Impossible, there are zero, as in none, zip, nadda viruses for OS X. If you have viruses on it they are for MS Windows and will not affect OS X. I suspect the hard disk has crashed, if you have backup then it's not a big deal to have it changed, just take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for service. If you have not been backing it up you may be in for a painful lesson on why backup is critical.

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Wireless Keyboard issues after battery change

I've search the forums for an answer and can't seem to come up with anything.
I have an older white wireless keyboard. It's been running great on my Mac Pro since day one, no battery changes since new, about 9 months now, maybe a bit more. The batteries just died on me and I went and changed them with 4 new batteries. Upon turning the keyboard back on, the green power LED comes on steady for about 5 seconds, then goes into a quick double blink, then a pause, then double blink again, repeating this over and over again.
I've replaced the batteries again with a different brand, same results. I've attempted to clean the positive terminals with a pencil eraser as found in an Apple knowledge base article. Nothing seems to change. The unit won't connect and doesn't appeared to be powered on as the Caps Lock key indicator will not light up.
Is it dead? Any ideas on the double blink indicating a fault? The manual does not have a key on blink codes.

Contacted Apple phone support. They had me reset my PRAM and after the reboot, the keyboard connected back up just fine and is working properly again.

  • BT mouse/keyboard won't wake my iMac

Occasionally, once or twice a month, the BT mouse and keyboard will not wake my iMac 27" 2.8 GHz i5 OS X 10.6.7. I must force close computer with the power button. I can hear the fan faintly kick in. Everything is fine when it turns back on.

The only solution is to use Apple supported Bluetooth hardware (which the Targus isn't).
Most third-party USB Bluetooth Adapters will work for some functions (such as simple file transfers), but unless it is Apple supported, specific Apple features such as Wake from Sleep and even iSync often do not work.
The ONLY Apple supported Bluetooth hardware is either the built-in BT hardware in Macs, or the D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adapter.
It's always best to stick with what Apple recommends to ensure 100% compatibility and support.

  • Startup problems after battery change

My G4 Desktop, now getting on for 6 years old, but working perfectly until recently, needed a battery change on the mainboard as the clock was having problems. However this has led to startup problems: initially, following the startup chord, the computer wouldn't start at all. After some online digging, I found references to the CUDA button/zapping the PRAM. I can now restart by resetting CUDA, but the computer usually won't restart or even start from power off, meaning I have to go back to the CUDA button every time. The computer also fails to recognize the installed RAM, except for 128MB, corresponding to one of three RAM strips.
Apart from the battery, the only other likely contributing factors are that the computer's been shipped internationally recently (however, it was professionally packed and shipped, and made its first restart after this move without problems). The other potential factor is the switch in voltage, from 240 to 110, but that was handled normally by switching over on the back of the case.
I would really appreciate any advice that can help me get this old clunker back in action, and with all RAM recognized. Nice as an upgrade would be, it's not a strong option for me at the moment, and I'm otherwise satisfied with the G4 anyway.

    Hi, Yukiguni!
You sure have an interesting problem...
You might review Texas Macman's tutorial at the following link:
    http://www.geocities.com/texas_macman/pram.html
I'd check that replacement battery with a voltmeter to insure that it's good. ("New" isn't necessarily synonymous with "fresh".)
You might try completely de-energizing your Mac. In the link above, there's a Tip just above the Battery section that refers to what to do when sometimes computers lose their mind. This procedure oftentimes works to reset a PMU/CUDA that seems to refuse to reset properly and retain the correct startup parameters.
If you can get the Mac to boot from disk again, you might run the Apple Hardware Disk. Definitely run Repair Disk from the install disk if you haven't already done so and can get it to boot from disk. (You might try booting to the Startup Manager by holding down the option key at startup and trying to select the disk from there. Your best bet for success is to do so just after resetting the CUDA/PMU.)

  • Synching after battery change

I just put a new battery in my ancient, but fully functional m130. I have to run it on an old eMac with OS9.
    My question:
I noticed after the battery change everythign was wiped out on the m130. I am afraid if I synch it will wipe everything out.
How do I synch it so the data in the Palm Desktop on the eMac is put back into the m130?
Seems like when I used it when I was teaching that it would synch and update with whatever was the lastest change in data--either the Palm Desktop if I entered data on it last, or the handheld if I entered data last on it.
If that is so, if I entered some new data on teh Desktop, would it then put all the data on the Desktop on the m130 and be back in business?

  • HT4254 Problems after battery changing

everytime I change the batteries in my trackpad, I have to intermittently hit system preferences to get it to recognize the trackpad. Any suggestions? And yes, the batteries are in the right way.

    Hello:
If that only happens after you change batteries, I would say that is normal.  You might make the device a favorite - that may help.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard won't reconnect after reboot

I have a new Macbook Pro (early 2008 model) that keeps losing my bluetooth keyboard everytime I restart the Mac. I have to either Browse devices and turn the keyboard on and off (I put new batteries in the keyboard recently, so I don't think that is the problem) or else I have to set the keyboard up again from scratch as a new Bluetooth device. Once I get it working again it works fine until I restart.
    This is getting tedious.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Hiya I would advise to try and reset SMC on your MPB and see if it helps.

