Keychain Access -iCloud/iMessage/ids

Please, would someone educate me as to why com.apple.Internetaccounts.xpc, com.apple.iCLoudHelper, com.apple.iCloudHelper.xpc, and CalendarAgent request use of "login" keychain when I login? I can select "Cancel" six times for each request before a variable period of time passes.
I have safari set to not save any password information or Autofill information and do not use keychain in my iCloud (meaning under iCloud preferences, keychain is not selected).  Also, I find myself signed out of my iCloud each time I log back into my iMac. I have yet to set up iMessage or FaceTime on my iMac, yet com.apple.facetime.registrationV1 is in my "login" keychain access. Under "Kind" this is an "Application Password." Also under "login" keychain access there is an "iMessage Encryption Key," an "iMessage Signing Key," Under "Kind" these are "Private Key."
Also, under "login" there four "ids" Application Passwords. It reads, "ids: identity-rsa-key-pair-signature-v1," another as: "ids: identity-rsa-private-key" and
"ids: identity-rsa-pulic-key," and the last "ids: identity message-protection-key." In my iCloud, I do have "Find my Mac" enabled so perhaps these are related to the fact that I have my FireVault on and I have a Guest Account with Safari only? I am not sure if I am over-thinking this - perhaps I should just enter my keychain password. I did run First-Aid Verification and there were no issues. I apologize for being such a novice. I am just starting my second semester as a CEN student and I am new to the "Apple Family."
I'm looking forward to any help and knowledge that can be provided. I thank the community in advance.

Thanks a lot.
I tried disabling iCloud Keychain in the iCloud Account Settings and deleted the Keychain from my Mac. After a restart, I re-enabled iCloud Keychain. After that, it worked. I have now access to all my passwords and secure notes, using my login-password, as xtremecarbon said.

I changed my apple id, but my ipad does not allow me to change it for Icloud, so I can't  edit my account so I can access Icloud. I was told at Apple store that I could use both Apple ids, but my old one is no longer recognized on the appleid website, so my password for my old apple id won't work.
    Any suggestions?

If you only changed the name of your ID rather than creating a new ID, just go to Settins>iCloud and tap Delete Account then sign back in with the new name.  (Deleting the account from your phone does not delete it from iCloud.  Your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)
If you created a new ID, you'll have to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
You won't lose any photos in your camera roll or photo library.  If you have any photos in your photo stream that are over 30 days old that are not in your camera roll or saved on your computer, be sure to save these to the camera roll before deleting the account.  To do so, open the photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you need to save to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • Cant sign into icloud and keychain access crashes on opening

I have recently experienced very frustrating glitches in my iMac's operability (2011 model, 1TB hard disk and recent upgrade to 12GB RAM to overcome very slow running).  The machine runs OSx 10.9.5.  I cannot sign into iCloud on this machine (although my iPan and iPhone both work) and every time I open Keychain access it crashes.  Sorry to post 2 issues in one thread, but I have never experienced these before and wonder if  they are  related?

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.keychainaccess.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
What happens when you try to sign into iCloud?

  • MB Air won't let me sign in to iCloud from System Preferences. I reset Keychain Access and deleted Accounts plist. No problem signing in via web and on other Mac.

    Hi all.
I've just been given an Air. I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything (which didn't work very well: no Contacts transferred and the Air Contacts application can't even open manually transferred Contacts Archive .vcf).
Trying to transfer contacts led me to iCloud - I thought I could copy them from there. Then I discovered that I can't sign in to iCloud via System Preferences. I get two error messages. The most common one is 'you cannot sign in at this time'. I've tried every solution on the web: I reinstalled Yosemite. I reset Keychain Access. I deleted Accounts plist.
The other message I occasionally get is 'This is a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud account'. It is: I'm logged on fine on my MBP, iPhone and iPad.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance,
    Aida

So - I have been having this same issue, and while it's not totally resolved for me, I have figured out what's causing it.  I am running a machine with two hard drives and to keep my documents on a separate drive from the OS/Applications, I used the Advanced Option to specify the location of my home drive for my user account under "Users & Groups".  I've found that if I reset this to the default path of /Macintosh HD/Users/{username}, that it works fine.  However Apple has a bug in that this functionality breaks when you specify your own home directory.  Hopefully, this will be addressed in an update.

