000, which rendered the certificate obsolete. Here's how I fixed it:
From the recovery menu, select the Terminal application. Run the 'date' command to confirm the date is wrong, then set the correct date using this command: date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
e.g. date 1219195613
Exit terminal (type exit). Retry the installation.

  • ITunes freezes and becomes unresponsive when I plug in my iPad.

I have Windows 7, and iTunes works perfectly fine, until I plug in my iPad or any device (I have a iPod touch 4 generation and iPhone 4s). The second I plug in my iPad, iTunes completely freezes and becomes unresponsive. It also becomes unresponsive when I try to go to Preferences. I have to go to task manager to force iTunes to close, but if I unplugged my iPad, iTunes becomes responsive after a couple minutes.
I have researched this problem multiple times, and it seems several others are experiencing the same problem. I have tried their suggested advice, and it did not work for me. I have tried many methods to solving the solution, but it freezes up so quickly I can't even access my iPad on iTunes to ensure that it won't sync automatically. I have also tried holding Ctrl+Shift when plugging it in because iTunes said that way it won't sync automatically. This, however, does not work. iTunes is beginning to become very frustrating. I just really need any advice that will allow me to sync my device ASAP.
I understand there must be some sort of bug in the latest version of iTunes (I also have the latest version of iOS on my iPad and iPhone), but if anyone has any advice as to how to get around this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I know the keyboard can do it during entering of URLs in Safari and data in Safari but not when entering texts or emails.

    No one here knows.
