Did you go through the verification process where Apple sends you an e mail for the purpose of verifying that your address is valid?
If I remember correctly, you must respond to a link in the e mail to verify.

  • My iphone 4 won't turn on since the battery died

The battery of my iphone 4 died this morning. Since then it's been 10 hours and the whole time it has been connected to the charger.. The phone react to charger but won't turn on, it only shows the Apple logo the whole time. Every few minutes, the screen goes black for a second and then, it shows the logo again. Can anyone help me? I tried to put the battery of my friend's iphone 4 in my phone, and it worked perfectly fine, so the problem is in battery.

Well, once you opened the device and changed the battery yourself, you voided all post-warranty support from Apple and from the forum. You are on your own for this one. Sorry. You could have seen about Apple replacing the battery, but that won't happen now.

  • Logitech keyboard won't turn on

Just purchased the iPad mini with a logitech keyboard one month ago. The keyboard will not turn on today. Anyone else with a similar problem?

If they are new, the warranty is in effect. Rather than waste time, I would take it back for diagnosis.

  • My iPod touch 5th generation won't turn on after the new iOS update

I've just updated my iPod touch 5th generation to the iOS 8.1.1. (or whatever the newest update is) but once it updated, it now won't turn back on. I've tried plugging it into multiple chargers and computers just in case it wasn't charged, and tired turning it on, but all I get is the apple logo and nothing's happening. What can I do? I haven't backed it up this month and I don't want to loose all my stuff. Thanks.

Try the following. It is very likely that the iPod will have to be erased:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
In the future make sure yo backup before updating. I always backup to both iTunes and iCloud before updating .

  • Mail won't preview messages since 10.9.3 update

Since the last OS update Mail does not like to preview.  When I get new mail or scroll through recent messages the preview pane show "Loading.." or just dark gray (no content).  If I double click and open the message in a window I get the same result.
Tried Genius Bar.  They dleted a plist file and it help for a few minutes.
Tried to Rebuild.  No deiscernable help there.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
    Envelope Index
    ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Wireless keyboard won't turn on after changing battery

    This is what happened:
I got a message yesterday telling me that the battery for my wireless keyboard was low and I should replace them. This morning, before I switched on my Mac, I put in new battery for the wireless keyboard. Then I switched on my Mac. And I got a message on the screen saying that There's no keyboard connected and couldn't find any keyboards. I thought that maybe I need to turn on the keyboard to make it work. So I pressed the power button and noticed that the green light doesn't even come up..
What's going on? Is my wireless keyboard already dead??
Any advice would be appreciate it. Thanks.

Possible fix to non pairing blue tooth devices.....
I have a BTMMouse- quite new. The original lithium batteries died and I replaced them with alkaline. It would connect but refused to pair. Went on the MM discussion board which had over 300 similar problems with both MM and BT keyboards, with absolutely no solutions from Apple or anyone!
I have an Apple Care plan, so I called and was told to shut down. Then remove the power cord from the back of my iMac, wait one minute, plug it back in. Fire up, and then attempt to set up a new device in BT. It worked on the first try. Then to double check, I shut down and restarted and the mouse stayed connect and paired!

  • TS3048 My Keyboard won't turn on!

I forgot on my mac it then it wouldnt reconnect then it wouldnt turn on!

Sounds like something needs returning, but do you have an old USB KB to test with?
    Or...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Wifi won't turn on since upgrade to Lion

First of all, my apologies if i make alot of gramar/spell errors, english is not my native language.
Yesterday i've upgraded my Snow Leopard installation to Lion on my late 2008 macbook pro and from the beginning i am unable to start my Wifi/Airport card. The menu bar shows the wifi icon but with no signal bars. When i click the wifi icon and press 'Turn wifi on' nothing happens. System profiler shows the airport card and when i look in Console i can see that the system recognizes the wifi card and acknowledge it's mac address.
    What i've tried so far:
    - I've created another user account
    - I performed a clean install on a second harddrive, same problem
    - i rolled back to Snow Leopard and the airport card functions as it should be, this rules out a hardware failure
    - I've deleted all files in /library/preferences/SystemConfiguration and rebooted
    - I've created a new location with only the Airport card under System preferences - Network
    - I've made the airport card inactive and active again
I did found some strange messages in Console but they are not very clear: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/718/screenshot20110721at102.png/

  • Imac won't wake up since 10.4.7 update

Hello! I have a 17" imac g5 (purchased in 12/05) that will NOT wake up from sleep now since I have done the OS X 10.4.7 update. I have to hold the on/off button for at least 5 seconds and by the 2nd or 3rd time it will finally come on. Any ideas?? The only peripheal I have is a card reader. It does it with that unplugged. I also fixed disk permissions, still won't wake up. Since I am still relatively new to Mac, I need detailed instructions. Thank you so much in advance!!

