Keyboards & iPhone 4.

Simple question:
Can you use a MacBook Pro's keyboard with iPhone 4, over Bluetooth (or some other special way)?

Page 48 of the manual:

such as Bluetooth headsets, car kits, and stereo headphones."

  • IOS 8 broke my Japanese keyboard. (iPhone 5s)

    Hello folks,
I am a native English speaker living and working in Japan and I require my iPhone's Japanese keyboard for everyday life. Please help!
    The problem:
I updated to iOS 8 (from 7.0.4, iPhone 5s 32 GB) without issue last night before going to sleep. This morning I realised that I could not use the Japanese keyboard.
-Word prediction & autocorrect both work fine when I start with the English keyboard.
-I had not installed any new keyboards before the problem began.
-When I switch from English to Japanese keyboards, Japanese characters do not appear when typing, only roman letters.
-This only occurs with the "romaji" keyboard. The kana keyboard works but I've never used it before so it's kind of a pain.
-The prediction line disappears and autocorrect stops working.
-Can only get them back by closing & restarting the app.
-I've tested several different apps, iMessage, Line, two different Japanese dictionaries, Spotlight, Pages, etc., all with the same problem.
-I have since downloaded two other keyboards, MyScript - Stack & SwiftKey, Stack works but SwiftKey doesn't have a Japanese language pack.
    Attempts to fix:
         -Restarted  -> Didn't work.
         -Deleted all keyboards, restarted & re-added. -> Didn't work.
         -Added 3rd party keyboards.  -> Didn't work.
-Added Chinese keyboards. -> Chinese works, but I don't need it. I need Japanese.
-Added & removed several other keyboards in different combinations.  -> Didn't work.
After writing all this down I'm pretty sure the only solution may be to restore, but if anyone has any tricks I would be grateful! I haven't found anything on the web about this so maybe I'm a unique butterfly.
    Thanks for reading!
-The guy who just got a mosquito bite on his hand.

Having exactly same problem and couldn't manage to make it work.
This is really annoying since I need to write Japanese all the time.
    Attempts to fix:
         - Restarted
         - Reseted
         - Removed keyboards and re-added
         - Backed up an restored
         - Installed the update (8.0.2)

  • HT4112 Keyboard iphone 3GS pairing

Hello, I just bought a french AZERTY version of this keyboard and paired it with my iphone 3GS unfortunately, the layout that is inputed into the iphone is that of a qwerty keyboard. I have tried changing the "hardware layout" in keyboard settings but it doesn't change the layout the keyboard outputs to the iphone. On another note, it works perfectly fine on my mac.
    Thanks very much,
    Esujko

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  If you've been through ALL these steps sequentially and you still have the problem, then you'll need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and have your phone evaluated.

  • Problems with the A key in landscape keyboard iPhone 5s (32GB AT&T black)

    I have a black iPhone 5s 32Gb through AT&T.
Recently I've been having a lot of problems with typing in landscape mode.  It may only be in the messages app, I'm not sure, that's definately when I notice it the most.  What happens is I will be typing very fast and I'll go to type 'a' and nothing happens.  I try a few more times and frequently the phone will freeze for a second, sometimes go black, sometimes even crash the app.  If I flip the phone to type in portrait I don't have any problem.
Has anyone else seen this?  Is this a software issue or is something wrong with my hardware?

Try to reset the device by pressing hold of the home and power button for 15-20 seconds and letting of when the Apple logo appears.

  • Keyboard iphone 5 problem

I am having problems with my keyboard. Sometimes I will touch the right side of the screen and it will activate something on the left side like I touched it. Sometimes I will touch the bottom of the keyboard on an text screen and the edit button will be activated. Also, when I am trying to select an option, the screen with shake back and forth. Any ideas???

Having the same problem as well.  When setting up a new contacts list we also had several instances where the key selection graphic would stick and prevent selection of another character (e.g., the letter "A" will block the selection of "Q".  The only way to clear it was to select another character (not good!).  Perhaps the sensitiiviy issue with the Q and P characters (and the delete key) will be improved when the phone is in a case (sounds familiar!!!). Has anyone noticed a difference when the phone is in a case?
Another observation when comparing to the 4/4s is that the keys appear to be closer.  This may be due to the sensitivity/calibration issue or an illlusion due to the larger sceen size.