  • MDD won't power up, even after battery replaced?? Help!!

Hi everyone. I use a MDD 1.25 GHz G4 at work and when I got in this morning the thing wouldn't turn on. After reading numerous forums, I tried the PMU reset button and changed the battery, and still nothing. I've read numerous others that say that they push the power button and it lights up for a second and then shuts off. Well, mine doesn't even light up at all!! I've tried different power cords, even tried an old keyboard with the power button on it, just in case the power button on the G4 was bad. Still no luck!! Could the power supply be bad? I need to advise my boss quickly on this so we know which direction to go from here. He was ready to buy a new one, but I'm trying to save him some money, as we are a smaller company. Anyways, hope one of you gurus can help. Thanks in advance...

Fix for a Mac that won't power up
Mirrored Doors G4. When you pressed the power button, the button would light up, but the computer would not turn on. The fans on the power supply wouldn't turn on.
FIX: unplug the machine, pull the clock battery, hit the power button to discharge. Then plug it in without the clock battery. The machine should boot perfectly. Shut down, reinstall the clock battery, and now the system is fully functional. Macosxhints

  • My keyboard won't connect to imac

I have a 2011 imac that has worked fine for several months but I recently installed some bad ram that caused my computer to do some crazy things.  It stopped recognizing the wireless keyboard that came with it and has been used with it for 6 months.  I have turned on the discoverable and the bluetooth, and the mouse still works fine.  Sometimes it sees the keyboard and it just won't pair with it, and sometimes it won't see it at all.  I don't know if there is a way to reset the keyboard or something.  just kinda stuck on what to do with the situation.  Any ideas?
I was running 10.7.5 when the  issue started, but have updated to 10.8.2 now in hopes that that might help but it hasn't changed anything.

Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth. Select the device in the list on the left, then from the action menu (gear icon) below the list, select Update Services. If there's no improvement, delete the pairing from the list and recreate it.

  • Display won't turn back on after battery dies

I have a Macbook Pro Intel Core i7 and am running OSX 10.7.5
Everytime I am using my computer and the battery dies, the display will not turn on after I plug it in again.  I have tried to wait until the computer has charged up a good amount, but when I wake the computer back up after dying, the macbook startup sound plays and the LED light shines bright as if it were on, but no display.  I have also tried click and pressing different buttons on the keyboard to see if this would wake it up, but no success.  I have had to do hard restarts everytime this happens because it is the only way to get my display working again.
    Any help is appreiciated.  Thanks!

  • Macbook won't start up immediately after battery dying

When I plug in my Macbook after its battery died, it won't start up immediately.
Every single time I have to press power button if I want it to start up. When I do this, it makes a really strange noise. (it's comparable with the sound your Macbook makes when you put in a DVD or something) Afterwards I can see my desktop but the screen is white/transparant and at the same time a progress bar appears. When this bar is full, my Macbook shuts down again and I have to do it all over again. The second time around my Macbook will start working eventually. The white, transparant screen disappears and after a minute or so, I can move my mouse again.
Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
    Thank you

    Hi Laura Hallaert,
I understand that you are seeing a progress bar appear after waking from sleep when your computer has shut itself down from a lack of power. This article will explain to you why you see the progress bar:
Mac computers: Progress bar appears after waking from sleep - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201635
This progress bar only appears when your computer’s battery power has been depleted, so if you put your computer to sleep before that happens, you should not see this behavior any longer. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard won't pair with iMac...

I just bought a new 27" iMac and had customized and shipped from Apple (didn't buy it off the shelf in the Apple Store).
When the new iMac got here today, I connected it to my aftermarket (wired USB) keyboard and trackball. It works fine.
My problem is that I need to use my old iMac for several days while I get files off of it, etc. (don't want to use migration assistant). My old iMac is last year's 24" model.
When I start my old iMac, it comes on and brings up a "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" window and starts automatically searching for a bluetooth keyboard. I read the instructions online, and powered-on the Apple Wireless Keyboard that came with my new iMac. I powered on this new keyboard, and my old iMac starts to recognize it (it says "Attempting to connect to keyboard"), but then says there has been an error, and doesn't recognize it.
The instructions online say that when I power on my Apple Wireless Keyboard, the green light on it should start blinking. It doesn't. It just comes on for about three seconds and goes off.
What's wrong? I need to get my old iMac to recognize this keyboard. I can't even safely shut if off if it doesn't. Could it be that it was already paired to the iMac it came with? I've replaced the batteries, and still it doesn't work. Please help!
    Thanks!

Well, of course that had occurred to me. But I need to use both computers at once for a while, and I only have one wired, USB keyboard.
Anyway, I eventually got it to work. I still don't know what the problem was.