    Hello,
At this point, it would seem that you are down to two last options:
    1) Re-install OS X from your original Restore disks.
    2) take it in for repair and see if it's a hardware problem.
I think you have the last version of the iMac G5 (the one with the iSight). If so, you are still under warranty since those came out around November or December. So, you should still be in your first year (a 3 or 4 months left).
I think at this point, it would be best to do two things:
    1) Run the hardware test that came with your computer. See if that finds a problem.
If it does, we'll stop there, and let you take it in for servicing.
This should be on one of your restore disks. It will say Apple Hardware Test on the disk somewhere (smaller print). And, provide directions for starting the test on your particular system.
Now, once you are in the test, run both the standard and extended tests. See if either finds a problem. This could take a couple of hours.
Let me know what it says.
    2) Now, if it doesn't find any problems, then I would propose that you re-install OS X from scratch.
I would first copy any important information to an external drive or disk.
If you have an external hard drive, you could make a full backup of your entire hard drive using a program such as Carbon Copy Cloner:
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
This program can be used to create an exact clone of your main hard drive.
So, it is a bootable backup that can be used to put your entire system back exactly as it was at the time of the backup.
This means that if something happens, you can boot from your external drive, and resume normal work. Or, you can boot from the external drive and run the program again to restore your computer to match the backup.
This backup is an exact clone of your entire installation, so it is readable by another machine.
It works great, and I've never had a problem with it.
But, I use the "Clone" feature.
This has the advantage of being able to restore quickly, and return back to the exact point you were at when you backed-up.
In your situation, we would use this backup for two purposes. First, it ensures that all your important information is backed-up. Second, it means that if your new installation doesn't fix the problem, you could just revert back to this installation and everything would be like it was.
Now, if you don't have an external drive, then just backup your important files (e-mails, documents, downloads, anything of importance to you) to another disk (CD-R or DVD-R, etc.).
Make sure you get the 10.4.7 Combo Update stored somewhere so you can update again without downloading it.
Once you have verified that everything you want is safely stored on another disk or drive, then you could proceed with the re-install.
Make sure you disconnect any external drives (FireWire, USB) and other accessories before re-installing. Just keep your keyboard and mouse connected.
You can install OS X by booting from your Restore disks. Insert the disk, and restart while holding down the letter C on your keyboard until it finishes booting from the restore disk.
Once started-up, I would personally recommend using the "Erase and Install" option. This will give you a completely fresh installation without any of your old bugs getting carried-over.
The "Archive and Install" will basically install a fresh copy of your OS X while preserving your settings and installed software.
Here's a good article summarizing your options and how each works:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301270
The problem with Archive and Install is that sometimes problematic settings will survive using this method.
So, for best results, use the Erase and Install. Since you already have everything copied to another disk, this shouldn't be a problem.
Once the fresh installation is done, then see how your system behaves.
If everything is fine, then immediately install the 10.4.7 Combo Update.
    Now, repair permissions.
    See how things are now.
If everything is fine, then go ahead and setup your e-mail, programs etc.
Copy your data and files back, and resume operations
    3) Now, if things still don't work right, then call your service shop and arrange for warranty repair.
It is a pain to go through all these steps. But, the service shop will blame software first unless the hardware test reveals a problem.
So, by doing a fresh install, you beat them to it. You can tell them you have already done that, and know the problem is hardware related.
Anyway, I hope that the re-install isn't needed. But, if it is, then the steps are listed above.
Start with the hardware test and other ideas above first. But, if those don't work or reveal something, then go ahead and re-install and let me know what you find.
Keep me posted on your progress, and let me know what does or doesn't work for you.
    I hope this helps.