  • Comparing the iPhone 3G with my current Japanese iPhone (trying to decide)

I'm trying to decide whether or not to switch to an iPhone 3G now that it has been released here in Japan. I currently use an AU cell phone by Casio. I would have to switch to Softbank, but you can keep your old phone number now, so that's no problem.
The iPhone certainly has it's attractions. It also has it's drawbacks compared to phones here. I think it adds up differently for different people depending on which features they think are important. Here is how I have been currently thinking about it. Please tell me if I got any of the iPhone features wrong!
iPhone = how I rank the iPhone feature on a 0-10 scale
current = how I rank my current Japanese cell phone on a 0-10 scale
weight = how important I think the feature is on a 0-10 scale
    (1) Web Surfing - iPhone 10 / current 3 / weight 10
The iPhone's browser is clearly the best cell phone web browser anywhere.
    (2) Camera Still - iPhone 3 / current 5 / weight 8
My current cell phone's quality has never been pleasing, and is the same 2 megapixel resolution of the iPhone. But it does have a flash and an image stabilizer, neither of which the iPhone has.
    (3) Camera Video - iPhone 0 / current 6 / weight 8
It really is convenient to be able to shoot videos with your cell phone these days. The iPhone may be the ONLY cell phone in the world these days without that feature, which is very inexplicable. This might be the show-stopper for me. True, I usually shoot videos with my regular camera. In fact, I usually shoot still photos with my regular camera. Still, it is a very useful feature to have.
    (4) Electronic Wallet - iPhone 0 / current 10 / weight 5
It really is convenient to just wave your cell phone at the train wicket, or at the convenience store, or vending machine and not fuss with cash. But the fact of the matter is there is also a card version of the e-money which I also have, so I can do the same thing by waving my unopened wallet at the same devices. So I could live without this feature. Recharging the e-money by cell phone is convenient though.
    (5) Cut and Paste - iPhone 0 / current phone 5 / weight 3
I don't often use the feature, but it is relatively easy on my current phone to mark the begin and end of a section of text and then use copy/cut/paste. I can't believe the iPhone still doesn't have something as basic as that. It probably isn't a show stopper, but it does give me pause.
    (6) Digital TV receiver - iPhone 0 / current phone 9 / weight 1
My Japanese friend really wants a new phone with a digital TV receiver so he can watch it on the trains to and from work. On the other hand, this isn't a show-stopper for me because I very rarely use the TV feature.
    (7) Replaceable battery pack - iPhone 0 / current phone 10 / weight 2
Most Japanese seem to be very taken aback that you can't remove and change the battery pack yourself and switch to a spare when out for a long day. That sort of bothers me too, but the fact of the matter is I've never done that with any of my previous phones, so don't think I would worry about it. I am guessing there are portable rechargers available that run on batteries, right? I've used those before.
    (8) Applications - iPhone 10 / current phone 2 / weight 10
The iPhone clearly has all the other cell phones beat in terms of applications. I've always been very disappointed with the lack of interesting apps available for my Japanese cell phones. I am assuming there is a PDF viewer available?
    (9) Email - iPhone 7 / current phone 7 / weight 10
I haven't used the iPhone email app so I am just guessing. I assume you can have file attachments, right? Like send photos via email? Can you have multiple attachments in one email? iPhone email isn't "push" yet, right? You have to poll for new messages. My current phone uses push technology, like a Blackberry does, so it receives email automatically as soon as it is sent.
    (10) Keyboard - iPhone ? / current phone ? / weight 10
I still can't figure out which is easier to use. My current cell phone is easy to input in Japanese, but hard to input in English! I suspect that the iPhone is the opposite - probably easier to input in English because of the full kb, but more difficult in Japanese. Also the lack of there being buttons or tactile feedback might make it harder to user.
    (11) Display - iPhone 8 / current phone 6 / weight 10
The iPhone's display is larger and brighter. On the other hand, my current phone's display has a higher resolution.
    (12) Music features - iPhone 10 / current phone 2 / weight 7
Having a built-in iPod is very nice. My current phone has the AU music system built in but it doesn't work well with Macs. A Windows person might find it more useful.
I also read about a "yellow-ish tint" problem with the new iPhones. That's something I wouldn't want to get into. Another headache with Apple over some quality problem, like I had with my iPod nano 3G that I ended up getting a refund for. I don't think I could take that right now. Has that issue been resolved?
    Thanks!
    doug

    (3) Apple didn`t include video support because of the quality of the 2 MP camera, they are known as being the best in video and photography, so enabling video would result in a poor quality, Apple`s approach on this was all or nothing.
    (9) It supports loads of attachments such as PDF, DOC, images, that can be saved to the phone, or attached right after making them from the Camera Roll, and actually it supports push email, via the "Mobile Me" service from Apple (.Mac). This requires a anual payment, but it`s not that expensive, considering that you can use it with PC`s, Macs, and your phone.
    (10) The iPhones keyboard is the best I`ve ever used, i takes about a week to write fast, and about 2 to be a pro, and I mean really fast :))
PS: What`s your current phone ?