  • Hung on iCloud Keychain access on set up after install

Okay so the install seems to have been successful until iCloud Keychain access -
    It's now hung - spinny wheel -
Can't click back or skip now ...
Haven't backed up properly ...not enough space to time machine
Is the install done enough for me to pull the plug and be safe ???
When I click the mouse wheel the correct widgets are there , thats making me think the OS and data is safe and ready to go ... It's just the iCloud Keychain that's screwing it - I don't use iCloud normally which is probably the problem - will setting it up on my iPad now help???
Help ..... Please someone help ... There's so much precious stuff I could loose ... I think I am about to cry if I loose it all ... It's been trying for 10 minutes ...
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP .... FAST ..

I've solved the problem - so I thought I'd share as others may have it -
Essentially what seems to have caused the problem and how I solved it non destructively if others are having the same issue (off my own back and intuition)
At the point I'm talking about within the install its a setup assistant application for the new (more gimmicky not performance or core OS installation) features iCloud Keychain etc .. The core OS IS installed ..
Hot corners proved this as they were working , I could see my apps , and a software updater trying to prompt me to update CS5 as the OS is updated -
I had to use alt-cmd-escape - which on attempting to force quit the app failed it said I had to restart it also told me all application memory was being used - (considering the only things running were finder , set up assistant and the CS5 updater , I find it hard to believe it was using 12gb of RAM ) - this paused the application when I refused the restart It suggested on attempting to force quit it  ..  Which allowed me to use hot corners to get to the updater and update CS5, which I believe to be causing the hang  - it also allowed and also switch to Finder which showed my data was intact- blagged a HD (although it proved not to be necessary) and time machined    - restarted the machine probably quite bravely ... On restart cmd-r - had to re-enter the password for my wifi ... Reinstalled Mavericks OTA - went through set up assistant - set up the features - however due to the issue - I've lost my entire Keychain ... Which in the big scheme of things is NOT the end of the world -
2 hours of **** and fear I solved it... Hope this helps everyone else with the issue and I'm not the only person in the world with the issue - if you ignore the iCloud Keychain initially even if it hangs because of the software updater - I don't think you'll loose your key chain ..
Proves self logic (not the program) can work ... Although i only ended up finding this solution after violently repeated hammeing the force quit command - they say violence doesn't work with computers but if I hadn't repeatedly violently taken my frustrations out on alt-cmd -escape  I wouldn't have found the solution -  so maybe sometimes it does !!! Just do it to the keyboard (on a iMac ) not the screen as their a lot cheaper to replace !!!
    I hope this helps

  • ICloud keychain access password

    Hi guys,
Safari is saving passwords both on my iphone and my mac – this iCloud Keychain does work. Cool.
Then design of the website is changing and whatnot and Safari stops entering password for me.
I go to the Keychain Access and trying to see the password.
Keychain Access is asking me for the password for "Local Items" ... hm... ok.
Local admin password does not work, my iCloud password does not work.. what password shall I use to see items stored in my iCloud keychain?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hey there keloin,
It sounds like you are wanting to see what Safari passwords your iCloud Keychain. You should be able to do this in the Safari preferences:
How do I view the passwords stored in my iCloud keychain?
Macs using OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later:
Choose Safari > Preferences, then click Passwords.
Select the website whose password you want to view.
Select the “Show passwords for selected websites” checkbox.
    Enter your system password.

When sending/receiving an iMessage (from gmail address) how can I then receive or access my iMessages on my actual gmail account/inbox?

    Hi,
The Messages app can join 5 different services.
The "iChat Originals" that include AIM, Jabber and Yahoo (although they were added at different times to the app)
The Bonjour account that has been present for LAN based Mac to Mac chat and lastly the iMessages account in the Messages app that iChat has become.
Google email IDs can be used as a Jabber ID in Messages as Google run a Jabber server.
As the Google server does not follow conventional naming formatting it has it's own Add option in Messages.
Effectively all the services are separate.
Any email used as an Apple ID can be the iMessages account.
Of course this may be a Google one like you have that can also be used as  Jabber/GoogleTalk ID or it may be an Apple issued ID (@mac.com @me.com or @icloud.com) that will also work as a Valid AIM Screen Name.
It may be that someone has their Yahoo email as their Apple ID.