  • MacBook Pro 15" 2007 won't turn on after leaving Snow Leopard update in the drive

    Hi Everyone,
After installing Snow Leopard 10.6.3, I left the cd in the drive when I turned the computer off. When I tried to turn the computer back on again, the screen told me that I needed to restart the computer by holding down on the power button. So I did, but the message came up again. I did it again. The third time, the computer wouldn't turn on at all.
I removed the cd by opening up my computer--something I had done in the past because of problems with the keyboard. (The keyboard was never fixed, and the trackpad didn't work either, so I used USB connections. The powerbutton never was affected though)
    Two questions:
First, what would you say is the culprit in the first problem with the messages to restart the computer? How might I address this?
Second, knowing the secondary information about the keyboard connections, how might this affect fixing the problem? Could the powerbutton now be affected, especially since I lifted the keyboard off?
Lastly, I've looked into restarting the SMC, and turning on the computer without the button. I have tried the first of these two options, and will soon attempt the second (If anyone can send me a link to better explain turning on the computer without a button for my model, I'd be grateful.)
Any more advice (short of bringing it into the shop!) would be helpful.

Try powering up and push in your install disc(use your original install disk if you have it, maybe try the retail SL disc white with the cat as a second choice) holding the C key (this should make it boot from the disc) select your language, click continue, in the next screen in the menu bar click Utilities/Disk utilities, select (highlight your volume from the left column, default name is Macintosh HD, unless you renamed it) click the first aid tab, then click verify disk, if it comes up with errors (they will be in red font) if you get errors, run repair disk, run it repeatedly if necessary till it comes up with this disk seems ok (in green font)
    Then run permissions repair.
Log out and reboot see what you get.
You may have to reinstall the 10.6.3 OSX again, do this by powering up and pushing in the disk holding the C key and follow the prompts. if you have a successful install, eject the disc, and reboot. The next thing you need to do is run software update, there will be many and you want to do them one at a time. (use an ethernet connection as opposed to wireless, as there is much chance of corruptions. The first one to run is the 10.6.8 combined v 1.1, the keep running software update one at a time till there are none offered.
    Hope this helps

  • Auto-brightness Won't Turn off after Win 8.1 update

I have a Y510P, and I got the Win 8.1 update about a month ago. Since then, my screen auto-dims whenever the average color of the screen is darker than plain white. So every time I am on a website that has a picture (like Facebook), as soon as I scroll to it, my entire screen dims. Also, I cannot watch videos without my laptop being plugged in because the screen is too dark to watch it on.
When my laptop is plugged in, I have no issues. Also, even after the brightness is decreased, it tells me that my brightness is turned up all the way.
I went into the advanced settings in control panel and have auto-brightness disabled, but it isn't helping. I tried accessing the NDIVIA settings to see if it's in there, but all I can access are simple controls, none of which affect brightness.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

  • IPhone 3G Won't Turn On After OS 4.0 Update

A little background about my iPhone 3G to help you guys out -- the sleep/wake button hasn't worked in a few months, so if, say, Safari freezes, I let the battery die out to restart my phone. A major pain, I know.
Tonight I decided to update through iTunes to the OS 4.0. It seemed as if everything was going well, but after about an hour of backing up and installing, my phone is now permanently turned off seeming to have never restarted from the update. To make matters worse, it is no longer recognized by iTunes or my PC. As stated, the sleep/wake button doesn't work so a hard reset or restore is physically impossible. Does anyone have suggestions on how to restore the phone back to the previous OS?
I'm currently trying to reinstall iTunes as I type this.

After several hours of various numerical error messages, freezing loop, iTunes not recognizing the 3G, rebooting the computer (iMac), hard resets, etc, I forced it off and went to bed. Today I found that while iTunes still would not recognize the phone as it would normally, it did when I unplugged and then plugged in the phone. The phone was then restored ( 4.0 was obviously installed last night and then went into a loop). I refused backup, restored OS, but did not continue to restore from back up. The phone is now operational and synced via mobile me, however no apps than system. Based on the latter I will not allow iTunes to restore my backup until this problem is resolved. Some of the said apps are used for business, but I have the iPad to sync them with in the interi.