  • Can't use Japanese keyboard in iOS 8

I cannot use Japanese keyboard, both Romaji and Kana, after updating to iOS8.
The predictive function that worked well in iOS7 just disappeared with no clues.
Normally, when I type in Kana, it will convert what I type to Kana and when I press Enter, it will show a list of words that match with it. With pressing Enter again, the word I selected will be shown on the screen.
This function can't work anymore in iOS8.
When I type in Kana, it just shows English alphabet with no list of words to be chosen in Japanese after I pressed Enter.
I tried to removed Japanese keyboard many times but it didn't work.
Already Restore & Backup, this didn't work either.

The issue can be solved by the advice in the discussion below

  • Does the iPad have a backlit keyboard?

I require this piece of information.

    Pro Apple User wrote:
How do I turn the backlighting on?
If you can see the screen at all, the backlight is ON.  When the backlight is OFF, the entire screen is blank.
Not meaning to sound rude or harsh, but have you every held, used or seen a LED/LCD backlit device with a virtual keyboard (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or any of many dozens of smart phones or tablets)?  The "keyboard" is nothing more than a coordinated collection of touch icons, just like all control features in any app on an iPad.  Since the screen is an LED backlit LCD screen, the only way to see anything at all on it is to have the backlit on.

  • Problem with entering hieroglyphs!!!

    iPhone 5s
    iOS 8.0.2
    Hello,
since updating to iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.2 later, there is no possibility to enter hieroglyphic texts anymore! Particulary, it's impossible to enter texts in Japanese anymore!! It seems like iOS' makers just forgot to add to the new iOS' version all the necessary Japanese dictionaries.
Now, when I try to tap with hieroglyphs, there are just english letters insted.
Tryed to switch off and switch on, restart, change language keyboards in Settings several times and without any result.

    Try resetting the keyboard dictionary.

  • Dictionary text message languages

I bought a Nokia 2760; the software does not have the application to write in spanish text messages using the dictionary.
I just wonder if there is the option to download or reprogram the mobile to install the spanish language in the text message dictionary.
The place where I got the mobile did not help me about a solution.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Tania.

You can turn on additional international keyboards. When more than one keyboard is turned on, the globe symbol left of the spacebar is used to switch between them. When you switch to another keyboard, the spacebar briefly indicates the keyboard language now selected for use. If the keyboard selected has a dictionary, the appropriate dictionary is activated automatically when you select a supported keyboard. iPhone uses the active dictionary to suggest corrections or complete the word you’re typing. This, using an Italian keyboard also uses the Italian dictionary to suggest corrections.

  • Wireless USB Adapters compatible with 10.8

Since updating to Mountain Lion 10..8.2 on my MBP 2008 - 8 gig Ram, the system will not start up when my USB wireless stick is attached. Once I remove it, the system starts up fine. Pop it back in and it shuts down. I can plug other devices including USB music Keyboard, iphone without any problems. Occasionally I can insert the usb stick and wireless actually works but it is intermittent.
I use the stick as the wireless hardware inside the MBP is damaged and have been using it like this for around a year on Snow Leopard without any problems. I also updated the drivers for my USB stick which is made by Realtek.
I repaired disk permissions and reinstalled Mountain Lion before posting this but the problem still persists.
Does anyone recommend any USB adapters that are compatible with 10.8??

  • Keyboard short cut not working in iOS 6 on iPhone

I just tried adding a new keyboard short cut on my iPhone 4S with iOS 6 and the short cut will not stay on the phone.  I can enter it and it is added to the list of short cuts until I go back one screen, then the shor cut disappears.  This worked fine under iOS 5 and still works fine on my iOS5 iPod Touch.  Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Fred

I have an iPhone 4 with current iOS.
I've noticed this over the past few months. I always notice it on the FB app. My short cuts stop working. I will check email or note. I figured restarting the phone would fix it.
Here's the thing. Obviously I use FB a lot, but this short cut issues never happens in text messages, Whatsapp, or email. Always with FB.
In fact I noticed that I get sluggish typing performance typing using the FB app whether I use the keyboard short cuts or not.
Just wondering if this common among iPhone 4 users.