  • Mail & Mavericks & Keychain Access

    Hello,
After updating to Mavericks (from Mountain Lion), I noticed that there's a new keychain called "local items" inside Keychain Access App.
so I have a couple of questions regarding this and my usage of Mail:
    1) from what I read in this forum, "local items" is the keychain created by Mavericks, it should sync to the login keychain (which is usually, and certainly in my case, the default keychain, meaning it is in bold face on the left hand side of the Keychain Access window). And as far as I understand, if you have icloud enabled, this keychain would be called "icloud keychain", if not, it will remain the name "local items", is this correct? I do not want to have anything to do with icloud, so I don't have any icloud keychain. When I log into the my account on the mac both the login and the "local items" keychain are unlocked (I guess this makes sense if they are supposed to be synced. So basically this is my understanding of this "local items" keychain, please correct/inform me if this understanding is not correct.
    2) now, I noticed that the passwords that I typed in for my e-mail accounts (set up in Apple's Mail) are saved inside this "local items" keychain. So everything seems to be fine. However, I noticed that the passwords saved inside this "local items" keychain cannot be edited in the "access control" panel (this is accessed by double clicking the password item and click on the "access control" tab.) This is odd because all the other items in the "login" keychain can be edited in this way.
    3) so my main goal is to ask Mail to NOT remember my password (I know this is not the prefer setting for most users, but I prefer to have it this way). In Leopard, Mail had a little checkbox where you set up your account that asks the application to NOT remember the password. This is really handy because it prompts me to re-enter the password whenever I restart the application, which is exactly what I want it to behave. But since upgrading to Mountain Lion (I'm not sure how it is in Snow Leopard or Lion, as I jumped from Leopard straight to Mountain Lion, and now to Mavericks), this box has disappearred. I found a work around online. Before Mavericks, the mail account passwords are saved (if I remember correctly) in the login keychain, the work around works by saving (i.e. dragging) all your email  passwords into a separate/new keychain (let's call it Keychain A) which has a different password than your login keychain (which, by definition, is unlocked upon login). So I set this up and Mail automatically knows to prompt me to enter the password for Keychain A in order to access my e-mail account passwords. This doesn't behave exactly like unchecking "remember the password" box in Leopard, but it comes close. and I was happy with this work around. However, now having upgraded to MAvericks, Mail insisted on using "local items" as keychain, and keeps asking me the passwords for my e-mail accounts (NOT the  local item keychain password, since my local item keychain IS synced up with Login keychain, therefore they are both unlocked upon me logging in) so that it can store them. The thing is I do NOT want the e-mail passwords to be stored inside "local items" keychain (because I don't want account access to equal e-mail access (for reasons I do not want to get into, but I feel like this is not too much to ask and was possible before so why not now?).
Could someone please help me out with this?  I've called Apple, and they were quite annoyed with me because the person I talked to keeps saying that I'm not using keychain for the way it is suppoed to be used, but my question then, is, if I canot get applications to use special keychains I set up, what's the use of the function "add new keychain" inside keychain access?  (in fact, the phone supporter basically keep saying "I don't know" to my questions and finally offered me to talk to a senior advisor, at that point I had to leave (and after 1hour on the phone I was quite fed up anyway). so I thought I should turn to the forum.....
    so a recap/summary:
my login and local items keychain sync up fine
but I don't want Mail to store my e-mail passwords in the local items keychain
I want to make Mail use another keychain (i.e. a keychain I set up myself), can we possible to this?
or another other work around that will make Mail to prompt me to enter passwords when I fire up the application (not constantly, but just when I restarting the application, OR after the computer wakes up)
    I'd appreciate any pointers!
    thank you very much!
    sakura

I have the same concerns.  I'm frustrated that the Mail app doesn't currently allow you to use a separate keychain for the passwords.  After many years with Keychain I am being tempted to look to a third party.  Or perhaps it's time to look for a third party mail app?  This is a security issue since email is the primary way that a password change is verified with other accounts.

  • None stop keychain access notifications since Mavericks update

I keep getting notifications, like the one in the image attached. I keep typing in my password but they still keep coming back. Some of them are for address book (which i don't use) while others are for things I've never heard of. The same ones keep coming back over & over again since I've updated to Mavericks.
Can some please give me detailed instructions as to how to fix this in keychain access?
    Thanks guys!

I mean uncheck the box if you are not using icloud Keychain.

So I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud with iOS7. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

    Hi ccharat,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5223
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • Can't access iCloud email after update to 10.7.4

After updating to System 10.7.4, I can't access my iCloud email account on any of my devices (computer and iPhone 4S). The servers are not recognizing my email password, which is the same as my Apple ID password.  I can log in to iCloud using Safari and access all of my other information (contacts, etc.), but not email.
I tried going to Keychain Access and found that my old MobileMe password was correct (now my iCloud and Apple ID password), but the "application password" associated with my email account (which is now my iCloud email account) had been switched to a long string of nonsense.  I tried changing that string to my actual apple ID password, but the system changed it back to the nonsense string. What's going on here???

I've seen others having problems with a server being down, but I've had no problems yet. And all email providers have problems from time to time. I expect Apple is having minor problems with the transition from MMe to iCloud and I expect it to become stable, even though I've seen few problems.
From my experience, it's been more stable than gmail or att.net. Do what makes you comfortable and no reason not to have both in case one fails.
Unless you're a very unlucky person on a bad server, it may just be a setup issue. Try signing out of iCloud, delete iCloud accounts left in Mail. Delete any password associated with iCloud or MMe or .mac in Keychain for applications, not the website password. Verify your Keychain is OK after with Keychain First Aid.
Then sign back into iCloud and let the server set up the Mail account. The only thing you have to do is check the box to use Mail and iCloud does the account setup. If it doesn't work, then it's a server issue.
As of right now, iCloud system status reports no trouble in the US.

  • I changed my apple id now can't access iCloud

I got hacked, the support center gave me new I'd with new email. Now I can't access iCloud because it is stuck on old Id, help please I don't want to lose everything from pictures to downloaded apps. How do I access iCloud with new email and Id? How do I change iCloud Id and keep everything?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Can Apple Employees hack my iCloud/iMessage/iTunes/Private Apps/Photo Sharing?

Can Apple Employees hack my iCloud/iMessage/iTunes/Private Apps/Photo Sharing? I was recently in the Apple Store and was asked for my Apple Id/password, and to enter it onto the stores iPad. Coincidently, my email associated with my Apple ID was hacked, and numerous times a day I will be asked for my Apple ID password for iMessage and iCloud. I finally changed my email and password for APPLE ID and now literally every 45 seconds a screen for iCloud pops up. What can be accessed using my iTunes account? I had personal and private data including bank accounts, photos, location enabled GPS for most apps. Is it possible that an Apple employee (with good reason) could get a hold of this information??

We have become familiar faces since I go into the Apple Store and we know some of the same people through mutual friends. Everything I know about her she has told me, and mostly just innocent conversation at the apple store. I'm not going to report someone is stalking me if I dont know for a FACT that she is stalking me. It didnt catch my attention until a few friends who don't know her, just the situation started noticing it. I changed my apple ID so hopefully it stops, but like I said - it came to the point of being too frequent to be a coincidence. I guess re-routing back to my original question ....... Can an Apple Employee hack into my account and download the apps under my Apple ID and use my iMessage, iCloud, ect.... I don't understand why it is such a secret! its either a yes or no question. I don't feel comfortable knowing that I have had devices (not my own) that have been granted permission for iMessage (I received the notification on my ipad that another ipad had turned on imessage under my apple ID), and at the time I was not aware that someone would desire the need to log into my account to read my imessages - or could actually do it? I'm very very secretive about passwords, and would not even write on the forum about this if I didn't think it were possible. I appreciate all of your responses, I truely do but this has been going on since before March when I first created the post so understandably its been on the back of my mind for quite some time!
